Logs
Read and double read and triple read the clues. Then the rain started. Abandoned with no cache
Secret stairs? Not today: busy as!I had a good idea, and should have gone straight there. As it happened, I had to walk all the way up and count it back down to get it right At least I know I wont be the last!
Found with some help from Samuel737 after a few misses. We were one flight off, there is a hidden set of stairs TFTC!
Not in the obvious spot, good cache. I've always wanted to come here, very peaceful. TFTC
Had to be very quick and sneaky with this one as there was a group of muggles exercising on the steps. Didnt get to sign the log though but found it either way. TFTC
Perfect find in the middle of a hot summer day, with so many flora sheltering geocachers. TFTC
After our 2nd time there, we decided to walk from the bottom and count the platform and low and behold the first time we were looking at the wrong platform. TFTC
I was hoping the mozzies would carry me back to car to get some aeroguard. But no - I made the trip again. But worth it when I found the cache - and after a message to owner for a little help
Enjoyed the walk down and when I got to the right level didn't take long to find the cache. But then I was faced with the clamber back up with a dicky knee which took the enjoyment out of it. But it was a good cache so thanks for the cache.
Second attempt at this one and it was successful! In some ways you forgot you in the suburbs and think you are in a rainforest instead for a brief moment. Had rethink what a flight of stairs was and realised I was too high and this time I had come from the top. Thought about it more along with the hint and helped me work out where the cache was. Cant believe I passed it so many times last time. TFTC
I had time to kill between appointments, so I thought I would try to find a cache due to the rain stopping. The wind had been still a little too strong, so I had given up on getting a Tree Geek cache, I chose this one instead as it was one on my list that I felt comfortable looking for after the rain. I never realised these stairs existed. Parked metres from the stairs at the bottom. They were pretty easy to find. I attempted to follow the directions in the description and use the hint as well as some photos from past logs. But in the end, I ran out of time when I realised I had to leave and get to my next appointment. Funny enough with the person who told me about Geocaching (she only has been out once with me which was my first ever day geocaching . She had learnt about Geocaching from her daughter who had done it with friends). I will come back and turn this frown upside down as soon as I can being a local. Had two TB with me at the time but now dropped off one on Ash Island after my appointment.
And another steepish walk up from Tree fishing. What a great set of hidden stairs. Then I was trying to decide what constitutes a flight. Figured it out and soon had the clever cache in hand. A fav
These steps were a lot steeper than expected, and over a 100 of them! However, I took it slowly and reached the correct level before a search of likely places gave me the prize. Now I just had to get back up to the car, but it was a really good cache and challenge, so thanks for that.
Wow that took us awhile to find. Definitely needed some searching.
Great spot I'd never been to.

Had lunch nearby and about to head back to Tanilba Bay, but couldn’t resist another crack at this sneaky hide. My spidey senses could feel it
Back we went down the stairs and this time I took a tool, so I didn’t have to worry about touching grotty things My tool soon bumped up against something solid... Woot! Our work is done here.
TFTC Samuel, nicely done

After doing a couple of tree-fishing caches, I was going past this one on my way to the next tree so stopped off for a bit of a cardio workout. Counting the flights down, I reached the desired landing and started looking at where I might hide a magnetic cache, which I found in the very first place I looked!
The climb back up wasn't too bad but it did work up an appetite for my planned fish-and-chips lunch in Lambton, except I didn't allow for the fish and chip shop not opening for lunch on Mondays and Tuesdays. The best laid plans and all that, oh well.
Many thanks for the nice hide in an interesting spot.

Well this one took me a bit longer then I care to admit. Very fun, I don't thank u for the cardio tho lol TFTC
Approached from the road below. Our friend lived a couple of doors away and I never knew this existed. I like the way the stairs zig zag, good for in between rests. Good training for my upcoming trip to Machu Picchu. Ta
2nd DNF...Even after hint by owner I still can't find..definitely on right lvl..but still can't see it. Obviously missing something
OK disregard....hmm I just didn't feel it when I poked around first time....hahaha you got me.
After a few attempts and our step count being off we finally found this one with some help it was tricky and well hidden, we signed the log & added a sticker tftf
Had some time before heading to the airport today, so grabbed some caches on the way. Wow never would have known these stairs were here . What a cool little spot. I was on the wrong level when Mr Minion said he had found it . Then it was a slow walk back up the stairs. Thanks for the cache tnln replaced as found sl
Using the cache description, didn’t take to long to find, dry log, good cache for fitness
TFTC Team 737. took me a while to get this one. came back today and i found it fairly quickly. cheers
DNF-Dragged my bike up and down the steps but didn’t seem to find it. i’ll hopefully come back sometime soon.
Replaced container with new and improved as the old container was holding some water inside…
Happy Caching!
Happy Caching!
Found on second attempt. Was definitely on the wrong level last time.Best to attack from bottom car park.TFTC
Nice little spot there around the forest witch created a nice stroll. TFTC??????
This took a couple of go's. First time around we parked nearby and made the descent. Based on the hint and what was around, how hard could it be.... yeah right famous last words. We gave up and headed off shopping.
Little did I realise Chockid7 posted a DNF already. Maybe I should've been a little more vocal saying we'd come back after shopping. I hate being beaten particularly after it was found the day before. While we were shopping Chockid7 received a message from CO confirming it was absolutely still there.
We headed back after shopping, parked in the same place and started the descent. I got 5 flights down and realised I forgot the darn pen. Back up I go. Then back down... Again!!
By the time I got back down the kids already had cache in hand. FYI pays to read the description. ??. TFTC ??

Finally got around to attempting this one on the way home from a swim. Easy find once I was on the right level. Great spot too. Really liked coming here, except for the mozzies. TFTC!!! #1999
This one took me a while - I was out by 1 so I ended up on the wrong level. Once in the right place I found it straight away. TFTC!
We checked the cache after a DNF - its there.... coordinates were reading 5m once settled, but did bounce a lot.
I never knew these steps were here, I'm definitely feeling it after climbing back up. Reasonably easy find once on the right level. TFTC
Found on the way to picking up my son. I decided to attempt this from the lower side with only 3 sets of stairs, my GPS took mme straight to the correct level and found cache 1 meter from GZ. nice quick find in the first place I looked, outer contanainer a bit damp inside but inner container was dry..
Signed log and Cache replaced as found.

We searched and searched. Then we found Techsavvy9, and we all searched and searched. Then we each contacted a friend, and when one replied and we got the right level we found the cache, nicely crafted. Unfortunately we had lost count of the levels when we saw Techsavvy9 (thought she was a Landcare worker!) - it does help to count properly! TFTC (we think), and a fav.
TFTC. You would think I would know better by now than to rely on my phone for gps accuracy. My phone had me on the wrong level. I phoned a friend but she told me what I already suspected but because I was on the wrong level I couldn’t find it. Along came 2pods to the rescue. Geoff found it after we were there for ages. However, I think we did more talking than searching. Now to walk up those stairs. My knees had no trouble but I was huffing and puffing when I got to the top. A good cardio workout. I felt something on my neck, a hitchhiker. I pulled it off and it was a tick. Now I’m feeling something crawling on me but alas nothing.
What a great spot. Got a bit of exercise going to and from GZ. Like the hide. TFTC
Doing this in pouring rain was a silly idea. Added an extra T factor to this! Great to get an extra one today but we might save the new tree climbs for a dry day! TNLN TFTC

Not sure how secret these steps are, as no doubt the running community knows all about them, but having used these steps myself to train on for the past 12 years for ultras, Oxfam Trailwalker events and most recently, the Larapinta Trail…they are probably the best steps in all of Newcastle. Today I couldn’t resist revisiting them one more time to grab the cache before leaving Newcastle, so my son and I made the walk down and back up to tick this one off.
