Short Trip Away Day #3 [25/11] of 3Day three of my holidays (and day #3 of 3 for my trip away) saw me leaving the motel early to start the day. I started by heading over to Fyshwick for a couple of caches over there. For nice easy-ish ones. Three in the Fyshwick Forrest and one over in the park next to Maryborough St. After finding those ones, I headed over to Belconnen to find a couple of others and then onto the Mall for lunch. While at the Mall, I also did a game of 10 pin bowling because why not? I got a score of 120. Big Grin Once I finished up in the Mall, I started making my way home. I found the next lot of power trail caches along Dog Trap Rd. I have decided on doing these caches section by section given, I drive past/through here so much. From there, I headed home while finding one more in Binalong before getting home. It was a great weekend away and I quite enjoyed catching up with everyone. TB visit. Some caches were signed as JM. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. Big Grin TFTCs! Big Grin

Quick find. Trying to get my letterbox count up over 25 in NSW. Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.

I found this cache as I was heading back home to Adelaide after the Capital Geobash Mega event over Easter.I was travelling solo again and took somewhat of a zig-zag route, following caches of interest. My main focus was on the non-Traditional cache types, although I did find a few others opportunistically. After a bit of rain the first day after leaving Canberra, its been great weather the rest of the time. The cache and contents were found in good condition. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the cache.

Another massive day with the WA Crew signing WAC. If we arent up trees, we are wading through water or hiking mountains. We are grateful for locals who have shared their TOTT with us. Since we all flew to get to Canberra, it wasnt possible to bring the tools necessary for the high terrain caches. For some of the day we cached with an awesome group signing DG as deaf group; truly a generous and welcoming group. Thanks for your contribution in hiding this cache to make our experience as amazing as its been so far. Please forgive us if the dates are incorrect; we are catching up online logging whenever we find

What a huge day was planned for today. I hooked up with Bluewattle to drive to Yass and around the areas to collect letterboxes and challenge caches. This was just before we were to meet up with Ardom to continue our caching travels for the day.First off was the letterboxes of the area (sausages) and a drive around a farm property collecting a few more which was super fun. It was then back on the road to our meeting point for a tree climb and meet up. the tree climb was a tuff one for me. We then worked out where we were going and how we would get all these in a day. It was an awesome day and I was super surprised at how fast we were going along. I guess it helps when the caches are there and in good condition. It was a super day and the CO's should be super happy with their caches in this area. Thanks for the fun we had today. All logs were signed and caches replaced as found.

Geoturtle37 and I are taking a few days to get to the Capital GeoBash. We decided to keep off the main roads where possible but there are so many caches in and around Canberra, that we didn't know where to start. We were in this general area so decided to pick up some sausages on our way through. Shame but I doubt we will have time to do them all. Maybe if we return this way, we could find some more. This would be a little more interesting if there was some serious rain.Apologies for the generic logs but we are grateful for the time and effort that has gone into placing all these caches. Thank you.

Saturday and a free day in Canberra for Taurus Six and I . For the last couple of days I had been caching on my own whilst Taurus Six was at a work conference. After a lovely breakfast catch up with friends at the Arboretum , we had a good few hours to go off for geocaching before catching up with other friends later in the day for late afternoon drinks and dinner. We decided on a slightly different plan of action noticing that there were several letter box caches and challenge cache on the back roads outside Murrumbateman and Yass . Of course before setting off in that direction we had to collect the Adventure Labs at the Arboretum which took us to some great look outs. We love the way the Arboretum has grown and matured since we lived in Canberra it really is going to become a beacon for the future. It was a beautiful Canberra early autumn day a little bit cool first thing but by mid morning it was already warming up to be a beautiful day.The back roads between Canberra , Murrumbateman and Yass were nice and peaceful, everything very dry and the grass quite long on parts we were a little conscious of snakes , however the only creature we did see was a beautiful echidna that did not appear to fearful of our closeness. We are also quite surprised at the growth of both Murrumbateman and Yass not having seen them for a few years wow housing is going up everywhere. All in all for the day we collected 12 Letterboxes, 12 challenge caches , 16 Adventure Labs and just two dnfs . Thanks for the caches Darksidedan and providing a good excuse for us to revisit these parts.

Reperio 14:48This was Day 3 of our camping getaway to Yass to go in search for some of the local geocaches, and things got off to a very early start being woken up by some extra enthusiastic 4WDers, so we decided to leave where we were and resume where we left off yesterday. With approximately 150 caches found today, we had an awesome day with only about 10 DNFs, and managed to either replace broken containers or do some log maintenance along the way. Decided to go on a bit of a cache hunt today with ilook4geo even though it promised to be a hot day. We found a good selection with some being very easy to find and some taking more time. This was a nice quick and easy one and the log soon had two more names on the list. Thanks go to DARKSIDEDAN for this cache placement.

Today fitzy_1965 & I decided to head into Canberra to celebrate the commencement of CITO season.

After the first CITO we did a bit of caching inbetween with albida33 & FurfacesLL before separating and caching on our own.

After the second CITO and another targeted cache, we headed home via the long way. This road is currently terrible thanks to all the rain we have had but thankfully an easy find.

29,968. Found with minniek during a fun day's roam around Canberra while attending two CITOs.

It's worth the drive in to Canberra for a CITO. It's especially worth the drive in for two CITOs ! With that in mind in we came to attend them plus grab a number of other specific caches to round off the day. Once the second CITO was over, we started to head home - the scenic route. Along this familiar road we were soon at our target cache. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed home.

Thanks DSD !! Liver - Bleuch...

Cache 9856 on 4 Mar 2023.

I am hoping to make the Rutherglen mega event cache number 10,000, so I have a fair few to get between now and then, 181 to be exact. So today SpecimenX and I headed out to Yass again to get some numbers. Happily, Search4 joined us while having some coffee and pastry at Clementine Bakery so we ended up with a mini posse of 3, signing ourselves as A.S.S. for the later caches, which are the initials of our caching names, not us being rude! Okay, maybe a little bit Wink I managed to score 44 for the day before calling it quits. Still so many to find near Yass, I remember a distant past when I had found all the caches in Yass. Thanks to SpecimenX and Search4 for excellent company and cache finding!

Cache found easily and in line with any hints provided.

Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the cache and the fun!

04-Mar-23
Teamed up with AngelG27 to hit some more caches around Yass to help get some numbers up Big Grin After some caching and a cafe stop, we were joined by Seach4 to grab some more and those were signed as A.S.S to save time/space lol Big GrinBig Grin

Out and about with FFLL#1 and ALL7 to pick up some countryside caches. Was nice weather today and we managed to get our names in all the caches we attempted. There were a couple we didnt attempt due to their placements but thats all good. Logs signed as FAR (FurfacesLL, ALL7 and Rapidlywild) for those which we all needed, otherwise it was individual names.

No issues with this one, signed and replaced as found.

Thanks for the cache placement DARKSIDEDAN and thanks for a nice day out FFLL and ALL7.

21-Jan-23
Last minute change of plans meant Saturday was now free. So plans were made with ALL7 and Rapidlywild to go and collect a few caches that had popped up on the map. Actually there are heaps to do but getting the time to do them is rare.
Weather was ideal for caching which made for a pleasant day out in the countryside.
All caches we attempted we found including a couple we could see but valued life a little more to attempt. So no DNF's for us today which was nice.

Thanks for the never ending hides DARKSIDEDAN and thanks for the fun and laughs ALL7 and Rapidlywild

The weather is a lovely cool on the country highland...

Awesome enjoyed catching heaps of caches and lovely chats and laughing like comics communicate a lot... Via stop for lunch at Subway...

Thank you Rapidlywild offer us drive all the way...

Signed the log with FFLL and Rapidlywild (FAR) as good dry.. TFTC

Out on a sunny day for a few caches, looks like summer has turned up finally with the countryside finally brown and an abundance of grass seeds, dust and flies... got to love summer!

Great to get out though and head out along the Yass area roads once again! Thanks for the cache.

All logs found without too much fuss, all but one in good condition and even that one was still writable.

Out on a lazy weekend drive around the back roads of Yass...again.

Super friendly locals who honk loudly as they drive passed my safely-as-possible parked car...some even did a U-turn so they could do it from the opposite direction. Good times!

Skipped nearly all the trads, focused on the challenges and the used-to-be rare types that are everywhere up here.

It was 7:30pm the night before New Years Eve. Chatting to injuryman I mentioned how I was 34 cache finds short of my biggest year ever. I didn't have much motivation to beat this statistic and get across the line, but thankfully injuryman did! He said "Let's go night caching, I'll be at your house in 30 minutes".

So, that's what we did! I quickly searched for the closest & easiest 30+ caches to grab, but of course there weren't many as I have done most of them! We ended up starting in Sutton, grabbing the string of caches I had vowed never to find because of where they were placed, but thankfully doing them late at night before the night that everyone else stays up late was perfect. The very busy road was quiet for once, and we only saw about 6 cars go past, it was nerve wrecking every time they did though, and almost all of them stopped to check why we were half parked on the road with our hazards, but I'm glad to not have to look at those unfound caches on my map again after driving past them usually at least once a week!

We then did the full length of "Yass River Road". Here we didn't see a single car for several hours! Lots of potholes and a few other little things to navigate through / around, but not too bad. The grass was OVER head high the whole time though, and we clocked up a few DNF's.

Once we had popped out the other side to Murrumbateman, we headed to Dog Trap Road just for a few more caches to get the number we were looking for. A string of DSD Letterbox caches just outside town did the trick here, with a couple trads and even a Challenge thrown in! These caches were excellent, and our favourite of the night. Quiet roads, larger sized containers, well placed. Appreciate that!

Our last cache find was at 1am on the 31st. So yes, our finds for tonight were spread over two dates (30th / 31st)! Eventually got home and in bed by 2am after that! Phew...!

Thanks injuryman for giving me company to surpass my "Best caching year" and thanks to InnocentApple, ALL7 and DSD for hiding park and grabs, which do come in handy sometimes even if they aren't my favourite thing to do anymore! We also got one Sui cache, and a Sui hide that was disguised as a DSD cache which had us confused for ages as we were looking for a DSD hide instead, so thanks to him too

I joined up with up Smitten Granny for a morning caching to Murrumbateman and beyond onto Dog trap road for as many of the new caches as we could to get to a nice round twenty five caches. Whilst it did not rain on us today, it was very wet underfoot every where and there was road fixing getting under way on Dog Trap road near the Murrumbateman junction. The walk around the stock reserve should have been done in gum boots, but we made it without having to find a canoe.

Thanks for the cache DARKSIDEDAN

This series was our main target for today - the letterboxes! I was out with Albida33 who had researched and plotted our route. They were relatively easily found though not always without getting our feet very wet as we tramped through extremely long grass or very soggy marshy areas.
All logs were signed. TFTC DSD
