Day 3 of my whirlwind visit to New Zealand.Today I teamed up with barb2e, SmittenGranny, Joolay, Kittykatch, GrimRaider and Icybeetas. We signed the caches as ACD (Australian Cachers in Dunedin) and went out on the Otago Peninsula. We had done a lot of puzzle solving in the months up to the GeoToroa Mega.Today's weather was variable and not as wet as yesterday.TFTC
At last, the day of the Dunedin Mega dawned, and most of the Aussie crew from Canberra met up early this morning. After enjoying friends' old and new company, we completed the Gadget caches. Then it was off to finish the Albatross series, which we had worked on for weeks in preparation for our visit, as well as a few other targeted caches along the way.Thankfully, the weather was much kinder to us today, and to cap it all off, we found every cache we tried for. Please excuse the generic logs. The caches were all great and in excellent condition, especially considering the weather that Dunedin has been experiencing. All caches were signed as ACD, Australian Cachers in Dunedin, which included Isopeda, barb2e, Kittykatch, Joolay, Grimraider, Icybeetas and myself. After signing duties were completed, the caches were rehidden where found. All COs are to be congratulated on their contributions to our game. Thanks for the cache.
Out on a rainy Sunday with Nosynel and MacPacMum. I was fading by now. 60 or so caches today with no breaks plus driving so no memory much about this hide. Thanks for the puzzle and cache.#10808
Collecting solved puzzles and completed challenges on a hill route into the city. Down for the mega. Please excuse the generic log. Thanks for placing each and every on of your caches, including those I can't solve or can't find.
Armstrong Disappearing Gun (Otago)Dunedin MEGA Sunday! More great caches to be found while exploring the beautiful Dunedin. Joining forces with some Queensland comrades, we hit the road, collecting great caches along the way. Signing our logs QLD + 1 to save room, we were pleased to see most of the caches had been recently maintained and enjoyed a great variety of hides and types.A massive thank you to all of the COs for the preparation, placement and maintenance of these caches. TFTC Wilbywarrior# 10655CheersWillis007
Out and about with Willis007 and other members of the group QLD+1 finding solved puzzles and multis plus other targeted caches. Logbook signed and replaced as found. We loved our drive around here. Tftc
Macpacmum, Jude E and I have been having a fantastic day looking for all these mysteries. Solving most of them was fun too thanks so much.
We searched on the wrong side of the road at first, going too deep into the bushes. Then we spotted the much more easily accessible host. TFTC!
This cache cause a slight issue but we got there in the end. Found with Gazania Rigens and Zouavesauvage. Thanks.

We are visiting in Dunedin for the Mega and have targeted certain caches for us and this is one of them out of many so the generic logs TFTC
We came down to Dunedin for the great Mega event - which was really good ! - and had previously solved all of the Albatross caches - with a lot of assistance - and had had several days either side , for caching up either side of the harbour and other caches around about . It was a shame that the High cliff road has been subject to the weather patterns and heavy rain and blocked the road . T he Weather either side of the mega was reasonable, but both the saturday and the sunday were rather wet . . sadly. there are so many caches all around this area so even after 5-6 days of caching there are still hundreds of caches to be found . With so many caches some get lost in a bit of a fog . We took nothing and left nothing here . Thank you for this cache .
In Dunedin for the Labour Weekend mega with JustlookingOO and ThatDarnBear, who did all the driving. We'd solved the enjoyable Albatross puzzles in preparation for the weekend, some easier than others! This puzzle was not quite what it appeared to be.Cache found as per the hint and returned so that it couldn't be seen. Most logs today signed as Team Trio for the three of us.Thanks for the cache!
Out with woolwood9 heading to the MEGA in Dunedin.Tomorrows weather looked really bad so we tried to get some of the Albatross series after finding quite a few of the Airplane geo-art series today.SL *tm/ww NZ* or tm/ww or with one of the groups we met at many of the caches. We enjoyed the drive / walk around! ????*Thanks for the fun puzzle cache geo-art Wilbywarrior* ??
Talla64 and I are down from Kapiti attending the Mega. I suggested we do the Albatross geo-art series while we are down here, and Talla thought it a good idea. The puzzles are great and fun to solve, although I needed help with 2 or 3 of them. I apologise for this generic log but would like to thank Willbywarrior for this great series which took us to some beautiful areas in Dunedin. In fact plans are afoot to return next year as there is so much to see, and the 5 days we spent here were simply not enough. The Mega was a very successful event which Talla and I enjoyed very much. Thank you Wilbywarrior for everything. Logs were mostly signed FD/T64 (or T64/FD)
tmann421 and I are on our way south to attend the MEGA, picking up a few caches on the way.We enjoyed all the caches found and thank the cache owners for their efforts in maintaining these for us to findLog signed tm/ww NZTFTC
Cache was a very quick find and I was caching on the Peninsula with Busypaws
Nice esy find on a great day in the area with LW. TFTC and the puzzle, Interesting.
I think the stump has gone the way of the gun. Trecked back and forth through the bush for 15 mins and spied only 1 small stamp that didn't hold the cache!
**88/22/100pt** Clockwise tail Albatross geoart We had fun solving the cache, noice twist. I seem to recall a berry cache up here but it had gone missing some time ago. Wery steep and legged it uphill. Good to find a small pot every now and then but you have to rely on the neighbour to supply enough duff to cover the cache in hide. RITR trimmed to fit shaped log booklet in reg mini. Generic green pencil. Dry & ok, TNLN leaving the swag bag in town car down below and too many micros. Picked a noice quiet area across the road to sit down and sign the logbook We haven't been to the gun yet, too far away from our saturation area and once the heads are cleaned out, there's no going back over old ground if some new cache pops up. We have a lifetime to do them and so much exploring to do. Last Dragonzone boxing discipline to claim as the game draws to a close. As the only NZ'r in the game, kept getting bumped down the leader board but had been fun playing. Whoo hoo back on leader table 15th position 199.00pt 14 disciplines. I gave boxing a go and gave someone a black eye and a glass jaw with my right hook. *80mt offset* TFTC WW
About six weeks ago I came down to Dunedin for the first time since the last time I was here, and while I was here I noticed a puzzle geocache that hadn't ever been found, for over a year. So once I was back home I solved the puzzle and came down again this weekend to find it.Once that was done, I went off and found some more geocaches. Specifically those that made up the Albatross geoart, and I managed to find all of them. It was an excellent day's caching that I enjoyed very much. Especially good was the almost always spot on coordinates, good parking at most locations, and usually useful hints for those tricky hides (except the fake rock one, that wasn't so helpful). All good here, the cache was found safe and well.---Thanks to Wilbywarrior for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.
I headed out to Portobello this morning to find a cache or two before my flight home. Not too worried if a few go unfound, there's always later in the year to round up what I don't get to this trip. TFTC
Trouve ! / Found it ! 4917me cache trouve.Merci Wilbywarrior pour la cache 4917th cache found.Thank you Wilbywarrior for the cache
When planing our vacation in NZ we spotted this nice Albatross Geoart. There still has been enough time to solve most of them but it has been quickly clear: we cannot visit them all. Time constraints did not permit that.Wilbywarrior recommended to take the peninsula side and this has been a very good advise. We have seen so many beautiful places and views from different angles. This was really great! And we found all (!) caches from our todo list on this side. Many thanks for this fun. We would love to come back again and complete the albatross but as well to further discover this nice place in and around Dunedin. Many thanks for the cache.
Luckily not so much traffic here - so we were able to enjoy the view and the bird's singing. Thank you for the Cache!
An easy puzzle to solve, and and easy find at GZ, although it wasn't covered with anything, and not enough grass etc to cover it up again afterwards.
Out clearing some the near to home caches.Nice morning with occasional rain.Solved last year but only got around to find it today.TFTC
I thought that today's exercise would be to sign off some of the Albatross Series on the Southern side of the harbour.I hope this doesn't go missing.Cheers for the cache, Wilbywarrior.
Oh bother - my watch was showing the 9th, but it is Sunday 10th today. Apologies! We responded to a geocaching TOTT SOS, as the CO will know! And detoured to this cache on the way back. A much less stressful hide than the previous one in the area, which happened to be on private property... we've been to the disappearing gun at Taiaroa Head and also the one at North Head in Auckland. That one isn't able to raise and lower any more, but it is free to get to.
Out and about on day 9 of my South Island Tour and day 3 of "Wellingtonions Gone South: Dunedin Edition" with NZ_B, TwigNZ, Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020 and matagouri. The target of this day was cleaning up some of the peninsula. All logs signed as MINT. TFTC
(# 8328) The Wellington crew are on another mission. Included are Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, TwigNZ, Matagouri and TaybeeNZ. As usual quite a bit of hilarity. Day 3 was more centred on the Albatross series around the peninsula. I remember seeing the gun up a Taiaroa Head a few years ago. Signed as MINT.Thanks Wilbywarrior for bringing me here.
A visit to Dunedin by Wellington geocachers NZ_B, Itchyfeet2020, TwigNZ, Mr-Mcgoo, Taybee NZ, and myself. Signing as Team MINT, targeting old caches, Wherigos, and whatever else we can find.Today, we were focusing on the Albatross series. Most of these have been pre-solved, so simply a case of finding. Most of these were simple finds in easy-to-reach locations. There were no problems with missing logs or maintenance required, although one or two took some extraction from the hiding place! Thanks for the series, WilbyWarrior!
A group of friends have traveled together to Dunedin to collectively target a whole bunch of caches, primarily because of their value in terms of Jasmer Grid filling, or for certain Challenge Caches that we have elected to try to achieve.M.M.I.N.T.T are Mr-Mcgoo, matagouri, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, taybee nz and TwigNZ. Some logs were signed this way, some were signed as M.I.N.T for expediency, and some (mainly Challenge Caches) were signed with individual names.Day 3, and the main focus of our day would be hitting the Otago Peninsula where we hoped to find many of the Albatross Geoart series, especially the Challenge Caches.Another quick find at GZ, made by Itchyfeet. All was fine with this cache and contents, and we soon added the team name into the log before replacing it all as found.Thank you for setting up this series for all to find.
I was intrigued by the title of the cache and so searched for it on Goggle. And what at interesting site [Fort Taiaroa Tours](https://albatross.org.nz/fort-taiaroa-tours/) this was. And now I understand why it was called the disappearing gun. Sadly, we didnt have time to visit the museum today. Favourite given for the interersting topic.Day 3 of The Wellingtonians are in Dunedin tour with TwigNZ, Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020 and matagouri, as well as TaybeeNZ who decided to have a few days of his South Island tour with us. We are targeting specific caches -oldies, wherigos (thanks to the Seagnoids new caches on the Wainuiomata Hill road in Lower Hutt), a certain jet and hopefully a certain bird. Of course, there will be days of laughter, no doubt at my expense During our time here, all found caches were signed as MINT, regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 5 of us hadn't found it previously, or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.Kia ora rawa atu for the cache Wilbywarrior.
Day 3 of our Dunedin Invasion with six welly cachers. We have lots of plans and caches to find - probably to many - but with many of the very targeted oldies now done, day 3 can be a bit more play. Today is the peninsula. NZ_B got me right opposite the car door. It was very close to doing a Barb. 2m from car, a quick learn out and it was done! All logs signed as MINT.
MrMagoo72 and I made a slight detour on our way home today, to find this cache. I've enjoyed the jigsaws, though have no idea how some folk solve them so quickly! Nice easy find, after reading the hint. The cache was so well-hidden that we could easily have overlooked it. TFTC.
What a great day in Dunedin, gabbing a few caches around the the place, 100% today no DNF, most unusual. Many Thanks - Bitsprayer
Parked at the bottom and walked up. Steep. Was checking hint as I was reaching in.
Having just sneaked past (as in breath in, there isn't much room) a rubbish truck and with very little parking at GZ, I jumped out to make the find while Spoonz2 remained in the car - ready for 'a quick getaway' should another car need to get past. Thankfully it was a quick find and I was back in the car and we were away without seeing another vehicle (or person). Found with Spoonz2
We had collected a few solves in the area and this was one to get today. Parking is a challenge here, so I stayed in the car ready to move it in a hurry while Debsnz made the find. Teamwork.
Solved these puzzles at home and came down to Dunedin for a train trip to Oamaru yesterday. Today exploring the Pyramids and waterside views coming back. Sure have been to lots of new places finding these awesome puzzles. Now back to accommodation as we have run out of daylight and energy. Thanks for this puzzle and the cache Wilbywarrior.
An easy find once I found somewhere to park. TFTC and puzzle. I’ve seen these guns elsewhere.
Tight parking! Pulled away having found the cache and there was a bang and a rumble on the car roof and something shot past the window and tumbled down the road before stopping, literally, at the feet of a walker. Yep, my GPS receiver which I had put on the roof of the car while signing the log and forgotten to retrieve before driving off. Fortunately it appears no damage was done. TFTC.
