Find number 14537 at 7:46:00am on Saturday the 26 October 2024We're on our way to WA Goes Big, travelling from Croydon (Melbourne, Victoria) with a caravan in tow and making a leisurely caching holiday across the Nullarbor and back.Well, WA Goes Big is done for another year and we are on our way home again now, via Perth, Kalgoorlie and the Nullarbor but slowly over the next five weeks Today I was up early to chase an FTF and a couple of other significant caches before returning to camp to get the misses out of bed I'm tempted to put a cache out there in Victoria in such a location that SA is to the east, north, west AND south.**Thanks for placing this cache Doctor Owl**---*WOW, so much happening at home in Victoria*Dont forget to log your will attend for Victorias first ever Block Party in March 2025, the [**The Sunbury Event**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).Theres also all those lists of amazing geocaches at [Geocaching Victorias List webpage]( https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists), go check them out.
Found by The Empire + HAfter leaving Headings Cliffs, we continued our journey toward Klein's Border, the spot marking the boundary between South Australia and Victoria. The drive took us through rolling farmlands and stretches of native bush, the road winding gently as we approached the state line. The further we went, the more remote the landscape became, with only the occasional farmhouse or small settlement breaking up the vastness. As we neared Klein's Border, the landscape seemed to shift slightly. The low hills flattened out, and the terrain became more arid, with dry grasses swaying in the breeze. The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows over the fields and turning the scene golden in the late afternoon light. Thanks for the cache Doctor Owl.-MVirtual #261
Today's quest is to cross 3 borders, from Burra to Menindee. Just drove the 110kms out to the SA/NSW border. NSW didn't bother with a welcome sign but there is a geocache. Next stop is the SA/VIC sign, then VIC/NSW.TFTVC
Found this cache whilst on our two month adventure throughout central Australia and remote parts of WA.Having just been to MacCabes cnr, here we were looking out over it again. Answer sent to CO.Thanks to all the COs for adding to our adventure. TFTC
I always enjoy a border crossing cache. This was our target cache for today! The kids loved wandering around and jumping for state to state! TFTC
Found the spot fairly quickly as I have been here before . Wasnt quite sure exactly how to pose and point but was definitely here. Thank you, Doctor Owl; cache #4334.
I was here marshalling for a cycle race. Great spot an nice to get a virtual just for being here.Photo attached
Out and about caching today in Renmark and district. Arrived at GZ and found cache. Signed log. TFTC
After spending the morning in kayaking to MacCabe Corner, we headed back toward our caravan park in Paringa in convoy with Wollaston and HansandLinda. Detouring this way to grab just a few other caches wasn't *too* much out of our way. I find the border situation here just a little weird! But that may just be because I'm a draftsman and I have a thing about straight lines Thanks for find #5755TNLN
With it being a cooler day today after the heat wave we decided to head up to your interesting virtual. Road conditions were excellent. Thanks Dr Owl.
After a week of caching around Adelaide incorporating The Great Leap Forward event, HansandLinda, MeandDe and I are working our way towards Canberra. At Paringa for a couple of days of rest and maintenance. We had a couple of target caches today at MacCabes Corner and grabbed this one on our way back to camp. Another great day for caching. TFTC Doctor Owl
TFTC Doctor Owl your cache Klein Border that we found today. We are camped in Paringa for a few days with Wollaston and MeandDe. A plan was hatched to attempt The virtual and the multi at MacCabe Corner. After kayaking upon and back we loaded the cars and slowly made our way back to Paringa. Not without finding a few caches along the way.We stopped here to wonder at the vagaries of borders and the people that make the decisions. The configuration makes no logical sense. It is what it is we suppose. Will add the group photo in due course.Find Count: 19068
Had a lot of fun exploring the backroads out here, checked out the border from many different perspectives and eating the dust as we went! This was the next stop, I enjoyed reading the description and learning why the border is the way it is! Very interesting and a good spot to highlight, thanks for the write-up!We then took our pictures before grabbing the traditional nearby and heading off another direction to continue our loop! Thanks Doctor Owl, answer sent via PM and pic uploaded
Made it to this unique virtual cache location. Loci612 will be sending the answer to the question for us both. Thanks for the amazing Adventure getting to and from this cache.
Were pleasantly surprised at the good condition of these back roads at present and are enjoying our jaunt around the countryside. We stopped and worked out which direction we should be facing and had a good think about that. Its pretty amazing actually. Thank you for this cache.
Stopped here before starting the Border Track with a group of friends. Thanks Doctor Owl for this virtual
I visited this Virtual cache as I headed home to Adelaide after the QOGM events around Longreach. The plan was to be away for about a month. I travelled up to Longreach via Broken Hill, Cunnamulla, Charleville and Barcaldine, camping and finding caches of interest along the way. I am heading back home via Brisbane and the NSW coast to Sydney, then across to Adelaide. However my plans are pretty loose and subject to change, often on a whim! The weather so far has been good, albeit a little warm at times. I am hoping it stays good for the rest of the trip.I have had to be quite selective with the caches I have found as there are so many that I am passing. As a result I have mostly targeted non-traditional cache types, although I have also grabbed a few Trads opportunistically here and there. Thanks Doctor Owl for the cache, which has contributed to an interesting and enjoyable trip.
Our journey to North Queensland will take us through and stay for a few days in many different towns.
Here's one to find today. Thank you for placing the cache Doctor Owl.

Thought we'd take off a different way and see some sights! Purrfect Di made sure we brought the cameras too! Jack helped a bit.
Yay the first cache for a while that wasn't under water!!!
Much deja vu as we'd done the nearby trad cache about six years back.
Di was shy so she snapped me selling the border wall concept... that's all we need, a wall for the Mexicans Number sent to the doctor.
Much thanks to Doctor Owl for placing and maintaining this cache on our ever growing SA geo-map

Exploring wherever we can - searching, spotting hidden items and signing cache logs using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just a guess or plain old dumb luck
Plenty of the luck stuff actually !!!
*Almost all the online logs are composed and published with GSAK of course.*
---
Beware ! Caching is a very hazardous activity!
Look out for sand, mud, floodwaters, snakes, surprise cliffs, roos, wombats, things falling from trees, bulldust, and floods, and try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall off your ladder...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- and do watch out for bugs !!! . [xx(]
Ensure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on (Covid cancels caching!)
Keep a safe distance - cache the countryside
Great of all those placing quality caches out and about around the country areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game fun, and interesting
We do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, apparently! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and we can put an end to these long logs !!!
C'est Fini.

Answers sent for all of us by Budgie.
On our way to the mega and went via SA just so we could finish off the OYB series, We did these with TT and marked our territory with a stamp that said Team Tassie, most of the caches we found in good order and those couple that weren't we fixed up as best we could with what we had to hand.
All found now well till some more come out anyway!
Another year, another Victorian Mega, so where do we fly into, Adelaide like you do, after a few days in the city we ventured out into the wilds of SA before heading Northeast towards the border (You remember the name of the town, don't you?) before crossing over we teamed up with Tassie Trekkers and we all finished off the OYB series.
Our attempts at a few caches as we moved South that were near rivers were as half expected we were thwarted by floods so we didn't get to those but added the odd on in here and there.
At long last we arrived in Whittlesea for the Mega late in the evening of Friday 11th and after a quick event headed to our accommodation for the next few days. While in the area we explored the area finding caches all over the place and we even got to meet up with our Victorian ex Tassie cacher 1Toolman who traveled up from down South to join us for the day
Thanks for the cache.

We made it, but where are we? In South Australia, Victoria or the the other bit of South Australia? Technically we haven't crossed a border yet so we're still here!
Thanks for bringing us here Doctor Owl
We separated from Tassie Trekkers today with Budgie, SSR and I heading along the Murray toward Mildura and surrounds today. The high river levels prevented us from getting many of our chosen caches but we still found some good ones and enjoyed the day.
It’s become a tradition to fly to a Mega via somewhere else so Stainless steel rat, budgietas and I flew from Hobart to Adelaide a week before the big event and, after a few days around the city, worked our way up along the Murray (where we could due to flooding) via Waikerie, Mildura, Swan Reach and Echuca before heading down through Shepparton to Whittlesea where we caught up, and cached with, a few other teams including Whitewebbs, 1toolman and icybeetas.

Staying at Berri we have been exploring the area and surrounds and today we ventured out here to the border track.
Snapped required pic and enjoyed our visit to this location.
Many thanks Doctor Owl for creating this virtual and highlighting this area.

This was a nice quick and easy cache to do while out on a caching trip with ilook4geo and Geologic2. The numbers needed have been sent to the CO and we could see where SA is - over there! Thanks for this virtual cache go to Doctor Owl.
Visited Klein Border as part of a group with goingplaces2 and geologic2. This is an interesting part of the border and we noted the craziness of it all. Thanks for creating this virtual cache.
Came along here with geocaching friends. This was our first virtual cache. We enjoyed travelling through this area. TFTVC.
We entered SA today to claim this find and visit customs house.
Nice to be the passenger today catching up on logs.
Not our first time here but our first below 40 degrees. Ha.

Had to read the instructions here VERY carefully and yet we still couldnt really agree on which direction we should be pointing. [B)]

Staying in Renmark for a short holiday, using caching as a guide as to where we travel. 41 caches were found along and around the state border. This cache is one that was found today.
Think we have taken bronze on this virtual, hard to tell if anyone has visited between the last finder and us. Cool little spot here on the border. Enjoying our drive along here and sightseeing. Answer to task 2 sent to CO, all good here. Thanks for giving us a reason to stop here.
Find #4258 on 18 Jul 2022.

Joint 2TF with catnap777 on our loopy loop trip from Tatura (North Central Victoria) to a Community Celebration Event in Mildura travelling via Bordertown and Renmark, then down to Ouyen the next day and home via SwanHill. We even tickled the tip of Victoria by finding its Northern most cache along the way and 2TF on this fascinating Virtual on our way back down to the Sturt Highway.
Calling the "Mexican" side of the border home, it was pleasing to look East from South Australia over our "Rightly Won Territory" back into the distant lands of those who dared try to steal it back from us.
Standing here with my partner, I felt very proud to be a "Victoy-an".
TFTC Doctor Owl. I have posted the obligatiry pic of both catnap777 and I at GZ here with my log, and cat' is sending you the required info from our visit before posting her log hoping this will suffice to seal the deal for Joint 2TF.

As all the formalities have been dealt with pertaining to logging requirements, I shall gladly post a smiley for this Virtual positioned in a very angst provoking, though most beautiful part of the world .
I was a Victorian then I became a New South Welshman (Woman), then I became a Victorian again, hoping to one day call myself a Tasmanian . I am by no means one eyed as I love every part of Australia .
Thank you Doctor Owl for this virtual.
By the way, I love Owls and I have one tattooed on my forearm .
