It is the first time we have heard of International Ice Cream Day, with a day free of commitments we couldn't resist a day of caching in the Eltham area with the promise of a special reward in the afternoon at the International Ice Cream Day event.
No screaming for ice cream - a very orderly line and a great opportunity to catch up with fellow cachers from near & far.
Our appreciation and thanks to RoamingHowie for organising a tasty event .

What a great turn out, we just made it as it started to Rain, was chilly for ice cream but we could not resist our free one. I look forward to trying out some of the other ice cream shops in the lab adventure.
Thanks Andrew for the event and the ice cream

Not being well this morning I cancelled plans for a 20km+ rogaine. That doesn't stop me eating ice cream right? Of course it didn't. Despite the torrential rain including hail, I headed out for a drive and stroll. Lots already in attendance and eating ice cream when I arrived, so I joined the cue.
Well done to OHC for #14000.
Congratulations to RoamingHowie on your first of what i am sure will be many events.
Massive thanks go to RoamingHowie for hosting this one.
Big things are continuing to happen! *Are you joining the fun again in 2022?*

Congratulations RoamingHowie on your first event. Judging by the amount of geocachers in attendance, I’d say it was a hit.
Who would think anybody would travel an hour in torrential rain, thunder and lightning to attend an ice cream event? We did, and luckily the burnt caramel both Steve & I chose was delicious. Lovely to catch up with friends and meet a few new people too.
Thanks for hosting this event RoamingHowie and congratulations to OzHockeyChick for another amazing milestone.

What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon with thunder, lightening and heavy rain occurring nearby. This did not stop the geocachers from having an enjoyable time, with lots of chatting and ice-cream tasting. I had passionfruit and mango sorbet.
I'm definitely going to bring my family here on another wintery afternoon to enjoy the variety of ice-cream.
Congratulations Roaming Howie on your first event and thank you for hosting it.

I parked nearby and managed to visit a few of the waypoints of the mural multi before the threatening sky rumbled and I turned back... to discover a shop with a very familiar green neon sign (the first one of these opened under the literary name of "Augustus Gloop", in the five storey building that overshadows a house I lived in, right by my daughters' schools), and the event organiser with the first few arrivals.
And they kept arriving... and arriving...
A pretty good crowd for ice-cream in the middle of winter.
RoamingHowie, thanks for a fine social activity... and the tasty pistachio and peanut butter cookie cone while the rainstorms swept past our nice dry arcade.
Oh, and the start of what should be one memorable Adventure Lab.

Here we are for my first Geo-Event on International Ice Cream Day! I initially wasn’t sure if anyone would be crazy enough to join me for ice cream in the middle of winter (and whilst rain and lightening was surrounding us). But it turns out there are plenty of crazy geofolk out there - I shouldn’t have been surprised!
With a late shift of the location to an undercover area due to impending weather, I started to get nervous as the numbers continued to climb…. Will we fit?
Sure enough we did, and we completely took over Augustus Gelatery for 45mins or so! A great turn out and so many new faces that I haven’t met before.
Thanks so much to everyone for coming along to celebrate and help make my first event a success. Sounds like the Great Victorian Ice Cream Tour might have to host events at all of their locations!
Congratulations to veevers12 for snagging first 2 find and to OzHockeyChick who managed to make this event find #14,000! I’ve share in plenty of ice creams on the journey to that milestone!

Pleased to have made it to this well attended celebration of ice cream. Even though it was pouring rain with thunder and lightning, plenty of ice cream and gelato was consumed. Congrats to OHC an her 14000 th cache, Great way to celebrate. Looking forward to many more yummy events at the numerous locations that we have visited with the CO. Thank you for organising this event.
Yesterday Chook travelled down from Western Vic to Melbourne to attend a school reunion, and stayed overnight with one of her besties from those early school days. There was an event "up the road" at Eltham this afternoon, so Chook made her way to the area to attend this before heading back home.
The thunder and lightning and hail started just as she arrived, but the sheltered arcade next to Augustus was perfect to host the many crazy cachers who decided that icecream was still a good idea on such a freezing cold day. How else could we celebrate International IceCream Day, the COs first event, and OHC's 14000!!! What a fabulous choice of beautifully displayed icecream too. Chook hoped she might find a salted caramel, but ended up with a double scoop of caramilk honeycomb and caramel mudcake to truly get her caramel fix. Thankyou so much RH for hosting this event with a difference! Hope future ones are just as yummy!

What a crazy mob if people...driving through rain and thunderstorms tho get an ice cream on a cold winters day. Thank you so much Roaminghowie, what a wonderful event it turned out to be....we certainly love our ice cream, as it was a great turn out! Looking forward to next year's!!
NOT the day for ice cream, but it's delicious all the same. TftE ( thanks for the Event!)
#14,000!!
Perfect timing. As I approached this milestone, I was expecting to put the brakes on and my upcoming event would be my milestone.
But then this event was published. Perfect!
Since I met this CO, we have been on many adventures, with most including an icecream or sometimes two! So it’s only fitting that this very-well attended event becomes my 14,000th smiley.
Here’s to the next thousand!
Happy International Icecream Day! ??
Thanks for organising and hosting this event, RoamingHowie ??

My kids thought I was a bit mad when I beckoned them to the car just as claps of thunder were heard overhead and the heavens opened up with hail. They were more than happy to come along as ice cream was promised. We met a few new people and the kids received a travel bug each from Bunjil! Thanks so much RoamingHowie for organizing this event. We look forward to attending more in the future.
Awesome event and turn out despite the sideways hail and freezing temperature!
Thanks to RoamingHowie for this great event idea.
Thanks to RoamingHowie for this great event idea.
A very large group of folks descended on the ice cream shoppe and consumed large quantities of delicious ice cream much to the staffs delight.
Thanks for the event.
Thanks for the event.
Great event catching up with the regulars and some I hadn’t.
PrezDough and I made the trek across town for some ice cream on a cold day… Are we mad..? Probably…!
Anyway, this was a great opportunity for us to grab some extra caches in a new area.
Thanks again for for putting this on Howie.
It was great and yummy…!
I visited 2 TB.
TFTE.

It was a wonderful event on a cold and stormy afternoon. That didn't stop us attendees from consuming lots of frozen delights and talking about our many caching adventures. Thank you RoamingHowie for a great event.
What a beautiful day for an ice cream! As we drove into Eltham amidst the thunder and heavy rain, it seemed like a crazy idea, but when we arrived it was well worth it. I bet the ice cream shop is not used to being this busy in the middle of winter! The ice creams were delish, it was great to catch up with a lot of other cachers, we received Bunjil trackables, and to top it all off, we were lucky enough to be randomly selected for the {FTF}. ??
Thanks Roaming Howie on your first event. I think you should be really happy with how it went.

Well our plans changed today - so I was able to attend. As I walked out the door the heavens just started to open. Driving the short distance to Eltham via many flooded roads was an adventure in itself.
It was the first time at this establishment. What a selection of flavours. Thank you RoamingHowie for a great event and what a way to celebrate OzHockeyChic's 14000 find!

Had so much fun! Ice cream was delicious! The rain and thunder made it even better!
Ripper turnout, ripper gelato, ripper first event RH. Looking forward to the next ice cream event!
Thanks for holding the event RoamingHowie.
Thanks for holding the event RoamingHowie.
Glad we made the trip through pelting rain to enjoy icecream in the company of fellow cachers.
Thanks RoamingHowie for bringing us all together to celebrate. Congrats on a well planned event

It was international ice cream day today and I had a bit of time before the international ice cream day event so I had to stop by at the ICECREAMS Available ?? cache which I had a DNF on a while ago on the way. I then continued on a nice walk along the river and a couple of other trads before the hail storm started and I headed to the event.
Great idea for an event and thanks for the notice on the new adventure lab for the ice cream driving tour. 1 down, it's going to be a while before I get the other 4 locations.
Thanks RoamingHowie for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

What a day!
International icecream day and some caching with my buddy Rebel Acts.
The only downside is the weather, looks like it's going to rain.
Cheers RoamingHowie for the event and plant based icecream ??.

Great turn up here and pleased to have a spot out of the rain. Supa Snooppa and Jesshlab both enjoyed their ice reams and meeting people that they have only heard about on line.
Thanks for organising this event RoamingHowie

Of course Mary & David were there. I scream for ice Cream! Unfortunately, there wasn't any rum 'n' raisin or pineapple, but we were more than happy with our selections. M had butterscoff and cookies and cream, while D had raspberry, lychee and pineapple (close to ideal, but not quite) and passion fruit. Wonderful to see so many old friends and meet some new ones. The elements certainly didn't put off the devoted fans. Our thanks to RoamingHowie.
Ahhh. I thought this was Saturday when I first looked so wa sad as I couldn't go... but it is Sundae!!! So I can come.. mark me down as a party of 4!!
My first event with my own account! I’ve handed the joint account over to the teenager.
I'll be there with icw. Ice cream parlours are the type of shop where you start at one end and eat your way through. Sunday is forecast to be cold and wet, so I don't know how conducive it will be to frozen delights.
Can’t wait. Strawberry if we are talking ice cream but love raspberry and lemon sorbet
I will be there thanks for organising the event RoamingHowie Manfred may come, depending on rain and Grandfather approval.

I hope you are all looking forward to International Ice Cream Day.
Mother Nature is suggesting that an undercover area is more suited to Sunday's activities, so the good folk at Augustus Gelatery will be keeping all their undercover seating in the Midway Arcade reserved for us ice cream loving geofolk.
The coordinates have been shifted slightly to reflect this drier position.
Happy scooping!

I should be able to make it. I love cookies n cream. It could be me by myself or with 4 children (depends if I can sneak out of the house without them knowing where I am going!)
This cache should be a difficulty of five, if we have to select a favourite flavour - almost all ice cream is delicious!! At the moment biscoff, golden gaytime and dark chocolate top the list.
Unfortunately, I'm lactose intolerant..no ice cream for me. But still will do my best to attend.
Fortunately this ice creamery offers some plant based dairy free ice cream options, which includes one of my favourite flavours, Banana, Peanut Butter and Choc chip. It just happens to be dairy and gluten free!
Love an ice cream so we’ll be there. Steve rum & raisin, me anything but rum & raisin
We will be there for some ice cream. I like choc mint the best but I'll enjoy any flavour.
Incidentally, on the theme of the day, we have an ice cream themed cache nearby https://coord.info/GC94C5Q although unfortunately the ice cream reference at the location appears to have disappeared.
Look forward to seeing you next week

Did you put this event on for Chook? She will be in Melbourne that weekend for a school reunion, and the timing of this event looks quite doable, before she has to head back home. Mmmmm salted caramel ice cream mmmmm.
Yes, we'll both be there. Rum and Raisin for M, Pineapple for D (when he can find it).
It's never too cold for ice-cream. Hopefully it will be a sunny afternoon. Passionfruit icecream or lemon sorbet for me, please.
Rum and Raisin, spearmint, mocha, caramel, bubblegum, boysenberry, oh my gosh...too many to choose!!!!! And of course, you have to bite the end of the cone and suck the ice cream through that....totally doable in cold weather!
Can’t wait for an event so close to home!!!! There will be at least 2 of us.
