Found on a trip down south to the Dunedin Mega with trayc.gsigned as MrMuggle or MM to save room..Thanks to the COs for all your caches. We had a blast. TFTC
Back home in Taranaki after a massive 5 days at the Dunedin Mega with MrMuggleNZ and its time to start logging my findsall 226 of themso wish me luck. Only 2 DNFs the whole time we were here so thats a testament to the dedication of the local cache owners and their maintenance prior to this event. Day 4I worked on this over a couple of nights from home and was blown away when I got the green tick on the first go because the info you need is hard to come by and I wasnt 100 percent sure I even had the correct numbers. I couldnt even find 2 of the bus stops so just guessed them so you can imagine my surprise. Cool idea! A fitting hide for the puzzle too. FP for my favourite puzzle in this seriesyes that was me that came and asked you about this one at Mega. I didnt even realise it was part of this series as my memory had faded a little. I was looking for a multi on the map..Doh!
Weather still grey, rainy and cold.Day 6 and more picking up with isopeda, Icybeetas, Kittykatch, Smittengranny, Grimraider and barb2e. Signing as ACD-Aussie Cachers Dunedin, or names. Mega Day.Finally back in NZ and this time for a Mega. Starting in Christchurch before heading south. Lots to see and do with Kittykatch and Grimraider. Will be joining with others as the days go on.Thanks for getting me out and about Wilbywarrior
27 October 2024 1:07pm Nice to see some of thrse bus stops in real life, rather than on Google Maps. Bus stopped for us while we were here! TFT GA Wilbywarrior # 4268
We passed many of these bus shelters today. It was fun recognizing the ones on this puzzle ?? I like the cartoon ones the best.
Out on a rainy Sunday with Nosynel and MacPacMum. What a cool dude this guy was. I enjoyed reading about him. I enjoyed seeing all the interesting painted bus stops on our journey today. Thanks for the puzzle and hide. And of course great placement for the hide really!#10793
Day 3 of my whirlwind visit to New Zealand.Today I teamed up with barb2e, SmittenGranny, Joolay, Kittykatch, GrimRaider and Icybeetas. We signed the caches as ACD (Australian Cachers in Dunedin) and went out on the Otago Peninsula. We had done a lot of puzzle solving in the months up to the GeoToroa Mega.Today's weather was variable and not as wet as yesterday. This, and the other B.ART puzzles are such great puzzles. I had fun solving these. I organised a bus map and went along all the lines to collect the answers. Today, as I was signing the cache, a car with Chooknchunk (sorry for the misspelling) and others rocked up and we signed it together. I would give this more than one FP if I could.TFTC
Today is an exciting day for us and chooknchunk attending our first mega overseas and touring Dunedin chasing as many caches as we could, trying to keep as dry as possible on this wet day.Chook solved this one for us and it turned out to be a quick pick up as another cacher was already here. Thanks Wilbywarrior for the mystery placement.
Day 6 of our NZ mega mega holiday with The_Tritonz: Finally made it to Dunedin and the Mega Event. We started planning our trip over here well over 6 months ago. Back then Chook got to work on the geoart puzzles. This one in particular stick out as she had spent many hours going up and down these roads on street view, eventually identifying all bus stops and then researching all the numbers to finally get the green tick.Fast forward to today and completing the geoart was no longer on our agenda due simply to time restrictions. However this one was one to sign as Chook had been enjoying finally seeing these roads she 'knew so well', even though she had never been here before. TFTC and puzzle WilbyWarrior.
B.ART Intermediate (Otago)Dunedin MEGA Sunday! More great caches to be found while exploring the beautiful Dunedin. Joining forces with some Queensland comrades, we hit the road, collecting great caches along the way. Signing our logs QLD + 1 to save room, we were pleased to see most of the caches had been recently maintained and enjoyed a great variety of hides and types.A massive thank you to all of the COs for the preparation, placement and maintenance of these caches. TFTC Wilbywarrior# 10651CheersWillis007
Out and about with Willis007 and other members of the group QLD+1 finding solved puzzles and multis plus other targeted caches. Logbook signed and replaced as found. We loved our drive around here. Tftc
Still more rain today so I started with an Ad / Lab in the city before looking at the gadget caches. The cache was found and the log was signed as ACD for Aussie Cachers Dunedin and including Icybeetas, Joolay, Kittykatch, GrimRaider, Smittengranny isopedia and barb2e.
Dunedin MegaOut caching with GrimRaider, barb2e, Smittengranny, isopeda, icybeetas and Joolay. Signing as Aussie Cachers Dunedin (ACD). GrimRaider, Joolay and I are in NZ for the Dunedin mega event. It is great to be back to see more of this beautiful country. Thanks for hiding this cache Wilbywarrior
Day 3 of our stay in Dunedin for the Mega and the rain is persisting this morning. Headed to the Mega to look at the gadget caches before braving the rain to finish of the Albatross puzzles plus any other targeted caches on our list. Signing as ACD today for Aussie Cachers Dunedin and including Icybeetas, Joolay, Kittykatch, GrimRaider, Smittengranny and isopeda. Tftc
Special thanks to Isopeda for her efforts in solving this one at home.At last, the day of the Dunedin Mega dawned, and most of the Aussie crew from Canberra met up early this morning. After enjoying friends' old and new company, we completed the Gadget caches. Then it was off to finish the Albatross series, which we had worked on for weeks in preparation for our visit, as well as a few other targeted caches along the way.Thankfully, the weather was much kinder to us today, and to cap it all off, we found every cache we tried for. Please excuse the generic logs. The caches were all great and in excellent condition, especially considering the weather that Dunedin has been experiencing. All caches were signed as ACD, Australian Cachers in Dunedin, which included Isopeda, barb2e, Kittykatch, Joolay, Grimraider, Icybeetas and myself. After signing duties were completed, the caches were rehidden where found. All COs are to be congratulated on their contributions to our game. Thanks for the cache.
Day two of the MEGA, and matagouri and I have teamed up with watcache to explore the otago peninsula and get as many caches as we could, while braving the bitter cold rain and wind.Despite the weather we had a lot of fun. Thanks to all the CO's for setting up and maintaining these caches. We signed the log as watratmat
In support of Juty Bug attempting 10 geocache types in a day for a Challenge, we've come out here. This is one of the many puzzles we solved before coming to the Mega. Love the artwork on the shelters.Followed the 'elephant trail' to locate this one TFTC
Down in Dunedin for the Mega. Great to be back for another Mega 12 years after NZ's first Mega here in 2012. Finding a few caches with Boxhill and having a few laughs on the way. Thanks to the team for putting on a great Mega weekend, and also to all the COs for placing and maintaining the caches.TFTC Wilbywarrior
16:15FITW ObnoxiousSpaceCat, DimepodoreI quite enjoyed solving this from Christchurch. Driving down in Streetview and looking for bus stops. I found most of them, only two eluded me. And those two were part of a single digit in the coordinates, so wasn't hard to figure that out with the checker.Well, it wasn't all quite that easy. Even when I saw some of the needed stops, I didn't always spot the part of the artwork needed, and moved on. Only on second or third virtual drive down Portabello, and zooming in the images from different angles, I noticed small parts of the needed and figured that it must be what I was looking for.Stopped for the final today, coming back from Taiaroa head to the mega CITO event. The find took us a few minutes too. Because of the weather, we concentrated our search on the inside a bit too much, before finally moving to outside and locating the nano.Kia ora! ???? Paldies! ????Thanks for the cache, Wilbywarrior!#11478
Day 1 of Mega caching! Started with an event, then some albatross puzzles (and anything else we spied on our way), and finally a very wet CITO! A lot of fun had in spite of the weather. TFTC!
Found in the rainLog signed as wat, rat, matThanks for the placement and the smiley Watcache, rattl, matagouri
Day one - Geo Toroa DunedinWith Queensland buddies, Snickersallan, chamad and WollastonSolved prior to arrival to NZSigned log as QLD+1Thanks for creating and placing for our enjoyment
Outnabout with Chamad, Snickersallan, Ardom & Bluewattle on my first ever trip across the ditch. Log signed as QLD+1 to save some space. After a week of caching around Brisbane and at events last month with other Geo friends, I couldnt pass up the opportunity to hop on board for a NZ Mega adventure. Another great day for caching. TFTC Wilbywarrior
Nice puzzle, ivssxx did the solve on that one. Container found, signed with initials and replaced.
Found with ivss_xx and dimepodore. Just a minute of searching and we found the wee thing.
We are visiting in Dunedin for the Mega and have targeted certain caches for us and this is one of them out of many so the generic logs TFTC
This morning's task was to sign off the rest of the Albatross series doing my remaining 5 on the southern coast of the harbour.I made the wrong turnoff so I ended up going for this one first. This one took a while to find as the sun was in my eyes. (That;s my excuse and I'm sticking with it.)Cheers for the cache, Wilbywarrior.
In Dunedin to attend the Mega this weekend, travelling with TrinityNZ and JustLookingOO.Today's itinerary includes all the albatross solves located on the peninsula. We also had a few must-do's on the list. The ladies left this one for me to find, as I was the one who solved the sneaky puzzle which we had spent quite some time on. Thanks for setting this series up! ?? Logs today signed as 'Team Trio', TT on nano logs, and names in full on challenge caches.
We came down to Dunedin for the great Mega event - which was really good ! - and had previously solved all of the Albatross caches - with a lot of assistance - and had had several days either side , for caching up either side of the harbour and other caches around about . It was a shame that the High cliff road has been subject to the weather patterns and heavy rain and blocked the road . T he Weather either side of the mega was reasonable, but both the saturday and the sunday were rather wet . . sadly. there are so many caches all around this area so even after 5-6 days of caching there are still hundreds of caches to be found . With so many caches some get lost in a bit of a fog . We took nothing and left nothing here . Thank you for this cache .
In Dunedin for the Labour Weekend mega with JustlookingOO and ThatDarnBear, who did all the driving. We'd solved the enjoyable Albatross puzzles in preparation for the weekend, some easier than others! This one we found a bit harder, not being in the area, so it was one of the last we solved. ThatDarnBear made the breakthrough that got the correct coordinates. She also made the find today after trying a couple of places that fitted the hint. Most logs today signed as Team Trio for the three of us.Thanks for the cache!
Out enjoying some caching today. This one took us for ever to find, both brushed over it. Kept looking repeat area then found sneaky cache. Happy to sign log here. Enjoyed solving these puzzles before our trip down. Thanks for the puzzle and cache Wilbywarrior.
Day 10 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc. We arrived in Dunedin yesterday and today we hired bikes to ride the Otago Vine including a ferry ride across the bay.We managed to collect a lot of the puzzles we had prepared for and I think we only had a couple of DNFs. It rained, the sun shone, the wind blew, it was calm - the whole gamut really. We enjoyed spotting the different art works in the bus shelters along here. Thanks for contributing to the fun Wilbywarrior
Day ten of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris. We have at last arrived in Dunedin. We spent today riding the Otago Vine clockwise, collecting caches as we came across them.Stopped at Port Chalmers for lunch then caught the ferry to Portobello.Mostly a nice day except for a bit of rain just out of Portobello (but we soon dried off). There were many interesting bus stops on the ride today. This one we looked a bit closer than all the rest.I liked the Wallace & Gromit one best. Thanks, Robmc.
These bus stops are iconic. John Noakes was kept busy, using the names of the Bays as themes. Also good to notice that there is entertainment for the waiting bus passengers: what a great idea. Found with Debsnz.
We are so lucky to have such wonderful fun art on our bus stops. This one took some time to gather all the numbers required and it's been sitting in my 'to find' pile for a while. Driving past and thought it a good time to stop as there was no one about. Found quickly with Spoonz2 in the first place that I looked.
**76/10/100pt** Clockwise on wing Albatross geoart Having nailed the premium only multi so easily, I knew what to look for solving this puzzle. What couldn't be gleamed from sources was spotted on regular walks so the tricky one is quite easy when you track it down or you might have to have peeps point it out to you along with being handed the micro when you almost log a DNF. Hunting down the micro was made easy depending on what time of day it was so probably using notes from someone's shared PQ isn't such a good idea and you just need to go there and look. I have found premium only caches just like this as a basic member as well as solving the multi locked to non-premium members. Make the most of these mysteries before they all get replaced with metal monsters with only one hiding place for mint tins. Some of the new ones do have historic photos where they haven't been vandalised. TFTC WW
About six weeks ago I came down to Dunedin for the first time since the last time I was here, and while I was here I noticed a puzzle geocache that hadn't ever been found, for over a year. So once I was back home I solved the puzzle and came down again this weekend to find it.Once that was done, I went off and found some more geocaches. Specifically those that made up the Albatross geoart, and I managed to find all of them. It was an excellent day's caching that I enjoyed very much. Especially good was the almost always spot on coordinates, good parking at most locations, and usually useful hints for those tricky hides (except the fake rock one, that wasn't so helpful). All good here, the cache was found safe and well.---Thanks to Wilbywarrior for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.
I headed out to Portobello this morning to find a cache or two before my flight home. Not too worried if a few go unfound, there's always later in the year to round up what I don't get to this trip. I enjoyed solving this one. A tricky little blighter to find. TFTC
John Noakes' murals were wonderful - excellent craftmanship and appropriate choice of subjects - ideal public art!We did actual bus stop visits here - some still have the ORC numbers on them but then had to find the Orbus contractor's system. Fortunately was with KatieW when she found the cache... otherwise I know it would've been a DNF. CO can expect two fake date logs sometime...
Out on a cyclocache ride up the cyclepath from Andersons Bay to Portobello and back. Had the checker's approval but the hide was too good for me. [xx(]
We have always admired these artworks, but while the theory of the cache seemed fine, apart from the confusing use of route instead of root, we were quite unable to find the required numbers on several of the bus shelters. With a bit of manipulation, we managed to come up with the correct coordinates, and today the cache was a quick easy find. TFTC
Out and about on day 9 of my South Island Tour and day 3 of "Wellingtonions Gone South: Dunedin Edition" with NZ_B, TwigNZ, Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020 and matagouri. The target of this day was cleaning up some of the peninsula. All logs signed as MINT. TFTC
A visit to Dunedin by Wellington geocachers NZ_B, Itchyfeet2020, TwigNZ, Mr-Mcgoo, Taybee NZ, and myself. Signing as Team MINT, targeting old caches, Wherigos, and whatever else we can find.Today, we were focusing on the Albatross series. Most of these have been pre-solved, so simply a case of finding. Most of these were simple finds in easy-to-reach locations. There were no problems with missing logs or maintenance required, although one or two took some extraction from the hiding place! Thanks for the series, WilbyWarrior!
A group of friends have traveled together to Dunedin to collectively target a whole bunch of caches, primarily because of their value in terms of Jasmer Grid filling, or for certain Challenge Caches that we have elected to try to achieve.M.M.I.N.T.T are Mr-Mcgoo, matagouri, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, taybee nz and TwigNZ. Some logs were signed this way, some were signed as M.I.N.T for expediency, and some (mainly Challenge Caches) were signed with individual names.Day 3, and the main focus of our day would be hitting the Otago Peninsula where we hoped to find many of the Albatross Geoart series, especially the Challenge Caches. This one had us all searching around at GZ. We had (incorrectly) guessed at where it would be hidden based on similar hide locations from our neck of the woods. But Mr-Mcgoo eventually made the find. I'm sure his extra height had something to do with it lol!No issues with container or contents, and the log soon had our team name in it.Thank you for putting out this one for all to find.
(# 8346) The Wellington crew are on another mission. Included are Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, TwigNZ, Matagouri and TaybeeNZ. As usual quite a bit of hilarity. Day 3 was more centred on the Albatross series around the peninsula. A fun puzzle. Signed as MINT.Thanks Wilbywarrior for bringing me here.
Another research puzzle to solve. I do like this art appearing around NZ on bus stops, broad band boxes, etc making something plain interesting and beautiful.Day 3 of The Wellingtonians are in Dunedin tour with TwigNZ, Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020 and matagouri, as well as TaybeeNZ who decided to have a few days of his South Island tour with us. We are targeting specific caches -oldies, wherigos (thanks to the Seagnoids new caches on the Wainuiomata Hill road in Lower Hutt), a certain jet and hopefully a certain bird. Of course, there will be days of laughter, no doubt at my expense During our time here, all found caches were signed as MINT, regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 5 of us hadn't found it previously, or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.Kia ora rawa atu for the cache Wilbywarrior.
Day 3 of our Dunedin Invasion with six welly cachers. We have lots of plans and caches to find - probably too many - but with many of the very targeted oldies now done, day 3 can be a bit more play. This was a great final spot for this fun puzzle - a few pairs of eyes were needed. All logs signed as MINT. An easy FAV.
Tried to complete this when I was out this way about 10 days ago, missed a few stops, but got the numbers in the end with the help of an online tool - which has just been updated I see! Very well hidden. Took me awhile to spot it. Tftc.
Had visited all the bus stops on an earlier trip, so all that remained was to find the container and sign the log. i-gotit did the honours, well hidden and at full stretch.

After a recent tramping trip, we stopped at every bus stop on the way back to town and worked out the maths when we got home.
Did the honors on this one, finding the tiny blighter far above my head height. Thanks for an enjoyable cache.

I remember the last cache based on the shelters along Portobello Road. Would have been around a decade ago. Where has the time gone? Tricky to spot the cache even in broad daylight. Missed on the first sweep but picked it up on the second. Dark little hiding place and a black micro - nasty! Thoroughly enjoyable cache - have a fav point. Looking forward to the CO's other Bus Art caches as alluded to on the page. TFTC.
Managed to get the green tick with virtual visits (and a bit of deduction) only. Pleasant evening down this way.
{*FTF*} I checked out the art on the bus shelters on my way home from geocaching yesterday, and once I found the right web page, managed to get some coordinates and the green tick. Finding the cache in the half light this morning was a bit tricky until I turned my torch on!
I really enjoyed doing this puzzle and getting the FTF; the bus shelter art is amazing. Much more fun to check out the shelters in the real world rather than the virtual one - some of the art is not visible from the front.
TFTC and the puzzle.

Solved without getting on bike or in my car. Added it to the list of the other geoart caches that need collecting.
