Big day out today collecting unfound caches before they disappear. Thanks Robmc
The time has come to retire the 2023 Rutherglen Mega Caches. We hope everyone enjoyed finding them.Wiser than Owls.
Well I am still making my way back from the Canberra Geobash Mega (it is such along way between Melbourne and Canberra if you dont take the direct route).I have been stopping along the way to do a few different series and to also tick off a few challenge caches as well. After spending the night in Beechworth to help find Randolph I happened to catch up with one of the COs who reminded me that this series was about to get archived very soon.I had worked out all of the puzzles previously and some were quickly done and others I had a couple of nudges to help solve and injust ran out of time at the Mega to find them back then.Im glad I decided to do these today as it rained all night and I would not have been able to travel on those roads to find them. Thanks for another piece of geoart on my map. Thanks Wiser than Owls TFTC.
A nice puzzle series around the wine area here, cache found and is all goodToday on my way home from the Capital Geobash in the ACT, I made my way from Wagga Wagga to Rutherglen via Albury/Wodonga. I started off with the Pub series followed by a few along the way and a few small trails around last years mega. Unfortunately half way through the day I fell from a try about 6m up but was okay to continue on. Thanks for the cache
Beautiful Autumn evening to be catching up on a few caches from last years Mega event. Thanks Wiser Than Owls.
Found with PapaGrouch on a mission to collect some more of the Mega caches before they are archived. Slightly more complicated puzzle but not too hard if you have come across this before. TFTC
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Wending our way towards Canberra for the Mega. Orignally we planned a whole week here to collect the most smilies we could but alas plans had to be changed and now we are in a rush. Today we tackled the BBP series and anything else that jumped in our way. The multis we mostly solved yesterday but again today we were collecting coords for another day. TFTC Wiser than Owls
This last four BBP caches were the ones we needed help with. They were the only ones catnap777 and I hadnt solved by our last visit, so after a nudge, we came to get em while they were still here to get. We heard whispers that these series' of caches may soon see their end of days. Apart from these "loose tricks" we also had caches on the BBBT left to pick up so...."Well" we says..... "On ya bike." With car loaded and bikes onboard, cat' and I took off for wine country well before dawn and were peddling our way to our first caches of the day before the first cellar doors were opoened. Then we rounded off the day nicely by touring the Solar System orbiting around the "Wine Bottle" polishing it off as well before putting the BBP series and ourselves to bed. We had a "wheely" good time, and all caches found were in very good condition with accurate mystery cache coords gleaned from great little puzzles. [^]TFTCs & Series' Wiser than Owls (and Robmc).
dalerious and I struggled with solving this one, and to be honest we shouldn't have because we are familiar with what you needed to utilise to solve it.We had heard that this magnificent series were being archived soon, so thinking we had all the BBP done, we had only planned for signing the BBBT series and a few trads and a missing multi on the way.It was only at the eleventh hour that we realised that we had 4 of this series unsolved.Well we did what we had to do and that was to ask our friends for their assistance in getting us over the line.We are so grateful to them for their time and willingness to go out of their way to help out, on a Saturday, when they too are out and about in this glorious weather, doing what they do best.Thank you Wiser than Owls. It is a shame it all has to come to an end so soon.
Wagga Wagga Expedition Day #2After my day of work on Friday, I jumped into the car and headed off to Wagga for the weekend. Of course for the Geocaching Expedition events and various caches. Given that I live so close to Wagga, I decided on finding the caches further away. This included a trip to Rutherglen to find the BBP power trail and anything else I could find along the way. But Johno, isn't that a 2 hour trip each way (4 hours total) and that does not include finding the caches. Yes, that is correct but it was all for a good reason. This is for a few reasons, including (but not limited to): I was yet to find them, it would make for a great day out and they are getting archived soon. Last night I was able to convince ADACacher to join me. We left at about 5:40am and returned just in time for today's event at 5pm. It was a great trip and many caches were found. A few missing logsheets which have now been replaced. Hopefully, I can at some point get back for to find the mutli-caches before they are archived. Anyway, I loved the day and so did ADACacher! Now time to rest up and get ready for tomorrow. Sorry about the generic logs but given the amount of caches found today, that was going to happen. If there were any notable caches found, a full log is to follow. TB visit. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTE & TFTC's!
WAW Day 1 - Rutherglen dash with JohnoMawbs. No 51. After spending some time on multis preparing for a Rutherglen trip I was offered an opportunity to tag along with Johno Mawbs for a run on the BPP series "and a couple of other" as he put it. I had an amazing day hunting around this lovely area of Australia and all caches were found easily unless otherwise noted.
I had as much fun solving these puzzles as I did finding them. Many thanks Wiser than Owls for providing this game piece for our enjoyment. And thanks for sharing the highlights of your region.
In the area with AnyMules, brisal5 and 6Hinemoa2 signing all logs as BAB6 to save space in the log books or their personal stamp. This may be the ageing Bushfires last Mega as the effects of advancing MND continues to advance but as I said that after the Whittlesea Mega, we will see.I must thank my three mates and lots of other folk for all the help that I have received over the last year or so for which I will always be very grateful. This cache was found on our travels around this great area while attending the Mega Event in Rutherglen early April 2023.I am slowly logging these caches but I don't know if I will finish only time will tell. You never know what life has in store for you so you must expect the unexpected. Thanks to Wiser than Owls for placing this cache.
Sorry this is going to be a generic for all the caches we picked up today. A lovely day out Rutherglen way with Ampitup, picking up some caches before the grass got too long. Thanks for the puzzles and the caches.
I enjoyed a great morning out with jorgo_crew. Slowly ticking off the many solved caches around Rutherglen.A total of 25 found today and 2 dnf'sThankyou wiser than owls.
It was a nice sunny day and we got back on our bikes to try and complete this series. We found the puzzles enjoyable and nearly all were within our ability. We ended up finding all the caches in this series. The coords for all caches were very accurate. We cycled 18km in 3 hours to grab 34 caches. By then us seniors were worn out. So we did the rest as drive-bys which was not as enjoyable. Thank you very much for this lovely series of puzzles and caches.
Out on an autumn day that hopefully won’t rain too much! TFTC.

After attending the ANZAC day parade in Albury the weather was too good to not go caching. Wanted to head back to Rutherglen to try and finish some series over that way (not certain how long so many caches can be maintained). In the end got 61 caches in the end with no traditionals(!) - 31 Brolga Bill (complete), 21 FTF Explosion (1 to go) and 8 Easter Wherigoes (about 44 to go - 1 more day I reckon). All caches were found relatively quickly and the geohound and I enjoyed the beautiful sunshine.

Missed the mega, by that much. Finally a nice warm sunny day!!! Many thanks to all everyone (local and far away) who put together a great crop of caches.
This series was solved in preparation for the Rutherglen Mega. Today we managed to sign the log. TftcApologies for the late log, these were all saved offline and I've just found them.

Headed out this beautiful bright morning to complete the Brolga Bill caches. It was a quiet morning and I was lucky enough to have the roads all to myself. All caches found were in excellent condition with logbooks all in great condition. Thanks Wiser than Owls for this excellent series. Enjoyed solving the puzzles and then finding the caches. Such a huge effort putting this all together for us to enjoy
#5136 Well after completing the Beginner Challenge Series, thought may as well knock over a few more in the Brolga Bill that we started a while back. This sequence was on a nice quiet back road so again we got out of the geocar and completed finds on foot with the geohounds. TFTC.
Still in the area after the Rutherglen Mega and today I am after the BBP Series. Thank yiu Wiser than Owls for setting this trail for our enjoyment.

Apologies for generic logs.
I have really enjoyed solving these puzzles and the way in which the have been constructed from an easy solve and to getting harder. I did need help with 10 of them but I have learnt sooo much.
Found with Itchyfeet2020 and the Seagnoid -signed as NZBITS. We are one group of several kiwis over here for the Rutherglen Mega at Easter. It’s going to great with so many sessions of things I want to learn about. PLUS so many caches to find.

Monday of the Rutherglen Mega Event. A fine but windy day and the wind was bitterly cold at times. Only one DNF today and we were able to find that on a return visit. Mostly mystery caches were found today including around six that we hadn't solved but were able to find by looking at proximity circles in Cachly and also looking for tyre tracks and cacher trails. An excellent assortment of caches and all were well placed. Apologies for this generic log but there were far too many to remember individual caches.

Time for our next exciting geo adventure - Rutherglen Mega. NZ_B, the Seagnoid and I are here from NZ. Today is Day 6 and time to pick up all the BBT puzzles. I really enjoyed solving these over the last few months, especially the increasing difficulty - they are a great series, thank you. We tried one of these roads two days ago and it was to boggy - today it was a ok. Logs are being signed as NZBITS for NZ_B, Itchyfeet2020 and The Seagnoid. Thank you Wiser than Owls.
A great series of series of puzzles, and I really enjoyed solving them with the team. Spent a day collecting just two on Easter Friday, which we then aborted due to the boggy roads. Now, a few days later we figured that road would have dried out and came out to finish them off. All were straightforward finds, there seem to be just two standard hide styles
Found during an awesome 10 day Aussie trip, centered around the Rutherglen Mega event. Log signed as NZBITS, for NZ_B, Itchyfeet2020 and the Seagnoid.

All logs where stamped as " Mystery Randoms " today. Found after doing the nearby wherigo trail. Quick find.
Found with JAMS (( JJ52, Allister w, Mogni, plus sir_spectre ) Mitchell&hound wasn't with us this trip) crew. All logs stamped as JAMS to save log space. This trip we are off to the Rutherglen Mega and then slowly coming back to S.A. for a total of 8 dys and 7 nights. The targets of this trip are for JJ52 to get 11 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and a few more Victorian LGA's, Allister W was targeting 17 virtuals ( or as many as he could get ) a few more Victorian LGA's Mogni to make the Rutherglen Mega her 20, 000 find and also for her to complete all Victoria LGA's, sir_spectre needs 1 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and get his Victoria LGS's down to 2 LGA's left. We got 20 or more finds in a LGA if we stayed in there over night. We also detoured to stamp any challenge caches that we were " in the general area off " and to complete that challenge before we came back to S.A. This meant that some times dirt road (s) had to be walked down because they were to wet to drive down and/or haven't been repaired since last years flooding. We started off the holiday in the rain and then that cleared up only to start raining and a overnight thunder storm but most of the trip was dry. Over 600 caches found for the trip including over 120 lab stages in that total. Got to complete the GPS Maze at the Rutherglen Mega for a 2nd time. Allister w was the team driver for all of the Victorian part of the trip. I think this was the first trip ever to Victoria that the extension pole didn't get used but the 6.2 meter ladder did get a work out.

The JAMS team (JJ52 allister w, mogni and sir_spectre) were on a road trip heading to the Rutherglen Mega event (staying in Corowa) for 3 days then winding our way home via Albury, Wangaratta, Bendigo and various other places in between. It was a great week with many more caches found than we expected. There were targeted caches, challenge caches, Ad Labs, events and various others to fulfill various statistics for the four of us. We were lucky with the weather, it rained a bit on our way over on Friday, then half a day after we left Wangaratta but on the whole it was great caching weather. We did drive a few slippery muddy roads, but nothing too bad. We also caught up with lots of people either at events or out in the field and enjoyed many great chats. All in all a fun time with lots of Victoria explored and then very tired when I arrived home. [^]
Had fun solving all these puzzles and today we went and found them all.
Thanks for the cache Wiser than Owls.

Also qualifiied for a variety of challenges, found LGA's and had lots of laughs. Found while attending the Victorian Mega in Rutherglen.

Our last full day at the Rutherglen Mega - Tankengine, Mtrax, Youban and I had a great long weekend. Nothing is more fun than going to a new place and caching with all our caching friends. The Mega and events were great and Rutherglen and the surrounding areas have so much to offer.
This cache: This was the only series we did all by ourselves. We were a little sad to have no friends, but we didn’t need them as the coords were all good and the containers found quickly. Great series. No issues, unless a note was added below. Tftc!!!

Most logs will be generic or there might be some more under here. Thanks CO's for the caches that made this such a great week for us.
**SA’s Leap Year Event GCA1DNA - keep the date free - 29th February 2024.**
***Thanks Wiser than Owls for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***
Logs prepared and published through GSAK.
I was up here for the Rutherglen Mega along with CaptainCoop09 and we found this cache.Day 4 of our trip and we had our last day planned with a few more local attractions and sites to visit, and of course caches to find, including the BBP series. All in all we had a great day, managing to catch up with many fellow cachers along the way.TFTC.
Today was going to be a huge day of a variety of caches. First up was registration and then the maze, followed by a bunch of gadget caches and lab caches. We bumped into people all day long, it was so much fun, and those gadget caches were just as tricky as before.
We took a drive and did the Ladder series and the Challenge series. It was then time for a break and some food before we headed out and got into the BBP series. There is so much to do in this town. we got in some Adventure labs and some multi’s.
We signed logs and depending on who was doing the signing at the time the pen colour may change, lol. However all logs were signed and all caches replaced as found. Thanks to all the CO’s for the hides
This was another great series of nice puzzles and some fun hides

For more than a year, the group of us, has been busy solving these caches.
Now we can make that work, in to nice yellow smiley faces
To save time and to not take up room on the logs we sometimes signed as GDS+M
Gwd.aussie = G , D@geo = D , Sharon14 = S , and Mezza74 = M
And other times with sign with our normal or shorted caching names.
Thank you for the Puzzle and the hide Wiser than Owls, and Brolga Bill

Found with a "gaggle" of South Australian cachers!! A great day out and none of the bogging issues myself and SpiderMonkeysMom had yesterday!! Thanks for a great series!!
In the area for the Rutherglen Mega. Teamed up with GWD.aussie, D@geo and Mezza74 to find some caches. Log sheets, if not signed with Sharon14 signed with the team name gds+m , S14. Thanks Wiser than Owls
Day 3 of our loop through Vic and SA then home.
Today I teamed up with dghoffy to finish off the Easter geoart this morning then back out on the trails this afternoon after a short stop for lunch back in Rutherglen.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

In town for Mega and met up with some of the other Queenslanders for three intense days of caching. Signed as TQ6.
We're going like Eveready bunnies signing anything we've solved.
This exercise reminds me of the old pacman game going along- munch, munch, munch?? spitting out the smileys on the map. Yummy!??

We hope you were Wiser than Owls and placed all these caches without stressing yourselves too much. You have provided so much brain exercise and physical exercise for us all and we want you to know how much we appreciate your hard work in setting up all the puzzles, challenges and locations. We cached as team JALEAR as at these events its so much fun caching together with others instead of the often usual solo caching near home or on trips.
Cheers and happy caching!

Yay! Road trip! Down from Canberra for the Mega and all of the caching and the fun!
After completing the Easter Wherigos, it was time to knock off the BBPs. Most were easy finds and a few took a few moments more. The puzzles were relatively easy to solve only a few had me reaching out to a geobuddy for hints!
All up another fun day out in the geounit caching around the countryside.
Thanks for the hide, Wiser than Owls

Enjoyed the puzzles and cache finds for this series! A little bit different than solving the Wherigo's, but a nice variety. The cache hides were a lot easier to find in this series too, with excellent coordinates and placements!
**NOTE:** After the first 11 caches in the BBP, we lost the "T" and signed as "BLAS" as Toy Hunters decided to head to the dinner event early, and opted to find the caches by himself at a later date instead.
Jamin Appleford (JA) also joined our team for a while during this series, was good to cache with you, thanks for the extra set of eyes!
Many thanks to the CO for placing & to the puzzle creators!

**Rutherglen Mega Day 2**
Today was the BIGGEST day for us! An early start, with the goal of completing the entire "Easter" Wherigo series and "BBP" series. A couple other stragglers and new caches diverted our attention briefly, but we were able to stick to the goal until after the sun went down!
My long standing record from 5 years ago of 200 caches in a day was smashed out of the park! Unsure of final numbers, but definitely in excess of that record!

Special thanks to all the people we had the pleasure of caching with today outside of BLAST, including Flintstone's, Dino, Tankengine, dty73, Youban, mtrax, Jamin Appleford & "MR"
Apologies for generic logs on powertrails, I will always strive to write individual and detailed logs on those caches outside of the trails.

Rutherglen Mega - Easter 2023 - Day 2: Saturday
Spent the afternoon tackling the BBP Series. Signed as 'BLAS' (Bonfire, Loci612 & Sebass19) and 'FD' (Flintstone's & Dino'). We were also lucky enough to team up with Jamin Appleford for part of the trail too.
Thanks to all involved in creating and maintaining this series.

MEGA day 2 - after taking a look at the maze, we met up with the Qld crew (Domsky, chamad, Hatzofff, RoddyC and Echocage1) and headed out to collect the BBP puzzle series. To save room, the logs were signed TQ6.
Thanks Wiser than Owls for the great puzzles and caches. A very enjoyable trail.

A weekend with Dino at the Victorian Mega in Rutherglen over Easter Friday to Sunday. To find lots of caches and have lots of fun. Quite rainy on Friday with a very painfully delayed trip over from
Canberra to make it here just before closing. Today's Saturday weather looks much nicer.
Caching this trail with a group. Signing as BLAS FD
This is one of the caches we found today. Thank you Wiser than Owls for putting this one out.

Having completed the Easter series, Minniek and dghoffy decided there was enough time and energy to knock over this series. A successful run with no dnfs. Couple of the roads were getting a bit cut up after the rain but not an issue for a 4wd. Some of the caches were obviously placed by a very tall person. Thankfully we had one of those in our group too. Thanks for setting up and maintaining the series for our enjoyment. Tftc
Found with FUF009. Day 3.
Rutherglen turned up a pretty nice day today.
After a sleep-in, we did some more AdLabs, pathtag trading, and a few events, then all the BBP series, which included some hairy roads. Then FTF madness kicked in and we raced for a few but without luck. So we ended up rounding up as many multi finals as possible before heading into town for dinner, pizza again! Still excellent. I got my 13,500th cache somewhere amongst all this. Currently logging at the same time that we night cache the Easter 2023 wherigos!! Its going to be a nice sleep in tomorrow. Tftc
