I suffered a catastrophic failure with my tree fishing TOTT a few months back and after some exhaustive research and a fair bit of coin, a new, you beaut TOTT turned up recently. After some minor modifications, namely the fitting of a boat hook, I ventured out today to test it out in the wild.Drove up to Toowoomba and arrived a GZ where I spent 20 minutes looking for the prize. Eventually spotted, I retrieved my new TOTT from the car and got to work. Had the cache down, log signed and cache back to its perch within 90 seconds flat. A successful trial run I must say.On a mission to Plug the Gaps in my 366 calendar and finding this cache has plugged a necessary gap that needed filling.TFTC. SL. TBs Prado Owl ; The Great Leap Forward Geocoin ; Bee Croc ; Rawhide ; RobS72 2000 Finds GC ; Forest Hill Ear Tag ; and Kiwi Bird visited.Find # 2154.
We did a quick stop here, and after stering up wards for a while, we spotted what we were after. Out with tott. We signed the log and replaced it as found.
The end of my tool is damaged and I had to stand on my toes to get it down. However I finally got it down and was able to sign the log. I extended the end out a few more inches and was able to put it back up quicker then getting it down. Thanks Tim for another cache stretch for this one
We are now heading north to avoid the coldest of the winter weather in Victoria. Today we headed off from Brisbane up around Ispwich towards Toowoomba.
Stopped off here and started wandering into hide before the special attribue needed. Back to car and with the neccessary TOTT with me, it was just a matter of spotting the good blending camoed container. It then didn't take too long to retrieve the cache, stamp and return. Made so much easier with no muggles.
Thanks WallabyWanderers for placing this cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy finding it.

I've been spending far too much time recently, perched in front of my computer while planning my geocaching activities for an upcoming overseas trip. I was therefore keen to have a day outside in the fresh air and Crookedpete willing participant to join me for the outing to Toowoomba.I was able to pull off a lengthy to-do list from my pre-sorted database and we gradually worked our way through our targets, including this one.The normally reliable Crookedpete, The Bromance's dab had with a tree fishing pole, struggled on this one for some reason. Obviously too early for use usual nimble deftness, or maybe a lack of caffeine in the system. Eventually the cache was replaced after our names were added to the logbook. TFTC
With a day free for caching, I joined Seffnjarah to visit Toowoomba and surrounds. We had a large list of caches to chase focussing on our standard "Bromance" caching criteria.
The Bromance cache filter for a road trip usually involves older caches, unloved caches, interesting puzzles and challenges, earthcaches, virtual's, multi's and letterboxes as well as interesting traditional caches - lots of favourites, rarer DT or required to qualify for a challenge elsewhere.
Tree caches were definitely on the list today and being right at the top of the range, this was first up in Toowoomba. Being a little cooler than down the hill, we layered up, grabbed the appropriate TOTT and headed to GZ. A nice quick find here, though it took a couple of goes to return everything as found.
All in good order. Many thanks WallabyWanderers

We spent a long weekend in Toowoomba, had fun with all the different caches, meeting cachers at two events, had fun.
We stopped here for this cache before heading down towards home.

Up early this morning and keen to get in a couple of caches before the event. I had made a small list for today. It was going to be a long and distance covering day as I had made plans to meet up in Toowoomba for Saturday afternoon. So it is Southport to tweed heads to Ipswich to Toowoomba and caches in between.
Arriving in Toowoomba and this one was on my revenge list. I had been here before and the cache was missing. On my way, I saw there was some recent activity and it had been spotted, so there was a good chance I could turn my blue face to yellow. I arrived and with tool in hand I headed over. This still took a few minutes to spot and only from a certain angle. Up went my tool and it reached it with ease, hooked it and brought her down. So happy to get this one off my map.
I signed the log and returned it to its lofty hide. Thanks for the cache.

Had a look at this one but my fishing pole isn’t long enough to reach will have to come back with better tools
When we arrived up the hill the entire place was covered in cloud. It felt a bit surreal and eerie that we were walking around in it.
Normally when you see a scary movie with this kind of fog, someone is about to die. It’s usually the good looking girl that’s keen to get her boobs out to make her mark on Hollywood and the only thing that made us feel safe was that we weren’t packing much in the beauty stakes. In case there was an axe wielding psycho in the vicinity I had Mrs Woodyrothwell’s breasts on speed dial so I could make an escape.
I’m far from the most elegant tree fisher you will ever see but my wife was too busy choking on cloud, and also working out how she could sacrifice me to make an escape from whomever was lurking in the mist. What a cracking experience. tftc

Another beautiful Sunday day to go Geocaching.
Out to find a few more caches with the 'Special tool required' attribute for a challenge cache in Brisbane ... and to top up todays date on my 'My Finds' calendar.
A quick find and grab this morning.
Thanks for the cache.

We are in Toowoomba visiting family and finding a few caches. At least this tree fishing cache did not cause us the grief the last one did. SL TFTC
Lovely trees in this park!
Looked up and located the reason for my visit.
Soon had it back on its branch
Thank you for hiding

Last minute decision to attend Brother Colin's event here in Toowoomba, Peppa and I are grabbing a few caches beforehand.
This was on Peppa's list, so parked nearby and in the rain, ventured in to GZ. Umbrellas do hinder you while looking skyward but checking out all likely trees, I spied what we came for.
Peppa whipped out his pole and managed to snag the cache.
SL then returned cache back to its hide. A bit tricky but finally got there.

A last minute decision to attend Brother Colin’s event today sees Patrol14 and I visiting Toowoomba for the day… It’s damp, and that’s slowed us down a little… but here we are…
After failing half way up the range, we arrived here not brimming with confidence… sloshing our way to GZ Geepers had us between a couple of trees… it was Patrol14 who spied the container…
A relatively quick catch and release… if you ignore all the pole wobble…tftc..

Blessed was I that the CO allowed me to join him on his maintenance mission for this one. My name was in the log and up it went into its new hidey hole. TFTC WallabyWanderers
We stopped here and started looking around, before too long we realised it was a tree fish. With the TOTT grabbed from the car, we then started looking at the right height. Hmm ... something not quite right here. Consulting some previous logs we saw what had happened so again changed the focus area of our search.
Sadly we couldn't find the cache near any of the tree bases in the park.
We will need to collect this one on the next visit to Toowoomba.

No luck here today, we spent a lot of time looking around in several areas. reading previous logs still no luck. Next time.
Staying in Toowoomba for a few days. Our last day in Toowoomba and the target set for today was to tackle the multi and AdLab at Picnic point. Picnic packed for the occasion and off we went.
Revisiting with info to be sure that we were at the right tree. round and round we went again still no luck. [B)] We then went round and round the base of the tree widening our search and eventually in the deep clover there was the broken cache on the ground. Log was about a metre from the tube. all reassembled at the base of the tree and photo sent to CO.

Jumped out here with our fishing pole but look and look but as much as we looked at 4 trees we could not see the cache.
The Eskies took emmkayye (who is visiting from Victoria) for a tour of some Toowoomba caches to grab as many types in a day that can be managed locally. After grabbing the letterbox down the range we stopped here as she was keen to have a go at treefishing.
I started looking skywards around GZ with no luck. After the others navigated around the soggy approach to GZ, emmakaye spotted it immediately. Oh, that’s not where I was expecting after reading the FTF log. We found the cache a good deal lower than anticipated. Confirmed with Davinells as to the location of their find and replaced back where it should have been. TFTC WallabyWanderers

Needing a trad to fill a gap today, I picked this one as it seemed a FTF was still up for grabs.
I headed up to the range after work and squelched my way to GZ. Spotting the cache was not an issue and I set about deploying the pole. It was only when the pole and my arms were at full extension that I realised there could be an issue here...I was just too short!
The upside down hook on the end of the pole was able to just reach and I flicked the cache off and happily added my name to the blank logbook, that was the easy part...I was not going to be able to flick the cache back on...
I looked around and found a stick and was able to undo enough tape to stick it to the end of the pole and gain that extra height. Then I used some elastic to tie the cache to the stick... the Macgyver skills were in use today! After a few attempts I somehow managed to get the cache back up where it belongs. Phew!!
