Spending the day exploring the area with the whanau. Great day out and we also found a few geocaches, signed Team Polak. TFTC!!
Located with Ricardinho Day 2 of our long weekend & plans for today are a drive up the Howard Valley to scope out our hike to the Goldfields & Booths Cottage for tomorrow + head to Lake Rotoroa & explore there & walk the Braeburn Bush walk. I don't think I've ever been to Lake Rotoroa so I was very excited to go. Another mixed bag weather wise, but it didn't stop us from doing anything. The friendly Piwakawaka & the bush walk were highlights of the day RNZ took control of locating this cache, I'm not a fan of fossicking under & around things lol TFTC
A quick find here, and plenty of pullover space. No issues with this cache, thanks for placing nzchasers123.Todays adventure was to head to Lake Rotoroa - somewhere RG72 had not been before. We did a few caches around there, and the Braeburn forest walk to the waterfall. RG got all the caches there, and there was one new one for me on what is my second trip in there. I also was able to find 3 previous DNFs later on down the Braeburn track road. Before doing all this, we got all park and grabs down around Howard while scoping the start of the goldfields walk. That will make the trip in tomorrow quicker if we decide to go there. Weather forecast looks better tomorrow for that walk. Thanks all COs.
It has been a few years since we have been up this valley so having some caches up here was reason enough for us to come for a drive.GK did the honours of finding the cache, and he made quick work of it. The log was signed and returned as he found it. While I wandered along the bridge to see if I could spot any trout or anything else of interest in the river below. Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley
I havent been up this way in years, nice easy find. Thanks nzchasers123

Out on a caching expedition. I was expecting to get wet but thankfully the Met Service got it wrong.
A few logging trucks about. I parked off the road and found that getting under was easier than I first thought. A good hide.

Stopped off here on my way to Louis Creek for some cache maintenance which didn't turn out so well but still a nice drive. No need for any fossicking as I was only interested in the cache and it was just where it should be. Got some sticky stuff on my hands from the cache that in turn had got it from the bridge but easily wiped off. TFTC # 18,744
#21881 ({FTF} #249). As we started our trip south a bunch of new caches was published. My navigation suffered as I tried to work out whether there were any on our route home (missed a turn off to a cache that was "on the list", so we'll have to look for that one on a future trip). By late morning we were approaching Kawatiri Junction, and trying to decide whether to make a detour to look for the two new caches down Howard Valley Rd. Eventually the lure of two new caches proved too much. This one took me a little while to spot, but when I did I was pleased to find a clean log sheet. TFTC.
The notification for this cache and its mate down the road popped up as we were travelling south from Appleby to Chch. After a detour via Tapawera and Tadmor Valley Rd, the FTFs still hadn't been claimed so we decided another detour was needed .
Not an instant find, so was pleased when SW came up with the goods. TFTC.
