And so it came to pass that, under the light of the waxing gibbous moon, QueenK8 did complete the Challenge that is Finding a Geocache Hidden on Each Calendar Day of the Year. This evening's adventures began with Joolay's "Good/Bay N.E.W.S." cache, for which QueenK8 did qualify. There followed Tankengine's "Jinninderra Jetty", a cache surprisingly devoid of blackberry bushes for one hidden by this CO. Google Maps had initially taken QueenK8 to a nearby peninsula and suggested that the quickest way to GZ was to walk across the water. Despite her manifold talents, this is not one that QueenK8 possesses.A drive south took QueenK8 to Yooitsjoshua's "Rest Area" cache. Upon requesting assistance from the previous finder, Mr T Hunter, the cache manifested itself in the very next area that QueenK8 looked, negating the need for assistance. No circuit of the nation's capital is complete without a visit to the Waterfront of Wonders. It was here that QueenK8 found the AL x 3 Bonus cache "Reconciliation Walk" in a most clever contraption contrived by Loci612 and isopeda. It was most fortunate that the minions kept away for the safe recovery and rehide of said contraption. QueenK8 celebrated the occasion by walking back along the Reconciliation Walk playing "From Little Things, Big Things Grow" by that most outstanding musical artist, Paul Kelly. The final find of the five to complete the Challenge was Search 4's virtual cache, "A Gift from Canada". This stellar piece of artwork was a fitting way to complete this challenge. Photographs were taken, including one of the five trackables that accompany QueenK8 at this stage of her travels. The occasion was marked with a gelato in the city, surrounded by voices and lights that echoed and mirrored the heavens.Blessings and gratitude be poured down upon all COs who have hidden and maintained geocaches throughout the nation and her capital.
That was interesting. Nice to see since I'm visiting from Canada. Gets a fave. Visiting the area with family on this beautiful afternoon. TFTV!
Finally logging this one from the MEGA, I'm terribly slack but ticking another one off. TFTC and getting me down by the water
Hi Search 4, We found your 2.5 1.0 Virtual Virtual A Gift From Canada - Virtual Reward 3.0 on 26/9/2024.Find 3147 for BFMC.A school holiday road trip to Sydney for a bit of a break. Targeting unfound virtuals for this trip and whatever else we come across that we can sneak off and find given we have a mix of cachers and non cachers.Rather fresh breeze coming off the lake this evening, so a quick stroll for the two of us to grab some smilies. An interesting gift to say the least. TFTC.
TFTC Search 4 for placing this cache, number 14757 for me.I've finally tracked down the photos on my camera, dug out the information and sent it through to the CO - A fascinating locatin to examine - I'm much more used to the Northern Hemisphere night skies than the South!
Find # 1273415/9/2024 Met up with a muggle friend for a B2B chalk (chat walk) and then decided to follow this with a bit of caching as there are some new ones in the area as we dont frequent these parts as much as I used to.This gets a favourite for the location and highlighting something Ive walked past and not noticed so many times All finds very straightforward here today, and caches in good condition. Thanks Search 4 for A Gift From Canada - Virtual Reward 3.0
Nice to find some information in mother tongue. Some French on the plaques, thanks for discovering this
Out for a fancy dinner nearby so dashed over to collect the answers before we went in. Thanks! A fun one and I learnt a lot.
Found with Mrs Burdons5 today on a stroll around the area. Answers sent to the CO. Tftc!
A gift from Canada?Oh, I thought you meant me Im always a sucker for a Virtual, and I certainly couldnt pass this one up today while visiting the nearby NGA.Answers sent, and heres my photo in front of that gifted night sky I happen to have a somewhat unique claim to fame: Ive seen, with my own eyes, both the southern cross and the North Star (both depicted and named here!) in the SAME night! Not easy!
Goldy is visiting Canberra with my friend "goldyscacheelf" for caching, museums and history.I have taken my foot off the pedal recently when it comes to caching. However, I have never been to the ACT before so the Territory is my cache oyster.I'm targeting the virtuals and highly favourited caches around the area.I did mostly caching today before heading back to the War Memorial again.I really enjoyed this. This is why need caches cos I would have completely missed this if it wasn't for the virtual here!Thank you for putting it here so I could come here.I have a geocacher friend who lives in Canada. So far away. Sad.Very cool artwork. Eh. Sorry. Moose!Answers sent and photo attached. Thanks Search 4 for this virtual cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 4185 on the 14th of July 2024.
1332 for the tribeWe spent this afternoon virtual hunting in the Parliamentary Triangle . Couldn't quite get through them all in the time we had, but 8 virtuals is not bad, we thought. A big thankyou to the COs for showing us places we had never seen before, for showing us the history of Australia and for giving us a good excuse for a good walk.Have visited this location on many occasions but have never paid any attention to this spot. A fascinating work of art and gift. Thanks for the cache!
Day 23 of my interstate trip. Today was my second day in Canberra and made my way around the Parliament House area on foot picking up what I could while doing a few tourist things as well.. I managed to find 20 caches today and only 1 DNF.I have met many Canadians over the years and can say I haven't met one I didn't like so great to see our 2 countries are in good relations as well.TFTC Search 4
We nearly rode past this one and had to double back. We counted the necessary features several time and hope we finally got it right.Answers sent. There was a bit of a break in the cold spell today and the sun was out much earlier and things warmed up, even though the temperature only got to 13 degrees. We had been keen to ride our bikes round Lake Burley Griffin so today was the day. We only made it to the Farmer's Market on our first attempt then had to return to the van with our purchases! With that done it was back out to firstly catch the tram into town and then the ride round the lake. On our way round we picked up a variety of caches, trads, multis, puzzles and quite a number of Virtuals. Some were straightforward while others challenging.Lunch at the National Portrait Gallery was welcome. We made it home just as the sun was settingThank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Search 4.**SKI Pair****
I came here because of the AL cluster and there were a few other caches for me to grab while I was walking around too. The weather is cold and my hoodie is not warm enough!A guy nearby is using his metal detector on the grass and hes found something. I dont know what it is and Im not game to ask. Hes got a bit of a crazy gleam in his eye and hes wearing shorts. Answers sent. Thanks for bringing me here! TFTC
This gift from Canada provokes thought. I love the symbolism in it, being interested in astronomy since very young. The explanation of the sculpture is great; simple and clear. Im so pleased I got to study this sculpture. Thanks for bringing me here search4.
An interesting spot and a good day for a lunch time study break and doggo wander. Makes sense the Canadians would have something good to contribute. Counted and then re counted twice just to make sure.
Ventured this way today and made a stopover here to complete the virtual. Interesting gift with meaning. Tftc
I managed to do this Virtual cache over two visits as silly me I forgot to get the answer to one of the questions. Thank you Search4 for this Virtual cache. I would have missed this had not been for the cache. I lived in Canada for a year so it was nice to be able to visit the gift.
Canberra Trip - Day #2 of 2 [29/4]Given that I weary from two days massive days, I decided to have a late start and even a sleep-in. Now that is very rare for me. Anyway once I did get going, I headed off to find some caches which fitted into some self-imposed challenges or were quick finds along the way. Once it was around lunch time I headed over to the Belconnen Mall for lunch and some shopping. My main mission was to buy UNO Show EM No Mercy and now I can say that, I own it. Mission accomplish. Afterwards, it was time to head home and I decided on finding one more cache which was along the way. It was a great couple of days away and now time to get home. TB visit. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTCs! Answers sent to CO. Given I was nearby this cache, I decided on finding it. I have walked past this gift a few times before but I hadn't actually stopped off to look at it. This cache gave me a reason to. After spending some time admiring the artwork, I got about getting the require Q&A's and Photo for logging this cache. Thanks so much for the great virtual cache and now off to the next one.
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Our time in Canberra is drawing to a close. today we headed in on the light rail with the geobikes to try and complete the bridges loop around Lake Burley Griffin. Wow awesome weather , chilly at the start but hot in the afternoon. Markets on so lots of muggles to add to the DT rating. Fantastic day, Mr F jumped on a boat to the Captain Cook Fountain. Plenty of memories and photos' from today.Answers sent.TFTC Search 4
There are lots of cool artworks and virtuals in Canberra. I love visiting here, theres so much to see. Its a shame we cant get here directly from Wellington any more. The transiting part is the most stressful, when you have to go through Customs and Immigration, and then get a bus to another terminal, and only have a hour! Thanks to Canada for this one. Photo attached, and Ill send the answers to the CO shortly. Thanks for bringing me here Search 4.
Found with sir_spectre while visiting Canberra for our damn we can't make the mega catch up trip.Answers sent by sir_spectre.Thanks
answers sent.Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.
Second day in Canberra and we visit the area around the old Parliament House. There were some ghosts for us to discover here. We diligently took pictures to document our visit. We would like to thank everyone who created a geocache. He made the day more interesting for us.

Well it is Canberra Geobash Mega time and Im spending 6 nights up here on the Mega site and also the ACT has put on some brilliant weather for us so far during the day.Well it is day 4 for me and it was a very fresh and chilly start to the morning for the 5am event.Back to the Mega site for a coffee then I was going to start with finding a few Virtuals for a challenge cache.Left site as the sun was coming up to beat the crowds. There was also plenty of parking around at this time of the morning.Plenty of people are starting to arrive in the area for a walk or maybe a coffeee.Still very foggy around here this morning and you could just make out the lake.Something different in the way of a gift from Canada. Thanks Search 4 TFTVC.
What an interesting virtual! I was a little worried about the math element, but it was easier than I thought. I have attached a photo.

A Gift From Canada - Virtual Reward 3.02.5/1.0 Virtual Virtual Cache Thank you for the cache Search 4.1 April 2024 12:14pm
Yay. Mega week has finally arrived. Didnt get much caching done at the hometown Adelaides Leap Year Mega. The minute it was announced I booked my single room. Then, muggle husband decided he wanted to come. Mmm. We all know that means .. less caching, so targets had to be sought. But at least theres a vehicle. This cache is a target. Mostly challenges and virtuals (to meet another challenge of course)Gotta love a smiley face on the map. Thankyou for placing and maintaining it.
Found 31 Mar 2024 at 3:28:59pmOut and about on a cycling tour of part of Lake Burley Griffin with Team_Crumble in a beautiful sunny day. We cycled about 20km today, picking up a few caches as we went. Many thanks to Search 4 for placing A Gift From Canada - Virtual Reward 3.0 for us all to find
The ACT is not a place that we have had the opportunity to visit so this trip was well looked forward to. The caching here is different, the puzzles are hard and the terrain's are scary for a lot of them. Thankfully we are traveling with other cachers who have the TOTTs that are needed. TFTV
Woo Hoo I discovered 'A Gift From Canada" today while in Canberra for the Capital GeoBash. Thanks Search 4 for setting up this virtual, I'd have missed this Gift if it wasn't for searching for local caches while out riding my bike around Lake Burley Griffin. Answers have been messaged through.PS: The Troll Dolls [TN6TR0] were with me on my great caching adventures today.
This is a pretty cool gift.Made for some intersting reading.Gave me enough time to take the relvant notes.Answers given a thumbs up.TFTV

As part of the tour group, we walked a ton of miles and signed all the caches as LT2. Answers have been sent to the CO and photo is attached. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:Today was day 3 of my time in Canberra for the GeoBash Mega from the U.S. and getting to spend time with my friends. Hooray! It was another day that started with an awesome tour around Lake Burley Griffin. The weather was warm and the cachers were friendly. We were led by tankengine, one of the cachers who had a hand in the gadget caches at the mega, has awesome mysteries and other caches in the area. He kept us moving the entire time and we were able to get all the caches on our list. Then I attended the mega which was a lot of fun. There were so many people! The gadget caches were amazing, the adventure labs were fun, and the evening get together for trivia was a blast. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.
In Canberra to attend the Capital Geo Bash mega event. I attended the Queanbeyan Mega event a couple of years ago which is when I did a lot of the touristy things. This trip was more focused on Geocaches. There has been an abundance of new high quality caches published since my last visit so more than enough to keep me busy. I was up early and set off in the dark. Answers collected and obligatory photo taken. Thank you Search 4, for placing A Gift From Canada - Virtual Reward 3.0 for the geocaching community.# # #14333 # #

On a MEGA day today with eldest geokid as he clocks up about 9 hours in his Learners Logbook. We had a lot of fun just picking up whatever semi-random caches we felt like before attending the [Geobash](https://coord.info/GL1BRA49R) in time for the Lackey/ Reviewers workshop. We bumped into a few teams out there today including a team from Narrogin WA. A good day but were wrecked! We novos have extended family who are Canadians, with lady novo even having lived in the country for years at a time in a former life. Aussies and Canadians do share a lot in common. We do feel quite sorry for them ATM though as a lying criminal fascist regime currently holds power there under Trudeau; something we don't quite have in common with them, not yet anyway. TFTC, Search 4.#1950
Out and about as part of the Capital Geobash Lake Burley Griffin walking tour. It was very busy today. Thank you to Search 4 for the virtual
Mr CNQ was here around 10pm on Saturday night towards the end of a 14hr caching day. It was quite a mild evening even for someone who has lived in north Queensland since 1997. There was an interesting of combination of latino / modern dance music coming a nearby boat, lakes echo well. Collected information by torch light and conjured a dodgy picture of the centre of the feature with a GPSR and notepad via torchlight, using most of the caching tools on hand. The phone was unable to reconcile flashlight and take a photo/night photo modes. Interesting learning about the Canadian gift, thanks for the virtual cache Search 4.
Found while attending the Mega and out with the tour group at Lake Burley Griffin. A great day out. Log signed for the group as LT2Another great day for caching. ?? TFTC Search 4

Day 17 of our roadtrip in Australia. Today we're mostly exploring Canberra, dropping by at the mega later in the afternoon. Had quite a lot of fun there yesterday already ??. The city looks quite interesting the way it is built, looking forward to explore the parliament and all the other institutions within the triangle. Still walking in the National Triangle, now approaching the lake again. Great place, a bar is calling us. Answered the questions for this virtual before sitting down for a beer with a view.
