Awesome spot. I didn't read the description and we ended up parking and finding butterfly garden and bamboo forest walkway so very happy and loved the adventure. Great hide too.
We found this one while doing the ad lab here. Didn't fool the oldest who had his hands on it after a few moments. Good geosenses on him I reckon. Tftc
This is great hide, had me looking for a little bit, but easy once you know where it is. Enjoying my day out and getting a more difficult one is fun. Tftc
Thanks for your amazing cache Miles. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and to maintain your amazing caches. I thought I had found the cache in the form of a yellow pen. Obviously that had been dropped by a cacher on a previous visit so the pen found a safe haven home with me. There was lots of options to try and finally found the right one.Earned a favourite from me. Found with Fisha1288. Cheers, Cympull
We came to this well collecting the Ad Lab on Union Hill. We were a little worried with the difficulty rating of 4 but we were very surprised when we had this on in less than 30 sec's. Great to get this one in this historic location
Amazingly this was the very first thing I placed my hands on! We were all set for a big long search after seeing difficulty 4 so were very relieved as we are on a big caching adventure today with beconaze. TFTC
Very clever and it did not have Mr. B stumped for too long a fave point from us.
On a guided walk with EchoWalkFest on Union Hill, and we visited this site. Only had time for a brief investigation as I needed to stay with the group, and wasn't able to spot it in the time available. Hopefully I can have a more thorough look some other time.
The call went up as another caching raid had been planned (in minute detail I have to say) by Keylev. As it was Easter weekend we didn't have the full Team SEAC compliment but 3 of us headed down to Waihi to execute "THE PLAN". So starts the adventure of Keyle, NurseDr and NZTravellers.Very Clever hid here when NurseDr found it and was in an area that I had just searched. Fav point added for the camo!TFTC
Today 3 of the Team SEAC crew headed down as the Waihi Walking Wanderers...a smaller crew than usual being Easter Weekend but that didn't stop our enthusiasm or plan for the day. Another great day out for sure!! Best of all not a single DNF!!I had looked at a few items of interest on the exterior but left the others to explore further and headed on under to look there hoping I wouldn't end up with spiders all over me. Luckily it wasn't long before the 'found it' call went out! Very nicely done here! Worthy of a fav point. Thanks for the cache.
We really enjoyed the walk around the area and learning about the history. The adventure lab was nearby too. Found with our Nephews Max, Everett and Romeo
Came here in search of cache and found cool mining ruins. Reminded me of Myst: Riven. Thanks for luring me to a dope location I wouldnt have dreamt of visiting otherwise.
School holidays are upon us, so me and the geo-grandies had a nice day of geocaching around Waihi and ended up here. Ive been here before and left baffled. We searched high and low for about 20 minutes (with breaks for snacks and drinks) and were just about to give up when suddenly we had a I wonder moment and there it was!! With thanks for bringing us here and allowing me to give a very sketchy explanation of the gold mining process and why these structures were originally built. Now we are heading back home to do some research.
I can see why this has so many favourite points, and now it has one more. An excellent hide. TFTC
What a cool cache!! I've been here before so it was fun to come back. Did this one this afternoon while I was doing an Ad Lab in the same area.
Took a little while to find the cache... knew where to start looking and actually had a decent idea of what I was looking for... but locating it wasn't quite so straightforward. High and low... around and around.... under and over... and then caught something out the corner of my eye and realised I'd looked over it several times. Thanks heaps... very clever hide and well worth the time spent as well as a fav point! TFTC

The round with the labs also led *Filser1* and me to this tradi. The find came after some searching. Simple is different.

TEMBO! and I walked to the "Union Gold Revisted" and found the cache after a very intensive search. Not easy but we found it.
Nice place to walk and view.
Thanks to Miles. for hiding and maintaining the cache.

After a few months of no caching due to other commitments have a day today for ME TIME!! Awesome to be back in the saddle ( so to speak)) again.
Wow had me going for a while nothing budged until it did. Awesome. Fp
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

Found a few caches today between Paeroa and our overnight stop at Waihi Beach, most of them in and around Waihi. Met up with my sister and her husband to go after the three Ad Labs here today. Detoured to this one whilst undertaking one of the Ad Labs. Before I’d had a chance to start looking, one of our party was holding it up in triumph! A quick find for a D4. No complaints there! #5909. TFTC.
We met up with my brother and his wife at Waihi today as they were in the area, and we joined forces to blitz the three ALCs in the town, with limited time. This was so close to one of the ALC's that we couldn't resist picking it up. My muggle hubbie picked it up very quickly so it was on with the ALC. Great spot here, TFTC
Stayed the night at the Freedom camping in Morgan Park, Waihi. This was the nearest cache so seemed rude not to look for it. Enjoyed exploring the area with all its history. Great hide that didn’t take too long maybe because I have a similar one back home. Happy to add to the favourite points. Cache and log all fine. Thanks for the smiley.
Not sure I would call it square, there are oblong concrete remains that's for real. Nice peaceful walk next to those six tanks. Rather a unique area thanks CO
After doing the adventure lab we decided to take our chances with this one. We went around a few times before spotting the very clever cameo here. Happy that this one did not fool us today especially as we are starting to get tired.
A plan was made with Gorby, tramyard and rustynz for an overnight road trip to Waikato/BOP. We targeted Karangahake Gorge, Waihi, Katikati and Mount Maunganui/Tauranga.
Completing the ad lab in the area and made a short detour from our intended path to find this cache. We all searched high and low, inside and out. Eventually I spied something that I thought could be the cache - turned out I was correct. I didn't tell the others as I went about signing the log, letting them all continue searching. I told them to keep searching while I signed the log, before it registered with them that I had found the cleverly concealed cache. Really blends in with the environment.

Taking a path less travelled, I got a bit confused here, as I was trying to sort out the nearby Union Hill adLab, so thought I was arriving at the bonus final. Well I got that so wrong, luckily my companions of aiden29, tramyard and gorby knew what was happening
With us searching the obvious, it too a few sweeps, before aiden29 called out she had found it. Wow very clever camo on this one, can see why you have been earning the favourite points.
A fun find, thanks for the adventure, I see the area has been tidied up, trees removed, paths widened and recovered. Looking good Waihi

I’m on a 2 day adventure with fellow cachers from Auckland, rustynz, Aiden29 and tramyard. Aiden is our driver in her car, and today we’re walking along the Karangahake valley, picking up trads and adventure labs. Tonight we’re staying at Athenree campground in 4 tents between us, then tomorrow Katikati and Tauranga. Great fun.
I remember coming here in 2015, the building is quite striking, I think, something out of a Predator movie whereby the aliens have emerged. Can't remember the old cache though, but this one is memorable. A FP from me.

Took a few circles around the structures to find this one. I remember finding the previous cache here when I was in the area a few years ago. FP for this clever hidden in plain sight cache.
Weren't sure which structure to begin with but decided to hone in on the one that fitted the description the best. Found after my first perusal. Looked like something worth investigating. There it was. Cool disguise, worth a fav point. Tftc
Starting looking at the other concrete structure before looking at the correct one. Took kimbathelion and myself a while looking in and out before Kimbathelion came up trumps. Favourable point for a great hide. Tftc
FapnGap and Squirel Nutcase and I have come away for the day caching. Nice quick find here today cache is in good condition. Thanks for hiding the cache. FP for this one.
With (Mr) Davidson Clan and Gap (of Fap and Gap)… We got off to an early morning start in an attempt to beat the forecast rain.
We were guided by the cache hint and less by our iPhone gps. Gap sat back (he’s found this hide) and called out something that sounded like meterage… We assumed he was telling us that we were way out. In actual fact, he was enjoying playing ‘hot and cold’ and it became apparent as we drew closer. We’re not sure if we could have found this cache without his hinting - it was so well hidden. Thanks Miles and TFTC.

Today I was on a mission with KGD (Hairy) to clear the north Waikato caches and Adventure lab cashes. A big thanks for placing this cache
Saw this one while I was doing the Ad Lab so thought I may as well pick it up as well. Took me a few minutes before I was able to sign the log. Thank you for the placement.
Mrs rattll had an enjoyable walk around the area, despite the drizzle - drawn here by the addition of the adventure lab series.
It took a bit of searching to spot this awesome hide. Great placement in this interesting area, and great camo. Thanks for setting this up

When I saw this pop up, I thought I knew where it would be and, today, I was finally in the area with enough time and energy. A quick search located the cleverly camouflaged cache. I always expect these structures to be inhabited by the mutated descendents of survivors of a nuclear war (probably in a John Wyndham novel). TFTC & FP.
Out for a days caching in this area..I have been here numerous times and always enjoy the history I was not aware that the original roasting was done using wood ..great piece of history ..the cache is a crafty clever hide,it blends in well along with being suitable for the era ..thanks Miles for a nice tidy cache
This is a track I haven't been on for quite some time. We had a junior finder with us. He is quite experienced and soon spotted something worth investigating further. Great camo and should stand the test of time. Always a pleasure exploring this area. Thanks for bringing us here.
Awesome camo and an awesome spot. Took a loop around the structure before I found it! Tftc
I remember getting the previous cache here many years ago!
Was nice to come back here for this one...Came here with my brother who I was visiting in George St ; so we walked in from that way.
Great to see the new Butterfly Gardens ..and go through the bamboo tunnel again!
Brilliant hide...favourite point...was good fun thanks.

This is such an interesting place and it’s great to see another cache here. I too did a couple of circles and then aha. Very clever and well done cache TFTC
I like to imagine what it would have been like back then, probably very noisy and dirty but this is how the country was built. Luckily finding the cache at gz was a very quick affair, it could have taken a lot more time. TFTC

We have been here before for the previous cache but did enjoy the stroll around here at night. the structures looked awesome in the dark, we were thankful of the nicely formed walkway. We too circled the structure for a while until Mr Geckoh reached out and claimed the cache. Very nice camo job and well worth a favourite point. TFTC

We love this spot and were very pleased to come back and find this new cache.
There was no one else around and we enjoyed walking around these amazing structures.
We weren't sure what to expect with this cache and were prepared for a bit of a search but fortunately we found the very clever cache quite quickly. Nicely done.
Thanks Miles. for bringing us back here and for the very rewarding find.
A favourite point for sure.

On a mission in Waihi Beach today and now that we've conquered [Orokawa Pa Site GC367PT](https://coord.info/GC367PT) it's time to have a little wander around Waihi. It took a little circling before this one was found. An excellent hide and a favourite point from me. Just missed the FTF though by a couple of hours. Cheers Miles - TFTC **Early 2015 a group of Tauranga based cachers started a [BOP Geocaching Facebook Page](https://www.facebook.com/groups/GeocachingBOP/).240 cachers currently make up this [Closed](https://www.facebook.com/help/220336891328465#What-are-the-privacy-options-for-groups) group where we organise various geocaching events and excursions as well as share information and friendly banter.
