Logs
The cache has been archived due to the extremely rude and aggressive male in the house next to GZ who thinks he owns a public park.
Found this during a fantastic weekend away at the Canberra Mega, with gridge98, Freddo, Team Waldron, e.gregory1, Davidwazza and Featherwaite. The log books were either signed with the name ABP or our individual caching names. Was an excellent Mega, grateful to be part of it!
In Canberra for the Easter GeoBash Mega. Our team cosisted of Team Waldron, Featherwaite, E.Gregory1, Freddo, Gridgre98, DavidWazza, CourtneyRose. Logs were signed as ABP.We travelled far and wide had a great time. Thanks to the organising committee and all the cache owners.TFTC
Found in the company of Big Matt, Haveanez, Jamin Appleford, Poolpool and a few others that had arrived before hand and were milling around the park entrance. TFTC, cheers

Found during the Canberra Mega.Neighbours werent happy with the little bushes getting trampled near GZTFTC
The cache has been causing issues with the neighbours that have planted trees in the area. It has been removed and Ill return to the owner to relocate.
Found this one with ABP and half of the Victorian crew, ran into trouble with some locals sadly too TFTC
Found while attending the Mega event in Canberra over Easter, teaming up with e.gregory1, Team Waldron, gridge98, Freddo and Davidwazza. Logs were signed ABP to save time and space on the logsheets. Thanks for the cache!
Found with a large group of mostly interstate cachers this afternoon with a stand off between us and the guy planting shrubs nearby. My group of McLookers muzza and micaparamedic signed as MMMF
Found today on a great day's caching with McLookers, Micaparamedic and Feathertop and some thers along the way. All signed as 3MF.My thanks to DARKSIDEDAN for the cache.
First day attendance to the Canberra GeoBash for me and my visitors KBKL and Sixpak69. Wanted to get this one for a while now, its a shame that there have been issues at this location. There was a local keeping a close eye on us when we arrived, but we are always cautious of plantation so the local wasn't too fussed about us, just watched on. It probably helped that it was only 3 of us, not a large group of people as I can see in other logs. Thanks for the cache placement DSD
#19483 - 4:05:00 PM; After a morning mission with Sol de lune, I dropped him back at Geobash Central before hooking up with some of the members of TMEX for a few afternoon caches. Managed three more nice D/T combos, along with a DNF to wrap up the day's caching. All caches were found in good order and returned as found once signed. This one was causing the neighbours a bit of angst as chers looking skyward for the cache were alleged to have trodden on newly planted shrubs as they went. We were able to allay their concerns as I returned the cache to its hide. In the interests of harmonious relations, it's likely this one will be relocated. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN
This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 13250.I turned up mid kerfuffle for this one but managed to retrieve the cache and smooth over with the locals. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the cache.
Found while attending the Mega event in Canberra over Easter.Today I teamed up with FeatherWaite, Team Waldron, gridge98, Freddo and Davidwazza. Logs were signed ABP to save time and space on the logsheets. It was a productive day, focusing mainly on caches of interest, with an emphasis on the Virtual caches and a couple of older ones. The weather was fine and quite warm, in contrast to some of the other times Ive been in Canberra over Easter. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the cache.
A stack of cachers making the find here today.Out with Muzza, micaparamedic and feathertop this morning. We signed the log 3MF.Thanks for placing the cache DARKSIDEDAN.
Found with DazRascal, Big Matt, Jamin Appleford and PoolPool. Wed just arrived at GZ to what looked like a mini event. Thanks for the heads up to the other teams that the neighbour was not a happy camper after his new plants had been trampled near GZ. Wowsers, he wasnt happy. Thanks to Big Matt & Fox in Jox for smoothing him over and were able to make the find before it was moved. TFTC. Cheers
Here in Canberra for the Mega and we found your cache while exploring the area.We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty. We worked through the multi and had a set of co-ords that worked for us. Yep up there, out with the TOTT.Enjoyed caching in this area, cache and contents were in good condition. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.
Found while in Canberra for the Mega. Took some spotting after solving the multi. TFTM
With numbers crunched I made my way to GZ...This cache seems to have gone through metamorphosis...lol...But thankfully my eyes finally spotted the blighter and retrieval was made and then the cache returned..without incident Thanks for my morning amusement
In Canberra for the mega. Out today targeting a few specific caches, this was one of them. The weather is brilliant and we are having a great time. Thanks for the cache tnln replaced as found sl
Found during Mega event. DARKSIDEDAN, thank you so much for placing it for everyone to enjoy and highlighting this area. A lot of webs & spiders, fortunately the spiders leave us alone.
Stay at Canberra for Mega and Beautiful places can be found everywhere. As long as I enjoy myself, I don't care what the weather is like. Here's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache DARKSIDEDAN.
After Black Mountain Event, accompanied all7,crank1,pwala,Everlasting and myself, Easy spot, nice retrieve and replaced, all good , TFTM
I was here for FTF, but it was at night, windy and drizzly and I could not find the cache. As I already had a FTF for that day, I wasn't too fussed. When I returned at a later date, it again was dark and windy. I decided to pick a better occasion next time and did not return until today with barb2e. Two pairs of eyes should be more successful. It still took us a while and in the end it was the right angle that made the difference.Being slightly taller made also a difference in retrieval and replacement. We also got caught red handed (cache in hand) by the Queenslanders. TFTC - I am glad I have finally signed this one.
Out and about in Sutton with the view to collect a few more caches in the area.Caching with and signing as the group '5 for QLD' and having a great day.TFTCache DARKSIDEDAN
Another day spent Pre-Mega geocaching. Today we are chasing caches along Sutton Road, then further north until we need to return to CBA foera late afternoon event. Log sheets as "5 for QLD" to save space and time. After said event, we solved this puzzle then headed off to GZ where we found isopeda and barb2e with the log book in hand. Well, that saved unwrapping our pole!Log signed and cache replaced as found on 23 March 2024. TFTC, DARKSIDEDAN
Found with isopeda after a fairly long hunt. We widened the search, checked some logs but kept coming back to the most likely spot. Eventually spotted against a matching colour branch and just able to reach with my shorter pole than most nowadays. Retrieval and return managed without problems. Tftc
#7406 Our Australia Day long weekend caching road trip continues. Today we will concentrate on Canberra, chasing high DTs and various challenge requirements.Today were also going for a challenge close to home, 25 unique DT squares in a day- if we cant do it in Canberra it isnt possible I think! This was a joint effort with EthisEthat today nice easy fishThanks for the cache!
#7406Day 3/4 of our Australia Day caching weekend. Canberra -> Canberra Today is our first full day of caching in Canberra, and when I say there is plenty to keep us busy, I mean it! Were doing a day trying to qualify for a challenge near home, along with approaching our 4th and 5th DT loop.Met EthisEthat here to help with the fish. Spotted easily and a nice seamless retrieve and return was made. TNLN SLTFTC DARKSIDEDAN
Every time I've been here previously, the cache has been missing. Not this time. Glad to get some help from Team737 on their ambitious day of collecting 25 different D/Ts (idk about that, it's canberra). The cache wasn't in the most D5 spot so was pretty quickly retrieved by Samuel737. Nice! TFTC DARKSIDEDAN, this marks D/T loop #2!
We were a bit worried when we saw the horizontal tree, but it seems said worries were unfounded. GZ tree still vertical. Thank you for a fun cache DSD
Arriving at GZ we noticed a large tree had fallen. Approaching we saw it wasnt our tree & the hide sitting as it should be. A little while later wed signed it & were off to find our next target
Back with previous finders today - regrettably this looks to be missing again. Thanks anyway, DSD.
We did the sums made our way to GZ for a quick findThanks DARKSIDEDAN for placing this cache GC9RQVQ
From a previous expedition to this site, and with previous finders at the time when we were there, we could ascertain it was missing at the end of last year.
We came back today to replace the hide and have done this with a message to CO.
Darksidedan… this is an awesome series.
Happy to see so many mint tins being put to good use!
Thanks

I joined 2 experienced geocachers after the event so I learnt a lot but I couldn't do the find. Next time
Attempted this one with domsky after the New Year's Day event, and arrived at GZ and looked for a while but unfortunately couldn't find it. Unfortunately, the experience was soured by two residents who knew about the cache and seemed quite disappointed it has been placed here. I had accidently stepping on a rare tree shrub. I apologised excessively and listened to their views but I found their reactions very patronising. They did explain though they were working to preserve the shrubs and that geocachers have not been taking care of the area. Their feedback about protecting environment is warranted so perhaps the CO could consider moving the geocache just to keep peace between geocachers and the community. In saying that, this is public land and their aggression was inappropriate. It's disappointing because they will definitely recognise me (being a younger person, I feel this is where the patronising tome came from) so unless the cache is moved, I don't feel very safe returning here.
After the event this afternoon to welcome in the New Year, we did the number crunching to come and find this one.
We were also with ToyHunters.
While we were looking at GZ, two locals, who live adjacent to the Parkland came and spoke for quite awhile, fairly negatively about the whole situation.
We had spent quite a while looking for the mint tin but could not find it. One of the two locals recalled where it was placed, but could also not see it.
The two local people who live in the area seemed quite unhappy that there would be geocache placed here.
Given how grumpy they were, I’m wondering if it would be better to reposition this one elsewhere?
This said, it is definitely on public land.
Thanks Darksidedan

#1375 Still catching up on logging but saw the recent DNFs and felt I should jump ahead to this one.
I had been keeping my eye on this one after my unfortunate dnf a few weeks earlier. After seeing the recent finds and mention of a replacement I was keen to get back out here and make the find. I was lucky to have the area to myself when I arrived and wasted no time in making the retrieval. Now with my name on the log I returned the cache to its perch and continued on my way.
The cache as mentioned in the more recent logs is definitely on public land, there’s no signs or anything around stating that there’s any rare trees in the area. What I find funny is that when I did find the cache though, there was a nearby residents washing hanging up to dry on the bushes. I’d hope that they weren’t hanging on the rare tree shrub, it might struggle to hold the weight!
All jokes aside thanks for the cache DARKSIDEDAN

A lovely multi to do today - we enjoy doing these Highest Mint Tin caches. Out and about grabbing some caches for a calendar challenge.
Thanks to all the COs for putting out the caches and maintaining them.

28,756. Found with minniek and albida33 during a pre-MEGA warm up caching run [our excuse anyway ].
We all headed out for an interesting days caching. Some very interesting and in some ways challenging caches were on our list. I must say I am enjoying the whole Highest Mint Tin series - which certainly yield some good DTs. This one took a bit of info gathering and coord calculating, and then we arrived at a likely looking GZ. Yep - mint tins are easier to spot than bisons for sure. Cache retrieved, log signed, and cache replaced.
Thanks DSD !!

Fitzy_1965 had scheduled a caching in Canberra day, so0 I caught up with him in Civic just after nine in a vain attempt to miss the heavy traffic. We then began a day of challenging caches. Multis and hard to retrieve were in between caches that we could not find. Although we knew it would be a difficult day, we enjoyed ourselves and look forward to finally finding the ones we had to skip today, maybe when there is less water about.
We had heard this one had been replaced by the owner, so it was time to go and have a look. I must say mint tins are much easier to see than bison's, but possibly no easier to get down and return. Done now. [Special thanks to DSD for maintaining]
Thanks for the cache DARKSIDEDAN

Looked skyward at GZ for a little while with no luck. Will have to return another time
Cache 9035 on 2 Jul 2022.
Headed out with Fox in Jox to grab a few caches of interest on a cold, windy and sometimes damp afternoon. I scored 4 caches which I was very happy with. Then off to a friends for tea and a game of Dominion!
Numbers collected and off to GZ where a combination of TOTTs was needed to make the retrieve!
Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the cache and the fun!

Solved a few weeks ago and spotted with the help of a muggle who was passing by and didn’t seem overly impressed with having a geocache in this location. I shifted the conversation to mention public spaces and highlighted the fact that a placement like this will naturally limit the number of searchers. I didn’t retrieve it that days as I was on my motorcycle and therefore without TOTT. I returned today and made the relatively quick retrieval. As I was signing the log, another muggle popped out and asked if I had found it. We chatted as I returned it and then parted ways.
Future finders should note that it is close to a playground and a well used walking trail. You will likely be seen and engaged by local muggles.

I decided to get the initial details sorted before meeting TikvaNZ and ZQX for a morning's caching. After an interesting multi, ZQX went off to change clothes, while TikvaNZ escorted me to gz, so that I could use his TOTT. Shortly after I had my name in the log. TFTC DSD

A short after work mission to grab a couple of caches to top up my find types for this date. Information easily gathered and GZ calculated. Cache soon spotted, retrieved, signed and replaced. TFTC.

With just a few hours spare this morning so we picked up data for three mint tin caches and found just this one ️ cache. The TOTT made quick work to retrieve and a little more effort to return.
Some of the community gardeners were nearby and showed us the small shrubs that they had planted at GZ. Please be careful as they are so easy to trample as they so close to the retrieval location that they are concerned that they will be damaged with future retrievals. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN.

With Czechboy14 home schooling this week due to COVID staffing issues I took the opportunity for a little outdoor time. Grabbed the required (only) details at the posted coordinates for a quick calculation, heading straight off to GZ. CB14 lost interest immediately and raced over to the playground while I searched skyward for the cache. Stupid annoying little mites started buzzing around, followed by a few thirsty mozzies. This didn't help the search, nor did the dark overcast skies. Fortunately the precipitation held off and I spotted the container perched up very very high.
Extending the TOTT to my surprise I grabbed it first attempt. CB14 meandered over but lost interest again straight away, 9 year olds for you. Log signed I slotted it back into the end of the TOTL and up she went. Took about 5 minutes but eventually securely replaced the cache as found.
A few more minutes at the playground then off we went, just as a sprinkling of rain began. A nice D/T to find, completing my third D/T matrix. TNLNSL TFTC

Found with Joolay after work today. Quite a trick to find and even harder to return. Light rain did not help! Thanks for hiding and maintaining this cache DARKSIDEDAN
Well that was hard work. First spotting it and then getting it down. The weather did not help but we got there in the end. Now have found the highest mint tin in Downer.
Thanks for getting me out and about DARKSIDEDAN

#2168 At Waypoint thankfully I had the required area to myself and was able to take my time with counting and calculating. GZ on first attempt was a different story with a young family enjoying the area. Gave it a miss and ducked off to pick up a solved puzzle over in Hackett before returning to a clear park for my second attempt. Spotted it way up there, deployed the tool and made the retrieval. Replacement was slightly more tedious but all returned as found. Thanks DSD for the mint tins so far. Hopefully more to come.
We had to run some errands today which took us past the posted coordinates.
We had a little bit of time up our sleeve, so we stopped and grabbed the required information. Did our sums in the car, and came up with a decent answer. Arrived at GZ, and the coast was clear so a quick search around, and we saw the sneaky hide. Set about to retrieve it quickly, sign the log and return without much trouble. Thanks DSD for the hide.

Arranged another meetup with pantspeople after work, to do some more fishing!
Invited sebass19 along for the fun also, and we were soon all at GZ just after the agreed time due to a slight hold back on my end, apologies!
Retrieval was a breeze, but the return was tough. It took us about 20 minutes or so to get it back on it's perch, due to the fact that darkness had fallen, my tool is not as optimal as it could be and the loop is a little small!
But of course we persisted and eventually with guidance from pantspeople, who suggested I take a different angle, we had success!
Thanks DSD

Woohoo joint [2TF] with Loci612 and sebass19!
This geocache was another one where Loci612 and I teamed up. It gave Loci another day on his multi calendar and us a reason to take the long way home after work. Loci had the multi solved before we even got a chance to swing by WP1 so we accepted his work and agreed to meet at GZ.
The pantspeople got to GZ first so we scouted out and spotted the hide. We then had some time to kill so we ventured to a couple of other nearby hides.
It took a bit of fishing to get the container once we returned. It is a very high mint tin indeed but no cherry picker was required thanks to Loci’s TOTT arsenal. We look forward to tackling more of this series in the near future. TFTC.

Logging this now that ftf has been claimed. Didn't expect this one to be found in the dark, but Canberra geocachers are very capable, and can spot a dreaded mint tin a mile away.
I was with DSD during placement. My name is in the log.
Just when I thought the tree fishing craze had come to an end, it seems to have exploded once again, this time with multi-stage caches. That's fine with me.
TFTC DSD. Only 110 suburbs to go

Chooo ooo [found] ! Nice find here! Nicely done multi. Mind you I’m not sure the construction of the container will hold up against the elements for too long… Thanks DARKSIDEDAN!
Yabba Dabba Doo *FTF* with Aquilus1!
A bunch of publications I missed but saw this one still available 5 hours on, Aquilus was up for a night time adventure, so off we went. Information easily collected at WP1and soon we were having our heads in our necks starring at the trees in the dark. It took a while to spot in the dark, I was just ready to give up when A announced the find. Retrieval was working with some improvisation and also not easy to return (mozzies didn't help). We spent about an hour overall but we were very happy with that and also with the blank log!
Thank you DARKSIDEDAN for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

*FTF* with Flintstone's
When the message came through to ask if I was up for a little night time adventure, I was and soon we were on our way across to see what waited for us. The questions were quickly answered and the location looked good. A D5 indeed at night but coords were good and the options narrowed down... Took a little looking but to be expected really. The TOTT was to the max, and a little MacGyvering needed as the mozzies decided a night time snack was on the offering! The D5 here was in the location and pleased to have had the assistance of Flintstone's to get to it. Always have liked a bit of night caching, these type of night included! Thanks for the cache DSD.
