Short Trip Away Day #3 [25/11] of 3Day three of my holidays (and day #3 of 3 for my trip away) saw me leaving the motel early to start the day. I started by heading over to Fyshwick for a couple of caches over there. For nice easy-ish ones. Three in the Fyshwick Forrest and one over in the park next to Maryborough St. After finding those ones, I headed over to Belconnen to find a couple of others and then onto the Mall for lunch. While at the Mall, I also did a game of 10 pin bowling because why not? I got a score of 120. Big Grin Once I finished up in the Mall, I started making my way home. I found the next lot of power trail caches along Dog Trap Rd. I have decided on doing these caches section by section given, I drive past/through here so much. From there, I headed home while finding one more in Binalong before getting home. It was a great weekend away and I quite enjoyed catching up with everyone. TB visit. Some caches were signed as JM. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. Big Grin TFTCs! Big Grin One last quick find before heading over to the mall. Thanks. Big Grin

Mega is finished, and we, Q3, have a few days caching before heading home to QLD. This is our penultimate day and we are still chasing suburbs this afternoon as the rains have kept us indoors (plus shopping) this morning. I am growing to like these Watch Sports caches. Now that's a worry! Log signed and cache replaced as found on April 6, 2024. TFTC, Groot_1983

Massive caching days continue. My online logs do not match with days found simply because I cant keep up with online logging sorry. My alliance of 5 all from WA are three young fit boys and two less young ladies who try to keep them honest. We have been up trees and ladders way more than I like and, like all geocachers who insist on wearing shorts in hot weather, our legs are ripped to shreds from hiking. Logging WAC since the three boys usually cache with a fourth called the Cockburn Crew based on their LGA. Having an almost totally cleared map locally, its difficult to explain the excitement of having a map that has caches literally everywhere. Ive cached in Canberra once with my partner and also at the Queanbayen mega but theres still so many to find. Long days and during the few hours allocated to sleep Im so sore I barely sleep anyway. Thanks so much for your contribution to making the days so exhausting and enjoyable. Much appreciated!

Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers Groot_1983! Big GrinJoin us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!

The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 2 and we had an absolute blast. After being up late last night we backed it up again this morning with an early start to make the most of the cooler weather and lack of muggles in the morning cold. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed the large number of virtuals, and caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some of the oldest caches in Australia, some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WAC (WA Crew)

Cache 10932 on 3 Feb 2024. Wanted a quick find this morning on my out of Canberra and this one looked like it would do the trick. Parked nearby and wandered over, glad the coordinates were not pointing me over the fence. A previous log mentioned accurate coordinates, and so they were. Found on a second pass, quite obvious when I spotted it! Hoping to get three countries in one day by a quirk of the international date line! Fingers crossed. Thanks Groot_1983 for the cache and the fun!

4th 10An easy find but a longer retrieve as, at my age, certain latitudes are better than others. So upon returning to normal posture a couple of bendy bits had a vegetative crust that needed to we wiped off. By the time I reached here there was no rain. I got a wet back though from dripping vegetation with this find. Decrypter arrived to join in the caching. Cache and log are good. TFTC Groot_1983.

I was nearby and decided to go for a walk and attempt this cache. There were people playing tennis at the nearby courts. I arrived at GZ and started my search. There were a few likely spots and my unit kept wavering as to where GZ was. After some minutes I spotted something different, which turned out to be the hidden hide. Log retrieved and signed and all replaced and I headed back. TFTC.

Things have cooled down a little for this week and the outlook is wet, so I headed off early in the morning to find my days target caches. The day started with a walk over Gossan Hill for three caches including an Earth cache on the summit. Next was a cache down by Belconnen way. I missed a final for a long multi that has been in progress for some time, so had to finish with another suburban traditional cache.

After a DNF, I was looking around for another option and saw this one that I have been leaving. Today I made my way down to the car park and despite the courts being full of players, there was room. I walked over to GZ and looked around until I changed targets and found this cache where it blends in very well.

Thanks for the cache Dragon 1982

After a meeting over dinner at the Southern Cross Club in Jamison I was still in need of a caching fix.

This was close. It helped that the nearby tennis courts were lit with a lot of activity, but there were lots of free car parks.

Quick find with minimal use of my torch.

I am very happy to have found another of this series.

29,834. Found with minniek during another Canberra caching run.

We found a sneaky little car park to - um - park the car in, and walked the short distance to GZ for a nice quick find. Many (MANY) years ago I played sport on this oval ! Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next cache on our list.

Thanks Dragon 1982 !! Keep them coming !

Signed the log and then watched the cricket match being played on the oval. TFTC.

#17114 - 7:06:00 AM; Well, Christmas morning has arrived and before the festivities commence, it was time to head out for a few caches to top up the tally and inch closer to some 366 day challenges I've been working on for some time. Managed five from six on the list today, including this one, which was found in good order. Accurate coords and the cache was soon located. Replaced as found after signing the log. After finding all the caches I planned to, decided I might as well go for another one. No issues here, all very smooth. Thanks for the fun!

I was supposed to find this cache whilst attending Kittykatch's event which was literally just down the road from here, which I was at for 2+ hours! However I was running late to it on my way, and then completely forgot as I was leaving... doh!

So today I was in Belconnen again and decided to swing past, as it stuck out like a sore thumb on my map!

Been to this carpark hundreds of times, my family is big on tennis and this is my Mum's club of choice. I used to come here at least once a week back when I was younger. Stopped coming here many, many years ago now however... but it is still fresh in my mind. Would spend hours here whilst waiting for my parents to play in tournaments and such!

Never really been across this other side though to the oval! So was good to explore today. Wandered over and spent a couple minutes searching the wrong objects before spotting the cache quickly soon after. Great coordinates helped!

Thanks for the hide!

07-Dec-22
A quick muggle free find. Glad we picked the correct side of the fence to be on for this one, as otherwise it would have been a much longer walk! This particular hide offered a decent location to previous Watch Sports caches we have found, but it was still a nice one. There was a distinct lack of sporting activity here today … nonetheless, with the log signed and snugly tucked back in, we were off once again. TFTC Dragon1982!

Found on an afternoon of caching before the Community Celebration event. Even though I have driven past here countless times, I didn't even compute that this car park would exist. A pretty quick find at GZ. TFTC D1982!
