A nice quick find here while detouring from doing the lab cache. A very pleasant walk around the reserve today, thanks TaraTed.
Unfortunately no luck for me. Pretty much looked at every tree possible. GPS and Internet didnt work so I had screenshot the info I needed and tried to just search a huge area
Found it in one of the first places we looked. Cache is good order. Beautiful piece of bush!
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are currently parked up at the NZMCA Park in Bell Block, New Plymouth … decided we’d go for a drive to the Ratapihipihi Reserve & pick up the DoC Kiwi Guardian … while there we decided to walk the loop tracks & see about some caches … deceptive little reserve, with quite an extensive network of tracks which we enjoyed … this cache was easily found, log-book completed & safely returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #4,357 for us!
Had a look and then read the logs and got a further hint. Sorry forgot to bring a pen so here is the picture of the log sheet. we will redo it next time we go for a walk.
I've found this cache during my first day of the Queen memorial weekend in Taranaki.
It took a while as the tree is dead..
Anyway TFTC!

We almost gave up on this, we didn't have the gps with us and while both phones pointed to the same place, GZ was actually about 10m back (we walked anti clockwise). Maybe we were too focused on the massive fallen tree on the corner or the start of the steps... Anyway, once located the right tree it was all good! Tftc
No luck on this one. I searched the most likely tree three times, another quite likely pair twice and a few more for good measure.
Made the most of Easter Friday by walking all the loops on a great day the geocache all good and the whole trip most picturesque and well labeled thanks Tara Ted for the placement TFTC
After spending the morning up the mountain with my family walking some trails we headed home for a well deserved Vanilla Latte..sat on the couch, took my first sip and checked my emails on my phone. What a new geocache!? That’s been published for over 3hrs with no logs!? Threw my coffee into a takeaway cup, grabbed GigiEv and off we went to get our names on that log first!
One car was parked in the car park area so off we chose 1 of the paths and jogged to GZ. We hadn’t come across anyone on our way here so we thought we were in for a chance of (FTF) My GPS did not like the area at all and for the most part it was jumping 10m in all directions. Google wouldn’t work for me either so couldn’t tell me what the hint tree was haha but finally after a grid search we came across it. And yay an empty log! Thanks for placing TaraTed.

A joint (FTF) with trayc.g I slipped on a rock on the way down some steps and messed up my leg a bit but after a cuddle I was all ok again…especially with the promise of an ice block after TFTC
