Day 15 of my fortnight+ road trip up to Brisbane and back to Blue Mountains. Will my geomobile repairs be completed today? Nope! Heading home in a few days via a rental car.Another find after dinner locally, whilst doing one of the local Adventure Labs. Thanks FelixII for the local letterbox hybrid hide.
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 159 - Logan to Warwick. It was time to move on, even if nearly everyone else was going the other direction. The road from Ipswich to Wawrick over the Mount Mitchell Pass was a constant stream of traffic, making stoping and turning quite difficult. However, amongst the traffic I managed to stop for several roadside or near road side caches. It was a short day, but that gave me time in Warwick to do some of the Labs there and a cache or two as well before cooking dinner and spending my last night on this trip in Queensland. Before I went to the campground, I went around the edge of town to check out a few caches. As I got mount of the car I saw a likely spot and the cache was soon found. Thanks for the cache FelixII49570.10 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2015 19,000 Finds A#314**Albida**
GCLOGAN is over and it's time to head for home, but I really needed a letterbox for my personal challenge. I found 3 along a route that I was confident that could find quickly. Only one problem it was a pretty long way home. But caching is caching , right? This was one of them and it was quickly found and signed. TFTLC Felixll
Warwick Day 2This morning we headed to Leslie Dam a spot we have camped many times, then worked our way back into town looking for caches. After lunch we plotted a trip around town picking up many AL & caches as well.We went to mnany interesting location & found some very good caches. Thanks FelixII for hiding this cache.
Heading to QLD from WA picking up a few LGAs on the way. Thanks COs for placing and maintaining
Another letterbox to our finds, and a good hiding place. It was time to move on, but only a short distance to Warwick. Car trouble has meant we will be here for a while, but that is enabling us to explore more than we normally might have. The number of older historical buildings is impressive and well worth a look. There are a number of Labs and other caches to keep us busy, and we will take the opportunity to explore a bit wider.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache FelixII.**SKI Pair****
We came out for the day from the Scenic Rim to explore Warwick and the surrounding area, and of course, to find some caches. This cache was located quickly. Loved the hiding spot! TFTC
So after a weekend away in Stanthorp, we were on the drive home to Brisvegas. I had a quick look at the map as we pulled into Warwick. Decided that this cache looked interesting. As we pulled up I double checked that I had the coordinates correct because nothing looked like a hiding spot. Anyway, Notquiteyet and I hopped out to have a closer inspection. Just as we reached gz, a quick peer into a little nook and what do you know, a decent sized log container was found. All was good with the log sheet here. Noted the stamp present but did not have a log book of my own today. Thanks very much for creating this cache FelizII. Cheers
Some rather neat investigative work by Swellerfungus resulted in some plans for a long overdue Bromance outing to Warwick and surrounds with the intention of locating a unique hidden piece of Queensland's history and placing a cache there. Unfortunately, the injury prone Fungus tore a ligament off the bone and required surgery. Then DeznJez's dodgy ankle flared up, leaving only the injury free and truly committed SeffnJarah and I to hit the road.Seff and I both managed to get away slightly early from work, and were on the road to Warwick by about 4.30 pm. After checking in to our cheap and cheerful accommodation, we dined at the RSL, before braving the evening cold to collect a select list of Warwick's finest caches, including this one.As we drove into the lower lying area en-route to this one, we were enveloped in a thick fog. Another easy park and grab find at [20:16], where I handled the park and adjusting the car heater to the correct temperature and Seff took care of the grab in the obvious hole. Thankfully the fog was thick enough that we did not need to worry about the muggles over yonder wondering what we were doing. Many thanks Felix IIPete#7,940
FelixII I found your cache Allman Park on 8/5/2024, 11:00AM. This is my find 6622 and find # 8 today. A quick and easy drive by. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Day 3 of the last phase of our journey now towards home. (7 weeks away) Collected a few caches around Warwick before saying Hi to our caching friends. Not sure which way to approach this one. The road being half closed for road/drainage work. Is it inside or out? Found a way in and then out and there it was.Caching with and signing as the group 'Q3' and having a great day.TFTCache FelixII
On the road today. Signing logs as Q3.There was a road closed sign at the intersection, so we went via a backstreet, only to find drainage works blocking our access from the street. So we found the gates open and walked just 90 meters to the cache. Off to morning tea with Dunmowin then finally heading home after 7 weeks on the road. Log signed and cache replaced as found on April 10, 2024. TFTC, FelixII
Camping at a local 4wd Park near Goomburra and LadySim and I had set aside a day to visit Warick and some surrounding caches. I had solved some local puzzle caches and set off to see some parts of warwick that I had previously not visited. Thanks to all the CO's for keeping these caches in good condition.I thought we were going to have trouble with the roadworks going on, but a good and interesting hide was soon spotted, and the cache was in hand. Nice Letterbox cache thanks. All on order with this one.
The nearby sign made me start to question what i was doing poking around this fence
As we were driving around Warwick today. We thought we would check on the mail. Gotcha. Tftc
This would be a super hard find on race day. Thankfully no one was around today and made a quick find. A great spot. TFTC
Down in the region partaking in a parkrun. Decided to grab a couple of caches whilst here. Everything was found in good condition, signed and returned as found.
bunadoorian and I were in the area and thought a letterbox cache would be great to find. bunadoorian soon had the cache in hand as I made sure our stamps were showing the correct date. TFTC and for bringing us here - FelixII
Another nice diversion while I had some time in Warwick. A quick find between traffic. The logbook was stamped and the cache returned. TFTC.
Quick find on our stop in Warrick. Really enjoying this town and will have to come back again when the jumoer and jaz show is in full swing. Looks like lots of fun. Tftc
Was up here today for Dunmowin's birthday party which was a pleasant morning event that ran well into the afternoon as all good events do.After we finally said our goodbyes, I scampered around finding a few caches and ad labs before getting on the highway back to Brisbane and this was one of them. Needed sharp eyes for this one, all good here.TFTC
Took a moment but found in a perfect spot.
Greyhams and I have been on a mission to see as much of Australia and visit as many of the LGA's as possible for some time now. This trip was Queensland, flying into Brisbane and a full 8 days on the road stopping for as many of the caches of interest we had time for as we passed through.
Leaving Brisbane northwest was our direction, as far west as we could go all the way to Birdsville. Of course, it is a Geocaching trip so it zigged and zagged as needed to cover the areas required. Yulaba, Charleville, Barcaldine, Ilfracombe, Longreach, Windorah, Birdsville, back to Windorah, Quilpie, Thargomindah, Cunnamulla, St George, detour to Moonie for a FTF, Wyaga, Warick and the home run back into Brisbane for our flight home.
Love the driving as we left behind the trees and entered red earth and sparseness, always a surprise though passing through areas of yellow grassy plains, although generally open flat land in all directions was what greet us. Wildlife was in abundance and never have we seen so much. Emus dominated for 1000's of km, cattle as we passed through their grazing lands, but also pigs in numbers we didn't expect. Echidnas, goats, horses, a giant goanna, foxes, and birdlife that does well on the overnight roo casualties. Still no camels though, they have to be out there somewhere!
The country hospitality was a highlight, great friendly people, Queensland hotels full of history and character. They all were great but the Wellshot in Ilfracombe needs a huge shout out for being the stand out of this trip. Leaving the car at Windorah and flying into Birdsville not only saved a day of driving but the scenery flying low over the countryside was spectacular and memorable.
Also memorable was waking up on the second day with the best case of laryngitis I have ever experienced... no voice, none! To top it, it lasted the full trip only returning by the end, I'm not sure if I pity GreyHams for having to deal with me squeak in an attempt to talk and silenced, or he had the best trip ever!
The days were full, either full of km's or caches but never dull with so much to see or do. The caching grounds are rich thanks to the QOGM events, it's definitely a great location to hold them. Many thanks to all the CO's for your caches that helped guide us as we travelled through Queensland on a great trip.

Last cache found on the trip..... other than the 21 AL's we did in Warwick!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to get all the counties, or councils, or "LGA's"?....... well, I have learned the hard way, albeit quickly, to do the "hardest" ones first!
We could have just driven from Canberra to Perth to get the amount of kilometres, but instead we thought we would push ourselves a bit harder, drive a bit further.....and do the south west corner of Queensland!!
It has to be said now....Queensland is a bloody large state. I mean ridiculously large! We drove east back to Brisbane for almost three full days! Yes, we stopped for a series of letterboxes, and all of the 'county' areas, and even a FTF, but it was ludicrous!
After our flight from Canberra, and collecting our rental, we head off west from Brisbane, on a mission to collect every LGA we could get.
Aquilus1 lost her voice after the first day, which made the rest of the trip much easier for me....I had to do all of the talking, and it helped I could argue both sides of every argument....and I always won!
Outback town hotels and pubs are so cool, and I love stopping at them. When I started caching I was wary as I only knew city pubs, which are very, very different.
I tried many a schnitty, and the odd steak, pizza or burger.... this truly was the outback pub tour of Queensland.
The Qantas museum was a special highlight, as I am a proper Qantas fanboy......I have done waaaay too many miles on the red roo!

Hi there FelixII, we found your cache Allman Park today.
Day five touring Warwick. Today we are actually geocaching in town. Previous days have seen some great geocaching, and today is looking to be the same if not better.
This is our third find for the day after a string of DNF’s, so it’s really good to find. Something with swaps are trackable and a large container.
We’re thoroughly enjoying our tour around the countryside today, & so far we’ve found quite a variety of container types, sizes and ratings.
Coordinate Accuracy: We found this cache near where our GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: Good.
Regards
Ian & Penny

A beautiful morning to be outside and do a little geocaching ... and I brought my bike.
I ended up cycling just over 40km and finding 8 geocaches.
They all were found fairly quickly though 1 or 2 had me searching for a couple of minutes.
All were dry and in good condition.
I also grabbed the TB that was in here.
Thanks for the geocaches.

Sims_family and Dromaniax are on day Four of a our 10 day trip to Queensland and back again towing a 12x8x7 foot trailer that is loaded to the hilt and weighs quite a bit. Fuel efficiency has gone out the window with the Ginja Ninja (My Orange Mitsubishi Triton) going through fuel faster than I have ever seen before.
Day Five and the day to start heading home, a day we will make it to Armidale.
With the trailer we are keeping it simple when it comes to caches so this was a good one for us to grab on the way through. A nice quick find in a logical spot.
Thank you FelixII for the Letterbox

I joined Willis007 and Chamad for a drive to Guyra today finding as many caches as possible above 1000m for a challenge. It was dark by the time we arrived back in Warwick on our return but none of us had previously found this letterbox so we were keen to find this last one before heading home. Luckily it was a quick find. Tftc
Heading towards home after a great day out at Guyra and Glen Innes, we stopped in Warwick to collect a few caches here.
We can never go past a letterbox cache! After signing the log we piled back into the car to get home.
Thanks FelixII for the cache.

With the holiday Tuesday, Willis007 came up with a cunning plan. The plan was to go for a long drive to complete a particular challenge cache. We are heading to Glen Innes and Guyra to collect some high altitude caches and a few fun ones along the way. It is going to be a long day with Willis007, Kolour and myself. All three of us have set goals and a few extras to collect but we all want those Tuesday caches. With only a couple of stops along the way we were making good time until. I spotted 4 new FTF’s in the area. We ended going for the walk on one and grabbing the ftf, awesome.
Working our way home now and it is 7pm driving through Warwick. I noticed a couple of caches, as we were passing, well sorta. We needed a stretch so good excuse and an easy find here. Seems my ideas towards letterbox caches is working, lol, as we stopped here.
We signed the log, replaced as found and continued on our way. Thanks for the fun we had today and placing this cache here.

We had the opportunity to spend Easter in Stanthorpe so took advantage of the days off to find some caches while we were there. We stopped here for a quick find on our way back home. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
Making my way to Bald rock and Girraween for the weekend and left early to pick up a few extra caches.
My initial guess was wrong so stepped back and looked around and spied the hidey hole. Left dog TB to carry on. Tftc FelixII

Feel I have a small bit of ownership of this property through inheritance. There have been many rellies visit and invest in this establishment so it was good to finally stop here. Not too sure what part I own and that will need to wait for a future visit. So onto the cache, found in a logical spot. Thanks for giving me a reason to stop here FelixII.
Rolling up to GZ and surveying the area I did wonder where on earth is cache would be...what a neat little hidey hole. TFTC FelixII
This weekend, an overnighter at Girraween National Park was planned with the aim to tackle Mount Norman. An early start on Saturday had me attend Warwick parkrun and visit Warwick, Leslie Dam, Stanthorpe, and then Girraweeen to walk to Underground Creek. On Sunday, it was a walk/hike through Girraween's south vicinity visiting Mount Norman, Castle Rock, and Turtle Rock, before venturing across the NSW border, and then heading northwards via Ballandean and Stanthorpe, detouring past the *Elementary* series and *Stan's Apple* series.
Today, my plan was starting out the day with Warwick parkrun at 07:00 hr, and subsequent geocaching within the Warwick area. I also visited Leslie Dam which was a nice picnic spot, before then detouring back through Warwick for a late breakfast, and continued my onwards journey south along the New England Highway to Stanthorpe. I found a few of the *Snow Flakes* granite geocaches, partially conducted the *Fruit Run*, drove east past Stanthorpe Airport finding some of the *Stan's Apple* geoart, before then visiting Mt Marley and Quart Pot Creek. We then took a late afternoon walk in Girraween National Park to Underground Creek, before establishing our campsite for the night.
A cool area of Warwick, and a nice hiding place for this sizeable container too! The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks FelixII for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Found by Mary and David at 10:35. This was a very special cache for us - it was our find #46,000! That has taken us almost 21 years, and many trips around Australia and overseas. For each milestone, we try to pick a cache owner that we know well and see as often as possible. A bonus in this case is that Mr Felix and Mr maccamob share the same two Christian Names. Wonderful to be in Warwick and to have this FelixII Letterbox to mark our milestone. Thanks to all cache owners who have helped us to achieve this. Dropped off "Patrick Star TB". Our thanks to FelixII.
We took a day trip to Warwick to get us out of the house and clear a few of the caches in the area.
I parked close and hopped out and the GPS started me going in the wrong direction. Once it sorted itself out I headed to the correct spot for a quick find.

Great to see a variety of new caches around Warwick. Once we arrived at GZ it was a quick find. Thanks.
Overnighting in town and did a quick drive to find a few tonight.
Heading south now picking up new LGA’s.
The irony in the sign at GZ
What a year Sandyofthesea and I have had. We kitted out the Prado and took off from Perth, Western Australia at the start of April 2022 to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. We started with the Nullabour, Eyre and York Peninsulas, the Riverlands, visited family in Victoria and then back in SA it got cold. Flinders and the Oodnadatta Track was cold and we finally warmed up in Dalhousie Springs. The Alice beckoned and then change of plan and ended up tackling the Tanami Track to the Kimberley and Bungles Bungles. Territory Day in Darwin was unhinged - please try and do it! The Gulf, the coast and the car breaker ‘Old Tele Track’ to the top of Cape York. This is a must but it’s not easy! Eventually made it to Brisbane to get some fixes to the car….. let’s see where we end up.

It dawned a beautiful day so geohubby WallabyTim, Zelda the WoofyWanderer and I decided to go for a country drive. Before being joined by all of Davinells, Snickersallan & E_Smiley for a couple of nights at Queen Mary Falls I got to spend the day in Warwick hunting the new caches, a couple of archived caches and anything else that I stepped over (read: made a huge detour to find)…
I arrived at GZ and thought “wtf”…
Thankfully it didn’t take long to cotton on to what was required here….

Have been saving this one for a rainy day, or Geocaching World Record 2022 day.
Geocaching World Record 2022 came first, so this nice little local cache nearby was on my radar.
On Geocaching World Record 2022 our special find was an easy find, aided (or abbetted) by our good friends FelixII, who agreed to supply the Warwick community with a few more caches.
Thanks FelixII or your help

I saw this one come up the other day but I was away. Saw that it had been found so was not in a hurry to find this one as I had a gap in the calendar for this date so I came here at 2000 hrs and checked my mail. No mail but I am the second to sign this new mailbox in Warwick.
Thanks Felix for this one, might go home and see if I can work out the 2 new ones that have been published.
