An interesting tree with a huge scar from boat making. I wonder how many years ago this tree provided the canoe? After a CITO event in Victor I decided to take a different route home and find a couple more caches.I do enjoy cruising along in the countryside, taking in the various views, colours, smells and discovering new places.TFTC FreddoKeep smiling

With a day of warm, sunny weather, before a week of clouds of and rain, I decided to make the most of it and head out for a day of caching. One of the targets for this afternoon was to head to Scott Conservation Park for a good stretch of the legs and search for a few caches. Having done what I was after in the conservation park, I decided to go after a few caches in the nearby area before heading home. All caches were found in good condition, unless otherwise stated, in what was an enjoyable afternoon making my way around the dirt roads of country South Australia.Find #11222, at 03:24 pmTFTC Smile

This is the largest scar tree we have ever seen. It is amazing that thick bark could be prised from this large tree to make a substantial canoe. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Freddo for the cache and for bringing us to this wonderful location.

Wandered off to see some river views and a little southern countryside with Purrfect Di and Sebastbat.

Found this spot, a tree, a cache, and signed your log of course too! Might need some of these soon on the rivers nearby! Slight sense of deja vu here. Razz

Much appreciation to Freddo for placing and maintaining this cache on our ever expanding SA geo-map Cool

Exploring allover wherever we can - searching, spotting hidden items and signing cache logs using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just a guess or plain old dumb luck WinkCoolBig Grin
Plenty of the luck stuff actually !!!

*Almost all the online logs are composed and published with GSAK of course.*

Beware ! Caching is a very hazardous activity!
Look out for sand, mud, floodwaters, snakes, surprise cliffs, roos, wombats, things falling from trees, bulldust, and floods, and try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall off your ladder...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- and do watch out for bugs !!! . [xx(]

Ensure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on Wink (Covid cancels caching!)
Keep a safe distance - cache the countryside Big Grin

Great of all those placing quality caches out and about around the country areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game fun, and interesting Cool

We do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, apparently! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Wink Maybe if I worked out where I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and we can put an end to these long logs !!!

On a road trip with locus cache and the K9’s we stopped at swan hill to grab some lunch on our way to Adelaide for a few days.

Another lovely day in Tailem bend with BettyBoo3747 and the geodoggies.
We drove down to Victor Harbor to do some AdLabs and assorted caches (and ride the tram out to the island). Unfortunately, it was drizzling, cold and generally miserable in Victor Harbor so we changed plans.

I hope the creek had a bit more water in it, that would have been one heavy canoe!
Interesting history on how they made their canoes.
Thanks, Robmc.

#20153. Day 19 of our holiday in SA . Plan A was to drive to Victor Harbor to do some AdLabs and take a trip out to Granite Island. It was a sunny morning when we left Tailem Bend. We did some caching on the way and as we neared VH the wet, cold, drizzly rain moved forward to meet us. Also with the start of the school holidays the place was so, so busy. We cut our losses and turned to Plan B - that was to head back to camp and grab a few more on the return trip if we could without getting too wet. Managed to find 28 caches and do a couple of AdLabs.

Amazing tree and very interesting cache page reading. Patience indeed and such ingenuity.

Thanks Freddo

We like our canoes made of fiberglass, we dont think our canoe building skills would be anywhere near as good as this trees gift to the boat world.
