Out and about caching with fitzy_1965.Today we targeted this group of Tankengine caches. It was a nice wander along the railway except for the blackberries! So many blackberries! After a bit of Macgyvering, fitzy made this find.
Found with minniek during another beautiful walk in Canberra. After a bit of a sleep in (oops we missed the event) we decided to keep to the rest of our original plans and drive in to Canberra for a walk through the bush and along a railway line. The last time I went out around this loop was March 2009 ! Parking at the Paintball place we headed off along the paths until we hit the railway line, which we then followed for all today's caches. This cache was a bit of a nightmare really. Blackberries ever where. We ended up making a makeshift bridge over them and once in I quickly had the cache in hand. Stamped the log, replaced the cache as found, then continued on to the next one on our list. Thanks Tankengine for all nine caches today !!
Found on my walk on these old train tracks after tracking down some ftfs. This is a cool little spot, out of the sun as well! Both entrances are pretty overgrown with blackberries which is always a shame, but they were no match for my determination for the cache! Thank you Tankengine for the cache!
Urgh, I can't believe that I climbed all the way down here to get the clues for the multi cache, and forgot to get this geocache. Not going back anytime soon - it's after 9pm and I'm STILL picking prickles out of my clothes!
A cool but sunny walk along the border track. A number of muggles on bikes and walking dogs also about, enjoying a breath of fresh crisp air. If only it was blackberry season. Cache found without issue, signed and replaced as found. TNLNSL TFTC
I had somehow ,managed to arrange to go for another walk this morning, so I collected Fitzy_1965 in Civic and we headed to the car park at the base of the Old Tuggeranong road. A little bit worried about the lasting impact of Saturdays epic hike, we headed up the trail from the cache on the highway to the railway line, and then headed along to the currently southern most cache I had not completed and then returned to the car for two other southern district caches before heading home for a break until it was time for the group assault on the Woden Flood memorial multi that needs a really long tool. It was a fun day and the walk just manageable.
I had the owner in mind and worked my down and up to the correct level pretty quickly. Once there I missed the very openly placed cache and searched under a very heavy pole, before turning around and seeing the cache. All dry here today.
Thanks for the cache Tankengine

A ride up the hill, then along the tracks till about 700m from the cache, then foot power took over. Cache easily found once at GZ. A lovely morning for a ride and wander. TFTC.

The first of two freedom day ride / hikes to celebrate my release from Covid-19 isolation. My cardio fitness is a lot poorer than I had expected after Covid-19 but I managed to get down and then back up the hills OK.
This was a ramble in the clearing fog along a very familiar section of the railway line to what turned out to be a very familiar tunnel. A short, slippery descent then the cache was found without issue.
I do like the railway line caches - thanks, Tankengine!

A beautiful walk to GZ after a short hike earlier in the day up the Bullen Range.
We took the obvious route via train tracks to the cache but decided to come back via the old walking track to the right of the railway line. It takes you high up onto the ridge line with lovely views over tracks and the mountains beyond. TFTC Tankengine.

I walked along the railway line some of which is underwater. The frogs are croaking merrily. I am wondering how wet is Dunns Creek going to be.
Near gz there are several possibilities, -
I can wade and try and climb up the now waterfall cascading out of the creek.
I can attempt a path through the blackberries
or I can search in a more accessible location
Since it is a 4 k hike in here (return) I persisted ; and soon came up with the goods. TFTC.

Riding the final 800m partly along the rail line and partly on the trail into the morning sun was very enjoyable .
Soon arrived at GZ and found and signed the FTF position with 2 kangaroos watching from the paddock .
A few planes went over in the distance but no other noises apart from the birdlife.
Thanks to Tankengine for rail themed cache and nice views to go with it .
