On our way to south we stopped in this little city for coffeebreak. We also had a short walk to visit this virtual! Thanks for the virtual!Greetings from Finland!
I recently found out that my company offers a "Wellness Day" program, which essentially gives each employee an extra annual leave day to specifically take a day off for a mental health break. Well I also found out that if I didn't take mine by the end of November, that I would forfeit it. So I desperately started planning when I could take my mental health day and with the snuggle muggle attending a conference until late tonight, today seemed to be the perfect day to do so.So with an entire free day and night I figured I should take full advantage of it and attempt to find some caches that were a bit further out of my normal caching radius. Well this year I have been actively attempting to fill in some missing months for my AUSMER and with an entire day free I figured [the Nomad's](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=16d052bc-8e90-4546-b4fa-1006c6b1f8ef&wid=b2c69374-8806-4c87-b2d5-037ea9dae103&ds=2) [The Billy Goat's Gruff (GC47B)](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC47B) would be the perfect target for the day as it is the only active cache in Victoria that was hidden in March 2001, a month I still needed for my AUSMER.So after finding that cache I then slowly stated my journey back to Melbourne via the A1/M1 and figured I would break up the drive back by finding any Virtuals or Earthcaches along the way that were only slight detours. So when I saw that I was going to be passing by this Virtual on my way back to the A1, I knew I had to stop and find it. I always love a good Virtual as I feel like they usually take me to interesting places or highlight interesting things, this Virtual included.I found it quite fascinating reading up on some of the history of the area and I had no idea that Sale was originally called Flooding Creek, an interesting bit of trivia indeed. So a big thanks goes to [Scrappy_1](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=72834a44-31b3-4ce2-9793-95f6f9c3c659&wid=14ac670d-3fb4-4d0d-91e5-586dde5793bf&ds=2) for highlighting this interesting location for me to explore today. TFTC.
We were able to do this cache with goingplaces2. The muggle workers nearby were only interested in their own conversation, not what we were doing. TFTC.
This was another easy virtual cache done with ilook4geo. Not sure what the road workers in the middle of the intersection thought we were doing. Joint answer was sent to the CO. Thanks for this virtual cache go to Scrappy_1.
Answers sent to the cache owner for review and approval. Interesting details.Cleaning up Victoria with gridge98. We are on a mission this week. Completing twenty finds in Mexican local government areas is the challenge. Another find with the correct criteria. It is in Victoria and we have not accumalated twenty finds in this local government area.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is Thor's day the seventeenth day of the octavus month of the Roman calendar in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was a bit windy today. It was so windy today. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. Some interesting history here. Travelling around Victoria with Freddo for a week finding caches as we go. With two challenges on our radar we were in full force. All logs signed with our names or F+g98 for the smaller caches. Thanks for the cache
Nice town. Nice bit of history which we enjoyed as we traveled around the outback and Eastern side of AUS tftc
Thanks for bringing this history for me and others to learn more of SaleTFTC
What a beautiful sunny winter day, too pretty to be visiting such a sombre place. Wonder how the residents feel and whether their houses have any echoes of the past? I love these historic virtuals and appreciate the respect shown to cache placement and type. Fav point for the history and location which I would never have found otherwise.
A lovely day for caching as we headed towards Lakes Entrance. We stopped off here to find out a little more about the Cemetery. Thanks to Scrappy_1 for this Virtual cache. We have sent our answer to the CO.Such a sunny day after a very cold start.
I was surprised and somewhat disappointed to find this location. What should have been a place of respect and peace was a suburban street corner. At least the sign is there to mark the location and the story on the information board is interesting. Thanks for bringing us here and making me think.
Found today after a quick visit to Sale. The photo shows my pathtag with my caching teddy- Miss Chief- on it. TFTC
Quick trip to Sale for the exhibition at the art gallery. Got this on the way to the railway station. Many thanks
Thanks for the Cache Scrappy_1, imagine, this town was once called Flooding Creek back in the 1800s, it sure would have made it easier Googling goods and services back then.. ( try Googling "Target Sale").The location of the Cemetery was destined to be in the wrong place, a Cemetery is always the dead centre of town.Regards from Victourer
Driving through Sale I took the opportunity to visit this Flooding Creek Cemetery Virtual cache. Thank you Scrappy1 for setting this up as it brought some local history to my attention.
Find 3276What an interesting piece of local history.Walked down to the plaque. Thanks for your virtual
We were passing through Sale today on our way to Lakes Entrance on a few days caching starting from today, ANZAC Day. So we had to take advantage of doing this Virtual. This was a nice quick and easy location with good and clear information. We are posting our photo along with our find as required and about to send our answers to the CO.TFTC
Never been to Sale before and apart from the graffiti on this sign we are very impressed with how neat the town is.
We had time to stop by this virtual and read a little of the history in this area. Thanks for placing this cache.
Always love a cemetery!Caching around on the road trip that encompasses Barrington Tops, Sydney, the Easter Geobash Mega in Canberra then the return via who knows where to homeThanks Scrappy_1 for contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy.
Good yo get back to Ssle and poke around! Found on the Mega Capital Geobash coastal loop via Adelaide - Barrington - coast to Mexico City loop. A lot of caches and white line fever was sweated out. Thanks Scrappy_1 and clear skies from TeamAstro. Cache the planet! Heading to Canberra for the Mega Event, we called by here for a look. Thanks for introducing us to this history, Scrappy 1.
YAY - I found the information for Flooding Creek this afternoon while travelling from one end of Gippsland to the other. I hadn't realised that Sale was originally called Flooding Creek and that this area was the sight for the first cemetery - thanks Scrappy 1 for the history lesson - how things have changed.PS: The Troll Dolls [TN6TR0] were with me on my great caching adventures today.
On a road trip to attend Capital Geobash Mega and see many different sights along the way. Can't pass up a virtual. Thanks Scrappy_1 for creating for us all to enjoy. Interesting history. After staying at Blores Hill campground near Heyfield overnight, we spent the day travelling through Maffra, Sale, Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance and across to Tostaree Cottage farmstay just east of Nowa Nowa, sightseeing and finding a few caches along the way. Thanks for the Virtual cache Scrappy_1!
GAP YEAR BIG LAP - PART 2: THE ROAD TRIP - Day 46Visiting Sale on our way from the lakes to the beach in the Gippsland region. Liked the catch phrase " I found the Middle of Everywhere" but they really should put the region name on the stickers too for a bit of tourism marketing for those not from the immediate area. Visited the wharf and the water tower & this Flooding Creek area info somewhere in between. Had a nice picnic at the botanic gardens afterward.#4021 @ 1221hTFTC Scrappy_1 ??
Found with Crafty Dusty and the geopooches on our lap around Australia. Love anything cemetery related, so thanks for bringing us here!
As a once in a lifetime holiday, this year we are traveling for 7 weeks to Vietnam, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. In Australia we meet Ellen Sch and MrVon sr and Ingsve to visit these last two countries, so here we cache together. Now we have solved many caches so we have a large number of solved coordinates. But we are interested in all types of caches, so if you receive a log, it means that we have visited your cache. We haven't quite decided where we're going, but we'll probably let the weather decide for us. We want warmth because in Norway it is now freezing. We will stay for about 2 weeks in Australia and 2 weeks in New Zealand and we will end the trip with the Mega event in Adeleide on 29 February. So thank you very much to all of you who make it possible for us to travel around finding caches. On March 6, we set course for Norway again. There are extremely nice people everywhere and we are welcomed, we thank you very much. Thanks to our cache friends for good company on the trip.
EnglishWe are six Norwegians on a trip to Australia and New Zealand. We arrived in Melbourne at the beginning of February and are traveling home after the mega event in Adelaide. We travel by car and Geocaching helps us discover many nice places and often helps to decide where we choose the route between our goals which are: Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Dunedeen, and Adelaide. This is one of the caches we found on the trip and we thank you for showing us this place. We who are on tour have the nicknames: MrVonsr, ingsve, EllenSch and TeamEika. And signs the logs with N4.Great thanks for showing us and doing our tour wonderful NorwegianVi er seks nordmenn p tur i Australia og New Zealand. Cachehilsen fra Ellen Sch, NorgeMe and MrV sr have come down to Australia and New Zealand, -an old dream has finally come to an end. Team Eika and Ingsve have also traveled with us on this trip.We have been traveling cross-country for a month, and the goal is to end up in Adeleide and mega-event on the leap year. We have especially looked for old caches, to fill jasmer'n, for a couple of pieces, and for the other two of us who have started to think about reviewing more. The vast majority of them showed up at their places, sometimes we had to search a bit, but we were usually lucky in the end. There were also some DNFs.We have mostly logged in with the common nickname N4 (ingsve, Von sr. TeamEika and Ellen Sch), but our own nicknames are also used.A big thank you to all you CO's for laying out and maintaining your caches. Without their work, we would never have been able to make a living with this hobby.Always nice to have a new smiley face on the map.Cache greetings from Ellen Sch, Norway
Out on a geocache trip with Ellen Sch , Team Eika and ingsve on holiday in Australia, and today it was this area that was prioritized If nothing else is mentioned, we found the cache at good coordinates and it was fine To save space in the log, we often log in with the nickname N4 Many thanks to CO for laying out and maintaining this Greetings from Norway TFTCUte p en geocache-tur med Ellen Sch,Team Eika og ingsve p ferien i Australia og idag var det dette omrdet som ble prioritert Hvis ikke annet er nevnt s fant vi cachen p gode koordinater og den hadde det braFor spare plass i loggen logger vi ofte med nick N4Tusen takk til Til CO for utlegg og vedlikehold av denne Hilsen fra Norge TFTC
Still road tripping in the east and caching too with Jack and Purrfect Di. Australia Day, Invasion Day, Survival Day, Annoyed 'cos u can't buy an overseas made aussie flag day = Much Confusion Day ... whatever you're celebrating or not, it's still a day for caching! Just remember be nice to each other and respect the many varied views. Every day is Caching Day - so off we go!!! [:o)]Started the day raining in Lakes Entrance, ended sunny in Ferntree Gully Here in Sale we had a little history stop by Flooding Creek. Always good to know where the bodies are Answer sent and pic uploaded. Thank you Scrappy_1 for this cache hide and ongoing care and maintenance ---------------- ----------------------In a dangerous world filled with rusty old mint tins and solid caches falling from trees - - - a cache a day keeps us agile... sort of --------Caches are logged using the resources of gsak, garmin, and androids, occasionally AI too! (And a little rubber stamp ) Work gets in the way - and some may take longer to log than others due to mixed technology and need for sleep! The skill and talent of some Zenior Zombies helps, and maybe a spot of luck too [:o)]----------Cache carefully and make sure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on Clean as you go and cache the countryside Big thanks to those placing quality caches out and about around our country areas, in nice safe places and containers especially! - it keeps our game fun for all Of course we do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, or so we've been told! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where it is I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and perhaps we can put an end to these long logs !!! Maybe not though - as someone actually did read to the end and alerted me to just a project GC badge that requires long logs [:o)] Well at least it's not as bad as finding a mint tin! Did you get that... stop putting out rusty mint tins, just stop it, now!!! C'est fini... For now... ... until tomorrow! Viva Mexicana ! Thanks for the caches beyond the wall [:o)] PS:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------GCA1DNA - Great Leap Forward ... or is it backward... it takes an extra day to get to March 29.2.24 The Mega Leap Event of the year. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------And don't forget to put the SA June Long Weekend in your diary for 2024 too... fun and funky finding with a little competition too
Nice history.Got this on the way back up to Sydney with Corjam11 after getting Melbourne's oldest cache. TFTC
On the way to Melbourne I had a stop in Sale and visited these cache. The answer is sent to the owner. Thanks says js333 from germany.
Found by The Empire + HThe sun hung high in the sky, casting a warm glow over the asphalt as we embarked on another road trip, this time setting our compass towards the coastal gem of Merimbula, NSW. Summer was the perfect companion for our journey, promising sun-kissed landscapes and a wealth of new discoveries along the way.Our first pitstop on this adventure was Lakes Entrance, a tranquil coastal town nestled at the entrance of the Gippsland Lakes. Continuing our road trip through the diverse landscapes of Victoria, our next stop brought us to the historic Flooding Creek Cemetery in Sale. A quick read and photo then we were on the road. As we drove away, Sale's history lingered in our thoughts, a testament to the intertwining threads of the past and present on our summer journey through Victoria. Thanks for the virtual cache Scrappy_1, answers sent.-MVirtual #220
Today's weather forecast is cloudy. I didn't think for a minute that that meant I would be in the clouds, but I am. This ultimately lead to me being a bit cloud shy and opting for the easier caches in Sale. It was a good idea as this is quite fascinating and it is great that this history is retained. Thanks for bringing me here Scrappy_1, I've enjoyed the info and the 65m walk
Found by Mary and David at 17:10. A FP here even before we arrived. Mary loves cemeteries for the carved symbolism of the headstone designs and the stories in the epitaphs. Although there are no visible graves here, the history and stories are notable. Our thanks to Scrappy_1.
This is a very interesting spot and the sign tells you all that you need to know.

We are heading to Canberra to catch up with friends for a couple of days caching and we decided to leave early and take the more scenic route and grab a few caches along the way.
This was the first for the day and what an interesting way to start out. We really enjoyed reading about this area and could only think what secrets it must hold.
We collected the required information that has been sent off to the CO and have attached a picture to the log as required. We then wandered off to the plaque.
Many thanks Scrappy_1 for setting up this great little virtual.

Headed away this long weekend with fitzy_1965 for the Great Victorian County hunt. Our mission is to finish off Victoria.
We drove from Sale to Queenscliff and collected 6 more counties along the way. We liked Queenscliff so much that we decided yo stay the night and do some more caching in the area.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. And thanks to all the COs who continue to help us reach our goals.
A quirky little virtual along the way.

We left Canberra after work on Friday and stayed overnight at a familiar free camp at Oxley Reserve. Last night we arrived in Sale and had a great dinner at a local pub followed by a luxury motel room. Day 3 dawned and we started off by completing 'Wellington'. This was a handy and interesting Virtual cache to use to tick off the county, with a fun GZ. Answer sent to the CO by minniek, and approval to log received. We then headed off to the next cache on our list.
Thanks Scrappy_1 !!

The Smalls Gods' Cemetery is located in Ankh Morpork behind the Temple of Small Gods, extending to the Street of Cunning Artificers. Due to its being highly crowded, most of the skeletons have been sorted by bone and packed away underground by Legitimate First, the gravedigger who lives there. "Leggy" has to handle every job twice: burial, then disinterment and removal to the ossuary. Notable residents of the graveyard are Reg Shoe, John Keel, and the others who died on the barricades and afterwards during the glorious 25th of May.
On our way home from our trip to Rutherglen and Canberra, it was a quick stop to gather the information required and pose for the obligatory photo.

Day 4 of our mini trip to the high country. Having driven from Bright to Lakes Entrance yesterday, Connie and geodog are on their way home. Rick is continuing on with his bike group, but no pet friendly accomodation was found for the last night of the bike tour. So this was a quick stop on the way home, thanks for bringing us here.
I had a few choices on what to do and where to go for this long weekend so after a fair bit of deliberation I chose Eastern Victoria.
I headed this way so I could finally finish off the UBD challenge that I started a while ago so I made Cann River Saturday night.
This was going to be a very whirlwind tour as I was just picking up the required caches that I needed to finish it off passing a lot of other caches along the way.
So after very foggy drive yesterday morning to Mallacoota and back I decided to stay in Stratford.
Well a much nicer morning and another early start to head towards home.
I picked a few of the caches in Sale that looked like it would be easier to find them early before to many muggles were around.
This one was next on the list so I parked the Geocruiser and went for a walk.
Located the sign, did some reading and have sent off my answers.
Interesting on where the old cemetery is located in town.
Thanks Scrappy_1 TFTVC.

The last find before heading to tonight's motel. Answer sent. TFTC Scrappy_1.
Found back in January while on holidays, enjoyed reading the history that went with this one. Infor sent to CO. sorry for the late log. GJ
A big day of caching today heading east from Geelong saw us here in Sale, a lovely town, especially along the canal. With virtuals always on our must do list we headed to Flooding Creek to complete the tasks. Answer sent and photo attached with log.
Thanks Scrappy_1 for the interesting Virtual placement.

I had organised for a weekend in Gippsland... with Saturday allocated to caching. It so happened that I needed to find a Virtual cache on the 11th of the month for another challenge I am working on... so this cache was too good an opportunity to pass up... especially as I am running out of Virtual caches near home.
Thanks **Scrappy_1** for this cache.

We always enjoy a Virtual. The required information was quickly found and a photo taken.
Our grandchildren have all gone back home and we have completed a number of appointments and tasks we had to do so it was time to do some caching.
We contacted our good mate Rebel Acts and it was decided we should journey to Sale and tackle the caches we have not yet found there. Sadly there were 4 still offline after the recent floods, but there were still plenty to keep us occupied. A Virtual, some multis and a range of traditionals with some bike riding thrown in.
The weather was great and there was the usual banter and fun to make a day well spent.
All logs signed as RASP (Rebel Acts & SKI Pair).
Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Scrappy_1.

Out with My good friends Ski Pair for another Gippsland caching adventure, today we concentrated our efforts in the Sale area before heading home via Mafra.
This is one of the caches found today.
Thanks Scrappy_1 for the cache.

B & C’s excellent adventure! With just 2 of us left in Eagle Point, and a caravan to trek the 4.5 hour journey home we decided to break up the first half of the journey with a cache (or 7). Our original plans to go visit Billy Goats Gruff were scuppered when I realised that could be challenging (if not downright silly) with a SUV/Van combo so we picked a few caches off the highway and some virtuals to help build our numbers for those.
Some people don’t count adventure labs as ‘real’ caches. To those people, this is our 2000th find. Quickly gathered the required info before hopping back i to the car and onto the next. Required pic attached, answers to be submitted shortly.

While in Sale wanted to complete some more cache so this one seamed really interesting.
Headed to where it was and enjoyed reading the information about what was here at one stage. Was here with my GeoChauffer, (Hubby) we were on our 40th anniversary trip)
As it was a Virtual we did not need to sign a log, but have finally sent of the information needed to the CO and attached my Picture to this log. I did enjoy the history here, I do love reading about history and all that goes with it.
Thanks for the Virtual Cache Scrappy 1 and sorry I am late...

Thanks again guys, LilDonna

Answer sent to the CO. Looks like the cemetery is all built over and urbanised these days. Parked quietly and read the sign and took our photo at 8.19pm #9550 - a nice round figure to end our caching day on. TFTVIRTUAL
