We spent most of today in the Whangrei Heads area and picked up a few caches along the way. Took the geohound for a walk along this trail and up five caches. This one was a quick find once Id figured out the correct tree. #8038. TFTC.
Whilst Tjay and the oldest went to home bay for the tree planting the youngest and I took the small walk around the base of Mt Aubrey. Weather was amazing and our youngest loved being free to explore the track.
I parked up for the night and headed out for a late afternoon/early evening walk with matagouri, enjoying the beautiful scenery as we walked.Thirsty work, all this walking and caching, so this was an excellent time for a tea break.I left pet rock - a duck. Thanks for putting this here
Out for an evening walk with rattll, around the coast at Whangarei Heads. Amazing views back up the harbour on a still, clear night. A bit of a grunt up the steep bit, so pleased to stop for a tea break here. Quickly found. All good in the container. Signed, and returned as found. Tftc!
Saw this sitting out in the open, so put it back in place. Such a great cache, a fave for sure so would be sad to have it go missing
Did not find at the first hint object so pondered awhile in the bench. Loved this clever hide. A favourite from us !
2169. Brilliant spot. FP for bringing me here and the interesting "camo". TFTC(in a beautiful spot).
I'm back up in my home town of Whangarei for the weekend, visiting family. This afternoon I headed out to Whangarei Heads for some exploring and caching, including walking around this series of caches around Reotahi... an area my parents once owned a section many years ago. A quick find here of this unusual, but neat cache. Fav point for the hide and view. TFTC!
Awesome hide spot and container...very whimsicaljust incase you're searching with little ones the Kowhai is safe side of track. Happy times.
Out and about with the kids doing the walk around Reotahi. Decided to grab the caches at the same time. Not many options at GZ. Found the cache. Unfortunately only water that we brought with us was had while enjoying the views. Need to let C/O know it needs a refill for the next TFTC
Saw notification of these new caches pop up in my email and thought "that's a track that I didn't know about". With the weekend upon us we spent most of it working on a garden project before deciding to take a break late Sunday afternoon to walk this small part of the Te Araroa trail.
Parking at the Whangarei Heads Pioneer Church in Stuart Road was the starting point for our evening walk and cache hunt. The start of this little expedition is an easy walk along Stuart Road towards the jetty and once at the road end by the jetty the actual track starts.
The first cache left us "pining" for more of the flat track we had encountered at the start but to get to this cache was a steady climb upwards, possibly made easier by the stairs although I heard some comments from the other half of SmithsNZ. On arriving close to GZ we could see a car parked on the high point just through the trees and hear the muggles talking.
Luckily they decided that the strong southerly wind was not the best for sitting and admiring the view so they soon left. This enabled us to quickly find the nicely themed cache which gets a favourite point from us for imagination (and recycling).

It was a lovely track to walk along. A few steps in places but that's just good for the old heart rate.
I was fortunate enough to have gz to myself which was probably because the weather was a bit showery at times. I easily found the cache and headed for the seat to sign the log. Tucked the cache container under my jacket to avoid any questions while signing. Didn't want to explain things if a muggle appeared. 8.42 and another {FTF}.
I'm sure it's a beautiful view on a lovely sunny day. Thanks for this cool cache hide
