Great view from up here if Charters Towers and surrounding countryside. Thanks for bringing us here
After making it to the Northernmost point of Australia from Melbourne we are now on the return journey south. Currently camped near Charters Towers and exploring this area. After a trip to the Weir we headed to Towers Hill. The history and the views up here were amazing. TF placing this cache for us to complete on our travels.
A late night arrival into town last night, I left this cache until this morning, before heading out for further adventures. On this overcast, warmish and windy morning I picked this cache above all others in town ... and headed up the hill. The view of this beautiful town was absolutely lovely. As eagles hovered and dove nearby, I snapped a few shots for a smiley.I will be back to spend more time appreciating the gorgeous architecture of this lovely little town.TFTC ...
Its been 12 years since we travelled through Charters Towers and a trip up the hill is definitely worth a return visit. Looks like a lot of work has been done on the walking tracks which is a plus. While on the viewing platform chatted to a local who told us of his time working in the Ravenswood open cut mine.Photo looking through the yellow frame with one of our Specialized cycling caps is attached.

Amazing view from here. Enjoyed reading all the history displays. Thanks for bring me up here.
Such a beautiful place to spend some time. A different view each way you turn, all equally stunning. Forgot to add our name tot he photo but thats us!! *The generic bit for this trip*We are on our way north for warmer weather. From Victoria to Cooktown, weaving inland and to the coast, caching as we go. No real plans, just taking each day as it comes and enjoying the adventure in our converted ambulance. Thanks to all COs for placing and maintaining caches for our enjoyment.
Found while out killing time as it was raining and with a break in the rain enjoyed this cache thank you
Took Florence Bay Rover Crew up Towers Hill, and did some geocaching while we were there.
Cache find 15,000!Observed the no vans sign so parked at the bottom and walked up. The exercise was good and got to see how much history is up here on the way. Bunkers across the hills in all directions. Stop for a few closer cachers, and poked in a few buildings for a look along the way. Great views and a worthy stop.
On the trip to Townsville from Emerald, we stopped in some towns along the way.Fav from meHere's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache Cachedin NQ.
TFTC, pictured is my cache log stamp in the yellow frame. Well worth the visit and the history of the site is amazing
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. Started on the 17th September in Cairns. Our plan is driving.along the eastcoast down. Then in the south on to Adelaide and from there ending the 31th October in Alice Springs.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case Cachedin NQ, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
On my roundtrip along Australia with Oopie we are douing always some caches. All COs thanks for bringing us on this nice places and making this caches.
We're back in Charters Towers for a few days and decided to head over this way to grab a few of the caches here that have a high number of favorite points. There were no car parks available nearby so while M turned the car around, I dashed out to get the obligatory photo.

Departed Melbourne several weeks ago now and have been travelling north for the winter, well, for the northern warmth actually (hopefully ), passing through as many small towns as I can grabbing the odd cache here and there as I travel.
Finally made the northern warmth and the Cape and we have loved every minute of it now we are on our way home again and having many more adventures as we slowly travel south.
Spending a few extra days in Townsville now due to a cracked chassis and tow bar mount, due to get fixed this week before we can move on again.
Out on a day trip today heading from Townsville to Charters Towers and back grabbing caches here there and everywhere
Great views and a perfect spot for lunch!

I've never been to CT before so a trip to the lookout was mandatory. What amazing views, even though they were a tad hazy, and at 09:30, I was taking a selfie for the 'find'. Well worth a fave point.
Thanks Cachedin NQ.

Return visit to charters after many years. The views are still a highlight. TFTV
Apologies for the late log here (25.12.23) but I've had a mad time since getting back to the UK.That's a pretty town from up here, and well worth the detour to visit and admire it. Thanks for bringing me to see it from this elevated angle.TNLN-Virtual. TFTVC!SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.

Day 1 of a trip around middle QLD. Grabbed this one on the way out of Townsville before stopping at Hughenden for the night . This was a super interesting spot with lots of great info, I especially liked exploring the bunkers and was very glad I did not come across any of the unexploded munitions! TFTC
Random geocaching on a visit to Qld from Perth WA TFTC and see the world geocaching
I was in town with some friends for a mini conference and was able to rope them into coming up here to get the earth-cache with me on our lunch break. TFTC
Since my last visit to the area just before last Easter’s Mega, 39 new hides had been calling me to return. I’d been saving them for a ‘rainy day’ which came in the form of the final (and still tedious) Signal labyrinth challenge.
With the Mrs roped in for company (and to take the driving duties for the survivor series) we set out to collect the remaining range caches before heading through the back door to the Towers.
Took in the nice view for approximately 3 seconds before getting to business.
Thanks Cachedin NQ for getting me off the couch.

What a wonderful view! Here in Charters Towers through default as we should be heading down the east coast but flooding sent us inland. A quick visit this morning before heading south - wish us luck! Tftc
Floods and road closures are playing havoc with our travel plans. An unexpected stop in Charters House and some caches as a bonus. TFTC Cachedin NQ
Last time I was in Charters Towers, there was no virtual caches here. As we still had time in the day, Konie and I made our way here. We admired the view and took photos. Thanks for bringing me back here....and TFTC

Such gorgeous views up here! I’m not sure if I’ve done this correctly, or whether I was supposed to find a set of cords written somewhere, but I have attached a photo of Mr Swampdevil in the yellow frame!
I visited this site with CybergranV and Pilot, whilst travelling from Cairns to Melbourne. Pilot is relocating to a cooler climate, in Melbourne, after living on the Tablelands for some years. The weather was ideal for our visit today, with sunshine and a gentle breeze. The views over the town are impressive, and we enjoyed our short time here.
Thank you Cachein NQ. Without this cache, we probably would not have driven up here.

Such a beautiful day to be up here! Read some of the history and took in the fabulous views. Pic is of Daisy Moo who travels in my car, she is holding down a hastily scrawled note with my caching name and the date on it with help from my car keys!

Lots of people (&dogs) exercising this morning - I have to wonder why people walk backwards up a hill - frontwards is bad enough :0
Such lovely views and lots of pretty faced wallabies catching some early morning sunshine to warm themselves up. So many black and whistling kites wheeling on the thermals too. Thanks for bringing us here.

The council sure has invested a lot of money in this little hill. There were plenty of people walking up today, but we chose the easy option .
As for the photo, you said creative, and if you look hard, you can see my GPSr in my right hand.

Thank you for placing the virtual here. What a great view and a great memory of Charters Towers.
Travelling around Qld whilst waiting for our new home to be built. Left Cairns, stayed Mena Creek and then Charters Towers. Heading to Mackay in the morning. So we checked out Towers Hill Lookout and collected a few smilies on the way. 2 ladies were sitting where we needed to be, so after reading all the information, I had to tell them what we were doing. They found the game interesting as they took our photo and we explained different aspects.
Thanks for the opportunity.

A quick trip out to Charters Towers and just time to get up to this fantastic lookout before legging it back to Townsville for the flight home. Thanks for the virtual cache!
We visited this great lookout on our trip from Townsville to Shepparton.
The view was fantastic and the site memorable for a couple of reasons.
Thanks Cachedin NQ for taking us there. The local history was very well presented.

Finally at the top, or am I? Photo attached. Highly recommend the walk from the start of the Wherigo. Beautiful on a winter's day.
What a view! Amazing place and info boards to add to our learning experience. In fact, we came back up for moon rise and sunset. TFTV

Got off to a late start to do some caching around Charters Towers with ilook4geo. It was quiet around town being Anzac Day. No problem in doing this cache. Thanks for the view, at least what we could see in all the rain.
Just doing a bit of caching today with goingplaces2 when it was not raining too hard. Sometimes we had to stop, so didn't get to do as many as we would have liked. A bit less rain when we came here. TFTC.
A virtual on the top of tower hill!
We spent quite a few hours wandering up-and-down and over the areas here, and walked quite a few kilometres along the way. All of it very interesting.
Prior to arriving in charters towers, we had no knowledge of its role in World War II. While we were walking, we also did some searching on the Internet to find out a little more historic information about the area as well.
This is a great placement for a virtual.
Thanks Cachedin NQ. A favourite point here. Such an interesting location in so many ways.
Thanks
