It's DST again, which means after-work hikes! Began the season today with a return to Tidbinbilla, following the Man on Horseback trail past the rock of the same name, up to the uncannily camel-like rock and then up (and through a bit of thick bush!) to the "lookout" that Tankengine has found for us at Camel's Cobbles.

The sky was grey and moody but it was otherwise warm and dry, and it was a good stretch of the legs after a day behind a desk!

Thank you TE!

Today was spent caching in Tidbinbilla. The day was calm and mostly dry. I started by e-biking up to Fishing Gap and finding the 3 new caches near there. Next stop was a multi. Then it was back on the bike, following the fire trails to pick up another 4 newish trads. Cache easily found. TFTC.

Wasn’t sure if it was going to be one hump camel or two so got a picture on top of the 2!

Nice quiet spot and no wind around which makes it pleasant .

Many thanks to Tankengine.

[FTF] with StarsAlign!

The new cache emails had barely stopped pinging when StarsAlign called, curious if I felt like a morning ride around Tidbinbila. Of course! A quick departure in the GeoSuv with an appropriate e-TOTT loaded on the back, slowing momentarily to deposit the eldest geoteen at school, I rendezvoused with StarsAlign at Tidbinbilla.

The new electrified, geoacher-proof wallaby enclosure makes it slightly trickier now to pick the best ingress route, but we found a suitable way onto the trails we needed and zoomed off into a beautiful forest, managing to collect all three of the new caches.

This cache was found quickly at GZ.

With a little time to spare, we continued to Nil Desperandum, exploring the extent of the wallaby enclosure along the way (spoiler: it's really extensive, and there are several older caches contained within that are now inaccessible) before zooming back the way we came to the vehicles.

A fun ride, 22 km all up with 650 vertical metres of climbing. Impeccable company.

Thanks, Tankengine! I'd not been this way before. It's very pretty!

[FTF] ️ ️ ️ with mountainsbeyond

An unexpected early start after initially thinking that today was a sleep-in With someone else ready for a caching adventure it was all systems go so I headed south. With grandkid-duties early afternoon time was of the essence!

Interesting to see that the 120 hectare Tidbinbilla enclosure is now locked and electrified ️. The Brush-tailed Rock Wallabies are not permitted visitors. Therefore, the caches within the enclosure are no longer accessible. I was surprised that the caches were all still active despite these changes. I wondered if the COs were aware of this situation!

After picking up the three new caches here we headed off to 'On the way to Nil Desperadum' (GC74031) however it was now behind the locked enclosure. So instead, we headed off to the Nil Desperadum Homestead to pickup all the caches that mountainsbeyond had still to collect. Then off to Woods Reserve for a few caches in this location.

In all, a fabulous day with great company out in the Tidbinbilla Reserve eCycling over 20kms up and down the fun steep dirt trails that were all in good condition. It was mostly in glorious winter sunshine ️ until around 1:00pm when the clouds ️ came out to play, and then a light sprinkle set in.

This cache was a quick find in a beautiful moss covered boulder. TFTC Tankengine.
