We have been to Wangaratta a number of times in the recent past, but seemed to have missed this sculpture tucked into its location. Thank you for bringing us here to see it on a flying trip through town. Certainly an interesting piece of work.Answers sent.Another trip to Tumut to catch up with family and collect some of our grandchildren who will be visiting for the New South Wales school holidays. We can never resist the opportunity to do some caching in our travels and this trip was no different. We focused on a few areas in and managed to complete a number of Ad Labs as well as traditionals, multis and puzzles. A couple of Virtuals in Wangaratta were an added bonus. We always enjoy searching with our grandchildren who managed to find a number before we did.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Harrowang.**SKI Pair****

Mrs Woodyrothwell and I are holidaying in Wangaratta for the week so we can hit a few King Valley wineries looking for some magical Prosecco. We had been to our first for a tasting and had just checked into our hotel.Travelling from Brisbane we had an extra hour up our sleeves because we are too backwards for daylight savings in Queensland. Yet somehow with all the travel we felt like we were an hour short. We looked at each other and said pour some bubbles and get dinner organised. So we walked down the main drag of Wang to find some dinner. Its OK, I check with a local whether it was alright to use this name. He said as Queenslanders we could use it, but if we were from New South Wales that nothing spawned from hell could save us (and we agreed). We definitely had the timing wrong because nothing was open yet so we posed for a photo for this virtual. Maybe by the time we finish this bottle of bubbles (or the next) places to eat will be open. Answer sent. tftc

We were heading to Canberra for our second Mega in as many months, and when you are driving a long way, it is wise to break up your drive to prevent driver fatigue. With this in mind, we stopped quite a bit on the journey to find a good number of caches and endeavoured to get closer to qualifying for more Challenge caches. We will use some relatively generic logs with the sheer number of logs we need to complete after the Mega. We are tired and have insufficient brain power to do much more than that.We would like to thank all the cache owners for placing the caches for us to find, and unless otherwise noted, we found all caches in excellent condition.Thank you, Harrowang for this Virtual cache.

This was a cool statue. It was a little dicey getting across the street and staying away from the cars driving in and out of the parking structure, but not too bad. My answers has been sent to the CO. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:Today I continued my month long journey from the U.S. along the east coast of Australia!! I was on my way to Canberra for the GeoBash mega and reuniting with the Aussie friends I left behind when I left Adelaide almost a month ago. I had a a shorter list than usual in hopes of getting to Canberra by early afternoon. I think I found all that I sought, but either way, it was a successful run north. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.

This trip is the...ADELAIDE MEGA TRIP ??This cache-which challenge/ why???LGA??can't pass a virtual ??leg stretch ??Had a great time catching up with friends and caching ourselves silly at the Mega in Adelaide and now I'm wandering home to Brisbane.Had planned to go to a few places in the high country but a big storm sent me running for more open spaces. Hadn't been able to come to the Mega here so it was a new playground for me. Scanning the map I noticed an event on this evening as well as four virtuals and a couple of solved puzzles so I put the skates on to see what I could get done before the event. Managed to park nearby and scooted over to find the answer and take my happy snap. TFTC??

What an interesting position for such a unique work of nature art.I do wonder whether instead of the entrance/exit of a carpark such a magnificent specimen couldn't be more regally situated. ??Thank you harrowang for bringing to my attention this glorious piece with a virtual cache, and congratulations on winning a virtual reward! ??Captured with Cobwebs. ??

The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we went for a walk from our caravan park to explore the town on foot, completing some Adlabs and finding any caches we passed along the way. The description for this virtual cache made for an interesting read and Im glad we stopped to take a look. In the afternoon we drove out to explore Mullinmur Billabongs which was a lovely quiet spot. Unfortunately we didnt see any platypus while we were there but we did find a cache. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.

I'd spent 2 nights in Wangaratta as a group of us were doing the HSS series before it was archived. So I walked up to this just before breakfast on our final day before heading back to Melbourne. A strange place to put this I thought.

Lady Thrips was taking a bit longer in the shops than anticipated, but this gave us some more time to attempt one of my favorite cache types. This is an amazing sculpture. Thanks for placing a virtual cache here for us to find.

Called in here a few days ago but only just got around to sending my answers. This sculpture has been in the background of my life for a long long time but I’d never known who the artist was. I guess I never was interested but I’ve always thought it was a worthy piece of art.
Thanks indeed Harrowang

**Virtual Find #50**

I made a point of walking to all the Virtual caches in Wangaratta so as to get my daily step count up. I certainly did that. This cache is an excellent example of something that I would never have known about if it wasn't for geocaching. I had to time my photo just right because it was a busy place during the morning. The sun wasn't in a very good spot for this photo, but I did the best I could.

**Thank-you to Harrowang for placing this geocache**

But is it Art?
They say art is subjective
I am impressed that's it's lasted 40+ years and that it has been carved out of wood but..
Does it make me happy -No
Is it appealing to my eyes...hmm nope would prefer to look at a real tree.
. Subjective.
But thanks for this Virtual Harrowong.. they are fast becoming a must do as I visit various towns

Finally heading home after attending the Mega Event at Rutherglen I stopped here at Wangaratta to get a few more caches before finally moving on. I must admit getting caches today was a matter of dodging the rain showers. Fortunately while was here it was not raining. A nice piece of wood used in this carving.

Stopped to get the virtual as we passing doing the A - Z challenge and some lab stages. Answers sent.
Found with JAMS (( JJ52, Allister w, Mogni, plus sir_spectre ) Mitchell&hound wasn't with us this trip) crew. All logs stamped as JAMS to save log space. This trip we are off to the Rutherglen Mega and then slowly coming back to S.A. for a total of 8 dys and 7 nights. The targets of this trip are for JJ52 to get 11 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and a few more Victorian LGA's, Allister W was targeting 17 virtuals ( or as many as he could get ) a few more Victorian LGA's Mogni to make the Rutherglen Mega her 20, 000 find and also for her to complete all Victoria LGA's, sir_spectre needs 1 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and get his Victoria LGS's down to 2 LGA's left. We got 20 or more finds in a LGA if we stayed in there over night. We also detoured to stamp any challenge caches that we were " in the general area off " and to complete that challenge before we came back to S.A. This meant that some times dirt road (s) had to be walked down because they were to wet to drive down and/or haven't been repaired since last years flooding. We started off the holiday in the rain and then that cleared up only to start raining and a overnight thunder storm but most of the trip was dry. Over 600 caches found for the trip including over 120 lab stages in that total. Got to complete the GPS Maze at the Rutherglen Mega for a 2nd time. Allister w was the team driver for all of the Victorian part of the trip. I think this was the first trip ever to Victoria that the extension pole didn't get used but the 6.2 meter ladder did get a work out.

The JAMS team (JJ52 allister w, mogni and sir_spectre) were on a road trip heading to the Rutherglen Mega event (staying in Corowa) for 3 days then winding our way home via Albury, Wangaratta, Bendigo and various other places in between. It was a great week with many more caches found than we expected. There were targeted caches, challenge caches, Ad Labs, events and various others to fulfill various statistics for the four of us. We were lucky with the weather, it rained a bit on our way over on Friday, then half a day after we left Wangaratta but on the whole it was great caching weather. We did drive a few slippery muddy roads, but nothing too bad. We also caught up with lots of people either at events or out in the field and enjoyed many great chats. All in all a fun time with lots of Victoria explored and then very tired when I arrived home. [^]Big Grin

We are now caching around Wangaratta finding caches to meet the A-Z challenge along with a few others. Big Grin

Answer sent by sir_spectre and approval given. Big Grin

Thanks for the cache Harrowang. Smile

One last pass through Wangaratta on our way to Melbourne airport. Apologies to all the Aussies who were horrified at the way I pronounced the name of this place, I've been practising doing it properly since I learned the error of the of my ways. Wang as in bang, got it. I loved the art and architecture of the city.
A great sculpture by a great sculptor. Thanks for making sure we didn't pass by without looking Smile.

The SPINZ team is on their way to the airport and back home after an awesome time at the Rutherglen Mega. But of course we decide we have time to stop for a few additional Labs in Wangaretta on the way and this virtual as well. Lovely piece of tree - it must've been a special one. We've been at the Rutherglen mega, and headed this afternoon to Bendigo, we didn't have alot of time, so prioritised trigs and virtuals, and maybe any *really* cool DTs for the trip.
We didn't have our eyes on the ball here. We parked to go for the GA trig over the road, when Samuel noted The Wave was right there, maybe 10m away. I won't say no to that! Thanks, what a great sculpture too..... TFTC!
