Having overnighted nearby I thought I’d take a wee bush walk.
After the rain of the past few days the stream was flowing a murky muddy colour and there was much evidence of debris from Cyclone Gabrielle back in February.
I think this cache might be missing in action!!
Thanks supernannny

Dear owners, as geocaching should be entertainment, rest time from daily routines and work I would like to enjoy every minute outside. So Im sorry that Im not wasting my time on writing story to every log and watching the display. I spent a lot of time infront various displays. I prefer to drop few more words to very special situation like obstackles to find, bad state of cache etc.., and if there is amazing story to share, of course. Thank you for placing the cache, taking care about it and understanding.

Oops forgot to log this one from the weekend. What an amazing tree! And the Byers walk had me thinking of Will Byers from stranger things and this tree leading to the upside down haha. Amazing place to stop en route to the falls. TFTC!
Byers Walk has always been a nice walk even before the upgrade. Great example of Northern Rata for sure. Searched wrong side of track at first but soon found what I needed. Tftc
Lovely weather for a caching excursion to Piha, in the company of both Tracey and Roy of Team Welsh.
Thanks for showing us this wonderful old Rata specimen. With 4 of us looking we soon had the cache in hand. TFTC

We had a very pleasant walk along here and a short side path of the main track and the specimen we were looking for was soon spotted. Mrs KC was onto this one pretty quickly and we choose to go back the way we came to get back to the main track as we weren't sure if there would be bridge over the stream. Turns out there is so we'll remember that for next time. TFTC
Such a nice tree!
I really enjoy being in the forest when the trees have grown so old and big.
Found the cache quickly!
Thanks!

Out at Piha with Vistra today for a bit of a walk. We went to Kitekite Falls to look for a few caches that weren't there on our last visit. We bumped into some other here who eyed us suspiciously as we approached. They moved on. When we looked for the cache at GZ, we couldn't locate it. Suddenly, one of the group of individuals returned with the cache in hand and admitted to us that they were geocaching too! They had grabbed the cache when they saw us approaching so that they could discreetly sign the log book and return it to its spot. It was only when they saw us looking in the same spot that they made the connection that we were on a similar mission to them!
Headed out to Piha with AliGle today for a bit of an explore. We took the walk out to Kitekite Falls and looked for a few caches that weren't here on our last visit. Funny thing happened here... as we approached GZ a few other people moved on, we then hunted for the cache with no luck, after a couple of minutes someone came running back with cache in hand and placed it back at GZ! nice to meet some cachers from Otago. We then signed the log and continued on our walk. TFTC!
Off to Auckland to visit our son after a busy school term. Grabbed a city hop car and drove over to Piha. Nice to visit this famous beach that, as Mainlanders, we had only ever see on “Piha Rescue”.
Walked up to Kirekire Falls and on the way stopped off at all the caches.
This was our second stop having been put off by muggles at the “Doctor said…” cache. Found quickly but took the cache down the track for signing as others approached. Looking bark the behave of the others suggested they were geocachers themselves. Signed log and the sent my son to replace it or hand it to the next hunters. Turns out we were right and we leapfrogged each other for the rest of the afternoon.

A nice walk up to the waterfall. New boardwalks and steps.
Great tree.
Merlot58 soon had her hand on this one.

Having been housebound with a head cold over the last week I jumped at the chance to head to Piha for the morning with Nette. Rain was threatening but once we were in the bush we didn't notice. My first time back here since the track was reopened and they have done a great job of the new path. And what a magnificent specimen of a tree!
MrsJAG was out with Supernannny in Piha, and as we had time to fill in we decided to check out the Kitekite falls. On our way back to the carpark we took a different trail, and found this amazing Rata tree. We stopped to check out this fine specimen and read the information board near gz.
This tree is well worth checking out, and so deserving of a cache.
Thanks S/N for this cache and a smilie.

Off to Piha to kill 3 birds with one stone: exercise, check on my caches and to try for a few {FTF}'s by supernanny including this one. The weather forecast was for horrendous weather, cold, blustery etc but when I got here, It was just windy, threatening rain but it never did rain, mostly I was just in my t-shirt, it was that warm. Quite the contrast I was expecting.
So parked up at the end of Glenesk Rd and soon spotted the new cleaning station, not one but 2, side by side. Went thru those and soon saw the familiar composite decking that council have been using on all their decks. Then crossed the bridge and found myself looking at a huge tree! A Rata in fact, but with a big hole in it. Started a search, as per the description, and not seeing anything that matched, I searched for a good 20 mins, then had to relent to PAF, this off course had to be the C.O. She put me correct and I found the cache almost straight-away. The hint was perfect. Thanks for the cache and the extra help supernanny. I'm amazed no one has already been here before me. A FP for the location, I must have seen that tree before but my memory isn't telling me so.
