After having worked late last night, and working all morning, I figured I deserved a proper break and headed for Shakespear park. Its a beautiful area wed visited with the kids before we found out about the best outdoor hobby in the world. And so close to Auckland! It really had not occurred to me that hiking pants and woolies were by now a bit overdone in the warm 20 degrees today. So after a little hike along the beach and around the paddocks, and finding around ten caches, I felt like an overdone steak ice cream next!About this cache:On my way in, volunteers and rangers were working around ten metres from ground zero. So I kept driving and went through the gates. After walking the red spot path and enjoying the views, this was a quick png on my way back to Browns Bay and some delicious pasta from Piatti.
Up this way with ABCDF4 for a few daysSo to the CO for making our time away enjoyable
No sweat getting my bike up this hill to the predator fence and with a good clue, found the hide too. Gorgeous day today to be out enjoying fresh air and sunshine. Thanks G for bringing me here.
Well I'm back to do another walk in Shakespeare Regional Park. This time I am with another of my sons who's just returned home after a year in Aussie. Nice to spend this time together.I accidentally missed last time so this was the first cache today. Being a Friday no-one else was around so we were able to park directly across from the cache. A quick find and no offence was taken.I'm very close to my next milestone of 7000 finds. I was very plessed my son was keen for a walk and was happy for me to cache. Now I can make my first cito as the CO my milestone find. Thanks for the caches out here
I totally missed seeing this trad on my map. I was too busy concentrating on the Adlab which I answered wrong twice. I only got that answer on the way back after working out the second Adlab question. Oh well. I didn't do a lot of caches out here as lunch and an ftf in Warkworth were calling me away. I will be back, thanks
**21,877**Another quick find here in the early morning. No muggles yet around only abundant Pukekos. TFTC
#869 This cache was well guarded by a yellow jacket. Fortunately, this particular one doesn't sting.

This is a really great day to be out there walking around looking for caches. The water around here is also really warm. Quickly spotted after passing through the fence. TFTC
After a nice swim at the beach me and FriwiNZ came to do some caches and this was one of them. Nice camo and you never disappoint with your caches G_2. TFTC
Off to Tiritiri Matangi this morning and was hoping to get a milestone cache there. So needed 6 or 7 to get close. Woke very early so decided to head to Shakespear for a look (and the temptation of good birds was also high). What a great spot - between the AdLabs and traditionals I got the numbers I needed. Second cache first the day and I parked just before the gate andquickly grabbed this one.TFTC G-2
QEF before leaving the park for NYE festivities! Tricky to remove log to sign though. Used a handily placed end of wire. SL TFTC
Out for another exercise jaunt, so had to grab this one along the way. TFTC

Thanks to COs for the great day!

We are staying with friends at Gulf Harbour and after a very boozy night last night we needed to blow off the cobwebs.
Big walk around the park collected 9 caches and the AL. Great walk. TFTC

Sometimes I wish the fence kept more than just rats and mice and cats out. A quick find whilst parked a bit dodgy at the side of the road.
We’re currently staying in the area and today we had a great ramble around the Shakespear Regional park. Good spot here, TFTC
Phew, I'm relieved to see you can drive through here, I didn't fancy a long walk at this time if day.
M24: glad the rain eased up for today, makes it better to find caches, imo.
Nice and easy find, log all good and signed here. TFTC.

1941. 9:11 am. I don't think this is the fence that keeps them out. . TFTC(in view of the impressive one)
Having woken, breakfasted, and packed my tent I set off for the peninsula and a walk around the Shakespeare Park.
I’m pleased I arrived fairly early this morning as I was able to stop and search without being overly muggled.
Turned out to be a quick find, so signed and off to the next one.
Thanks G_2

Getting near the end of my hike around the park, so came over here to also get the final stage I needed for the Ad Lab. This was nice and easy to find with the useful hint. I don't take offence at all - I think it's fantastic to have areas like this where our endangered endemic birds can be protected from predators, and I hope more and more places can become pest free sanctuaries like this in the future. For now, this fence and the pest trapping sure make Shakespear a pretty special place! I really want to bring my tent here overnight and see some kiwi here too.
Thank you for the cache!

Spending our last afternoon in NZ here before returning to Ireland. Thanks for placithese caches. A spectacularly beautiful park. Quick find.
We checked out the exit airlock, and the cache, then went back inside and squirted our sandals again.
I headed out to Shakespeare Regional Park this afternoon for a, nearly, three hour hike. But, I collected this one on my way into the park, before my walk. I parked up and made the short walk to GZ. Cache was quickly found were the hint said it would be. Cheers for the cache placement!
Just did the ad lab and enjoyed the walk around the top. A great day for awesome views
Slept not far from here at the free campground and started this morning that nice walk.
Ths start was not so good but than it was OK. Had some good views and very close contact with the sheep's.
Thanks.

A quick find here while doing the adventure lab In Shakespeare regional park. Stopped to take a photo of the unusual sign near the predator fence, before entering the park (see images). TFTC
With rebel98 finding a few caches around the park . Giving bikes ago windy up here
Out for a walk here on a nice day before going to a fair at a local school. Good to find another in this park. Thanks G-2
Today is a nice day to visit this regional park for the first time.
Mrs rattll jumped on the bike and headed in an anti clockwise direction. There was an occasional side track and the odd cache I couldn't get because of muggles, but all in all a successful tiki tour around the park.
There was certainly no offense taken here! Fortunately there were no muggles, so it was a straight forward find.
Thanks for putting this here

We were on a bit of an Adventure Lab mission today heading here and there completing some new ones, finishing off some we hadn't fully completed and doing as much as we could on a pesky ten stage mega adventure around Auckland's beaches.
One of these ten stages brought us here and we noticed this newish cache had appeared since our last visit so headed over to find it.
No problems at GZ aside from needing to step carefully as it was a bit slippery.
The rain had pretty much cleared the entire park and the birds were loving the solitude. We drove and walked around a bit to watch them and also make the most of the solitude ourselves and it was nice to see a couple of swans and their babies enjoying a puddle made by the rain.
A very peaceful visit.
Thanks G-2

This morning we joined Team Welsh for a visit to Shakespear Park to do the Ad Lab. After driving back through the predator fence gate we stopped to pick this one up. Nice easy find. TFTC
I was out with Merlot and Nette to day to mainly sign off the new AdLab in the Shakespear Park but if any others get in my way I will sign them off as well.
This is one of the others. It was just before the 1st AdLab location.
Cheers for the cache.

Quite a few lambs around to watch us which seems very early. I guess that's because we're Mainlanders and there's snow expected there over the next few days. Time for us to go home after a very wet day. We wouldn't have come out if we had known it was going to be this wet. As it was, we managed a fun day so we're feeling lucky. Tftc.
A nice quick find, last for the day, time to drive home in the pouring rain. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are in Auckland Auckland for a break and we are exploring the region while we are based here. Today was damp in the morning and the rain got heavier the later in the day it got. We had a great time despite the weather.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

So today a crowd of 14 Team SEAC members encompassing 10 different caching names travelled north to the park and attempted all caches in the park. Logs were signed SEAC to save space. The weather today was perfect. Another nice quick find with so many people looking.
Team SEAC was out in force today with a mission to knock off the caches to be found in Shakespear Park at the end of Whangaparaoa. This had been on the cards for quite a while now but had always been thwarted by either COVID or bad weather. Today was our fourth attempt at getting the crew together and claiming this area.
Our last cache in the open sanctuary area as we reached this gate. We had a little fun here, taking photos of some "preditors" (a.k.a Keylev and LiverKiwi) chomping at the bit trapped behind bars in the double door system.

Team SEAC organised a cache finding outing to Shakespear Park. Great company & a stunning autumn day. Hopefully all those predators are kept out by those impressive gates. Signed as SEAC. TFTC

Headed up this way today after one of our group suggested (for the fourth attempt) to take a walk around the park....as we had camped up here a few times before, we jumped at the opportunity, plus it was an opportunity of catching up with the group after being locked down by Covid-19.....parked nearby, and headed into the park.
Signed in as SEAC to save logbook space.

A visit to this park was originally planned for June 2020 but the weather thwarted that event, it was rescheduled for Aug 2020 but then lockdown and restrictions meant we were not allowed to gather or cache, it was planned again for Jan 2021 but only a couple of the crew were available but many wanted to do it so we said we would find a better time. Today was that day, finally!!
They say good things come to those who wait and boy was this worth it....great weather, views, caches and of course the company!
We did wonder about the double gates for humans but only a large single gate for the vehicles...couldn't something sneak in with a car??
Either way we found the cache.
Thanks for the cache.

The Team SEAC group were hitting Shakespeare Regional Park. We had attempted this 3 times previous but were thwarted with COVID lockdowns and bad weather. NEITHER were an issue today as we were greeted with an amazing day and a LARGE proportion of the Team SEAC members turning out. The kids were in full force with B4Dawn diligently pushing B4Dawn VERY Mini cacher ALL the way around the park in a buggy type pram! All logs signed Team SEAC to save log Paper.
