CaptainVimes and I have crossed the ditch to attend the Geo Toroa mega in Dunedin and tour around the South Island for two weeks. This area is smack bang in the middle of roadworks atm. Beautiful spot though. Thanks Sallies and happy caching
Our first find in New Zealand! Hoping to find at least one every day of our trip. Beautiful spot to stop, thank you for the cache
Spent a while looking but couldnt find. Either the grass was too long or not there.
Found with ObnoxiousSpaceCat, bit of a search to find this one but we knew it when we saw it. TFTC!
Found with Gummi_Venus. Happy to have another oldie! My coords were about 5m off. Youll just have to nose around for awhile until you see the standard sign of a cache.
On a road trip today picking up some of the cache north and east of where my daughter lives, there seems quick a few that I have not had time to grab on previous trips. Pleased to grab a number today. The view was chilly today as it is trying to snow. Burr
Out and about with 1MinnieMoo - concentrating on some older caches - this one came onto our radar.
We pulled up and made our way down toward GZ. Thankfully, we spotted a well-hidden container. We signed the log and returned the cache to its home.
A fantastic (yes - gorge-ous one might even hazard to say!) place for a cache. TFTC Sallies

Fangsoki and I arrived overnight from Brisbane for a 3 week journey around New Zealand’s South Island. This is my first time in the country, and we have been picking and choosing the caches for the list for months. Actually, truth be told, we started planning this a couple of years ago, however covid put a squash on the plans back then, causing us to also miss out on the Auckland mega.
Thankfully nothing stopped us this time, and today marks the start of our adventures.
We parked our campervan, our home for the next 3 weeks, over the road and wandered across and down. Cache was quickly found with the friendly resident bumblebee guarding it.
A pretty spot here, I took the long way back up to the car.
Thanks for the cache Sallies.

Hubby took the lead on this one....watch out the grass tuffs get slippery, mind your footing.
We're down in Christchurch for a few days and managed a day up in the mountains, then detoured over this way on the way back. Yes, a gorgeous view and a beautiful day to boot. TFTC
Its 7pm its dark and i was getting frustrated then reread a couple of logs and changed my area and waalaa found it.
spent 6 great weeks in New Zealand with my The start was a bit bumpy (Cyclone Gabrielle) but then it got better and better. We travelled to both islands and discovered a lot. We photographed and filmed many beautiful things, but most of it stayed in our hearts.
Almost everywhere we stopped, a cache was already waiting for us. Most of the caches are well maintained and easy to find.
With mostly very nice weather, we saw a lot of this impressive island. In many places, caches were waiting for us, which were sometimes easy and sometimes difficult to find. This cache was also included and was successfully signed
We puzzled a lot in advance and the tours were well prepared
So this box was also well found.
now I have another on my personal cache card.
many thanks to [^] **Sallies** [^] for the effort and the cache and greetings from Germany

Team G0LD: Geocachers 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ are down from Whangarei for a few days. We've all solved the 4 big geoarts so they are the main target for the trip. Of course there were many other solved puzzles that we collected as well. This was our Big Day out plan where we'd planned to get as many caches as we could. Unfortunately we just fell short of our target as we lost track of the exact number of finds. Good preparation and a fantastic team to work with made this an enjoyable and successful day. We'd completed the month challenges, the Fresh Breath, the Smurfs and the new Skelly series. The line up of lollies were our next target caches. This was on the way. Glad to have a loo nearby too as it had been a long day. Neat bridge to look at from our parking spot. Thanks for the hide which took a few turns to get to
Team G0LD ( 0B80B8, Lis's crew & DaffyNZ ) on a caching mission to Christchurch. We had travelled down from Whangarei on Wednesday avo. Solved puzzles were going to be the main focus of our trip. We had spent a lot of 2020 and 2021 solving over 400 puzzles, so we had a lot on our list.
Today looked like being the best weather for our trip, despite a heavy thunderstorm overnight. We had a Big Day Out planned, with a perhaps optimistic target of finding 300 caches in one day. Working together well as a team, with a driver, a navigator and a jumper, we made good progress, but in the end, the bigger distances between caches, that we hadn't anticipated, meant we ended the day a bit short.
A fun day though certainly, and sincere thanks to the GeoArt & Trail CO's, and others, for placing and then maintaining such large numbers of caches so well. A testament to your dedication to Geocaching was the very low number of DNF's during the day. Apologies for the mostly generic logs, but be assured your efforts were truly appreciated.
I managed to find this one in the hint location, after taking a couple of different paths and backtracking. TFTC

Northland's Team Gold (0B80B8, Liz Crew, DaffyNZ) are in Christchurch for a few days collecting all our solved puzzles and other cache types as we drive past. This is our "Big Day Out" to collect as many caches as we can in a day. Sorry for the generic logs. Thanks for placing the cache. We are loving every cache we locate that adds to our tally for the day.
Found it after a couple of passes. TFTC

Hubby climbed the hill from the river side and once he found the cache also found a much easier ay back down. The cache itself was a little damp but RITR paper is all good. Thanks for the efforts and placements
Sat by the river to eat our Sheffield pies. Nearly passed on the cache as a car was parked by the access but it was empty. Thank goodness for elefant tracks as KR couldn't remember details after 10 years. KR said there were people in the car when I returned but I was so taken with the tree trunks, that I didn't notice them.
Found it!
Went all the way to the river first before reading the instructions
What a lovely spot, we have been jet boating here before when we lived nearby
Dropped a TB off for the next cacher
Thanks

Nosynel had found this 3 years ago, so while she had lunch I had a quick search and found it eventually kind of as hinted but not hidden in any way. Bit of work going on on the bridge. Thanks for the hide, Sallies. Amazing it is still here after 20 years! #7684
Yes there are some superb vistas ftom this area..... but not from GZ .after a bit of a "long wet grass" trek the cache was found in good condition enjoyed a stroll along the river bed ....a very noisy / rattling bridge thanks
We nearly gave this a miss but caught a glimpse of the Waimakariri and decided we wanted to see more. Found the parking area but the trees are grown up to obscure the view. We headed in and down. My feet were already wet-as so no worries. I went up and down trying to find a way in, eventually grass bashing my way in to find the cache. We then went to the bottom and checked out the beautiful river. Thanks for bringing us here Sallies.
A road trip in to uncharted territory so why not .
Loaded up the cache mobile and headed up the road and let's see what fun adventures awaite us.
Today we continue our adventures and head towards our targets for the day
Boy o boy dose the bridge bring back memories as I come across here on my Te Araroa adventure as the river is to dangerous to cross where the trail meets the river.
So coming back is great a d to day I have time to take in the views with a bit more time .

Getting out and about in to the out doors is my happy place so any excuse to go caching.

Sneaked away early from work on a quick long weekend road trip. Time to explore after capturing Smurfs!!! Lovely day for it,!
What a narrow neck for all that water. And to think that it can get much much higher in a flood....

Got a bit confused on which road to take to get to the car park but got there in the end. Found a clear path to the cache once parked. TFTC
Had some time to myself today so drove out Oxford way to do some cache maintenance.
3hr43min. 180km. 7.74litres of petrol. 4.3 litres per 100km. $15.79. 22 caches checked. 3 caches found. A very useful day! Rodney. This one was fine.

Bit of a scramble from where we parked. Doubt that the water level will come up this high. TFTC
Found thanks to Judithrichards after I went down under the bridge. Nice view from there too.

We didn't realise until last night that today was the end of Daylight Savings. Woke at 4am and decided while we might as well spend our last day caching in Canterbury now! This cache was the first for the day, and was located at 4.20am (glad the headtorch batteries are surviving well. Can see that the view would be great when the suns up but we did enjoy the cache. Wandered down to this one... it’s certainly not going to get wet! Nice little hide here TFTC
Tftc! You are best to come at the from above rather than bush baah from the side like I did.
Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...
There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!
1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...
No time to waste today - We each had caching jobs to do, and our day was mostly planned... A beautiful outlook and a great place for a stopover. It took a few minutes to track this hide down... Thanks Sallies and TFTC.

After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region along with ABCDF4 we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region

On our way to Oxford on business, so decided to make it a leisurely drive and get some caches along the way. Quick find. TFTC.
Day 4 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.
This is when it starts to get serious. Last night I had my first taste of freedom camping in the campervan. Having cached until it was dark, I had no real idea of where I was when I parked up last night. But I awoke this morning to see that I had chosen a very quiet spot by a river. Two cups of coffee later and I was ready to get on my way again.
But not before having a crack at this cache which I had targetted to fulfil a missing month on my Jasmer Grid. Making my way slowly towards GZ, it was a case of just trying to work out exactly where I should be and how I should get there. After a couple of false starts I eventually found myself close. A bit more searching around and there it was! There were no issues with any aspect of this cache, so the log was swiftly signed and everything replaced exactly as found, and I was back on my way again but not before snapping off a few shots of the view.
Thanks for placing this cache.

.We pulled into the top loop but the GPS had this one way over there so we drove down to the bottom. This is a busy place with a filming crew here. They are going to be 10 min but so are we. Managed to park Zara without obstructing anyone. Then we - hay what - climb up the bank! Bugger. TS is in the lead and gets this one tracked down, finding a track to get us back to Zara after tagging this one. They are still taking shots of a guy putting on gummies?
Friday today, we explored from Rangiora to Lake Lyndon
Its Queens Birthday weekend and The Seagnoid, Zara and I are heading out of town for a long weekend to Arthurs Pass, via Kaikoura. Had a fantastic weekend, seeing lots of new places, a few walks and amazing views, but getting nowhere fast. Bloody cold at times with -3deg frosts. Enjoyed driving back via Lake Brunner, Murchison. An awesome few days exploring.

The dragon and I drove down to the upper loop and from Zara decided that the caches was down below (an odd decision to place a cache celebrating a view on te lower levels, but that's the CO decision so there you go) so we looped around to the bottom. There was a group packing up there, we think they were doing advertising photos - perhaps next year's fall range? the latest fashions in outdoor clothing? They said they would be five minutes but so did we, so we hopped out and went hunting. Dammit, up the bank! The top was the right decision after all. And from the cache we found a nice track down, much better than the direct route up that we used. And yep, we left before the photography team.
Taybeedragon and I are on a five day extended Queen's Birthday weekend. Happy birthday marm! The plan was to cache the Arthur's Pass route, from Rangiora to Lake Buller. You would think four days was enough to do 211 kilometers, but we didn't even manage the 130 to Arthur's Pass village before we had to pull the pin Monday lunchtime for the drive back to Blenheim. But on the way we saw some amazing views, strange geology, weird amounts of ice in the puddles, ice on the inside of our windscreen - it was that cold, caves, wonderful beech forests, rather a lot of bridge barriers and even a cache or few. And there was blisters, sliding down icy grassy hills on our bums (what fun!) and rather a lot of walking. Many thanks to all the cache owners that made this such an amazing trip.

Another oldie cache. Went right down to the river also to get a view of the impressive bridge. Thanks.
Fabulous place to bring me to. Thank you. Wasn’t easy to find, but got it in the end. Tftc
It was promising to be a nice crispy winter's day, so i decided to go out a bit to explore. I have previously avoided stopping here as it seemed too busy to look for a cache. Hardly anyone around today, except a small group who said they were making music there last night, with some members still sleeping all over the show, including the picnic table! TFTC!!
A beautiful sunny winter day in Canterbury so off I went to check some of our caches around Oxford/Rangiora. 175km driven, 15litres of petrol used, 21 caches checked/serviced, 1 cache found - in about 4 hours. There was certainly a gorgeous view today. This one was okay, just put in another log sheet and pencil. Rodney.
Back in New Zealand after an Eight year hiatus. Dwarves 1, 3 and four on our way from Christchurch to Dunedin to visit dwarf 2, via inland rote. Stopped to take a look, knew there had to be a cache here.
Now to repass all the trucks that whizzed by.
Thanks from San Francisco!

A planned geocaching trip with specific targets in mind.
1: The final 2 caches to fill my D/T grid
2: The last 5 caches available (all in the South Island) to meet the NZ Jasmer challenge GC4R9Z6
3: Get as many caches as possible in a day (Solo)
I had no timetable and only a vague route (Christchurch - Dunedin- Invercargill). So after 20 days of sleeping in my tent/car I arrived home having traveled 4500km and visited some interesting places. Met some great people. I had found over 650 caches. That was a lot of park. Jump out out. Find cache sign and return. Then on to the next. All this done by myself. Also attended an event and had 2 FTF
Mission 1 and 2 were achieved and I had a best day of 153 caches. All this done by myself.
Day 16 Glentunnel to Waikari 76 caches found. Parked on the road and walked down. Thank you for the placement

A day of caching with KCN and meeting up with Nosynel later on in the morning who joined in for the rest of the day. A few puzzle caches found, DNFs from 2017 found as well as traditionals here and there mainly to the west of CHch. Thanks to all the COs for placing their caches in a variety of interesting places.
