I am back in Tauranga to sign off the completion of the P2P caches and the REALLY Side Tracked series in the Western Bay area plus a few others that might get in the way.I think so as well.Cheers for the cache, Geckoh.
We found the caches along this pathway up to P2P10 a few weeks back and were planning to come back and finish them off but had heard the Cycleway was closed from this point onwards and had been for months. We wanted to check it out and confirm for ourselves as well as find this cache which we didnt get last time as it is still on the open side. It took a bit of searching in our most disliked type of plant but perseverance paid off. Good to get a smiley for this one and we will return once the rest of the pathway is open. It seems crazy the powers that be have closed it for this long, wonder what the hold up is?. We couldnt find any information online. Anyway look forward to coming back soon.
Last of my targeted caches for the afternoon on this section of the trail. Thanks to Geckoh for the placements and making the walking/biking/scooting pathway a geocaching adventure pathway as well.
Unfortunately, the cycle lane is blocked past here so I can't continue the hunt. Tftc though
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit & doing the things that we want to do we are currently parked up at the Welcome Bay (Tauranga) NZMCA Campsite we decided that we would take our bikes out to the Kaituna Wetland & park up there ride from there to Papamoa & back, have some lunch then walk the Kaituna Wetland Track the cache was easily found, log book completed & replaced had to be a bit careful with lots of muggle cyclists zipping past on a regular basis pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #4,729 for us!
Good find with woolwood9 on a few days away.SL *tm/ww NZ*This was the main area for us today - we got a shock with the signs at start (or finish) by P2P 25 where there were barriers and signs saying cycleway CLOSED. However detour took us to access near P2P 11 so we started there. Track is blocked off heading towards the higher number caches on the trail as well.First along the trail for us!Thanks for the cache.
Heading north with tmann421 for a few days. This was day three with plenty of miles for us to cover.Enjoyed the hide hereGreat trail along hereSigned log tm/ww NZTFTC
Have been meaning to tackle these two series for ages, and was hoping to knock them off before the end of 2023 to hit our 500, but just didn't quite get there. So, did the next best thing and hit them up on the first day of 2024 instead!18th find for the day today. This one took a bit more of a search and was nearly caught by a family of muggles joining the trail here by bike. Luckily as they came through, I happened to be reading the previous logs on my phone so just looked like any other mobile addicted soul. Thanks to a previous log I extended my search to the left and located the cache. SL. TNLN.Thanks for the placement. Really glad to have this turned into a smiley.
Out and about with the shoebs family.A nice quick, easy, find, grab, sign and flee.TFTC
10 from 10 this one took a wee bit more hunting but yet again the not so little one made the find.
In the area today with junior cacher and Mrs stik-a-crane for some RNR, and luckily the weather decided to play ball for the time we were visiting.
Spotted this trail and managed to lock in accommodation reasonably close by, but still decided to drive closer to the trail start......was going to park at the boat ramp, but due to recent heavy rain, that option had been flooded, and no longer an option, so went a little further down the road, set up the bikes, and set off along the trail.....
The cache was all good.
TFTC.

I needed a decent bike ride today and I could not ignore this trail any longer.

With the Geotour coming to and end soon Yvettetb and I decided to go on a road trip to collect Tahi and Rua. Of course I had some puzzles at various places to collect and a few special types were added to the list too.
Today's plan was to get a few caches around Rotorua with high favourite points. We then wanted to head up to Tauranga via a few PWGT caches. As it turned out we only got one cache in Rotorua this morning as it was drizzling so we headed north to avoid the rain.
Our initial plan was only grabbing a couple of puzzles. With the nice weather we enjoyed a walk along this cycleway. Quickly found this one as we went, TFTC

A nice quick find. I found most of the caches on the trail, but not all. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are off on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland to visit family. Today we cruised from Whakatane to Cambridge.. The weather was fine and warm, and the Christmas traffic is stating to build!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

Whilst the previous was being signed, pushed on to find this one. Found quickly, cheers
Got off work at lunchtime and headed out to enjoy the sunny winters day. Cold but not a cloud in the sky. Returned to complete this P2P series. Have driven past so many times and imagined I would return here with a bike but instead had to walk it. Still enjoyable with all the varied hides to break up the walk. Wasn’t looking forward to the flax hides however with the clear hints they were no problem. Took 2 hours to collect the remaining 18 caches. Cache and log all fine here. Disappointing to se the Information boards covered in graffiti. Seems so pointless Thanks Geckoh for all your effort in setting up the series.
Khonig and I have been talking about doing the Papamoa to Paengaroa trail series for a while now... and with the added bonus of completing some puzzle caches along the trail we decided that today was the day. Weather was brilliant... no rain and just enough cloud to keep us from over heating. Between us we had two cars so decided to be strategic about placement of the cars so we only had to do the trail once... thank goodness because we had tired feet by the time we were finished. Thanks so much for all the caches along the trail... a very well maintained and enjoyable experience.
5 June 2022 17:27. The last of this excellent little series - didn't manage to find them all, but found most of them. It's now dark and my phone battery is on 4% so I guess it's time to call it a night and slowly head back to Te Aroha where I'm staying. TFTC
Plan was to walk and cache this power trail until I needed to be heading to mt Maunganui. Found most but not all. .
Out walking the P2P trail in reverse numerical order from south to north this morning.
We were pleased to make a quick find here given the hide. Thanks.

Another quick find & a cool container. Love the work that goes into these series. Tftc
Nice hide. Busy road way next door lol. Had to wait for breaks in the traffic to retrieve an sign. Replaced as found. Onto the hunt.
Glad I know where I am today! Plenty of signs here. Thanks for bringing us here geckoh
Nice paint job on this container it looks pristine..I can only appreciate the effort that has gone into designing and laying this series thanks Geckho
Needing some fresh air and exercise after a few days if inclement weather and a break from the computer (trying to solve a geckho puzzle), teamed up with Dee+ME. Armed with our bikes and fingers crossed it won’t rain off we went.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Logged with permission. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

Today is the day, regardless of the rain, that McJandals and I are doing this trail. Thanks for placing these caches.

A great day for biking this trail and gathering some smileys as we go. Started at the Gordon Spratt Reserve, morning tea at the Kaituna wetlands - they're looking fabulous - lunch at Makatu then caching again on our way back. 49km all up, 32 caches and no DNFs. Cache is all good. TFTC
Ooooh how exciting, a new trail of caches on a cycle path, and in the direction we're going!
Having joined up with mr rattll again, we left Kawerau and headed here. Mrs rattll headed off on the bike and this time it was mr rattlls time to do the dog sitting.
Found after a little search
Thanks for putting all these caches on this cycleway

Finally we had a weekend free and this new trail gave us the opportunity to get back out on the bikes and dependent on the number of successful finds, also gain the final summit challenge souvenir which we had almost given up on.
ROS had been on this cycleway several times before but at a much faster pace than today.
There were a lot of passing muggles who offered help thinking we had lost something and the occasional runner who must have wondered why we made such slow progress when he passed us on his return!
We had been expecting someone to set this trail up so it wasn’t a complete surprise when the caches were published. Enjoyable trail TFTC.

Last one along here for today. Got to leave some local ones for any weird souvenirs that pop up! TFTC. Now for the walk back.
7926 After seeing this trail pop up over the weekend I decide to get on my bike and collect them. Parked at the northern end and took me just over 3hrs to do the round trip. with only 1 DNF. Will have to comeback for that one. Enjoyed the trail with interesting hides some of which I found a challenge to find. Thank you for all the effort in creating these caches.
Time for a rest and drink of water. While I signed the log that is.

Starting to lose a bit of light now...and wishing I'd brought the bike along instead of walking .
Must be nearing the halfway point?!

Time to get the bikes out and tackle this trail. The first challenge was to navigate our way through all the new housing down Papamoa. We parked down the end of Te Okuroa Drive and hopped on.
Nice easy start out around the pond and on to the trail We have been waiting a long time for someone to set up a trail along here and really looking forward to it
While I was getting this one Richard had a look down the track coming in Little did we know but we return that way TFTC

With (Mr) Davidson Clan, ABCDF4 and eyespyben… Our Huntly friends responded to our invite to walk the P2P trail, and we were able to park a vehicle at either end…
I paused to have a look at the information panel and hadn’t realised there was a cache here until it was brought out for signing. Thanks Geckoh and TFTC.
