Not really a swimming day and i didnt bring my togs anyway but I was wondering if i was going for a wade today. The tide is up so it turns out i was, nice one. Yesterday afternoon i realized that i had a clear day where i could sneak off for a cache or two today. I wasnt feeling a long day in the car so decided to head to Melb on the train. After starting the day at an event and cito in Newmarket i headed for Seaholme and Altona to find caches along the shore. The worst thing about living inland is that i miss the sea so this jaunt will satisfy at least two desires. If i finish the caches along here then i will take the train and get off at various stations to get some nearby ones until i head home. The Red Shed - Slippery When Wet is find number 3,757 for me. A fun micro sized traditional cache I enjoyed finding as one of my caching adventures in Hobsons Bay City. I am logging this one on Tuesday 27 Aug 2024 at 3:29 pm and the weather is Overcast Clouds 20C 51% 11 m/s . Thanks for placing this cache for the rest of us to enjoy tackle_head.*Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Checked the GC, it is there in place and ready to be found with a brand-new log sheet.
Hello tackle hear, you must have followed me in to your cache. I found a spot in the log before you replaced it. A bit of time spent here, but found in the end. There was a couple of rats running around the rocks so I was a bit jumpy so log signed and off to the next one.Greytiger
Came back for a second attempt after the tide brin a bit too high for my liking last time. Managed to hold on to the edge of the bridge and lean over the water to grab the cache- but then i realised it was chained there! Had to blindly open and obtain the log book over water, which was not the best idea. Thankfully I didnt drop anything into the sea Favourite point for giving me a real good time and challengeTFTC
**21/04/2024, 09:30:00****Find #5746****Traditional Find #3445**I headed over to Williamstown with SteMicMitSar to attend the Cache of the Year Nomination event and also find a few caches of interest. We were lucky it was low tide when we attempted this cache. With Steve carrying an ankle injury, it was up to me to walk or rather limbo that last couple of metres to where the cache ought to be. I couldn't see anything that looked promising but then chanced upon something that looked a bit slimy and it turned out to be the cache. It looks like it get covered at high tide but the paper is water proof, so its all good. **Thank-you to tackle_head for placing this geocache**
*Found on the 21 Apr 2024 @ 9:30AM.**Cache find # 15562.*This morning, I headed Altona way to attend the event at Cherry Lake with biggles1024.We had a bit of time to fill in before the event so we went about finding some other caches in the area.Last time I was here, the water level was a bit high and I wasn't going to get wet feet so off I went,Today we headed over to see where the water was at and lucky for us, it wasn't too high.Mark went for a look and was able to get into the right position to locate the cache, the log was signed just as we got an alert of a new cache about 300 metres away, so we headed over to that one next. **Thanks to tackle_head for keeping the game going by placing this cache.**
Phew not wet. Out on trusty treadles AKA the MTB for a taste of sea salt and a dose of ozone on this rather lovely autumn day. Arrived in Melbs earlier from home base which is at higher altitudes for the convivial Vic Awards nominations EVENT. Always seeking nature where it can be found in the burbs and am impressed with the parks and gardens and trails and seeing so many people out enjoying the fresh air. TFTC and the FUN.
Found during the Victorian COTY Awards nomination event. tackle_head, thank you so much for placing it for everyone to enjoy and highlighting this area.
I couldn't find this one, even as a couple of kids with gumboots helped me search.
Out on a beautiful sunny day with the kids and the dog. A bit of a slippery one and the log is full of water. Lucky its waterproof. TFTC
We packed the ebikes and headed to the big smoke for a couple of days. Day 2 of our bike riding and today our tour guide took to us Altona along the beach trails. We sent Mr Morris down for the hunt with lots of advice about being careful.A beautiful day to be out riding along here. Thanks for showing us the sights.
D2 you say.Well I would definitely agree, but not the way I went about it. lolFP!
feet very wet, but i did find it, next time ill go at a lower tide haha TFTC
Found this one pretty quickly after reading hunt, such a cool hiding spot TFTC!
I decided to head to the westside of Melbourne today to try and target a few caches that would help my progress in qualifying for a few challenge caches. This one was quickly added to the list as it had both the **"Scenic View Nearby"** and the **"Dangerous Area"** attributes. I have been trying to hunt down caches with this combination of attributes, as I have started to try and qualify for [TeamStArnaud's](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=5e9e85eb-7cb1-4154-aec9-629670234ebf&wid=d1152cb9-c189-4d4c-9545-055c265a6d09&ds=2) [Scenic But Dangerous Challenge (GC8105X)](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC8105X).After getting heavily rained on at a previous cache today, I was no longer concerned about the **"May Required Wading"** attribute. So I ended up parking at the [recommended parking coordinates](https://www.geocaching.com/seek/wpt.aspx?WID=4ab05d3b-de22-4b4b-bd94-d162639d57be&RefID=4043a3cb-50c7-496b-b4d6-47da63f7dd29&RefDS=1).People coming to the area today must have been unexpected, as I ended parking the geomobile near the only other car in the parking area and got a view more than what I was expected. I am not sure if this area is a bit of a *"Lover's Lookout"*, but I believed I intruded on some muggles doing the deed.I quickly moved the geomobile a bit farther away and headed towards GZ. I assumeed that the muggles were too *"busy"* to pay me any attention and so I went about my search uninterrupted. With the time of day that I went the water wasn't too high and so I was able to climb around a bit and spot the cache without getting my feet wet. However, I wasn't able to quite reach it, so I went back and changed the shoes for sandles and waded out to the cache. With the weather being a bit cool and rainy today, I was expecting the water to be really cold, but it was actually quite nice. I really enjoyed wading around in the water today and after a bit of fun I decided to get down to business.I was then able to retrieve the log, sign it, and replace it without dropping my phone or the logbook. An accomplishment I was quite proud of lol.A big thanks goes to [tackle_head](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=d024a775-f453-4235-ba15-35afc14e848e&wid=4043a3cb-50c7-496b-b4d6-47da63f7dd29&ds=2) for the fun today. TFTC.**Cache Maintenance Status**The cache container looked a bit worn down due to it's exposure to the ocean water. However, it was in decent shape. The logbook was damp, however, the paper is waterproof so I was able to wipe it dry and still sign it.
There was a fisherman at the cleaning bench as I arrived, however they were just leaving, so all clear to remove shoes to make the find; not really low tide. TFTC
I found this cache today on my Mega Geocaching Walk #7 - A 29,000 step walk from Seaholme, Altona Coastal Park, Cherry Lake, Altona and Westona. The tide was right in so I was hoping that I could get to this one by a reach around. It turned out that I could so then started the task of obtaining and replacing the log one handed and at full stretch. Pleased to report that there were no incidents. I had passed the old Bring Ya Rod #4 cache on route to this one. Thanks from D B-A
I'm pretty sure I found this one. I got one hand on it, but that's as close as I came to being able to sign the log. So it's a DNF for me. Maybe I'll return in summer.
My thanks to tackle_head for placing and maintaining it.

Today, Spiffy-, his geokid and I headed out to continue the cachemas fun.
After a nice serve of fish n chips, spiffy- suggested this detour as it was the only green dot left on his map. The geokid and I were less keen as it was completely, submerged in icy water last time. However hurrah to spiffy- as he had done his tidal research and it was a much easier retrieval today.
Thanks tackle head for a second visit.

Today my smallest geokid, myself and Kristysadventures headed out to find a few Cachemas caches and to go for a scooter ride as well to keep the geokid interested in staying out for a few hours.
I was very pleased today that when I checked the tides before leaving we finally arrived near low tide so a nice quick find was made. We had no chance last time we were here unless we wanted to turn into ice blocks so had to move on without a proper search.
Thanks tackle_head for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

I like souvenirs, so with the current Wheel-of-Challenges souvenir campaign, it means that I have to pursue a 28-day caching streak during this winter month. There's no shortage of local caches - it's just my (streaking) mojo I have to work on.
I'm also keeping this endeavour as eco-friendly as possible, so the additional walking and cycling will probably provide me with a few random Garmin Connect souvenirs too. (Well, I am a sucker for colourful pixels... errr... I mean digital 'art' ) .
Today's outing was a 5km cycle to the foreshore and this GZ. Winter is definitely a better time than summer to be around here, even if it means having to get into much colder water.
I had ventured out here when this cache was first published but couldn't find it. Or rather, I didn't want to get in the water so left the FTF for someone else. Today the allure of a caching streak lured me back to GZ where I dodged some fishing lures. The hint and logs made it obvious what needed to be done. Even at absolute low tide today (which happened to be 0.4m) there was 15cm of water to walk in. So just wet feet. The cache was found easily once at GZ.
Thanks, tackle_head.

Day 4 of 28 - Cycled 25km - along roads/KCT/detours/FT/KCT/roads again. Found 2 caches in the northern part of the KCT.
Day 5 of 28 - Drove to Geelong, completed an adlab plus bonus.
Day 6 of 28 - Found a cache near the morning's Brimbank parkrun.
Day 7 of 28 - Drove to the KCT and cycled 9km. (A DNF followed by a find.)
Day 8 of 28 - Cycled 5km to and along the Seaholme foreshore. Feet wet for a cache.

Thanks tackle_head for this little gem. Very clever, thankfully a low tide too as we cycled by.

Retrieved low tide wore a helmet as I always hot my head under structure looking for the hunt
With such a beautiful Melbourne afternoon I decided to make the most of it as the rest of the week is not looking so good to be out and about.
So after work I headed on down towards Altona way as I just work up the road.
I have been here before but the tide was not in my favour so every so often I check the charts and today was perfect as low tide was at 4.02pm and I will be there then.
There was nobody around as I thought the weather might bring a few people out but I was able to get in and get out and it was a bit slippery underfoot but I was able to stay upright.
A fav goes out to you for this one.
Thanks tackle_head TFTC.

Watched a couple of fishery officers dishing out a fine, from the sound they were denying they new anything about limits..... justice. Bit slippery, but cleverly hidden, T4TC
Only peeps were out on the end of the pier, and any bystanders were more interested in me with my MD than BackPAQer ducking in for the cache. Thank you tackle head.
Yea we have low tide!! Was able to avenge this one today thanks to dad parent!
Out for a walk to grab a few we haven’t before.

Between the last one and this, SueHut actually voiced her concern. "It was really novel earlier, but it's getting a bit repetitive now."
BAM!
Something different.
So different, I nearly twisted my ankle on the cache title.
A temporary conundrum, a moment to really stop and think...
Thanks heaps for the cache, Tackle Head!

With me having a slightly dodgy knee, hubby went “under” for this one. Glad ride was low
Out doing a bit of caching with Chewin', and we realised that it was about low tide.
We hot footed to this cache that I have missed a couple of times due to the tides.
Today was easy.
Thanks, Robmc.

Timed it nicely today. Hardly any obstacles and soon found and logged. Thanks tackle Head
I was a little better prepared today.
The treads were the right attire.
So I was soon looking here and there.
Before to long I was signing the log.

Finally back at work after being off for 8 weeks with my knee and my caching days came to a screaming halt.
Finally able to hobble around a bit so it was time to find a few new caches that had been placed down this way since I have been off.
The cool and windy weather must have have kept everybody inside as the beach was deserted this afternoon with only a few people out for a walk.
Well I got to GZ and realised that the tide was in so It would be either go for a swim or come back when it is low tide.
Low tide won out so as they say I will be back.
Thanks tackle_head TFTC.

Found by Mary and David at 14:00. Not as bad as Eagle Rock, but our third visit today. Think tide too high, or muggles sitting on the pier close to GZ. Today was the day though. The tide was favourable, and D brought his gomboots. While D was getting them on, M as usual disrupted the process by chatting to passing muggles, thus encouraging them to hang around longer than otherwise would have been the case, and the minutes ticked by. Finally the coast was clear, and D carefully approached GZ. Water only just over the gumboots' feet, and the cache was quickly located, signed and returned. A FP! Our thanks to tackle_head.
Oh now this is more like it, and I love this one muggle partner stood guard up top and I went under.
When we arrived we were alone when I replaced the treasure and tried to come back up every man Michele was on top. Isn’t that always what happens?.
Nevertheless we love this one. A favourite point from us. TFTC tackle head

I passed this one by, as the tide was high, and I had a fair idea of what would need to be done. I was unsure of exactly what level of submersion would be required, so I quickly phoned a friend, who gave me the rundown. Having been assured that I did not need my scuba gear, I waded in and proceeded to find the cache. This is brilliant, so glad I did it. Last one for the day, heading home from Seaholme.
Out with echidna44. After a thorough search we gave up. Decided we would give it another go on the way back, so the shoes came off the pants were rolled up. Finally! Success! This was engineered so well, a fav point from us for the rollercoaster we endured to get this one. Thanks tackle_head.
Out with pinnacle333, we had a very long but enjoyable day caching in the Altona area.
We looked for this, decided we couldn’t do it, but had second thoughts on our way back. We saw sea urchins and a sea star while the geo-dog took a dive.
A fabulous cache - well worth the effort. A favourite point. Thanks tackle_head.

Suscoe continued our Sunday afternoon drive and our next stop was here.
Lucky for us that the tide was low. No shoes were harmed in this retrieval.
The log was signed and Suscoe was back in the car quite quickly.
Good timing on our behalf.

So slippery ... and wet.
A very, very tricky find for us here today, but luckliy not feet were made wet in this expedition.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for placing this geocache here for us to find today, for without those who like to hide geocaches, there would bething around for those who like to find geocaches.

Bugger it I’m here I may aswell get a bit wet. Off coke the shoes and socks . Picked a moment when nobody else was around. But knowing my luck . Someone will always come when I’m doing something like this. Had people walking over my head probably not knowing I was there. They probably just saw the shoes and had no idea who they belonged too

Back in the area with Rebel Acts to catch up with tackle_head and put some smiles on the map.
It was great to finally meet tackle_head but not luck getting any clues on Eagle Rock.
Words to describe this cache today.
Wet
Winding
Slippery
But after a few laughs we soon has the log stamped

Today we decided to head over the west gate and Tackle a few caches in Altona (pun intended), we were also keen to do a few of the new Adventure Labs in the area. This area has some great history and fantastic architecture.
This is one of the caches found today. The CO had mentioned this new cache to us and I was keen to give in a go, checked the tides and our arrival would be two hours after low tide, should still be ok I though and it was, it would not be the first time I had gotten wet and dirty doing a tackle head cache, we met up with the Co at GZ, first Omegaman took a look but was not keen on getting wet, so the old Rebel stripped of and took the paddle, thankfully I only got wet and not dirty and did not slip over, good fun.
Thanks tackle_head for the cache. FAV for the fun experience.

There were a couple of muggles around but none right at GZ. Made the clever find after a couple of minutes. A suprising 2TF.
Tide was a bit too high and the access a little too slippery for us to tackle today. We will return. Our thanks anyway to tackle_head.
