LVsnooks and N headed over to Braeside today to attend jascat's 4000th cache milestone event and went home on a gmj3191 tour along the beach road to grab a swag of Archibald caches that N had previously solved. Found this one on our travels. We got the ideal parking spot, but there were two muggles sitting in their car almost directly opposite. We were just about to give up on waiting them out when they got our of their car and went for a walk. N took the opportunity to have a quick search of GZ and the cache was spotted when just about to give up. This one is certainly a park-and-grab! Thanks gmj3191 for placing this cache.

Good find, parked so close to it.

While enjoying a "cat sitting" sojourn in Balaclava, I am taking the opportunity to get out and find caches in areas I don't get to all that often. Today's little outing was a train trip to *the end of the line* at Sandringham. A big part of the reason for choosing Sandringham was that I needed both a Multi and a Mystery today for two different challenges that I am working on. My first attempt at finding this cache today was thwarted by a couple of tradies having lunch... but after a suitable diversion on my part, by the time I returned, *the coast was clear!* Once I had worked out the best direction to approach, the cache was easily found. Thanks **gmj3191** for putting this cache out.

01-Aug-24
The weather gods have been so kind to us giving us a beautiful calm sunny winters day to cache on our trip to the other side of the bay on our long weekend mini break. We were able to use the fact that it was a weekday to our advantage as there were significantly less muggles around to see our shenanigans searching for caches in somewhat busy locations. This is certainly a gmj319 day with many puzzles solved, long awaiting to be picked up and working through all the local multis we worked our way down beach rd zipping in and out of all the car parks. The Archibald puzzles are always a favourite to solve as you familiarise yourself with the impressive artwork looking for the clues. Thanks gmj3191 for the mystery placement.

Out today locally to collect some Archibald caches to complete the set. Until a couple of days ago, I had only completed 7 of the 14 of these yearly caches. With the success of 2024, I was determined to give the other 7 a proper go and thus, with a couple of mistakes fixed by the CO, I managed to solve them. This one took a few minutes to locate and, after logging it, another couple of minutes to get the lid back on properly. Glad there was no-one around at the time. Many thanks to gmj3191 for the cache.

*4 May 2024, Found @9:43AM, Find # 3806.*An enjoyable evening of puzzle solving and perusing some rather interesting art work. Another one found on the bike on a rather fresh Melbourne morning. **Thanks to gmj3191 for placing this cache.**

Another archi knocked off on a bike ride todayThanks gmj3191 for Archibald 2022#6154

15-Apr-24
Did the puzzle a few days ago and decided to get out and grab a few languishing mysteries. Great puzzle, I always love looking through the various portraits, bad or good. Once at GZ, fairy quick find. TFTC!

Another day to tick off the list! Coming upon Day 95, now only 4 days from me previous streak record! oooooo exciting and continuing to clear out this area. So after rocking up hear on the return home from my friends place practicing for the national championships, I was quickly running out of time of the day to tick this one off of the list.So needed a non traditional today I quickly went off and decided on finishing off a Archibald cache for today. Arriving at GZ I quickly spotted a glimmer in the dark and the cache was quickly in hand! Thanks for the cache and the little adventure!

05-Feb-24
I always enjoy the Archibald series. Solved a little while ago and went to GZ yesterday on the boiling hot day. Needless to say there were so many people out and about in the morning before the temperature hit it's high in the afternoon, that we couldn't look for the cache without being seen. Today was very different and it was a quick grab. Thanks gmj.

01-Feb-24
Oh, I love these Archibald puzzles and have a few solved ones still to be collected. The Peoples Choice is always a favourite of mine, but there are a few pieces that I wonder how in hell their work were selected in the first place (obviously I know nothing about Art).Busy area this morning. While I was on lookout, Steve ducked in to make the find.Cheers gmj3191.

22-Jan-24
We have sooooo many solved puzzles that we decided today would be a Priority Puzzle Pickings day. We also had some TBs which had been in our possession since late last year so we wanted to move them on (in Traditionals) This one was solved a while ago. At GZ we circled and circked and circled some more and finally GMelb found the sneaky blighter lol We had planned to find at least 3 more puzzles today but because of the long lunch escapade this ended up being the last one. Never mind we will be back another time for sure lol TFTC gmj3191 - GJMMelb

I found this cache today on a trip to the coast. Always happy to have one of this series solved and found. Thanks from D B-A

27-Oct-23
Always enjoy solving these Archibald puzzles, usually after being frustrated by them first. But it is always interesting learning almost the new set of images.Off for another Friday evening geocaching run. Tonight I selected the Sandringham area with the nice weather and the bay views. Could have been a busy area but it got quiet with just enough time for me to look and find this one. Thanks for the cache GMJ 3191Hunter

I have been attempting to try and solve / find more puzzle caches, as I would consider myself a puzzle novice at best and what better way to work on getting better at puzzles caches, than just actually solving puzzle caches. So I turned my attention to work on qualifying for [ahomburg's](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=1ded3729-fe62-40bb-9f5f-fd559e7163b1&wid=2ea93f43-d6fb-4f7e-938a-bacef589ab2c&ds=2) [WCW - Almost a Complete Mystery Challenge (GC9Z59N)](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC9Z59N), as I am never as motivated as when I am working on trying to qualify for a challenge cache!Well I have been enjoying working my way through the Archibald series and so I turned my attention back to another one in the series. After a lot of googling I was able to work out majority of the answers. However, there were two that had me stumped. So I had to resort to some educated guesses and through the process of elimination I was finally able to get the checker to work!*Woo hoo!*Now I just had to find the cache, well I was in the area today and with needing to find a mystery cache , I made this one the target for the day.So I hopped in the geomobile after work and made my way to GZ. I was able to home in on the general area of GZ rather quickly, but there was a lot of vegetation and plenty of spaces for a cache to hide. I ended up reading some of the previous logs, and one gave me a hint that I may be looking on the wrong side. So I hopped back over to the other side and made my way around looking as I went, when eventually I was able to spot the well hidden cache.Of course, that was when some exercising muggles came up. So I had to wait a bit longer, before the coast was eventually clear and I was able to retrieve the cache!A big thanks goes to [gmj3191](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=b4585843-0564-409a-aee2-b35dc0e22ecf&wid=a56db8a6-0aa8-4ff9-b43c-6ba85ae5dfcc&ds=2) for the challenging puzzle and for all the fun today. TFTC.**Cache Maintenance Status**The cache container was in good shape, the attachment mechanism still seemed strong, and the logbook was clean and dry with plenty of room for future cache finders to sign.

23-Sep-23
I love this series on the Archibald Prize. This one has been on my 'next time I am in the vicinity' pile. Today was a fine spring day, but few muggles were around. Tftc.

29-Jul-23
Really enjoyed solving the puzzle, we must do the rest of the series! Out with Weidobiker today and doing puzzle finds we have both solved. An easy find for me, once Weirdobiker said where she thought it was. It was just easier for me to get from my side. Thanks for a great puzzle and hide.

28-Jul-23
I enjoyed solving this puzzle and am glad I can finally log it. I was on one side of the fence and ConnieandRick on the other and we made the find quite quickly. Hopefully I can solve a few more of this series in the future.

14-Jul-23
Well this puzzle kept us going for a few days as we worked on and off at it.
Today we thought we would head out and try our luck while the weather was a bit cold.
Again our plan worked, although there were a lot of cars around there were no muggles which was great because this one took us quite awhile to locate. We were about to call it and had one more look and bingo this time it was there. After adding our name to the log book we returned every thing as it was.
Again our thanks for the puzzle and the hide, would be much harder on a hot day. Smile

01-Jul-23
This was another enjoyable puzzle in the Archibald series, although I was a little bit later this year in getting around to heading out for the find. It ticked all the boxes, a good puzzle, a lovely location and a good container.
Thanks to gmj3191 for the puzzle and for placing this cache.

God I love this series. We've slowed down our geocaching over the years but whenever I get back online and see there's a new Archibald cache out there, I jump for joy and immediately set about working it out.

I love the portraits where the medium is pastels, as some of them look almost photographic and that points to the skill level of the artist. I'm not so keen on the "my kid could paint that" portraits, but all art is subjective, and I think they still deserve their place in the Archibald competition.

Now either I'm getting better at these or this one was easier, but I worked this one out in record time. So off to one of our favourite areas, it was a stunning morning which made the find even more enjoyable. The find took us a while as it's a high muggle area but Mr A (as usual) found it before I did. The actual cache size was larger than expected, and of course once you see it, it then sticks out like a sore thumb. Thanks very much for this cache, which is going onto our fav point IOU list.

I had been wondering about this solution for a while, then one night I finally cracked it. Great location too. Thanks for the cache.

02-Mar-23
Needing a find for today filling in my empty squares of the 365 grid, I saved this one for this occasion. Quickly running out of caches close to home.

I remember how hard I found the first Archibald I solved. It took me ages. Slowly over the years I really got into each one and look forward to the next one being published.

I agree with the choice of 2022 winner but not so much for the packing room prize. People's choice was a good choice too.

The cache was located easily and in good condition.

Thank you for the cache here gmj3191 These are a fav of mine to work on and solve

25-Feb-23
I am a fan of this series! I thought this year was easier!

Love art Love the Archibald Love the diversity Love the controversy created. As for these puzzles a discerning eye for detail is a must! Another visit to breathe more OZONE at almost sea level from far distant higher altitudes although it’s some time since I’ve been to the beach. Happy to be in the burbs of Marvellous Melbs on a monster multi mission that includes a few LGAs and signing off on some of these puzzles TFTC and the fun!

I enjoy the Archibald’s and love to solve the associated puzzles .. looking forward to the next one. Thanks gmj3191.. this one was a relatively quick find despite the muggle K9s and their hoomans

Found by Omegaman1971

Out and about with Rebel Acts putting some smiles on the map. Early start to the day but definitely worth it to tick off a few more caches.

Cheers for the cache

Found by Rebel Acts in the company of Omegaman1971

Out on another of our Sunday caching adventures, we had an early start chasing a few Side Tracked caches all over the place before heading to the Year of the hide 2022 event, after that we concentrated on some Bayside caches.

This is one of the caches found today.

Thanks gmj3191 for the cache.

13-Oct-22
Before the storms started today I headed over here to look for this one and surprisingly in the rain ( I know, extreme dedication ) I was the only one in the whole car park when I arrived.
A short search and another Archibald prize was claimed.
Thanks gmj3191 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

09-Oct-22
I solved this puzzle when it came out and was determined not to wait too long before making the find. Today was the day. This chap was just waiting for me to sign the log.

Today we found Archibald 2022 on our travels. The highlight of my year is gmj’s Archibald cache! I love that it combines 2 things I really enjoy….I love pouring over the paintings…it’s like an upmarket “Where’s Wally” more fun though as you aren’t looking for the same guy in a crowd every time! I had this finished reasonably quickly when it was published but haven’t had time to come and have a look….I would have been here like a shot 2 years ago because we were so bored! Things have slipped back into usual “where has the year gone” busyness!
Thanks gmj3191 for being part of our geocaching fun.

03-Oct-22
Lyn solved this nice puzzle recently and today after dropping off our grandkids at school/kinder we have time for a few caches. The nearby car park was almost empty and the container was quickly located. A favourite point for the puzzle. Thanks to gmj3191 for the puzzle and cache.

*Found on the 12 Sep 2022 @ 5:11 pm.*
*Cache find # 13243.*

I had solved this one not long after it was published but kept it on hold until there was a day I was needing a find, today was that day.
I arrived at GZ and was able to make a quick find.
I do look forward to the annual Archibald cache as they are puzzles that I can normally solve as well as the interesting research that you need to do.

**Thanks to gmj3191 for placing this cache.**

Most of this year's paintings are not to my taste. However, Kathrin Longhurst's painting of Midori Goto spoke to me.
I saw the passionate, fierce character who had been told she was 'difficult with too much attitude' who reminded me of me in my teen years.

Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, gmj3191

After catching up with Knight_shift earlier in the day on some Mega business, I met up with OzHockeyChick at a nearby supplies business to grab some paint and then do an after work/in the rain cache run.

A newer puzzle in this series that I hadn’t solved yet so I had some homework to complete. I struggled to get the checker to give me the tick, until I finally reread one of the questions and realised I had made a critical error. With the error corrected the checker was happy!

The hide was found reasonably quickly and the log signed.

Thanks gmj3191 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

Thanks gmj3191 for the 2022 Instalment of the Archibald series cache
(I realised today I have a few I haven’t done yet -will look forward to doing so)
My better half decided to watch some new Netflicks Korean series the other night when this one came out. I decided not to watch the subtitles and did the work to find the coordinates- With they in hand it was a pleasant bike ride today to GZ where spot on coordinates revealed a well camouflaged hide - I squeezed it between other finds today
This years Archibald had a few firsts - thanks for the chance to study them a bit closer.

25-Aug-22
Found with the help of Snips and Co. She had sent up the distress signal, along with an accompanying photo of person (muggle? geocacher?) hanging suspiciously near GZ. But I was at work, waiting for someone to relieve my position so that I could aid with the search. By the time I was able to leave and attend GZ, S&Co was waiting patiently with the prize in hand. TNLNSL and returned to position.

Here's my view on this year's Archibald Prize, and art in general: Lots of political and social statements this year. Is this what art is about? Maybe. Just like most pursuits (including geocaching) is many different things for different people, so is art. To me, art is doing its 'job' if it makes you see something in a different light, or if it evokes a strong emotion, or even if it is controversial. It should be memorable, an image that stays with you. If a painting, particularly portraiture is just a good likeness, then what's the point of that? I do find some of the portraits this year quite boring. I'm certainly not saying I could do any better, but isn't art an opportunity for the artist to put something of themselves into their work? On saying this, I really do like the works by Daniel Boyd, Anh Do, Hong Fu, Yoshio Honjo and Robert Malherbe.

Thanks gmj3191 for bringing this year's instalment together, creating a great puzzle and a sneaky hide. Cache on!

25-Aug-22
Thank you gmj3191, I love this series… you may have noticed Smile
In fact I love it so much that I read everything I could about this year’s finalists and studied the portraits long before this cache was posted.
The Archibald series is local to me but of course today, of all days, I’m in Mornington when the notification comes through.
Well, what else to do but read the cache description and get in the car to drive back to bayside. I needed to stop quite a few times as my memory jogged answers for me to check.
I’m finally in bayside when the checker tells me all is OK. I text LetThemEatCache who was working on the puzzle… oh no, she’s at work and can not leave…
I find my way to GZ to find a cyclist not 10 metres away… texting, phoning, texting… OMG and the strangest bit is: he hasn’t looked at me once, he hasn’t checked out my furtive attempts to reveal the hide - and he's been there for 20 minutes.
I’m desperate by this stage and there is still a FTF as far as I can see.
LTEC lets me know she’s just left work… hopefully she’ll be here soon. I take a picture of the cyclist and send it to LTEC – why won't he move away!
Just then he did. I was able to attack GZ from a different angle and the cache was in hand.
Not going to lie… a little green eyed monster was briefly spotted as I opened the cache and saw we were not FTF – well done PrezDough and CeeJayDenno… it would have been great to be a little earlier and meet you there Smile

I digress - back to the Archibald. This year my favourite is Laura Jones: Brooke and Jimmy. This portrait really moves me in many ways – the dichotomy is amazing.
There are many others that I love too, I could spout on forever… what’s your favourite?

Joint [FTF] with PrezDough @ 4:44pm.
I was sitting around waiting for PrezDough to finish an appointment and I checked my emails. A few new listings were published, but most were too far away to consider at this time of the day.
I see a listing was published nearby and sure enough it’s the next instalment of the Archibald series.

So I started chipping away at the questions and the images to hunt down the clues whilst waiting for an appointment to evaporate.
Soon enough I had enough clues and PrezDough is finally out from the appointment. I tell him, one more clue and we have all we need… I hope…!
Sure enough, we managed to get the elusive clue and then it was mathematics time.
First time in the Solution Checker… awesome. Now I’m like, let’s go…!

I swear the traffic is just there to tease me as we stop at every light, rail crossing, pedestrian crossing etc…
Soon enough, pull up to GZ and I’m thinking it’s around here… PrezDough spots it and I help him extract the log.
Our monikers are there first and we are stoked.

Sent the CO a message and he’s happy it’s found quickly.
PrezDough grabbed the path tags, however there is something else there for the next finder/s.
We initially hung around hoping to see who’s next, but had another pressing engagement, so we left.

Many thanks to the CO for continuing on the series this year.
Fantastic puzzle and cache. FP added also.
I visited 3 TB.

Joint {FTF} Found with CJDenno. I went to an appointment and CJDenno waited for me. I came out of the appointment and CJDenno said “let’s go, there is a FTF not very far away”. While i was in the appointment, CJDenno solved the majority of the puzzle and still had one question to get the final coordinates. I quickly solved the last question by looking in a website with the Archibald information. We went to GZ as fast as we could so we could get an FTF. I quickly spotted it and we got the container and we were soon ecstatic to find an empty log. Me and CJDenno each took a path tag and we logged our names.

I visited 4 TB
