Short Trip Away Day #3 [25/11] of 3Day three of my holidays (and day #3 of 3 for my trip away) saw me leaving the motel early to start the day. I started by heading over to Fyshwick for a couple of caches over there. For nice easy-ish ones. Three in the Fyshwick Forrest and one over in the park next to Maryborough St. After finding those ones, I headed over to Belconnen to find a couple of others and then onto the Mall for lunch. While at the Mall, I also did a game of 10 pin bowling because why not? I got a score of 120. Once I finished up in the Mall, I started making my way home. I found the next lot of power trail caches along Dog Trap Rd. I have decided on doing these caches section by section given, I drive past/through here so much. From there, I headed home while finding one more in Binalong before getting home. It was a great weekend away and I quite enjoyed catching up with everyone. TB visit. Some caches were signed as JM. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTCs!
Today was the day I was aiming to achieve three things 1000 caches in 2024, 7000 caches all up and 200 caches in a day (my previous record was 121). Easily achieved all three in 13 hours between 06:00 and 19:00. Was a glorious spring day on the back roads around Yass. Most logs signed TE5 30/9 to save time. Not a fan of blood sausages. Round back for this one - I then turned the car around gif the last few.TFTC DARKSIDEDAN
Found it: 30/03/2024Sorry for falling behind with logs. Ive been busy catching up with family and also been unwell. I havent completed logs from events - QOBM, Leap Day and Canberra Mega, so am catching up now. Thank you for the cache and hunt.
Sir_spectre and I are making our way home from our ACT, NSW and Victoria holiday. Unfortunately, due to family circumstances we had to cancel our Mega adventure, so this trip was to make up for it.Many caches found and any that needed some love got it.Thanks
Quick find. Trying to get my letterbox count up over 25 in NSW. Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Staying a week or so in Yass, today we headed out late morning. Fantastic warm weather today, woo hoo! Headed south today looking for caches as we head towards a major milestone.TFTC DARKSIDEDAN
Found on a cool Autumn cloudy day. In the area after the Mega and a few more caches of course. Not many muggles around and another good find, thankfully. . Thanks for the cache DARKSIDEDAN, ***Roostaman***
Heading north today into the country to grab stuff to satisfy some personal challenges. This road is a bumpy horror & our GPS doesnt know how to find the Dog Track (so aptly named) a nice find here.
12:49The final day of this Capital GeoBash trip.I need to be home tonight, as I'm expected at breakfast and a CITO I've organised for tomorrow morning. But that doesn't mean I can't take a bit of a scenic route... there are a couple of Challenge caches on Dog Trap Road. And a string of sausages.Another tasty morsel. Thanks, DARKSIDEDAN.#8736
I found this cache as I was heading back home to Adelaide after the Capital Geobash Mega event over Easter.I was travelling solo again and took somewhat of a zig-zag route, following caches of interest. My main focus was on the non-Traditional cache types, although I did find a few others opportunistically. After a bit of rain the first day after leaving Canberra, its been great weather the rest of the time. The cache and contents were found in good condition. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the cache.
Found while attending the mega in Canberra. I had a great time caching and catching up with friends. This is one of the caches found today. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the cache.

I've enjoyed seeing many places and beautiful views and very different from other states. Beautiful day and saw thick fogs Beautiful drive country road with my brand new Prado 4x4 With Deaf TeamThank you so much
More big days of caching as WAC consisting of Lachlan1.77, Leg5, neva2old, Barnzy12 and me. So many caches, so little time. Too many tree climbs for my liking but Im a chicken from way back. Thanks to other cachers for helping supply some of the required tools for the higher terrain caches. Thanks to you (and ALL7) for supplying the bulk of the hides Im finding.
Found with a group and signed as WACDG during Mega event. DARKSIDEDAN, thank you so much for placing it for everyone to enjoy and highlighting this area.
Over here for Capital GeoBash Mega. One of many hidden caches all over the city and surrounds on Mega Day itself. Part of deaf geocachers and friends - WACDG, TFTC
Another massive day with the WA Crew signing WAC. If we arent up trees, we are wading through water or hiking mountains. We are grateful for locals who have shared their TOTT with us. Since we all flew to get to Canberra, it wasnt possible to bring the tools necessary for the high terrain caches. For some of the day we cached with an awesome group signing DG as deaf group; truly a generous and welcoming group. Thanks for your contribution in hiding this cache to make our experience as amazing as its been so far. Please forgive us if the dates are incorrect; we are catching up online logging whenever we find time.
Hot weather today on country road. Found with a group and signed as WACDG during Mega event. TFTM

What a huge day was planned for today. I hooked up with Bluewattle to drive to Yass and around the areas to collect letterboxes and challenge caches. This was just before we were to meet up with Ardom to continue our caching travels for the day.First off was the letterboxes of the area (sausages) and a drive around a farm property collecting a few more which was super fun. It was then back on the road to our meeting point for a tree climb and meet up. the tree climb was a tuff one for me.We then worked out where we were going and how we would get all these in a day. It was an awesome day and I was super surprised at how fast we were going along. I guess it helps when the caches are there and in good condition. It was a super day and the CO's should be super happy with their caches in this area. Thanks for the fun we had today. All logs were signed and caches replaced as found.
TFTC Big day trip up to Yass with chamad and Ardom to fill up D/T grids and such
Out caching today with friends. 4 of us having a fun time each trying to be the first to get a hold of the cache. We signed as team JARS to save log room. Joojoo57, Aussie Liahona, RichmondLad and Selva Girls. Many thanks to all the COs who hid the caches we found today for ensuring this was a great caching day while we were attending the MEGA.Cheers and happy caching!
A day out with jojoo57, AussieLiahona, and Richmond Lad. I enjoyed being a passenger in a geomobile for a change. ?? Log signed, cache returned to its spot and we continued on our way. Caches signed as JARS. TFTC.
Out and about caching today with jojoo57, AussieLiahona, Selva Girls and myself. Cache signed as JARS. Enjoyed the countryside while finding the caches. Log signed and cache placed back where found. TFTC.
Out in the countryside as part of the JARS team finding lots of caches and enjoying the views. Thanks COs for the caches.
Geoturtle37 and I are taking a few days to get to the Capital GeoBash. We decided to keep off the main roads where possible but there are so many caches in and around Canberra, that we didn't know where to start. We were in this general area so decided to pick up some sausages on our way through. Shame but I doubt we will have time to do them all. Maybe if we return this way, we could find some more.Apologies for the generic logs but we are grateful for the time and effort that has gone into placing all these caches. Thank you.
Saturday and a free day in Canberra for Taurus Six and I . For the last couple of days I had been caching on my own whilst Taurus Six was at a work conference. After a lovely breakfast catch up with friends at the Arboretum , we had a good few hours to go off for geocaching before catching up with other friends later in the day for late afternoon drinks and dinner. We decided on a slightly different plan of action noticing that there were several letter box caches and challenge cache on the back roads outside Murrumbateman and Yass . Of course before setting off in that direction we had to collect the Adventure Labs at the Arboretum which took us to some great look outs. We love the way the Arboretum has grown and matured since we lived in Canberra it really is going to become a beacon for the future. It was a beautiful Canberra early autumn day a little bit cool first thing but by mid morning it was already warming up to be a beautiful day.The back roads between Canberra , Murrumbateman and Yass were nice and peaceful, everything very dry and the grass quite long on parts we were a little conscious of snakes , however the only creature we did see was a beautiful echidna that did not appear to fearful of our closeness. We are also quite surprised at the growth of both Murrumbateman and Yass not having seen them for a few years wow housing is going up everywhere. All in all for the day we collected 12 Letterboxes, 12 challenge caches , 16 Adventure Labs and just two dnfs . Thanks for the caches Darksidedan and providing a good excuse for us to revisit these parts.
Yass Day 4 0our last day staying for a few days at the showgroundsA large variety of DTs completed today. Suausages, frogs Lizard & challenge caches are included in our trip. This was a great way to visit the area,Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for hiding this cache.
Cache 10958 on 25 Feb 2024. Headed out with partner to Dog Trap road, him for winery assistance, me for some caches. After dropping him off, I continued north to the stock reserve to grab the letterboxes in the stock reserve I did not get last time I was in the area, then continued north and circled back to the winery via a few other caches. Eleven from eleven, although it was a close run thing at a couple of them! Quick find on the way past. Cache in good shape. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the cache and the fun!
Reperio 13:41This was Day 3 of our camping getaway to Yass to go in search for some of the local geocaches, and things got off to a very early start being woken up by some extra enthusiastic 4WDers, so we decided to leave where we were and resume where we left off yesterday. With approximately 150 caches found today, we had an awesome day with only about 10 DNFs, and managed to either replace broken containers or do some log maintenance along the way. A tour of cache finding to-day around the country side area to the south of Yass. TFTC.
Travelled back from Yass via DTRd and of course picked up another letterbox . Still got a few days left, but thinking I might need to leave some for the next visit anyway thats a problem to consider tomorrow.
Another day, chasing challenge caches and getting sidetracked by these Letterbox caches that were reminding me that I didn't have a proper breakfast. I had to stop at most of these letterbox caches, including this one, as I needed them for various challenges. So, while I might have been sidetracked, it was all justifiable.
With time to spare on the Yass area, we headed out to grab a few caches. We found a variety of hides, some easy, and many much harder.Signed and replaced as found. Many thanks for placing this cache, DARKSIDEDAN, for us and others to find.
Day 30With the QOGM event now over it was time to cache our way home. A detour at Coffs to visit family is now over and we now have only 2 days to get back home after a month of traveling NSW and QLD.A small detour to complete our 32nd DT loop. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the letterbox placement.
Just out about to catch up geocaching quick find placed back where it belong TFTC

Decided to go on a bit of a cache hunt today with ilook4geo even though it promised to be a hot day. We found a good selection with some being very easy to find and some taking more time. This was a nice quick and easy one and the log soon had two more names on the list. Thanks go to DARKSIDEDAN for this cache placement.
Shared the find here with goingplaces2 and had no problem with this one. All was good with the container and log, which was quickly signed. TFTC.

A day out picking up some caches around Murrumbateman and Yass. Long grass at most, but often with cacher trails which helped. Cache found all OK.
Thanks
Thanks
After making a group find on a cache nearby, fitzy_1965 and I detour to grab this letterbox as we both needed one for our self-imposed challenge.
A nice easy find today.
Thanks DSD.

29,773. Found with minniek after our group find at the nearby Skull of Souls.
After resting up after this mornings warm adventures, a group of us met up at Skull of Souls for an attempt despite signs that it might be missing. albida searched up high with no luck. Finding the skull some distance away we found it cacheless. A call to the CO who as always was very helpful and allowed us to replace the cache. The replacement was constructed and signed, and albida did the climb yet again I held the ladder . After that, minniek and I happened to need a Letterbox Hybrid today, and with a billion of them nearby (ok - a small exaggeration) we headed on over to this one for a quick find. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then we headed home the scenic route.
Thanks DSD !!

Out and about with FFLL#1 and ALL7 to pick up some countryside caches. Was nice weather today and we managed to get our names in all the caches we attempted. There were a couple we didnt attempt due to their placements but thats all good. Logs signed as FAR (FurfacesLL, ALL7 and Rapidlywild) for those which we all needed, otherwise it was individual names.
No issues with this one, signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache placement DARKSIDEDAN and thanks for a nice day out FFLL and ALL7.

Last minute change of plans meant Saturday was now free. So plans were made with ALL7 and Rapidlywild to go and collect a few caches that had popped up on the map. Actually there are heaps to do but getting the time to do them is rare.
Weather was ideal for caching which made for a pleasant day out in the countryside.
All caches we attempted we found including a couple we could see but valued life a little more to attempt. So no DNF's for us today which was nice. All caches that were found were signed with either FAR (FurfacesLL, ALL7 Rapidlywild) or individual names.
Thanks for the never ending hides DARKSIDEDAN and thanks for the fun and laughs ALL7 and Rapidlywild.

Out on a lazy weekend drive around the back roads of Yass...again.
Super friendly locals who honk loudly as they drive passed my safely-as-possible parked car...some even did a U-turn so they could do it from the opposite direction. Good times!
Skipped nearly all the trads, focused on the challenges and the used-to-be rare types that are everywhere up here.

With the car at Mitchell again for an electrical change to be done, I was joined by Smitten Granny for a selection of caches on Long Rail Gully Road and then Dog Trap Road. We proceeded in to Yass for an early lunch before heading back to Mitchell to collect my car after the work apparently took ten minutes. Oh well. We had a great day, even if some of the dirt roads are in very poor condition after the excessive rains we have had.
