*12 Oct 2024, Found @4:18PM, Find # 3955.*A nice day to take the bike on the train and head across to the otherside of the city. This was a rather sneaky one. I love a repurposed cache. **Thanks to tackle_head for placing this cache.**
Had a caching day with Jascat. Took our bikes on the train and headed north to Newport. From there we made our way to the Newport Lakes Reserve, then to the foreshore. TFTC
Avenging all my DNFS in the area! Had to reach in for this cache blind, but found it in the end. Muggle heavy area, got some weird looks.TFTC
A bit of muggle traffic here today so i had to take some extra time to take a photo or two. Yesterday afternoon i realized that i had a clear day where i could sneak off for a cache or two today. I wasnt feeling a long day in the car so decided to head to Melb on the train. After starting the day at an event and cito in Newmarket i headed for Seaholme and Altona to find caches along the shore. The worst thing about living inland is that i miss the sea so this jaunt will satisfy at least two desires. If i finish the caches along here then i will take the train and get off at various stations to get some nearby ones until i head home. Altona Dog Beach Boat Wreck is find number 3,753 for me. A fun micro sized traditional cache I enjoyed finding as one of my caching adventures in Hobsons Bay City. I am logging this one on Tuesday 27 Aug 2024 at 2:18 pm and the weather is Overcast Clouds 19C 54% 10 m/s . Thanks for placing this cache for the rest of us to enjoy tackle_head.*Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Checked the GC.It is there in place and ready to be found with no maintenance required
After the find I wondered how I missed this one last week. Turning a frown into a smile feels great. Thanks tackle head.
Expected a magnetic bottle cap or nano, but could find anything. Had to move on. Maybe it fell?8/12 today. Decent run
Needing a walk coupled with the weather being decidedly autumnal meant that the Altona esplanade would be a perfect place to gain some exercise whilst finding caches with few muggles about making the finding much, much easier than compared to spring or summer. All caches bar one (there's always one) were found with much in the way of difficulty. I even turned a couple blue faces into yellow smileys. Many thanks to tackle_head for putting these out and almost as importantly diligently maintaining/replacing them as the need arises.I'm glad that Altona counts the CO as one of its residents otherwise I might not have reason to walk along its esplanade and areas which are being rehabilitated by its council/residents.My logs will include this standard blurb and then a comment or two about each cache separated from this blurb by a dividing line. ---Another of the caches I had DNF'd back in June 2022. Having made a quick find today, I can safely say it wasn't there back in June 2022. Glad to have found it today.
With dot558Looked around and also checked to see if it had fallen but not it was where it should have beenThanks for the caches
No dog but came anyway! Plenty of pooches and peeps. Out on trusty treadles AKA the MTB for a taste of sea salt and a dose of ozone on this rather lovely autumn day. Arrived in Melbs earlier from home base which is at higher altitudes for the convivial Vic Awards nominations EVENT. Always seeking nature where it can be found in the burbs and am impressed with the parks and gardens and trails and seeing so many people out enjoying the fresh air. TFTC and the FUN.
Found during the Victorian COTY Awards nomination event. tackle_head, thank you so much for placing it for everyone to enjoy and highlighting this area.
We packed the ebikes and headed to the big smoke for a couple of days. Day 2 of our bike riding and today our tour guide took us to Altona along the beach trails. The cache had dislodged and we had to ferret it out of the long grass. We think it is back where it belongs.A beautiful day to be out riding along here. Thanks for showing us the sights.
I found this cache today on my Mega Geocaching Walk #7 - A 29,000 step walk from Seaholme, Altona Coastal Park, Cherry Lake, Altona and Westona. Interested to see that there was a lady walking 8 dogs off leash in the seaside area. They were all off leash and ranged in size from large to a couple of very large ones. Don't know how she kept control bur she seemed to have them in tow. Thanks from D B-A
Out and about collecting some caches on a not so great weather day. Quick find here today for me.
My thanks for the cache, tackle_head.
My thanks for the cache, tackle_head.
A trip to Williamstown and Altona saw the rain hold off allowing for a prosperous day caching despite the gale force winds.
We saw something in the water sticking up which we presumed was the wreck.
Thanks tackle_head for the placement.

Rain sun wind and plans changed a million times..
But as the saying goes foul me once shame on me, foul me twice shame on you, foul me a million times - it’s the bureau of meteorology!
So discarding the notion it may rain, spiffy- and I set off on a spur of the moment caching trip out west.
Luckily my scooter skills have increased and I didn't end up in the ocean shipwrecked too.
thanks for the placement tackle_head and story information

A plan was hatched today to go for a scooter ride this afternoon with Kristysadventures along the foreshore of Altona. It was nice and cold so we had gloves and wind jackets on but it was perfect because it kept all the muggles away from the beach and bike trails we needed to use.
We found this one on the ground so returned it to it's obvious mounting point and continued on our way.
Thanks tackle_head for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Was a nice and sunny day for a change, So i decided to take the opportunity to go out and take the bike for a ride and cleanup some caching trails in altona, All caches were in good condition unless otherwise specified.
Thanks for all the cache owners for placing these caches for me and others to enjoy!.

I headed to Willy to do a few things.
On the way back the sun had set but I thought I would return here.
Rather mild night it was.
Plenty still out walking the woofers.
Me I new roughly what to expect here.
There it was where I thought it should be!

We looked...
We looked some more...
And then we looked even more!
It didn't make sense - CO had specifically come down and repaired the cache. How could there be *more* DNFs?
On very careful inspection, the button magnet was found that the cache should have been attached to. Aha! Could the weather have knocked the cache off its perch?
It sure did. Down amongst the long grass on the wrong side of the fence, a cache was found.
The boat is back in its port.
Thanks heaps for the cache, Tackle Head!

Took a while and we were a bit concerned with three DNFs after cache had been replaced. Hubby, wespro, found the magnet the cache should have been attached to but, clearly, the container had plummeted into the vegetation. After jumping the fence and foraging around a bit, we found it fairly quickly. Cache now back where it should be
We looked everywhere at chest height for a considerable amount of time without success.
Should have been easy but couldn’t find anything even stretching our search up down and sideways
It’s either very cunning or not there.

I'm not to sure but I think this was MIA.
Will keep an eye out to see if anyone else has better luck.
Found part of the polar aspect but not the part I needed.
I will return.

Another uneventful cache just waiting for me to find it. I really love caching around the Altona area. I was planning to head for Williamstown, but am just too pooped. Home beckons, via a cache in North Melbourne.
Walked through the dog area to get here (they sure love them in Altona!) Made the find easily enough, thanks.
Another evening exploring Altona and Williamstown with Donutholes on a colder than expected night.
The walk out was filled with great views of the city.
Log signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the Traditional cache tackle_head

Out and about caching with AusFox on this chilly Friday night!! Starting to think there is a theme with all these hides :p
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
It's International Geocaching Day once again and this year the fine folks at GVI have managed to whip up a cache crawl in what seems like no time at all!
Previously scheduled arrangements meant I couldn't attend the first few events of the day, but I joined buhfuhguh and SteMicMitSar at Devil Bend to continue around to Altona where we decided to disembark the party train to pick up some local hides instead for the remainder of the evening.
We had plenty of fun all afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed this new caching experience!
Following the Altona Meadows cache crawl event, we drove alongside Altona Beach and stopped at each of the traditional caches along the way in an effort to make this area look a bit more smiley on our maps!
We became very accustomed to a container that I don't believe I've seen since a trip to America a few years ago.
I also became very talented at guessing which side of the seats the containers were stashed away on, though it soon became clear that there was a bit of a pattern to it anyway!

A cache event crawl what an ingenious idea if I do say so myself. Seeing this day pop up I was more than excited to play a role, in a segment of it. With plans with Brain and Stemicmitsar to do the run from Cowes to Altona we were keen. What we didn't know was how under the pump we would be just trying to get to the events in time. All in all it was a great experience that I was glad to take part in. Thanks for being a part of a wonderful day out.

We were now finished with the events for the day, so we decided to find a few caches in the area but at the same time making our way slowly towards home stopping off at this one to make the find.
Today I headed out with buhfuhguh on this International Geocaching day to crawl to a few events and try to pick up a few other caches along the way, by the 4th event we had caught up with Brain to continue on the rest of the day and we ended up with six events overall.
**Thanks to tackle_head for placing this cache.**

After finding snagging a free hotdog at a National Tree Day stand, we found this cache. TFTC TAD
Nice easy find gps coordinates spot on...starting to get a bit busy now so some stealth required. It's slowly warming up which is much needed- was 2 degrees when we left home and headed for Flinders Street to catch the train here! Tftc
Out on my own today coming back from visiting my sister in the west. Just done the walk around the coastal walk (fantastic). Seeing that this one was so close I moved onto it. Nice easy find, cache in excellent condition. Thanks for bringing me here tackle_head
Headed out with Mudbrick this sunny winter's morning to find some of the local caches.
Mudbrick thought we may need to head out to the wreck. We went at low tide. We found the cache. The tides didn't matter .
Thanks, tackle_head.

This one was found in the company of the pacman, I may have overthought this cache, by checking the tide timetable, then wearing tweeds that would survive wading thru water out to the wreck. I did not bring a snorkel though. The tides did not actually interfere with locating this cache. Thank you the tackle head for the cache.
I'm missing something here judging by the uncontroversial finds that each previous log exhibits. I'll be back.

After the style of the first was discovered we hoped this would continue and we were right with this one being an easy find.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for this set of geocaches in this area, while a cold day, it was bracing along the waters edge and we felt very invigorated after the days adventures.

I have noticed these caches on my map since they were published not long ago and they were always in the back of my mind I must get to them one day.
So I picked another beautiful Melbourne day to go for a walk after work.
I can see why this place was nearly deserted as between freezing winds and the occasional shower only the dedicated dog walker or us mad cachers would come down this way.
It has been quiet a while since I have been down here and boy have they done a lot of work to this area.
I don’t have a 4 legged friend at the moment but it would be a great place to bring them here for a run and also for a swim at the beach (when it warms up a bit I think).
The tide was not fully out but I spotted something out there but not sure if it was the wreck.
I’m blaming the cold for taking me longer then it should have to find this one.
Thanks tackle_head TFTC.

If there was a boat wreck to spot we didn't see it in the fog and rain. Did find the cache however and that's what counts.
Thanks
