Quick find, but tricky retrieval with SJG66. TFTC

10-Feb-24
We initially felt this one very easily but retrieval was extremely difficult due to the wasps nest built above it. Fortunately we has heavy duty gloves in our tool kit to enable retrieval.

Found at 3:29 PM GAFF1.What a fantastic location! We were here 3 years ago to search for a cache on the other end which took us ages to locate because the co-ords were a mere 13 metres out! Thankfully the CO archived the cache shortly after to let someone who knows how to place a cache with co-ords that are precise and allows us tourists to really enjoy the surroundings instead of scrounging around in the dirt under a bridge! The water is so clear you can see all of the fallen timber and I am sure I even saw the sliver flashes of fish amongst the snags. Thanks to Thrips

Found this in the wrong place, deep down and covered with rocks. Grabbed a long handled ToT and retrieved the cache. It had been filled with dung and the log was torn. While signing, I was checked out by a guy in a ute from just up the road where there appeared to be some roadworks or building going on. He pulled up right behind me and I ignored him and he eventually drove off... slowly. I replaced cache in the correct place and filled the other with the rocks. CO needs to keep a close eye on this obviously muggled cache, maybe relocate it? Anyway, lovely spot, great bridge!

The GPSr was insistent on which way we should approach this one, but that road proved to be gated and locked. Sure we have been able to get up there in the past!
Anyway we diverted back and went to the cache up on the dam wall and then returned for this one. Again we are sure we have found a cache here in the past, but great to find another.
Plenty of water flowing down the river and the dam is exceptionally full for this time of year.
Enjoyed the suspension bridge.

We had to return home from Rutherglen for the weekend for a few important engagements, so it was a lengthy backtrack before leaving again and returning over the same ground to head for Tumut where we are looking after grandchildren.
Great to see an Adventure Lab in Tumut which we completed yesterday before getting diverted for a lengthy time at a local coffee shop and its caches.
Today we met up again with Roostaman and Mrs Roosta who came over to do the Lab as well as well as a couple of new caches that have popped up. Always good to catch up!

Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Thrips.
