A family trip to Tasmania during the school holidays since I was the only one who had ever been here and that was only 2 days in Hobart. So there will be a bit more exploration this time since we flew to Launceston instead for the start of the trip. it was cold and windy out here today. Thanks MerilynTas for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

After recently retiring, we made a 10 day trip to Tassie, this time bringing our car and the MIL. Just meandering around not particularly looking for caches, just taking the opportunity at the places we stop for breaks etc. This will be the last cache at the end of our 10 day sojourn in the outback regions of Tassie. We are in Devonport to board the Spirit of Tasmania to go back home, so it seems a fitting way to end my caches here with this Spirit of the Sea Virtual. After departing a snowed in Cradle Mountain, it seemed that the freezing conditions and gale force winds have followed us all the way here! Even so, it was nice to venture out and look at the structure and take in what would have been a lovely vista on a regular day. Returned to the warmth of the car, and headed over to the boarding terminal to start our trip home.

Hard to get a decent photo here with the rising sun as we'd just come off the ferry. As we'd found another cache closely related to this one.. sort of (GC7MYMX), on our departure from Tas a month ago we felt it appropriate to bookmark our return home with this virtual. That blurry blob in the foreground is of course our Tardis. Yes, it's bigger on the inside!

Tasmania Trip Day 3. I was really happy to make the overnight crossing to Tasmania without any issues at all. The slight rolling did not even tip me out of bed. Getting up in time to disembark around 5.45 am was the only challenge, but I did get to visit two caches in the dark before breakfast. I spent quite a bit of the morning caching around Devonport and along he waterfront before circling out a bit to find the four counties on offer before I started along to Burnie, which was a lot closer than I realised. I visited a few interesting locations and then got set up at my accommodation in Burnie. It is supposed to be a heat wave, but it seems pretty cool here to me.I was doing more labs at this stage and as other caches popped up along the way I stopped to have a look. It was great to see the artwork and get the information needed. Thanks for the cache MerilynTas45804.10 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2021 Wangaratta Event Gold A#478**Albida**

What a lovely day. The wind helped us feeling too warm in the sun. I used to play along the beach to the west of here as a kid...back when the SLSC canteen was kid's heaven. I still live near the sea and love it's power, especially during Winter. Logging with permission. TFTV

#2728 This is my day 257, and the longest physical cache find streak so far. I want to see how far I go. I am on a family vacation in Australia, and Tasmania road trip is our main highlight. Today, we visited Devonport and found caches while roaming around. Thank you for the cache!-crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan @ February 16, 2024 17:15:43

Had an early morning walk along the Mersey and made my way to this virtual cache. I havent actually wandered along to look at the statue close up before usually looking at it from the eastern side or from the big red ferry. Watched another big ship come into port while I was there. Thanks MerilynTas for this great virtual. Answers and photographic evidence sent to Co.

It seems this is quite a controversial statue and it certainly can be seen from afar. We are happy to record this Virtual as part of our Tasmanian Adventure in Devonport and continue on with collecting points for the multi as well. We posed for our photo with the Statue at 3.19pm and watched the gaggle of fishermen trying their luck. #10,531 TFTVIRTUAL MerilynTas and giving permission to log so quickly.

It's been a long time since I've come back to devonport. Over a decade. Other than arriving off the spirit and skedaddling elsewhere immediately.I once stayed here for months looking finding and Refinding work, playing at the annual show even with my mate.So when I arrived off the spirit last night, I knew I had to stay a day and come out to see Neptune at the rivers head. Thanks for bringing everyone out here with a virtual cache... and congratulations on receiving a virtual reward!Photo and text sent. This is virtual cache number 151 !And total find number 4750!

This afternoon we headed back into Devonport from our riverside camp to find the city center caches. Its a nice little town that we enjoyed exploring. Very walkable, we are looking forward to the coming days and doing some of the coastal and riverside walls. Our thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining caches for us to find.Oh goodie a virtual my favourite. What a super sculpture we have something similar in my home town he is God of the Tyne. It was a lovely, fun filled week with good friends as we explored Tassie and its many delightful treasures. Definitely a holiday, but a holiday with that type of friend that steps up when needed, so they were very supportive of my need to detour or disappear occasionally for a cache. 'Are you loitering again?' as they called it... my loitering at trees, bushes, walls, signs, bridges, statues... well, you know!I was keen to visit this virtual but wasn't expecting to have time. It was great when the sudden suggestion to drive into Devonport came up at the exit, and I quickly set the car in the right direction! This was a good stop for us all and a nice area to visit.

A daytrip up from Hobart with budgietas saw as finding a handful of caches around the Devonport area. I've photographed this once before (maybe for GCA?). A quick photo was taken and then we tried to read a few of the light poles. The salty air has made them hard to read but clarification online made my feel my answer was correct.Permission to log received by CO before I finished typing my log! Thanks MerilynTas

Veni. Vidi. Vici. Scripsi. Heading back home after a couple of weeks touring around Tasmania and attending the wedding of the son of our friends and had some time free while waiting for the checkin time for the Spirit of Tasmania, so headed for this point to kill an hour or so. Checked the map and found 2 caches close by. Wandered over to GZ and gathered the required information, and took the obligatory photo. Sent answers, etc, and got an immediate reply. Wow. Thanks.Back to the car and write and post the log. Now, there is still a little time to kill before we can travel to the ship.Gratias pro cache MerylinTas

Jetstar was having a sale…. in the middle of winter, for a destination further south than I already live. That sounds like a great idea!

So a plan for a 4 night whirlwind tour of the northern part of the state was hatched. I’ve seen lots of this beautiful state, but haven’t found a single cache. With plenty of challenges to tick off, and a long list of targeted caches, this week is the time to turn that around.

After flying in last night, today sees an ambitious schedule with plans to cache all the way to Ulverstone for the CITO and event, and then on to Stanley.

The sun was well and truly up now, but still low on the horizon. Looks like it’s going to be a cracking day. Found the info required and took the happy snap.

Thanks MerilynTas for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

Are you visiting the mainland? Check out some of these caches on the nominees list for the 2022 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards. The shortlist is available [here](https://coord.info/BMC8QYR)

After walking along the river, finding a cache here and answering an Ad Lab question there, I found myself looking at the Spirit of the Sea.
After a photo or two, answer a question, I then had to walk all the walk back to the car, in the dark! It’s amazing how far you can walk when there is a cache only another 150-200 metres away

TFTV MerilynTas
Keep smiling

So grateful for this awesome gift and so very pleased to have her with me to celebrate. We got diverted to Hobart which definitely wasn't part of our tight schedule. A 'Thelma & Louise' style weekend away with Geoturtle37, to celebrate her recent milestone birthday. We are flying in to Launceston on Friday afternoon, returning to Melbourne on Sunday evening. Our carefully planned itinerary includes selected LGAs, placement dates, DTs and high faves. If we manage to find them all, we can expect 186 smilies in total.

Wow! Interesting story as to how he ended up atop the concrete slab. Answer and pic sent to CO.

As I had sailed into Devonport predawn on the Spirit it seemed highly appropriate that I should visit the sculpture.
In the gloom of first light I arrived at the platform.

Find Number 2694 found at 15:05. Today we found 14 caches, 10 Adventure Lab stages and had 2 DNFs. This was the 5th find of the day

Day 16 of our tour round Tasmania. Today we drove from Launceston to the Spirit of Tasmania terminal in Devonport, via Westbury, Deloraine and the Ashgrove cheese factory.

A very blustery day, one of which piglet would afraid. We ventured to the end of the path, took a photo, gathered some data and struggled back to the car park. Answers have been sent to the CO

Thanks MerilynTas for the cache.

In Tassie for March, cutting a lap and finding a few caches along the way.

We caught the Spirit last night and in our weary state we found our first Tasmanian cache!

Answers sent in.

What a year Sandyofthesea and I have had. We kitted out the Prado and took off from Perth, Western Australia at the start of April 2022 to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. We started with the Nullabour, Eyre and York Peninsulas, the Riverlands, visited family in Victoria and then back in SA it got cold. Flinders and the Oodnadatta Track was amazing and we finally warmed up in Dalhousie Springs. The Alice beckoned and then a change of plan and we ended up tackling the Tanami Track to the Kimberley and Bungles Bungles. Territory Day in Darwin was unhinged - please try and do it! The Gulf, the coast and the car breaker ‘Old Tele Track’ to the top of Cape York. This is a must but it’s not easy! Eventually made it to Brisbane to get some fixes to the car….. let’s see where we end up.

MerilynTas, I found Spirit of the Sea - Virtual Reward 3.0 today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

We are staying in Devonport for a few days, and the rest of the New Zealand contingent is flying home today. One of us wasn't feeling well, so the other headed out to find a few caches before attending the nearby CITO.
The first stop was to the Spirit of the Sea statue to do this virtual. There was a fisherman out there packing up his gear, and I soon had the place to myself. Admired the artwork and then took the required photo. Thanks.

We continued today our tour in Tasmania, AUS, and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Virtual-Cache.

The weather was - said in one word – simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood.

The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The answers were sent.

Thanks to MerilynTas for the generation of this nice cache Spirit of the Sea - Virtual Reward 3.0 (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.

PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they appeared.

Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood.

24-Feb-23
A group of 11 of us from New Zealand have come over to cache in Tasmania, stayed at Hadley Orient Hotel in Hobart for 3 nights. Now staying at Launceston. This is our 6th day here. G-2 is the nominated driver and Pagenz (our tour director) and me are in our rental.

I see this virtual owned by the C.O who did the murals ad lab in Sheffield! Yes, we came up here, I guess you could say this was our main destination for the day, but so many places we have visited getting here are very cool too including Sheffield.

Nice to see a wonderful beach, G-2 has been a keen surfer in his younger life and he admired the waves here by the jetty, he reckoned he could surf them. So we all walked out to the end, got our required fotos and took non-required fotos. Great location MerilynTas.

Day 5 of an 8 day caching holiday in Tasmania. Signing as GNJ or TD23 depending on whether its part or all of our NZ caching group.
Answers sent and okayed. This was a lovely spot today. Warm, lots of fishermen, surfers, walkers about. Interesting to read the blurb for the virtual. Quite contentious. It would have looked better on a rock that's for sure.
Thanks for placing your virtual here.

I enjoyed walking up here and seeing so many people trying to catch fish. I did try to get a photo with waves crashing in the background, but after several goes I finally decided that I would use what I had, and of course as I turned around and started walking away, a great wave crest over the rocks.

I am touring Tasmania with a group of Kiwi cachers. I’m looking forward to seeing the countryside, the towns and cities, finding lots of caches.

Logs signed GNTJ for GraciesGPSfun, NZ_B, TrinityNZ and Jude_E.

Kia ora rawa atu for the cache MerilynTas.

This statue was more interesting to me than the previously visited art object. An indigenous Neptune? My visiting time / the position of the sun in the north (I still haven't gotten used to that) was suboptimal, but I had to move on.

Travelling around Tasmania on our family holiday with TT016, PrincessAria1 & LittleG00sE.
This is our last day in Tassie. It has been a wonderful trip. We are boarding the Spirit of Tasmania this evening so had some time to spend around Devonport.
This was the last cache before it was time to head to board the SOT. I really like the sculpture of Neptune.

Adelaide to Hobart Road Trip.
Day Three: Devonport Ferry to Latrobe (via Penguin and Sheffield).
Weather: sensational.

A good idea to do this one while it’s still early and the town is quiet I thought.. The sea was very calm and a second ferry was just coming in. Spending money on art seems to divide communities every time. I sent my answer and got a very quick reply from the CO. I’ll save the nearby Virtual for the next time that I visit Tasmania.

Thanks for this Virtual MerilynTas.
