Visited the tunnels with Hellshammer19. Very informative and amazing how people managed to survive.

Fortunally, our guide took the right route, so we could go to the koords.
We had a try on the hidden entry, we had a 100 meter journey in the Underground and we tryed a AK 47( very loud Smile )
An interesting and thinkable place, thank you for showing.

6th cache on our holiday. Nice quick find as it is not exactly hidden. Email on way to the owner.

Sometimes the stars align, or we find just enough caches.

Mrs MT had been ill for a few days so we'd not found any in Ho Chi Minh City, however the prospect of tunnels and the possibility of firing off some ordnance was too much to resist.

So alongside Team Falcon once again we found this cache. Why did the stars align? This is our 1500th cache, after quite a break whilst we prepped for a wedding and to be honest, fell out of love with caching the bug is back and we're really pleased to have hit a personal milestone.

Thanks to Team Falcon and others for some great company on a 10 day tour North to South.

Many memories and hopefully some good friendships made.

Fascinating tour of these tunnels, bit too young to actually remember the war but have seen many of the films and to actually "disappear" into the ground and listen to the methods used by the Viet Cong was highly interesting for us. Plus myself and Mrs Rastan got to fire live rounds from a real live AK47 !!!!!
Many thanks to kablooey for placing this one.

Today we visited the very interesting Cu Chi area, and we were lucky: our tour passed the object in question. It also passed many other places which - even though they have been adapted for tourists - gave as a better understanding of what the war was like in this area. Thanks for the cache, favourite point! / Sakletarna of Sweden (#5897)

No time for caching while on a tour to Saigon and Cu Chi off our cruise ship docked at Phu My. However, I made sure my GPSr was on while touring the tunnels complex so that I didn't miss out on this one!

Being of an age where I could have been (and know people who were) part of the Vietnam conflict, our visit to the tunnels today had strong personal significance, and was an experience that I really learnt a lot from. The tunnels complex was an amazing engineering and logistical undertaking and serves to demonstrate very much why the conflict went the way it did.

Thanks very much for placing this cache here kablooey.

Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.

Have emailed the answers to the questions. Interesting place, was great to get the differnet perspective to what they taught at school. Greetings from New Zealand.

Took 2hrs to get there but it was worth it. What an amazing place and how hard it must have been for the people living in those tunnels. Thank you for placing this cache for us to find as well.

That was fun crawling the tunnels. In our group was a form flight attendant who flew in and out troops. She said that it was really hard for her and she was only 21 by that time Sad

Great to experience the ingenuity of the Viet Cong. Stealth Ninja Penguin did an impersonation of a soldier (would love to post the photos Wink but it would give the stealthiness away!).

The satloc was poor under the trees but we worked out the right answer.

Found as part of the Penguins' Asian Assignment.
Thanks for the cache and for the quick response.

What an interesting place to visit! I managed to get myself into the small hole and back out again (one member of our group got herself a bit stuck!)

E-mail has been sent but I'm going from memory so if I'm wrong let me know.

Have taken a tour from HCMC (Saigon), which
was informative. It it sad, that people lead so many wars.
The object at the location was identified quickly.
Thanks for the fast log permit.
Will post pictures of the tour, when back home.
Greetings

Went on a tour to the tunnels. Very interesting but 5 minutes in a tunnel was enough for me!

Well we did the tour thing and caught a bus out to the tunnels from Ho Chi Minh City. Its an interesting tour, and always impressive the way that the Vietnamese people make best use of the tools & resources at hand. When it came to trying the tunnels themselves, I did it Viet style, squatting on my haunches and shuffling forward, but was soaked with sweat after only 20 metres - that's good exercise!

Thanks to Kablooey for the cache, and for the quick reply to my email!

How exciting to be caching in Vietnam. It was great to do the tour of Cu Chi tunnels. Was impressed with how extensive they were and creative ways of dispersing smoke. Was raining on the day we visited as the country prepared for a typhoon, but we still managed to see it all. Neither of us went into the tunnels, Mrs S is claustrophobi and Mr S couldn't bend over far enough with his back. The rest of our group went through the first 30m but only one enjoyed it. What an experience, can't imagine living down there.
A good reminder of the futility of war. Thanks kablooey for the opportunity to get our gps out in Vietnam.

Another great Vietnam virtual. I had to wait for ages to get the date on this object due to the hordes of Korean tourists continually climbing on and off it to get their photos taken.
Anyone who goes there has to do the 90m walk through the tunnels - a bit spooky in the dark and damn hot to boot.

What a great trip. My wife and I took a half day tour with Saigon Tourist to Cu Chi Tunnels. This is on the tourist track so you won't have trouble finding it. If you don't want any help, DON'T look at the photos on the logs. Thank you for another great cache Kablooey.

PS If you intend to walk through the tunnels, wear you dirtiest clothes that day.
