On the way to Goulburn for the day to collect caches. Nice to sign this off. TFTC
Back up the Federal and Hume Highways for a few hours today to make a further dent in the Goulburn-region cache collection. This was a nice challenge for the morning. All good with cache and log. Thanks, fitzy_1965!
A last minute decision early morning to head north again for a few hours. A beautiful warm spring day with beautiful green views all around particularly while driving on the highway.Quick to spot, easy to retrieve, sign and return. A favourite for something a bit different. TFTC fitzy_1965!
I really should have looked at the D/T ratings before stopping, arrived at GZ "oh it one of those hides" first i looked up couldnt notice anything before having the feeling of my eye balls being burnt out, secondly i dont even own one of those tools so ill put this on hold for another timeCheers
The cache has been sitting at ground level rather than its T5 position for just about all of 2024 as a result of the magnets and tape having come unstuck, as ozb raised via an NM in Feb.
I was at home today doing the usual things - cleaning various parts of the house and preping for dinner, when there was a loud knock at the door. Now - I'm a law abiding GeoCacher - and so I was quite surprised when I opened the door to see The Self Proclaimed GeoCache Police on my doorstep - looking wonderful in there University Style Uniforms. "Are You fitzy_1965??" Barked the Leader. I drew myself up to Attention - memories of my time in Army come flooding back - and yelled back "Yes Sir!" They started wagging their fingers at me yelling something about cache maintenance taking precedent over all other human activities. I don't remember much else as I was still at attention. They soon stormed off, and so I dropped all house activities (which will get me in trouble with the wife) and jumped into the GeoMobile and hit the road with our Cache Maintenance Bag. Climbing the ladder with no ground crew I soon had a replacement in - well - place ! Having survived that, I replaced several other caches, then headed home to hopefully avoid the wrath of minniek re said cleaning and dinner prep !This cache is back up high and ready to earn the T5 again. Perhaps the Self Proclaimed Cache Police might delete their "Found It" Log and come back and do it "Properly???"
Having noticed a CITO on beside Lake George this morning, I spontaneously decided to head out and grab a bag of rubbish or two before venturing further to Goulburn and Tallong to pick up a few caches, visit some nice lookouts, and score my 4000th find along the way!The DT on this one caught my eye, so I headed down the dirt road preparing to pull the ladder out of the car. However, a brief look at the past logs suggested that retrieval may be a bit simpler than that and, sure enough, the cache was sitting at ground level under a rock where it's ostensibly been positioned for all of this year.I signed the log and contemplated replacing it higher, although I wasn't confident that I could get it any higher than the grate on my own today (which would probably make it more conspicuous than desired) and the attachment mechanism is in need a refresh anyway.Still love seeing this concept executed on such structures with larger containers so I hope to see this one back to its former glory soon. The rock sitting on top of the cache was replaced just as a pretty gnarly spider decided to emerge; it must've been tucked underneath the rock as I picked it up off the cache and put it back - eek! Thanks to fitzy_1965 for the hide here!
Find#1926Found today on our first day caching around Goulburn. Me and Shaneo58 are down here to work on some challenge caches near home in the Hunter valley and trying to claim some unique DTs to fill our grid also. After arriving here we made a quick find. Cache is clearly not in the right spot. Cache and log in good condition TFTC
As mentioned in previous log, cache is not in the correct location. I have replaced as found. -After spending 4 big days in Canberra for the Capital Geo Bash, it was time for me to leave Canberra and head towards Goulburn. I decided to spend a night in Goulburn to tackle a bunch of high terrain and/or high terrain caches, and pick up some solved mysteries. Thank you my_name_jeff_1, for placing Chlorine for the geocaching community.# # #14630 # #
GreenGecko1 & I are heading to the GeoBash in Canberra and collecting the odd LGA on the way.Nice hide, cache found, signed and returned.
Made a guess as to where it was likely to be, made the ascent only to spot it on the highway side of the fence in the long grass. Retrieved and left at the base of a post. It needs attention! Thanks for the cache my_name_jeff_1
Ive replaced the cache from the bottom to the top, but its just sitting on the grate. Needs maintenance if to be replaced in original position.
Checked it out to suss out whether our ladder would be tall enough but found on the ground instead. TFTC!
Find # 10398We found it on the ground. The cache is now at the base of an upright with a brick on top.TFTC my_name_jeff_1 20 January 2024 18:43
Picking up a few caches in and around Goulburn whilst on the way home from our new-year's camping trip along the south coast, Namadgi NP, and CBR. Youngest geokid enjoying the freeclimbs this week. I told him what to expect here when we left the previous cache and he was keen to keep the ladder on the roof where it has been on the entire trip. Success but agree with previous finder - not sure about that mounting system. TFTC, my_name_jeff_1.#1749
Yass/Canberra trip. Day One My son and I headed off on our annual caching trip. Of late its around 7 days away. I found 13 caches today most were found for a challenge and the other was found for my 20th loop. Yippee All were found and signed. Couple were difficult to find. Day Two9 found today I was picking up a new LGA. In the end I needed to pickup the speed and less caching. The push to Yass was that the office closed at 6pm. All were found and signed. Couple were difficult to find.Day Three. My son and I were up early for day of caching. We headed to Canberra chasing a lot of challenges. I signed 31 challenges today. I will need to find which ones I qualify for. I also found three trads. One of them took awhile to find.I had a good day caching in Canberra. Day FourMy Son stayed at the caravan park today. I had organise to cache with JACS Team today. With a late message from GreenGecko1 about getting help with a very big ladder to do some hard to get to caches. So few of this morning caches Sue001 joined us. Most of the climbs were done by GreenGecko1. The rest of the day JACS team and race up and down the road finding and signing log. I signed 43 challenges and 12 other caches. It was a found day today caching.Day 5, My son and I headed to Canberra again today to sign more challenge caches. In the end it was 31 caches. Then I decided to chase virtual as I couldnt find many in SEQ. I did 10 today. Plus finish with a multi. My son and I had really good fun day. Then we headed back to Yass.Day 6,Today meet with JACS Team. We had a very big list. In the end we signed 103 today. How many can I remember not many. A few tree climb a lot on the ground. We replace a few caches. But of course we didnt have enough caches with us. We had a fun day. Day 7Back to Canberra today for an event and to find a few more caches that were still on my list. After that I headed back to Yass to pack up my tent and start heading home. I had a few on my list to get. We got to Sydney late. I found 34 caches today. my_name_jeff_1 thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for geocaching community enjoyment.
Find #1 of my roadtrip down to the Sapphire Coast from Sydney. Having never been to Goulburn I asked for some recommendations and this one was at the top of the list. Drove to quiet GZ and headed over to the structure. I climbed up free and hauled myself onto the platform. Reached over for the container and then signed the log. Awesome view and great feeling at GZ. Signed the log, TNLN. Loved this cache, one of my favourites in a while! FP! (Edit: not sure how strong the tape that is holding it on is. May need to be topped up)
Day 1 of our Christmas - New Year 2023 holidays, and we have arrived in Goulburn. After setting up, it was time to grab a few geocaches that caught our eyes. Mostly some puzzles, multicaches, and some high DT geocaches. After dinner, it was time to grab a few more geocaches. The rain seems to be holding off for a little while longer, so while the sun is up, the 999s will play. This is definitely a D1 as we spotted the geocache from the car as we drove past. Turned about, and we spent a few minutes working out the best position for the TOTT. I was selected to go up while the girls were support crew. Soon had it signed and returned. Thanks for the cache, my name Jeff 1Hunter
Mr Minion and I are spending a few days in Goulburn finding caches, we are really enjoying the town and the variety of the hides. What an awesome hide , replaced the container with the cos permission. Thanks for the cache tnln replaced as found sl
Itd been a while since wed been to Goulburn, so a days caching with steeba and Hoojar was mapped out.Armed with our TOTT we picked up a good handful caches in the area. Thanks to the COs for placing the caches.Like others we found the tape. See pic. Tape signed TFTC
On a day trip with The Rats and Steeba, targeting caches in and around Goulburn. Found the remnants of the cache.Cheers
Headed down Goulburn way with The Rats and Hoojar to tackle mainly Periodic table series caches- plenty of interesting places and hides, with some TOTTs required. A good day out all around.TFTC!
OH DEAR very high large sign and bring ladder to climbing to saw tape but missing cache and i took photo send to owner. father ... He say oh bugger ,,, lol Need replace soon... Enjoyed drive around the place and Back to home ,....Lovely cool weather... tks Fav for you... wink
Thought we couldnt do this one with rope but it was really easy. Found in ground out back up. Great climb. TFTC FP
I had been planning on joining a small group to head to Goulburn for an event and some caching afterwards, but due to various reasons, this did not happen. This left me having to decide if I would still head up alone. When I woke up I felt it would be a fun way to spend the day and I am glad I dad as it was a great morning out of the house.
After the even, Lochi managed to convince the local ladder holder to join in a short trip to two caches that needed this special tool type. I joined in for the first one and was happy to see Lochi get straight to the cache that disappears in its hide and needs a good feel to extract if you are the right end.

An excellent location for a cache! I have actually been to GZ before, finding the other non-T5 caches nearby. But once I saw where it was hidden, and that I didn't have a ladder, I knew this was an impossible free climb!
Back today and with the help of Fitzy, I scaled the ladder and got my name in the log!
Many thanks, have a favourite point from me for something a bit different

We dropped past here on a little post caching tour. Very bold location, but I guess the passer buys aren't stopping. Thanks for the fun!

Day 3/4 of our Mittagong/Goulburn Trip.
Today we targeted lots of good DT’s around the Goulburn/Brayton area, while also grabbing letterboxes and other cool cache types in between. We found some great caches in some amazing areas.
This one was my favourite of the day. We climbed up to the obvious spot and after checking a few hides, the cache revealed itself. FP awarded, TNLN SL

Today we’re caching around Goulburn. We have grabbed the odd roadside rest-cache here in previous stops, but have never spent any time caching the area.
We’re chasing some DTs we need today, and of course anything that appears at our bow, plus the essential trig points.
Not at all noxious! Great fun in fact, scarier than it looks!
Thanks for the cache!

Messaged Rapidlywild to see when her next RDO was and suggested taking today to attend the CITO and collect some caches around the Goulburn area. She was keen so one of the FFLL team took a TOIL day as well.
Lovely day for it although a little chilly and all caches were found and we were also given prior permission to replace if any were missing. Loved the number of tree fishing caches here they are a bonus. We were joined by fitzy_1965 for the remainder of our tour around Goulburn which was helpful.
Thanks for the hide my_name_jeff_1 and thanks for a fun day out Rapidlywild and company fitzy_1965.
Took the TB from this one.

Received a message from FFLL#1 about 2 weeks ago asking when my next RDO was at work, oh there is a daytime event on in Goulburn today? cool, so RDO was booked. We made our way up the highway and grabbed a couple caches prior to the event. We decided to start at the northern end of Goulburn and grab whatever we could throughout the day. We were joined by DSD before the event as we made our way across the mountain collecting caches we hadn't signed and post the event, we were joined by Fitzy. It was a great day out and about, the weather was wonderful and we had a lovely time, sure beats sitting in the office.
Now we had done the CITO, it was time to continue our adventures and we had Fitzy join us for the ride. Onto the next closest and this was the target. Well thats a bit naughty... with all the signs and guards we have been doing, then BAM a T5.. well then. Luckily we came prepared with the right TOTT and FFLL did the honors, signed and replaced for next finders.
Thanks for the cache placement and maintenance my_name_jeff_1 and thanks for a super fun day out and about FFLL

We weren't chasing this type of cache, but luckily had a suitable tott with us anyway. A bit of a ground search had us in the right place and soon had cache in hand. Tftc.
Tb dropped to continue her adventures

FIJ held the tott while I went up to the correct height. The cache was easy to see once I was at the right level. You could say that it was elementary. But that would be a terrible pun. Truckers driving past must have wondered what I was doing up there.

Chooo ooo [Found] with dty73 , Joolay and Kittykatch - Took a long time to spot! Maybe a bit harder than D1! Thanks my_name_jeff_1!
In Goulburn with dty73, Joolay and Tankengine and we had time to do just one more cache before the CITO started. We picked this cache as it was close to the event and has a nice DT combo. We got to the end of the road and found a tradie Ute parked, maybe having a smoko. We got out and started the search for the container as we figured this is not the kind of cache that would be easily muggled. It took us a while to to spot the container , but I finally spied it. Like previous, finders, we used the natural TOTT at GZ to retrieve the cache, and were very happy we could use it to put the cache back A very neat hide. Thanks again for hiding this cache my_name_jeff_1
After not having the right TOTT we made do with one nearby. It was a bit tricksy but we managed with strategic use of local resources. Spotting it was also a bit tricky but deduction reduced the options and we soon had it in hand. Returning it however took time and dexterity.
Thanks for getting me out and about my_name_jeff_1

Being back in Goulburn together with ilook4geo meant we were able to pick up a few more of the caches from the periodic table. This was one of our targets. There was no problem in spotting and retrieving this one and signing both names either in full form or in initials. It was then replaced as required. Thanks to my_name_jeff_i for placing this cache.
This periodic table series is the closest to science that I get, so picked up some more today with goingplaces2. No problem here and reached the cache successfully with the TOTT. Signed and replaced the log. TFTC.
Took a while to spot, then wondered how to get to it. Didn't have the expected tool, but managed to use the tool that I had to retrieve and replace it. All good.
Thanks,
Thanks,
After finding out that I wasn’t needed for work today, I decided on heading to Goulburn for the lunchtime CITO. However, before I arrived I went on a cache finding spree. I managed to get quite a few quick and easy finds of the Elements series plus a few others which have been on the to-find-list. Once it was getting close to event time, I went and got KFC for lunch. The event was a small crowd this time with only the CO, Minniek, Toy Hunters, Sebass19 and myself. A few bags of rubbish was filled. Afterwards, Toy Hunters, Sebass19, myself with the assistance Fitzy_1965 went to find some more caches which required some very special TOTT’s. At 2pm, I headed off from them to go home but not before finding three more caches before the drive home. It was a great day. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found and for allowing them to bring me and the caching community enjoyment. TFTE & TFTC’s!
A big thanks to Fitzy_1965 who brought the TOTT, so we could find this one. Once at GZ, we spent a moment looking to spot it first. Once we had eyes on it, up the ladder Toy Hunters went. Soon we were signing it and now it was time to replace. So up the ladder I went to replace it. Thanks for the great cache and FP given.

Found with sebass19 and JohnoMawbs on a fun day of caching in Goulburn whilst here for today's GGGT CITO. Lovely sunny day. With the right TOTT, we were able to put our team work together to retrieve the cache all and well, but not without a couple of frights! A memorable find! TNLNSL. TFTC!

Joined the **MCO** expedition with **Purplepeopleater**, **bella at waggy**, **Baktrak**, **Team Merlin**, **TARDIS 0061** and **Asbestiform**. After a hearty breakfast in Mittagong, we headed off under threatening skies and cleared out our targets in that area.
Then off to Goulburn to cherry pick our way through the periodic table.
By the end of the day, the tally was around 50 finds after venturing further down the Hume to Goulburn and surrounds.

PPE and myself had been talking about some select targets on a southern day run. We decided to not be too antisocial and moved the day around to suit a few others which came in handy at one of the other caches. The group consisted of PPE, Crash, Baktrak, teamMerlin, Tardis 0061, Asbestiform and yours truly. Targets included puzzles, poles, ladders and some not so common DTs and high D or Ts plus a few others en route.
Logs were signed as MCO as what became known as a Man Called Otto expenditure after the recent movie release and some grumpy kidding around. We completed the signing duties and re hid.
A quick bit of ladder work here before driving to the bill board on the other side for some pole work. TFTC

Found this as a group of 7 out on a day of caching. Signed as MCO. Thanks to all the cache owners who we discover their caches to day. A most enjoyable day thanks guys. Cheers
Wonderful expedition to the Southern Highlands and flat bits between Mittagong, , Marulan and Goulburn with the "Men called Otto": Baktrak, bella at waggy, Crash2079, Purplepeopleater, Tardis0061, teamMerlin and me. Logs signed MCO. Various cache selections typically with uncommon DT ratings, squid fishing and climbing along with a few longer walks. Weather held off. Thanks to all COs for your efforts.
Joined the grumpy expedition into the southern lands for the day. Inspired by the new movie "A Man Called Otto" our group including teamMerlin, Baktrak, Purplepeopleater, bella at waggy, crash2079, TARDIS 0061 and asbestiform with all physical caches signed under the name MCO. With the cache in hand, we signed the log then replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache my_name_jeff_1.

What started out as a twinkle in my and bella at waggy's eye for a southern highlands incursion earlier in the week for some periodic table cheery picking, turned into a full scale grumpy expedition. Inspired by the newly released "A Man Called Otto" (which is an American interpretation of the fabulous "A Man called Ove") and the "apparent" similarities to several of our group's demeanor and appearance, the expedition was officially deemed the "Man Called Otto" expedition (OMC) and comprised: myself, Baktrak, Crash2079, Tardis0061, teamMerlin, Asbestiform and bella at waggy.

On a mission to Bowral and back with AngelG27, SpecimenX and TikvaNZ. We had enough time before an event, so we swung by Goulburn. This one looked interesting with a great d/t combo. TikvaNZ spied the cache, but the design of the construction offered a challenge to climb. Soon, I had the log signed and carefully made my way back down to solid ground. that was fun. Teamed up with AngelG27, Fox in Jox and TikvaNZ (FAST in some of the logs to save space) to attend an event in Bowral and nab several select caches that were on the radar.
We spied the hide on this one and even though we had a TOTT which could retrieve the cache, our other tool (:D), Fox in Jox, displayed some impressive gymnastics to do the honours here
Thanks for the hide, my_name_jeff_1!

Four of us (Fox in Jox, AngelG27, SpecimenX and TikvaNZ or FAST) headed up the highway to go to the event at Bowral organized by Pantspeople and decided to grab a few while on the road. A fun afternoon and lots of laughs!
Headed to this cache and it was soon spotted. Fox did the retrieve through sheer strength and then did the legals. Impressive effort Fox!

Now that they have been published and found, I am claiming a find. I hope everyone enjoys the series and the different types of hides. There will be a couple of puzzles at the end.

Continuing our drive south, we could see there was still an unfound hide in the outskirts of Goulburn.
We keep a variety of TOTTs in the car when we travel, and arriving at GZ we were not initially sure which tool might be needed here.
After spotting a likely hide at GZ, we circumnavigated and pretty soon had our sights set on a target.
We retrieved it from a higher elevation, signed and we could see that the log was still blank.
A FP here.
Thanks my_name_jeff_1
