Thanks to everyone that has done and logged this cache, we've enjoyed reading all the logs. We are glad it has brought finders both joy and frustration in varying measures.Unfortunately we need to archive this as the local kids have been damaging all of them in the series, so time to retire them as they get broken as currently both of us are unable to maintain them. This one is still in place atm but a key component is missing.

18-Jul-24
I am honestly so stuck. Tried and looked everywhere and still cant even manage to open the cache. Ill try again next time

14-Jul-24
Awesome puzzle thanks for the find!

06-Jul-24
It's fair to say I struggled at every point of this field puzzle, requiring a bit of head scratching at each stage before thankfully making a breakthrough. Eventually I got there though and was happy to be adding my name to the log. Great fun as I worked my way through each stage, even the ones I didn't need to. Thanks for a fantastic addition to the game, certainly one of my favourites.

Cache is in nature, ants are part of nature, we can't kill them Smile . If you don't like ants , give this cache a miss.

01-Jun-24
Excellent hide, but ants have made it their home

01-Jun-24
This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

19-May-24
Way overthought the hint, but got there in the end. TFTC!

06-May-24
Teaching a friend how to geocache, brought her here. Lots of ants in cache

14-Apr-24
This was my second attempt at finding this one. It was nice to finally sign my name in the logbook. Ive really enjoyed this entire series. They are all fantastic. Thank you plowfive for placing and maintaining WEGT #4 - Looking for worms for us to find today.

14-Apr-24
Found quite a while ago, thought I'd logged this as a find. So now I am logging it as a find !! .. Thanks for this AMAZINGLY AWESOME series !! SL, TFTC & added some swag

01-Apr-24
That was a fun one

20-Mar-24
Back for a walk along this familiar path to collect the last of the WEGT caches. I've been waiting a while to get this one but I needed a bit of fresh air and a walk today so this was just what I needed. Cache was quickly found, then slowly opened and it seemed like several hours later I was finally signing the log....just joking but I was a bit stumped for a while. Unfortunately it appears the the worms may well have been eaten by a fresh batch of ants! Not a heavy infestation yet but they know the combination so may well move the whole family in! A fun cache to find and solve. Thanks for replacing it.I would like to wish Mrs Plowfive all the best at a difficult time.

09-Mar-24
Found at 18:11I figured out how to open it pretty quickly but finding the log took a little longer. Thanks plowfive for the cache

25-Feb-24
This cache was vandalized. We have replaced it with it's stunt double (spare) and it has the correct contents to give the proper experience

25-Feb-24
Maintenance done (cache replaced). Ready to be found!

23-Feb-24
We found this cache today on our Whittlesea Wander. We came up to this series today and although this cache was offline, we were passing and thought that we would check here anyway. As per #2, the components of this one were all still there, so we added a log sheet inside the cache. Thanks from D & HA B-A

20-Aug-23
Disabling this as it has been reported vandalized.

Sadly we will likely be archiving this series soon as Mrs Plowfive (the cache builder) is unfortunately currently undergoing treatment for a serious illness and won't be able to repair these any time soon.

11-Aug-23
Mrs Plowfive (cache maker) is unfortunately in hospital and will be in and out of hospital for the rest of the year. Luckily we have a replacement cache but given our current circumstances it is challenging for me (Mr Plowfive) to get out there. Will attempt to get there by end of August. If I can't then unfortunately I will have to archive this and potentially the rest of the series as they need maintenance.

09-Aug-23
Um, cache is disabled. Oops! It seems our GPS doesn't highlight this fact so we were oblivious to it being so. Anyway that explains why we didn't struggle to gain access to the log. There's been one or two other similarly disabled caches that we have inadvertently found in the past and I suppose that's because often we don't read logs prior to embarking on a trip.
Oh well, we found it, signed the log so I guess that's a "Found it" in my book.
TFTC

09-Aug-23
Like our caching mates for the day we didn't realise that this was disabled but we still managed to sign the log book.

09-Aug-23
A day out with our caching friends to Yan Yean Reservoir, the Whittlesea area and finishing up at Mason Falls. After morning tea and finding a couple of caches at the Reservoir we headed over here to complete the gadget caches. This was the next cache we completed in the series. Despite the cache being disabled it still appeared on our GPS so we did sign the log that was inside. TFTC TNLN

I was doing some work on caches of my own and headed out here to take a look at the cache to see if there was anything I could do to help reset it.

I found the log on the ground outside and replaced it inside the now bare cache. Having spoken to some others I have a little idea of how it once was and was hoping to help out some bits together to keep it going while the CO is unwell, however it wouldn’t be the standard this amazing CO has held in the past.

It is not a priority, however if there is anything I can do to assist in maintaining these caches let me know.

Thanks plowfive for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

We saw that this one is out of action Sad so decided to leave it until it is in proper working order (& no ants) Smile

We will probably return with friends that haven't done these gadget caches, as they are so good we'd love to do them again (or at least see others attempt their trickiness).

Thanks plowfive for all the effort on these caches, hope all is well soon.

There’s a log book in there so we signed it ! Found by iamapom at 12:50 on 9/7/2023. Thanks to plowfive for the Traditional. This is Iamapom’s find number 2711. Greetings from Melbourne Australia.

Logging with CO permission
Last year at the Whittlesea MEGA we completed caches 6, 7 and 8 in this series. We really enjoyed them and wanted to come back to enjoy the rest.
Our kids' cousins (EwanF) had new bikes so we decided to test them out on this trail. We started about 1.3km south of this cache to get a bit of an extra ride in.
As it had been misting all day, the track was soaked and muddy and not that easy for riding, but it was fun all the same.
Our first for the way back, and although it was disabled, the CO gave us permission to check it out and sign the log. There was enough to see, for us to work out what this cache was all about, although obviously we couldn't get the full experience. It's a great construction and would be great to do properly when it's up and running again.
Once again, I'm disappointed that, with all the time and effort you have obviously put into those caches, that some people have not been careful with it and taken the time to put it back together properly.
Thanks for all the hard work that must have gone into the construction here. We'll be back.

Disabling due to reports it has been emptied of contents.

It may be a quite while until we can get to this due to some health issues unfortunately.

24-May-23
All is not as it should be here.
We found a replacement log inside the cache. A short search of the surrounding area also revealed the original log book nearby, in multiple pieces.
We gathered everything up and placed it back in the cache, the best we could.
The replacement log also remains for now, but a visit will be required.
It's sad that not everyone appreciates your efforts plowfive.

Traveling_Jack braved our public transport system and joined me on a short tour of caches around Fawkner Cemetery before n0w0rries arrived to take us north for some shenanigans.

So after an impromptu visit to the state's first cache, our first treated us to coffee and goodies at a cafe in Whittlesea, on our way to our target for the day: the gadget caches just south of Yan Yean Reservoir.

And here we are, at last.

Sadly, this one was not as it should be... though we managed to find the actual log not far away.

Thanks, plowfive.

Oh dear, found this cache opened and nothing inside. In the surrounding area we found some damp pages of a novel. Don’t know if they were part of the contents of this cache and placed it in the box. Just happened to have a spare log book so signed it and placed it inside. This cache needs attention for future cachers. The good news is that the ants mentioned in previous logs seem to have disappeared. TFTC

Full log to follow
Greetings from France

12-May-23
No cache inside - I wonder if the ants have carried it away!

25-Apr-23
This cache should have a danger rating I swear. Got it open with tott help, then had to navigate the wildlife to get there. Bring gloves! Tftc

25-Apr-23
OMG the Ants! Added a whole new dimension to this cache. We persevered and signed the log. Fav point added for the drama TFTC

23-Apr-23
Very clever hide, almost had us stumped but open our eyes and solved it! Chose not to sign the log as the there is a massive ant nest inside, beware!

20-Apr-23
I think I was on a false sense of security after the last cache but this cache certainly had my number. Thanks again for the entertainment.

15-Apr-23
Found the cache, but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get the LB OUT !! VERY FRZZLED !!

14-Apr-23
This one stumped me.

13-Apr-23
Great hide. My pants were full of… those unexpected residenants made the hide more of a challenge.

13-Apr-23
It was decided that I would meet memorychip at the Mernda Bunnings and we would attempt to work our way through the caches that have been placed out this way.

This is a great cache:) Thanks for placing this for others to enjoy. Full of ants and made need cleaning out but worthy of a FP point fosho!!

25-Mar-23
I examined the container closely before trying out any ideas on how to get it open. I was imagining all kinds of complicated possibilities, but the solution was simplicity itself. Finding where to sign my name was an added adventure. Tftc and a fav point from me.

Beautiful day for a walk hubby decided to park a kilometre away but we’ll worth the journey, even saw some baby moo’s
Fun cache and have finally finished the puzzles along this track.

This was one of the caches we did in a afternoon.
We probably cycled about 8 km and did all the gadget caches and the yyrs. I like the theme. Tftc

TwoEms weren’t particularly thrilled about looking for worms. They are wriggly squiggly squirmy things with freakish heads that look like tails, and tails that look like heads. They contort and twist in creepy ways that should have them picked straight out of the dirt and dropped into a circus, but—we must confess—we are more than happy to never touch these weird creatures and are content leaving them quite alone in our garden bed.

So here we are—begrudgingly looking for worms. We looked and looked with that horrible feeling that we might find ourselves touching a hideously squishy one. We looked and looked for worms until we started to act and think like one—if you want to catch a worm, think like a worm—and it was then that we managed to find a way to worm this box open.

Low and behold, what do you think we found? The most delectable feast to cast our eyes on—Worms! We’re worms! We love these worms! Oh how we changed our minds. Not even a red herring could stop us from turning ourselves into worms and squiggling our name with delight. Thank you for the cache—we thoroughly enjoyed looking for worms.

I needed a few geocaches tody and also had to get back to finish this series and so, what could be better that a heap of gadget caches Smile
An excellent series and glad I finally got here!
Wow, this one had me going, made an additional trip back to the car for some extra tools, tried this, tried that, and then a little magic happened Smile
How simple was that!

The Whittlesea Mega has been on and off for a long time due to that rotten COVID-19. The sad part is that due to MND I really think this could be my last Mega but I am in the area for a week thanks to my two great SA friends who travelled from SA visiting Ballarat for a couple of days and then moved down to Geelong only to pick me up and we are staying in Craigieburn for a week and then they are taking me back to Geelong. It’s generosity like that Geocaching folk are renowned for, plus all the help that I have received in the past few days which I will be forever grateful.
This guy was found, signed last November 2022 with my two SA friends who were looking after the ageing Bushfire.
Thanks for placing and looking after this cache. I am slowly getting a few more of these caches logged but for how long I really don't know depends on the body.
The good news is that my MND is progressing a little slower than it could so I am working on going to the Rutherglen Mega. Time will tell, thanks to plowfive for placing these caches. F.P. added.

11-Mar-23
It was a nice afternoon for caching so I headed over to Yan Yean find a few caches... and was immediately attracted to this collection due to the high number of Favourite Points it has collected.

With #5 missing action (temporarily I hope), I had initially thought about driving to the other end and starting again from there... but as it was such a nice afternoon, I just kept on walking. When I got here, I didn't find any *worms*... but a I did find hundreds and hundreds of small black ants in residence. They were all over everything... and that didn't take long to include my hands and arms! Eventually I won the battle and had the log signed and returned... leaving the ants in a frenzy for the next cacher who, although I didn't know it at the time, wasn't all that far behind me.

Thanks **plowfive** for another brilliant cache...

Great little adventure, although the ants have decided to make this their new home.

Took waaay longer than necessary to work out what was needed, but eventually made the find. Tftc

We tried this the other day and we tried to be a bit too clever with red herrings, logs and wrong trees. Things turned out to be simpler than expected! Thanks to the CO for giving us some tips. We came back today and we were able to turn our frown into a smile! TFTC!

11-Feb-23
Our first DNF! We read through the hints and a lot of previous posts but couldn't find the log. We'd love some more hints about the proximity of the log to the cache. We'll have to come back and tackle this another day!

05-Feb-23
Firstly, let us apologise for the generic logs as these caches were all great. It is such a shame that some serious damage has been inflicted as we weren't able to fully enjoy the experience. We would like to write a little on each and every one but don't want to give anything away other than to say that they are well worth the visit. None of them were hard to find, although access wasn't always as easy. Thank you for a fabulous series and giving us a great afternoon out. A favourite point for sure.

05-Feb-23
We started this series from the wrong end but it made absolutely no difference at all. They are all of a great size, easy to handle but not so easy to gain entry. It was such a shame that some person/people has had the need to do damage to somebody's property. I won't give anything away but to all those that said I need to go and enjoy these caches, thank you. To those that haven't yet done them, make sure you do. Thank you for the fun and smiles whilst doing this trip.

05-Feb-23
A nice day was forecast so Geoturtle37 and I headed back up to Whittlesea to sign off on the Challenge series.

We then turned our attention to these much talked about gadget caches, and they didn’t disappoint. A fav point for each heading your way.

Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, plowfive

With a bit of patience and a methodical approach, catnap777 and I managed to worm our way into each and every logbook in this very clever series. Cool

This is where I ran out of fav points giving it my very last one. [B)]
I clearly didn't have enough fav points in the bank to do them all justice. Surprised
Fortunately, my partner does, so please accept the love and fav for the rest of these caches from catnap777 as on behalf of us both. Red Face

Cache found and log signed with dalerious Razz.

Firstly, I would like to say that dalerious and I commend you on the finest gadget caches we have seen thus far, and I will be giving each and every one a favourite point on behalf of us both Cool.

A weekend away to Whittlesea, then onto Melbourne for two events on the Sunday was on the agenda.
We were looking forward to getting out and about as usual, and like always had quite an extensive list to keep us busy Cool.

Things didn't quite go to plan to start with, and in hindsight, we are sort of glad for the change to plan B, as the weather turned wet and cold, and it was a much more enjoyable day finding and signing an awesome series of caches as these were.

Thank you plowfive for the absolute pleasure of working through this series. Please, please bring out more!

27-Jan-23
By far one of the coolest caches I've ever found! TFTC

26-Jan-23
We had a good giggle when we opened this cache – love me a good read. Geopartner started searching and I started searching and realised he wasn’t looking correctly and so was re-doing his pile of searching. Then I mentioned another cache that I’d done with a similar theme and he said “well in that case it is there” and we soon had it. An excellent excellent premise – love it!

26-Jan-23
This is my favourite cache so far. It took us a bit to finally get to the log but was lots of fun as we figured it out

15-Jan-23
So many woohoos without a result! But a result was attained in the end. Very funny!

My first gadget cache. Had to keep telling myself ‘no force required’, ‘no force required’, ‘NO FORCE REQUIRED’. Eventually found the correct technique. Tftc

07-Jan-23
Decided to spend an afternoon doing some light puzzle solving. This one stumped us for a small amount of time as we barked up the wrong tree. Soon we were able to squeeze our name amongst the numerous others.

05-Jan-23
Found with PapaGrouch on a return trip to Whittlesea now that it has dried off a bit. This was our last gadget for the day and the most challenging. It took a while to access, then even longer to find the log. Very clever cache that gets a well deserved favourite point. TFTC

After finding a certain cache on the other side of town I had some maintenance business to attend in Woodlands then in Whittlesea and this WEGT trail has been on my radar for awhile so I was able to have another go at it.
I have been laid up with a bung knee so not much walking could be done lately to do this series.
So now that I am a bit more mobile so with a bit of walking then relocating the Geowagon a couple of times I was able to finish this lot off.
Located the cache and now what to do.
Hmm that’s all I can say.
I soon found my way in but no that’s not the right one.
Looked here then looked there and eventually I was able to add my name to the very full logbook.

A fav goes out to you for a great series that kept me entertained.

Thanks plowfive TFTC.

What a way to welcome in the new year! With my day bringing myself out to Doreen, I thought to myself why not go out and grab some of this series before both:
A: The temperature goes up too much;
B: Before I go and pick up some tournament prizing I won that had arrived from the US

So with about an hours worth of time up my sleeve I made my way through the masterful series.

Thanks for the cache and the lovely morning walk.

On my way home from a work event in Melbourne I decided to detour through the Whittlesea area as I was unable to attend the recent Mega. Only had a couple hours so choose this gadget cache trail, was able to complete them all very enjoyable!

Got into this one no problems, however took a little while to locate the logbook.

I was back in Whittlesea again today soon after the MEGA, on a bus driving job.
Parking the bus, I headed out on the bike to search out some caches.
With time ticking away, I couldn't resist just one more of this brilliant series before heading back to the bus.
I had a suspicion about what would be required here, and sure enough soon had the log in hand. It is very full though, I think I signed in the last space.
Another well thought out concept and construction.
TFTC, well done plowfive. I can't wait to get back out here to finish the series

30-Nov-22
With geo-wife we picked this one up, a great day for caching, and a great puzzle cache,
didn't take to long once we worked to the red herrings, and leaning across the moat.
cache and construction great.
Log now full.

TFTC plowfive. and the great series

29-Nov-22
With lovely weather at last, we had a full day caching with pinnacle333 in the Whittlesea area.
What a wonderful series of gadget caches. If I had enough favourite points I would give them all one for the craftsmanship and fun.
We found the log first, then the decoy Thanks plowfive.

29-Nov-22
Took echidna44 and us longer to get the decoys than it did to find the actual log. 'is it actually that?' spent most of our time on the decoy

28-Nov-22
Found it! Very cheeky this one. I fell for the decoys but eventually found the log and signed it! Putting things back was also a bit annoying.. but funny! Thanks!

Thanks for the gadget cache plowfive.
Yeah, you got us on this one. We went off in all kind of directions. In the end, RLD4963 worked out how to access the cache.
Really enjoyed this series, even though at the time we visited we had to navigate around some fairly significant puzzles. There was some really good in the area of this cache - the kind of mud that sucks your gumboots off! But totally worth it. This one gets a favourite from me.

Visiting the Whittlesea Mega event with RLD4963 from Hobart. It was another day of dodging the rain showers - but sometimes we just couldn't - so glad we brought our gumboots over from Tassie.

On our way to the mega and went via SA just so we could finish off the OYB series, We did these with TT and marked our territory with a stamp that said Team Tassie, most of the caches we found in good order and those couple that weren't we fixed up as best we could with what we had to hand.
All found now well till some more come out anyway!

Another year, another Victorian Mega, so where do we fly into, Adelaide like you do, after a few days in the city we ventured out into the wilds of SA before heading Northeast towards the border (You remember the name of the town, don't you?) before crossing over we teamed up with Tassie Trekkers and we all finished off the OYB series.
Our attempts at a few caches as we moved South that were near rivers were as half expected we were thwarted by floods so we didn't get to those but added the odd on in here and there.

At long last we arrived in Whittlesea for the Mega late in the evening of Friday 11th and after a quick event headed to our accommodation for the next few days. While in the area we explored the area finding caches all over the place and we even got to meet up with our Victorian ex Tassie cacher 1Toolman who traveled up from down South to join us for the day

Thanks for the cache.

Our last mega day as we head home this afternoon, This morning we teamed up with Tassie Trekkers, Mrs Whitewebbs and icybeetas to find the WEGT caches. What a fantastic set of caches. I certainly enjoyed them all!
Thanks plowfive (great to catch up with you Ken), another fav point

It’s become a tradition to fly to a Mega via somewhere else so Stainless steel rat, budgietas and I flew from Hobart to Adelaide a week before the big event and, after a few days around the city, worked our way up along the Murray (where we could due to flooding) via Waikerie, Mildura, Swan Reach and Echuca before heading down through Shepparton to Whittlesea where we caught up, and cached with, a few other teams including Tassie Trekkers, Whitewebbs, 1toolman and icybeetas.

We always love a challenge of working on gadget caches so before leaving Whittlesea today we just had to complete the WEGT series.
Giving a favourite point for each and everyone for the clever effort put into the construction of these fantastic caches giving us a great experience along this trail.
This one was a little trickier ?? ended with a bunch of other teams here by the time we solved it.
Thanks plowfive for the fun placement.

Here at the mega at Whittlesea we cache around the area as "Team Tassie" that included gooseandegg, stainless-steel-rat, Budgietas and whitewebbs.

We had a great tour around the country side finding pre solved caches and others along the way.

An excellent series og gadget caches, enjoyed the variety of hides and adding to our favourites.

Thanks to all the cache owners whose caches we found today.

Today was day 3 around the Whittlesea area, and after the Escape Room, the crew (Goosenegg, Stainless Steel Rat, Tassie Trekkers and Whitewebbs) targetted the "Gadget caches" and other caches in the area, followed by a drive to the airport to make our ways home

Thank you for the cache.

All caches stamped with "Team Tassie"

November 2022 was planned as a trip to the Mega in Melbourne, so we flew from Hobart to Adelaide to find quite a few caches that we had missed last time. Some great caches were found, but the planned boat trip was canceled due to the weather. No matter the showers we found quite a few caches on the trip (Around 600) including a number with high Terrian values.

The drive-through down the Murray river on the NSW / Victoria border showed the impacts of the current floods. A number of caches planned were canceled due to the flooding. Unfortunately, many of these caches will have been lost to the flood. The Mega, as per the whole week, was on and off a wet time, even so a number of caches were still found with Goosenegg, Stainless Steel Rat, Whitewebbs and Tassie Trekkers

I did this trail with others from Tasmania wishing we were back home as it was warmer there. A great challenging cache, Thank you plowfive for the effort you have put in the design and manufacture for our enjoyment. I am also finding the snippets of Whittlesea information interesting. Worthy of a favourite point.

Find #6759

Great to be picking up some of the many puzzles and multis solved over many months and trips, as well as collecting some letterboxes and trads and whatever else was in our path.

This series is awesome. Favourite points all round. Many are the worse for wear from all of the flooding and wet weather events...

Thanks so much plowfive for getting us out and about, and for the adventure highlights around Whittlesea.

Mrs W today joined "Team Tassie" consisting of stainless-steel-rat, gooseandegg, Budgietas and Tassie Trekkers finding caches on the way back to the airport as 3 of 4 teams headed home after attending the Whittlesea Mega. It was a fun day to be out with great friends finding great caches and this series was one of them. They were fun to solve in the field and well crafted. Deserves a favourite. TFTC

Trying to catch up with some late logs, prior to the Mega, so some travel bugs can get dropped off. Sorry for the generic log.

Found this hide while staying around the area.

Thanks plowfive for placing this cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy finding it.

Sorry for such a late log! I had an amazing time traveling to Melbourne, then Whittlesea to attend the great Mega-Event and find so many wonderful caches, and meet so many wonderful cachers! I am so grateful for such kind hospitality of the hosts, volunteers, and community members who made the Mega-Event weekend very special - despite the weather. Thanks for this trail of gadget caches - they were super fun and creative, despite the uncontrollable swamp around GZ! Smile Thank you!
