Today we decided to travel to Goulburn to do a little caching. The weather is perfect for it.We have had some solved puzzles that needed collecting also. Thanks to all the COs for their hides.2 lots of tott applied.
Find# 11443Nice easy find.We have a free day to create some "Smileys".Maintenance was carried out where logsheets were mush, missing or caches damaged. TFTC my_name_jeff_1 5 July 2024
After staring into the wrong tree for about 10 minutes, managed to find it.TFTC
After a morning CITO, FFLL ladies and I headed up the highway to do some Goulburn caching as there were alot more unclaimed smilies to collect. Time to knock off a few more of the elementary themed caches. Thanks for the cache placement by my_name_jeff_1 and thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun day out and about
Found with barnzy, Leg5, Lachlan1.77 after this mornings CITO.After an early morning start for a CITO nearby I offered my ladder and pole to the WAC boys from the west, on condition I could tag along. They had a number of high D/T caches they had planned to get and just needed some TOTTs to reach them.A fun morning of caches with these lads.TFTC my name jeff 1Keep smiling

Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. We rolled into Goulburn at sparrows fart this morning for a CITO. We met with Jolly0, who had the equipment required to complete some fishing and ladder caches. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers my_name_jeff_1! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!
The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 6. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WA/WAC (WA Crew)
Ive had all sorts of problems spotting tree fishing caches today but this one I did see. Right on the height limit of my TOTT. It took me about 10 attempts to replace the cache to its lofty perch. -After spending 4 big days in Canberra for the Capital Geo Bash, it was time for me to leave Canberra and head towards Goulburn. I decided to spend a night in Goulburn to tackle a bunch of high terrain and/or high terrain caches, and pick up some solved mysteries. Thank you my_name_jeff_1, for placing Hydrogen for the geocaching community.# # #14639 # #
On our way home from the Mega event in Canberra and my son was super keen to go fishing. We I pulled into Goulburn for a snack and decided to try our luck a bit. It didn't take long to spot... the retrieval, on the other hand, was a bit of work, and my shoulders were burning by the end of it. But we had the log and signed it. Surprisingly, the return went very smoothly and took next to no time at all... very strange.TFTC
Four years ago, a Bromance team adventure to hike Australia's highest 10 peaks in Kosciuszko National Park was cancelled after bushfires devastated the Snowy Mountains (and indeed most of the Eastern seaboard). We finally returned to Kosciuszko National Park a few days ago and spent three wonderful days in perfect weather hiking a circuit around the mountains climbing all of Australia's 13 highest peaks and collecting all the alpine caches along our route. After a recovery night and some caching in Canberra, we made our way to Gouburn last night, where we enjoyed a big feed at the pub before an early night. We have lots of caches planned today on our way to Sydney, so we got an early start. It has been a ghit and miss start to the day and this series. So far one find and a DNF at another. No problems here -my extra long fishing pole was put to good use. Whiklst there, a train rattled by over the old stone bridge. Thanks for bringing me here, Jeff Pete#7,726
Crookedpete, JezNDez and I were part of a group of 7 geocachers from Brisbane who set off on a 3 day hike to climb to the summit of 13 of the highest mountains in Kosciuszko National Park. Originally this hike was supposed to have been undertaken after Xmas in 2019 but the rampant bushfires closed the park just as I was picking up my fellow team members from Sydney Airport. Now, four years later and it is finally mission accomplished and after staying the night in Goulburn, we are slowly making the drive back to Queensland, collecting a number of caches on our to-do list along the way. After a DNF at the previous cache we were happy when this one was spotted in reasonable time. We had brought along Crookedpete jumbo-mega fishing pole which made light work of the retrieval here. Signed the logbook with The Bromance team stamp to save room. TFTC
Wow this is the highest yet! Had the pole at full extension and held it up as well. A pretty seamless retrieve and return however. TFTC!
The cache was not replaced in the tree and is located somewhere in the grass. We could not find it in the dark.
Found along the trip from the Sapphire Coast to Sydney. After our first unsuccessful fishing cache in Goulburn foiled by a magnet, we decided to attempt one more 'traditional' one today. It took us a long while to spot the cache, but once we did it was a quick retrieval. We signed the log, however upon returning the cache, it blew off the hook in the wind and fell into the grass. We were unable to find the cache after over 20 mins of searching, and had to abandon as it was now dark. We are sorry that we were unable to replace this one. TFTC and FP for first fishing cache!
Mr Minion and I are spending a few days in Goulburn finding caches, we are really enjoying the town and the variety of the hides. Took a bit to spot this one , its pretty high , lucky I got a new pole for Christmas. Thanks for the cache tnln replaced as found sl
Maybe not the first cache of the day, however, definitely the first element. TFTC
A hot day perfect for car caching with the team. We had a target list of caches and pretty much stuck to it. With home duties calling we split up mid afternoon with two of us having a little more time in the day. Found Fitzy near this cache and strangely it DID count as another cache - man that was a lucky find. We had a lovely quick chat, found a cache together (well, we did the retrieval and return) before we headed home for my 5pm commitment. TFTC my_name_jeff_1.
There were a few of us here for the CITO and so we also took the opportunity to get this cache. Another one down on the periodic table!TFTC
Found with a few others while we were at the CITO today in Goulburn. Good chance to collect another in the element series. Tftc
On a day trip with The Rats and Steeba, targeting caches in and around Goulburn. Cheers
Headed down Goulburn way with The Rats and Hoojar to tackle mainly Periodic table series caches- plenty of interesting places and hides, with some TOTTs required. A good day out all around.TFTC!
Itd been a while since wed been to Goulburn, so a days caching with steeba and Hoojar was mapped out.Armed with our TOTT we picked up a good handful caches in the area. Thanks to the COs for placing the caches.TFTC
Getting some value out of the pole today with the kids as helpers. A quick spot and easy retrieve even at full extension. TNLN TFTC

Day 3/4 of our Mittagong/Goulburn Trip.
Today we targeted lots of good DT’s around the Goulburn/Brayton area, while also grabbing letterboxes and other cool cache types in between. We found some great caches in some amazing areas.
Why is this the highest in the series so far, and only a D4?!? Quickish find although the retrieval was a bit more difficult. SL TNLN

Today we’re caching around Goulburn. We have grabbed the odd roadside rest-cache here in previous stops, but have never spent any time caching the area.
We’re chasing some DTs we need today, and of course anything that appears at our bow, plus the essential trig points.
Wow, pretty high for a D4… Full extension 10m pole, plus arm length…. Dicey branch too, I hope it isn’t too windy soon!
Thanks for the cache!

5/6/23 - When I heard that there was a CITO on in Goulburn, I knew I could go but would my car make it? I am having car problems. However, waking up this morning, I decided before the rain coming later this week, I would go out and find some caches and attend the CITO, today. This is one of the caches I DNF or found and added to today's Geocaching adventure. I had a bad start with six caches becoming a DNF or a NA due to muggles. Once on the next second half of the day I started to actually find caches. I ended up with 23 finds for the day. Also, before you ask, yes my car did get me home. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO's of the caches I found today and for allowing them to bring the Geocaching community enjoyment. TFTE & TFTC's Thankfully, I had a past finder with me who knew approximately where it was and had the right TOTT to find it. A quickish find at GZ but took quite a while to get it down, sign and replace. Thanks for another fishing pole cache, my_name_jeff_1 and to Fitzy_1965 for the use of the TOTT.
If it’s hydrogen, it is definitely going to be high!
We have come to realise that any of the elements which are gas in this series mean that we need to really look up!
This one earns its difficulty rating, being quite tricky to spot. We had our TOTT fully extended and we made sure of a very careful retrieval, as it would be awful to lose this one on the way down in amongst the long grass.
All good, however, and after signing our name, we returned it to its lofty position.
Thanks my_name_jeff_1

Last find before heading to the library to run some errands in time for tonight's proceedings. I came here a few weeks ago but didn't have confidence due to previous DNFs but it turns out the cache was found on the same day so I definitely was just not looking hard enough! I came back today and spotted it reasonably quickly however during the retrieval process the sun was hurting my eyes and I lost the cache from my hook and couldn't see where it went! I searched on the ground for ages fearing the worst (it's a huge area to search when the cache falls from up high) but I poked my pole around the branches above and sure enough, it had been caught so after poking around it just fell straight down. A bit difficult to replace too, but tree fishing caches are very rewarding. Lovely riverside area too. TFTC!
To early to go home so spend some more time caching in and around Goulburn this morning before driving home after lunch

Chooo ooo [Found] with dty73 , Joolay and Kittykatch - Nice find here, once we picked rhe right tree!! Thanks my_name_jeff_1!
Joolay, Tankengine and dty73 found the start of the walking trail and happy it was easier to access this cache. I wasn't expecting the lovely old rail bridge here and it was cool to see it up close. We went under the bridge to find GZ close to the path. Then had to decide which tree. Tankengine spotted the container and did the retrieval. Thanks for hiding this cache my_name_jeff_1 for me and others to find.
Bit hard to choose the right tree but we persevered and spotted it eventually. It was higher than the last one but the TOTT was up for the retrieval.
Thanks for getting me out and about my_name_jeff_1

Three trees could have concealed the cache, I didn’t see any caches in any of them, sigh…

Joined the **MCO** expedition with **Purplepeopleater**, **bella at waggy**, **Baktrak**, **Team Merlin**, **TARDIS 0061** and **Asbestiform**. After a hearty breakfast in Mittagong, we headed off under threatening skies and cleared out our targets in that area.
Then off to Goulburn to cherry pick our way through the periodic table.
By the end of the day, the tally was around 50 finds after venturing further down the Hume to Goulburn and surrounds.

The MCO gang was on fire and had this down like the Hindenburg. Thanks my_name_jeff_1.
Joined the grumpy expedition into the southern lands for the day. Inspired by the new movie "A Man Called Otto" our group including teamMerlin, Baktrak, Purplepeopleater, bella at waggy, crash2079, TARDIS 0061 and asbestiform with all physical caches signed under the name MCO. With the cache in hand, we signed the log then replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache my_name_jeff_1.

What started out as a twinkle in my and bella at waggy's eye for a southern highlands incursion earlier in the week for some periodic table cheery picking, turned into a full scale grumpy expedition. Inspired by the newly released "A Man Called Otto" (which is an American interpretation of the fabulous "A Man called Ove") and the "apparent" similarities to several of our group's demeanor and appearance, the expedition was officially deemed the "Man Called Otto" expedition (OMC) and comprised: myself, Baktrak, Crash2079, Tardis0061, teamMerlin, Asbestiform and bella at waggy.
This was very challenging to spot and the previous log led us somewhat astray, but finally it was spotted and retrieved. Gets a fave point.

Wonderful expedition to the Southern Highlands and flat bits between Mittagong, , Marulan and Goulburn with the "Men called Otto": Baktrak, bella at waggy, Crash2079, Purplepeopleater, Tardis0061, teamMerlin and me. Logs signed MCO. Various cache selections typically with uncommon DT ratings, squid fishing and climbing along with a few longer walks. Weather held off. Thanks to all COs for your efforts.
PPE and myself had been talking about some select targets on a southern day run. We decided to not be too antisocial and moved the day around to suit a few others which came in handy at one of the other caches. The group consisted of PPE, Crash, Baktrak, teamMerlin, Tardis 0061, Asbestiform and yours truly. Targets included puzzles, poles, ladders and some not so common DTs and high D or Ts plus a few others en route.
Logs were signed as MCO as what became known as a Man Called Otto expenditure after the recent movie release and some grumpy kidding around. We completed the signing duties and re hid.

We found it.
We couldn’t see it in the tree the GPS indicated and decided to check the tree closer to the path and there it was. Only 6m out for us. All good here.
Thank you

What a great day mostly with thanks to GLISS! and Nibletricecakes for organising three events and a CITO that guided us around a fantastic loop of caching activities.
I was travelling with Albida33 and Sol de Lune so thank you also to them and all the other geocachers who attended, some of whom came from as far away as Sydney.
We were incredibly lucky with the weather and all caches we went for were found in good condition. They were signed and replaced.
Big thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining the caches that add to our enjoyment of our game.

Out with Albida33, Smittengranny and a whole list of other caches to attend the 4 events around the area today. After Crookwell, it was time to head towards Goulburn, collecting caches as we went.
This one took a bit of time to spy and then another few minutes to get to the log. However, patience is a virtue (apparently) and in the end all was good and our names were in the log.
Many thanks for the cache and the series my name is jeff.....

After a long day yesterday, I turned around and joined up with Sol de Lune and Smitten Granny for the loop out to Ginning, Crookwell & Goulburn for the four events on offer. In between we tacked some of the caches in the region and a few new ones in Goulburn. It was a great day seeing many different people along the way and a great team with on going discussions about plans in the car all day.
This series of periodic table caches has been a great way to discover the region and make some great cache finds. The Gas elements add an extra challenge to these caches. I was happy to have help spotting it today.

#20 for the Grey Baron. With the Grey Baron extended to its fullest and Dan standing on his tippy toes and holding the Grey Baron in one hand, we were still about a metre short. Should we give up?
If we were playing in a World Cup final and were well behind, we may have to concede defeat. However, this is geocaching and therefore far more important!
Fortunately, we had the 2.6m telescopic ladder in the car. Leaned it up against the tree. With the ladder leaning precariously on the uneven ground, Dan had to control the Grey Baron with one hand whilst holding onto the tree with the other. This time we had more than enough reach and were soon grinning just as much as any World Cup champions.

I think this one was the highest of the tree fishing caches we found today! Almost a full extension of the pole, maybe just one section left from memory!
Luckily it was very easy to spot however despite being such a large tree covering a big area, it is certainly in the most obvious spot

An evening visit to Goulburn for tonight's events with AngelG27. Already dark by the time we arrived for the CITO so I was glad I brought my torch. 6 attendees wandered along the new path and back collecting rubbish and a couple of trads along the way. Fortunately we had a previous finder with us otherwise the cache may have been hard to spot. My pole was just long enough to retrieve the cache. FurfacessLL were present as well with there longer pole so they expertly replaced the cache. TFTC

Last minute decision to head down to Goulburn this evening for the two events as one of the team members was feeling a little under the weather. But tested and not anything too sinister was found so off we went.
While at the CITO we headed out with TikvaNZ and AngelG27 to collect some caches along our CITO wander. Both having T'sOTT in the car we were prepared to search and fish.
Luckily we were with a previous finder/helper so cache was spotted easily enough.
TikvaNZ did the retrieving honours at full stretch, AngelG27 did the writing duties and we replaced it just as swiftly, thankful for the bright torch of TikvaNZ's.

Cache 9238 on 14 Sep 2022.
Headed to Goulburn with TikvaNZ after work to attend a couple of events. We managed to grab a couple of other caches while we were there, happily!
This was one of them. By good planning, both TikvaNZ and FurfacesLL both had some TOTTs with them to make the retrieval of this cache possible. It was at the maximum reach for TikvaNZ’S TOTT. Tricky to spot in the fast falling dusk! I did the legals before FFLL sent the cache skyward again!
