Short Trip Away Day #3 [25/11] of 3Day three of my holidays (and day #3 of 3 for my trip away) saw me leaving the motel early to start the day. I started by heading over to Fyshwick for a couple of caches over there. For nice easy-ish ones. Three in the Fyshwick Forrest and one over in the park next to Maryborough St. After finding those ones, I headed over to Belconnen to find a couple of others and then onto the Mall for lunch. While at the Mall, I also did a game of 10 pin bowling because why not? I got a score of 120. Once I finished up in the Mall, I started making my way home. I found the next lot of power trail caches along Dog Trap Rd. I have decided on doing these caches section by section given, I drive past/through here so much. From there, I headed home while finding one more in Binalong before getting home. It was a great weekend away and I quite enjoyed catching up with everyone. TB visit. Some caches were signed as JM. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTCs! Found and Signed on 25/11/24. Unfortunately as of time of logging which includes today's finds, I do not qualify for this cache.
Spending some time caching around the NSW/ACT southern tablelands with lots of side trips. TFTC.A trip out to Murrumbateman for a winery and then a few caches. Nice. After 2 previous tries to find this one, I decided to bring a previous finder to help me. Spotted in 1 minute.
Slowly working through all the challenges I signed during my road trip to the Adelaide and Canberra Megas. Quick find. Trying to get my letterbox count up over 25 in NSW. Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.

The Mega has finished, but we are still in Canberra with family. Today we are in Murrumbateman to pick up a challenge cache we qualify for and a Clonakilla Shiraz for my daughter-in-law, her favourite wine from here. Sadly no botrytis wine for my son as theyve had poor wine picking seasons around here. Found with Roostaman. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for creating and maintaining this cache
Day #9 Geobashing - The last and final day!Time to make the drive home to Melbourne with a heap of stops to pick up things we ran out of time for on the way in. Will we make it home on time? Unlikely. We are already behind the eight ball after an unscheduled FTF hunt.Sometimes locations make us scratch our heads. Took a little while to find but spotted it as we were about to leave and checked some spots on the way to the car.[RoamingHowie](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=RoamingHowie) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC9XC90/70139 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.I found 1 (needed: 1) caches with at least 5280 Elevation (ft) GC38NAB 5892.38864 2020-12-30 Mt Buller SummitA big thanks goes to DARKSIDEDAN for taking the time to add Challenge Cache Series - One Mile Up to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Looking for caches to find when visiting Victoria? 12:43The final day of this Capital GeoBash trip.I need to be home tonight, as I'm expected at breakfast and a CITO I've organised for tomorrow morning. But that doesn't mean I can't take a bit of a scenic route... there are a couple of Challenge caches on Dog Trap Road. And a string of sausages. This was the second of the Challenge caches. Thanks, DARKSIDEDAN.Another to run the checker for... eventually.
I found this cache as I was heading back home to Adelaide after the Capital Geobash Mega event in Canberra over Easter.I was travelling solo again and took somewhat of a zig-zag route, following caches of interest. My main focus was on the non-Traditional cache types, although I did find a few others opportunistically. After a bit of rain the first day after leaving Canberra, its been great weather the rest of the time.According to the checker at Project-GC, I qualify for this challenge. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the challenge and the cache.
Found while attending the mega in Canberra. More big days of caching as WAC consisting of Lachlan1.77, Leg5, neva2old, Barnzy12 and me. So many caches, so little time. Too many tree climbs for my liking but Im a chicken from way back. Thanks to other cachers for helping supply some of the required tools for the higher terrain caches. Thanks to you for hiding and maintaining so many caches for us to find.
Nice to have something that gets me in! Was reintroduced to geocaching by a Swiss friend whilst spending a fortnight in the alpine country last northern summer (June 23). Heres my certified result. TFTC and the challenge itself
What a huge day was planned for today. I hooked up with Bluewattle to drive to Yass and around the areas to collect letterboxes and challenge caches. This was just before we were to meet up with Ardom to continue our caching travels for the day.First off was the letterboxes of the area (sausages) and a drive around a farm property collecting a few more which was super fun. It was then back on the road to our meeting point for a tree climb and meet up. the tree climb was a tuff one for me. We then worked out where we were going and how we would get all these in a day. It was an awesome day and I was super surprised at how fast we were going along. I guess it helps when the caches are there and in good condition. It was a super day and the CO's should be super happy with their caches in this area. Thanks for the fun we had today. All logs were signed and caches replaced as found.Seems I qualify for this one[chamad](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=chamad) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC9XC90/70139 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.I found 1 (needed: 1) caches with at least 5280 Elevation (ft) GCMJ2J 5301.83744 2022-01-15 Spirit of the Skier
Writing a note for now. Great to collect so many challenges, but now I need to spend time figuring out what I qualify for! TFTC.
A day out caching west of Murrumbateman saw Team JAR finding quite a few caches but leaving the high climbs etc to the more able cachers. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining their caches for us to find and admire the lovely countryside. Saturday and a free day in Canberra for Taurus Six and I . For the last couple of days I had been caching on my own whilst Taurus Six was at a work conference. After a lovely breakfast catch up with friends at the Arboretum , we had a good few hours to go off for geocaching before catching up with other friends later in the day for late afternoon drinks and dinner. We decided on a slightly different plan of action noticing that there were several letter box caches and challenge cache on the back roads outside Murrumbateman and Yass . Of course before setting off in that direction we had to collect the Adventure Labs at the Arboretum which took us to some great look outs. We love the way the Arboretum has grown and matured since we lived in Canberra it really is going to become a beacon for the future. It was a beautiful Canberra early autumn day a little bit cool first thing but by mid morning it was already warming up to be a beautiful day.The back roads between Canberra , Murrumbateman and Yass were nice and peaceful, everything very dry and the grass quite long on parts we were a little conscious of snakes , however the only creature we did see was a beautiful echidna that did not appear to fearful of our closeness. We are also quite surprised at the growth of both Murrumbateman and Yass not having seen them for a few years wow housing is going up everywhere. All in all for the day we collected 12 Letterboxes, 12 challenge caches , 16 Adventure Labs and just two dnfs . Thanks for the caches Darksidedan and providing a good excuse for us to revisit these parts. The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave me a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown me so many new and interesting places as Ive chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached with them and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we took a drive out from Yass to Canberra. We started with a hike up Mt Painter, a great way to start the morning. We were greeted at the start by some friendly horses and then near the summit by a large mob of kangaroos. After persuading them to let us pass to find a cache, we took some photos before descending back to the car. From there we set out to collect a long list of challenge caches and anything else that caught our eye. A nice variety of achievable challenges, the hides were all found after a short search. We enjoyed our time exploring this area as we went from cache to cache and will check if we qualify when we next get the chance. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.
Cache 10957 on 25 Feb 2024. Headed out with partner to Dog Trap road, him for winery assistance, me for some caches. After dropping him off, I continued north to the stock reserve to grab the letterboxes in the stock reserve I did not get last time I was in the area, then continued north and circled back to the winery via a few other caches. Eleven from eleven, although it was a close run thing at a couple of them! On arrival at this cache, I remembered 4 of us searching for ages and not finding it a while ago. Today it was a reasonably quick spot, but hard to retrieve and return due it being a bit high. A milk crate would have been handy. A few scratches, but name in the log. Qualification: [AngelG27] has used [Project-GC] to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.I found all 1 needed caches with at least 5280 Elevation (ft) - GC68EN3 13136.48336 found on 2018-11-10 - A Quito Beauty. It was a great cache!!!Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the cache and the fun!
Reperio 14:06This was Day 3 of our camping getaway to Yass to go in search for some of the local geocaches, and things got off to a very early start being woken up by some extra enthusiastic 4WDers, so we decided to leave where we were and resume where we left off yesterday. With approximately 150 caches found today, we had an awesome day with only about 10 DNFs, and managed to either replace broken containers or do some log maintenance along the way. This one proved a few headaches after we couldnt spot the cache from 15 minutes of searching. It wasnt until we took a step back and looked from outside the box that all was revealed.Gratias DARKSIDEDANAs a well spent day brings happy sleep, a well spent life brings happy death - LDV
A tour of cache finding to-day around the country side area to the south of Yass. Spent ages looking before finally spying, not an easy retrieval, I was about 1 inch too short to comfortably get it and had to really stretch. Cache found and log signed with dalerious . We came to Canberra with an immense and impressive list of caches. There was a huge variety and types, covering Yass and Goulburn as well .The priority for us this trip, was to sign as many Challenge caches as we could. There were many we had to hike for . There were a few that were not found which was disappointing, but plenty that were found and signed. Some beautiful country was covered by foot and vehicle, and we had a ball.I will be using this generic log for all of the Challenge caches, but I will mention if there was an issue with the hide, container or log where possible .Please accept my humble thanks for all CO's effort on placing out these awesome Challenges for us to find, sign and one day qualify for.I have logged all as a Write Note, and I will duly log them as Found as I start to work through them all .
Looking forward to putting a smiley here at next year's Mega.

Decided to go on a bit of a cache hunt today with ilook4geo even though it promised to be a hot day. We found a good selection with some being very easy to find and some taking more time.
This was a challenge we knew we had already fulfilled but the harder part was actually spotting the container. Eventually .... success! Happy to sign the log with a feeling of achievement.

Tough one. We searched unsuccessfully for some time, and then resorted to a phone call to a previous finder. They were vague about this, with little memory of it, but then did (vaguely) remember something. Still needed a little searching, but it was of help. Then fitzy_1965 and minniek turned up. After which suddenly Decrypter spotted the cache. We all signed and were on our ways again. This was the closest to a DNF today, but fortunately none today. I qualify. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN.

Last minute change of plans meant Saturday was now free. So plans were made with ALL7 and Rapidlywild to go and collect a few caches that had popped up on the map. Actually there are heaps to do but getting the time to do them is rare.
Weather was ideal for caching which made for a pleasant day out in the countryside.
All caches we attempted we found including a couple we could see but valued life a little more to attempt. So no DNF's for us today which was nice. All caches that were found were signed with either FAR (FurfacesLL, ALL7 Rapidlywild) or individual names.
Always love a challenge cache especially ones you qualify for without knowing.

There were a couple we didnt attempt due to their placements but thats all good. Took a good search before it was found by GH who had the reach for it too luckily.
Out on a sunny day for a few caches, looks like summer has turned up finally with the countryside finally brown and an abundance of grass seeds, dust and flies... got to love summer!
Great to get out though and head out along the Yass area roads once again! Thanks for the cache.

Out on a lazy weekend drive around the back roads of Yass...again.
Super friendly locals who honk loudly as they drive passed my safely-as-possible parked car...some even did a U-turn so they could do it from the opposite direction. Good times!
Skipped nearly all the trads, focused on the challenges and the used-to-be rare types that are everywhere up here.

I joined up with up Smitten Granny for a morning caching to Murrumbateman and beyond onto Dog trap road for as many of the new caches as we could to get to a nice round twenty five caches. Whilst it did not rain on us today, it was very wet underfoot every where and there was road fixing getting under way on Dog Trap road near the Murrumbateman junction. The walk around the stock reserve should have been done in gum boots, but we made it without having to find a canoe.

I have been out caching with Albida33 this morning. Most of our finds were letterbox caches but this nearby challenge cache was just too inviting as both of us qualify.
It took a bit of time to discover the little blighter but eventually we won. It did include a bit of monkey business to obtain the log which I was happy to perform so it could be signed.

Well, I qualify for this Challenge however, sadly after a short hunt, it eluded me on my 'Letterbox' trip today. I shall return with a bit more time in hand and hopefully a few more pairs of eyes to assist.
Needed a few caches to top up the daily tally, so headed out with Sol de lune to collect some of the newer caches in and around Murrumbateman and to make our first foray into the "Sausages of the World" series. Achieved our target for the day with eleven from eleven, plus this challenge cache. Adding a not here until I can confirm that I qualify for the challenge. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN
Out this way to grab a few in the series with LuckyL10n. A little wet underfoot but nothing that would stop us. Signed this one and will check to see if I qualify.
Thanks DSD...cache all good.
