Visiting Whakatane for the long weekend. Had a great bush walk at Matatā up the hill. Ended up very hot and sweaty. Well what better way to cool off than visit this spring and take a quick swim. Soon cooled off and hungry for a great picnic. Oh we also found a smiley! Thanks Geckoh. Happy to add a favourite point for this pleasant location

Wow sure is rockin on the Braemar Smile. Hugely for sure. Always enjoy driving the Braemar as very fond memories from a child growing up in the area. Family fireworks, lovely local farmers and neat kids to play with.

With Mum and nephew… Mum reckons she hasn’t been anywhere in months. It was a reasonably fine Sunday for a drive, so let’s go exploring. The Eastern Bay was looking particularly good…

A visit to Braemar Springs was high on our list of priorities. We parked and wandered back to ground zone. The hint and our cache sense helped to make a quick find of this well positioned hide. We took the TB to move along. Thanks Geckoh. TFTC.

We are doing a "tidy up" of caches in the area that always pop up when we are 'out of town'. I had no idea that there was a spring here. After finding the cache, we continued down to check it out. What amazingly clear water. We had all bought our togs but it was a bit cold for us, although I was keen to return in the afternoon. Thanks for bringing us here, geckoh.

#14,540. Second to find. Park, walk and grab on Braemar Spring Road in Rotoma. Fortunately, the GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Relatively quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.*Thanks for the geocache placement, and for bringing us to this site, and **.T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e.**.M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.*

Yay, how exciting, getting a (FTF) while staying in the area.
And it's a very special place for us as this is where we made our first recorded cache find GC29EB back in June 2004. It's funny looking back at that log, with the young rattll's being named and swapping sweets.
The place sure has changed a lot since then. You still wouldn't get mrs rattll into that cold water - that'll never change!
Thanks for putting this here and for the walk down memory lane.
