A new morning, and what a beauty! Loving driving around Dunedin in my little Yaris. My first time last night staying in an Airbnb, lovely Indian couple and they had a granny flat attached to their home. Only thing that annoyed me was they had no TV! Man, it was quiet in the evening. Anyway, had no issue with the solve on this one and a narrow little road to drive the car on, thanks for the hide.
Found on a trip down south to the Dunedin Mega with trayc.gsigned as MrMuggle or MM to save room..Thanks to the COs for all your caches. We had a blast. TFTC
Down in Dunedin for the Mega this weekend with McJandals and NZFLOSSY. Signed the log sheet MDF Thanks for the cache.
Was down here for the Dunedin Geo Toroa Event from the sunny Bay of Plenty,Tauranga and are with some of Team BoP. Great to get together with our fellow cachers. Signed Logs MDF. (McJandals,Davidson clan & NZ Flossy) and have teamed up with our fellow bop mates for the last couple of days Squirrel Nutcase and Fap and Gap. (Fangs)I am logging using the Cachly App and using their template option which helps with my memory for logging. I genuinely thank every CO for their time and effort put into these caches. Much appreciated. . Trying to catch up with my logging.
Found with Gazania Rigens & Wombatwandering as per their logs, I waited in the car whilst fat was chewed with the other cacher team.TFTC
Back home in Taranaki after a massive 5 days at the Dunedin Mega with MrMuggleNZ and its time to start logging my findsall 226 of themso wish me luck. Only 2 DNFs the whole time we were here so thats a testament to the dedication of the local cache owners and their maintenance prior to this event. Day 4Solved this one on the second pass through. Doh! Easy as! Quick find here. Sun is trying to come out..hope so!TFTC
We met Wombat Wanderering and Gazanis Regan and ZS from UK at this one. We had met Wombat Wanderering on Saturday morning and found a few caches with her. So it was fun to meet again.
Great to catch up with Nosynel, Jude_E, and MacPacMum again at this cache. Hadvent seen you since.. yesterday! A puzzle just right for my solving ability but I had to make two passes to see the cache. One of those caches where it would have helped to be shorter and have a different line of sight. Found with Gazania Rigens and Zouavesauvage. Thanks for placing! #13,600.
A tricky little one to spot, but at least the puzzle was nice and easy. We met another group of cachers here and had a quick chat. TFTC!
Out on a rainy Sunday with Nosynel and MacPacMum. Met Wombat Wandering and Gazania Rigens busy looking when we pulled up. A not too difficult puzzle. Thanks for the hide.#10804

We signed the caches as ACD (Australian Cachers in Dunedin) and went out on the Otago Peninsula. We had done a lot of puzzle solving in the months up to the GeoToroa Mega.Today's weather was variable and not as wet as yesterday.TFTC

It is great to be back to see more of this beautiful country. Thanks for hiding this cache Wilbywarrior
At last, the day of the Dunedin Mega dawned, and most of the Aussie crew from Canberra met up early this morning. After enjoying friends' old and new company, we completed the Gadget caches. Then it was off to finish the Albatross series, which we had worked on for weeks in preparation for our visit, as well as a few other targeted caches along the way.Thankfully, the weather was much kinder to us today, and to cap it all off, we found every cache we tried for. Please excuse the generic logs. The caches were all great and in excellent condition, especially considering the weather that Dunedin has been experiencing. All caches were signed as ACD, Australian Cachers in Dunedin, which included Isopeda, barb2e, Kittykatch, Joolay, Grimraider, Icybeetas and myself. After signing duties were completed, the caches were rehidden where found. All COs are to be congratulated on their contributions to our game. Thanks for the cache.
Glad we didnt have to go down thereWeather still grey, rainy and cold.Day 6 and more picking up with isopeda, Icybeetas, Kittykatch, Smittengranny, Grimraider and barb2e. Outnabout with Chamad, Snickersallan, Ardom & Bluewattle on my first ever trip across the ditch. Log signed as QLD+1 to save some space. After a week of caching around Brisbane and at events last month with other Geo friends, I couldnt pass up the opportunity to hop on board for a NZ Mega adventure. Another great day for caching. ?? TFTC Wilbywarrior
On the way in, we misinterpreted the hint a bit and so Marchwood found himself down the slope slipping around in the rain. We came back on the flip-flop with the correct interpretation of the hint and found the cache quickly and much more safely. I guess that's the last time Marchwood will listen to me. TFTC.
We are four ladies from Sweden on visit in New Zealand. We log as TULP (tigertassen, ursus67, lnganfans and pidjas). Today we visited the welcome event, did some Adventure labs and talked to people. After that we went for a tour to log solved mysterys before going back to the CITO.A big Thank You to CO for the cache.
Down for the MEGA with Supernannny and Net61 collecting some caches on the way. We had solved this puzzle prior to our trip to Dunedin. As the weather was so wet today, we went for a drive to Portobello. We stopped at the local pub for a drink and hot chips by the fire, and then set out to find this cache. It took a while to spot this one, but once we spotted it we couldnt unsee it. TFTP
Day two of the MEGA, and matagouri and I have teamed up with watcache to explore the otago peninsula and get as many caches as we could, while braving the bitter cold rain and wind.Despite the weather we had a lot of fun. Thanks to all the CO's for setting up and maintaining these caches. We signed the log as watratmat
Down in Dunedin for the Mega. Great to be back for another Mega 12 years after NZ's first Mega here in 2012. Visiting Dunedin to attend the Mega Event this weekend so in the meantime looking for caches. This cache was found in good condition. Thank you for placing and maintaining it for our enjoyment.
Visiting from Wellington and travelling today with ThatDarnBear and JustlookingOO. Also met up with Flowery Dase and Talla 64. JLOO found this one.
#4069 Today is day 25 of my geocaching vacation in New Zealand. I'm in Dunedin for [Geo Toroa (Dunedin, NZ)](https://coord.info/GCA7ZHD) mega event this weekend. Today, I drove to the peninsula and found some caches there.Found it! Another park and grab, but it took me some time to spot the cache. Wilbywarrior, thank you for the cache! -crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan on October 25, 2024 @ 15:06:21[GCA2R3Z] Flag (Otago) was a D2.0/T1.5 Micro Mystery Cache at the time of finding.
In Dunedin to attend the Mega this weekend, travelling with TrinityNZ and JustLookingOO.Today's itinerary includes all the albatross solves located on the peninsula. We also had a few must-do's on the list. Thanks for setting this series up! ?? Logs today signed as 'Team Trio', TT on nano logs, and names in full on challenge caches.
We parked at the shops at Portobello and walked along to these three albatross caches and took some photos of the slip . You could have driven along as there was room to turn around / I took a photo of one of the many slips that have occurred all along this coast line . . We came down to Dunedin for the great Mega event - which was really good ! - and had previously solved all of the Albatross caches - with a lot of assistance - and had had several days either side , for caching up either side of the harbour and other caches around about . It was a shame that the High cliff road has been subject to the weather patterns and heavy rain and blocked the road . T he Weather either side of the mega was reasonable, but both the saturday and the sunday were rather wet . . sadly. there are so many caches all around this area so even after 5-6 days of caching there are still hundreds of caches to be found . With so many caches some get lost in a bit of a fog . We took nothing and left nothing here . Thank you for this cache .
Out with woolwood9 heading to the MEGA in Dunedin.Tomorrows weather looked really bad so we tried to get some of the Albatross series after finding quite a few of the Airplane geo-art series today.SL *tm/ww NZ* or tm/ww or with one of the groups we met at many of the caches. We enjoyed the drive / walk around! ????*Thanks for the fun puzzle cache geo-art Wilbywarrior* ??
Did this one in the company of Team Trio (TrinityNZ, JustlookinOO and That Darn Bear).Talla64 and I are down from Kapiti attending the Mega. I suggested we do the Albatross geo-art series while we are down here, and Talla thought it a good idea. The puzzles are great and fun to solve, although I needed help with 2 or 3 of them. I apologise for this generic log but would like to thank Willbywarrior for this great series which took us to some beautiful areas in Dunedin. In fact plans are afoot to return next year as there is so much to see, and the 5 days we spent here were simply not enough. The Mega was a very successful event which Talla and I enjoyed very much. Thank you Wilbywarrior for everything. Log signed by Talla and me as T64/FD.
tmann421 and I are on our way south to attend the MEGA, picking up a few caches on the way.We enjoyed all the caches found and thank the cache owners for their efforts in maintaining these for us to findLog signed tm/ww NZTFTC
Caching with LW today, she saw this hide before I did. All good here, TFTC and enjoyed the puzzle.
Day 10 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc. We arrived in Dunedin yesterday and today we hired bikes to ride the Otago Vine including a ferry ride across the bay.We managed to collect a lot of the puzzles we had prepared for and I think we only had a couple of DNFs. It rained, the sun shone, the wind blew, it was calm - the whole gamut really.A slight left after the crossing to pick up these couple while we were over here. Thanks for contributing to the fun Wilbywarrior
Day ten of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris. We have at last arrived in Dunedin. We spent today riding the Otago Vine clockwise, collecting caches as we came across them.Stopped at Port Chalmers for lunch then caught the ferry to Portobello.Mostly a nice day except for a bit of rain just out of Portobello (but we soon dried off).We were hoping a flag would be hanging here, but it was only a bison! Thanks, Robmc.
Flag (Otago)Dunedin MEGA Thursday! A bit of sightseeing and of course some caching. It was a great privilege to find some amazing caches in such a beautiful place. A massive thank you to all of the COs for the preparation, placement and maintenance of these caches. TFTC Wilbywarrior# 10594CheersWillis007
After attending the tree planting CITO at Tiaroa Heads, we stopped for a coffee and thought we better pick the solved puzzles out here. It is a bit of a drive from Dunedin so great to pick up 3 of the Albatross puzzles today. Quick find at GZ. Thanks Wilbywarrior for the puzzles, hopefully won't be too long to I have them all solved and picked up. Will put that on my bucket list !
Replaced logbook in preparation for the upcoming influx in October. Didnt replace the rusty keyring as a shiny new one would stand out more.
**77/11/100pt** Clockwise on wing Albatross geoart Interesting subject matter. I think I have only seen this flag flying once somewhere in town. Certitude checker 52 Woo-Hoo! / 12 D'Oh! I got two red ticks before gaining a green one after the 7min wait for the checker to reload when I put those pesky apostrophes in. Now exploded to Green 160/30 Red as Mega'24 punters load their PQ's. Green micro had been repaired with a black ziptie spotted easily as someone had scuffed up dirt giving the spot away, it's been rectified so it doesn't look like a herd of elephants have been past. The original hide was on the ground where the cache had been last found. RITR logslip has been signed but might be missing a photo. Just one watcher but plenty of rubberneck muggles across the bay so parties more then two might be a little obvious milling around the GZ as muggles drive along the narrow road, there aren't many places where you can just step off the road. TFTC WW
Hmmm, sneaky. Found it on a chopped branch, so kinda as per the hint, just at ankle height now. May be in danger of someone giving the attached branch the biff down the bank. Cheers
About six weeks ago I came down to Dunedin for the first time since the last time I was here, and while I was here I noticed a puzzle geocache that hadn't ever been found, for over a year. So once I was back home I solved the puzzle and came down again this weekend to find it.Once that was done, I went off and found some more geocaches. Specifically those that made up the Albatross geoart, and I managed to find all of them. It was an excellent day's caching that I enjoyed very much. Especially good was the almost always spot on coordinates, good parking at most locations, and usually useful hints for those tricky hides (except the fake rock one, that wasn't so helpful).Well with that terrain value there really was only one place it could be, and it was. All good here, the cache was found safe and well.---Thanks to Wilbywarrior for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.
This one took a while to spot! Had a look and couldn't see it, so kept walking and looked again on my way back, and this time success! Yay! Thanks for the puzzle and cache, always good to get just one more! Can never have too many smilies!
Once, our trip to NZ had been fixed, J:org started to look after interesting caches and mysteries we could include into our tour. Very soon, he spotted the Albatros and started working on it. Finally he succeeded in solving them all, so just one more question (should I say dilemma?) had to be ansered: on which of them to concentrate during our outdoor-part, as it has been very clear from the beginning we would not be able to log all of them...?Thanks to very friendly chats with Wilbywarrior a solution has been found and we had a wondeful day at the peninsula with lots of great views! Thank you for this great experience with double fun indoor & outdoor!
When planing our vacation in NZ we spotted this nice Albatross Geoart. There still has been enough time to solve most of them but it has been quickly clear: we cannot visit them all. Time constraints did not permit that.Wilbywarrior recommended to take the peninsula side and this has been a very good advise. We have seen so many beautiful places and views from different angles. This was really great! And we found all (!) caches from our todo list on this side. Many thanks for this fun. We would love to come back again and complete the albatross but as well to further discover this nice place in and around Dunedin. Many thanks for the cache.
Out on a cyclocache ride up the cyclepath from Andersons Bay to Portobello and back. I saw I had 3 solved puzzles on this road so it was worth riding up it on eMTB. But inspite of looking for 10 mins I didn't spot the cache. Time to move on.
Another puzzle that I could spot how to solve straight away, especially with an idea of what the solution would be. Driving along managed to park right next to the cache, but because my phone was not as quick as my (very slow) driving, I ended up walking back a little way to look for the cache. Eventually GeohoundandI pointed out that it was right in front of her when she got out of the car. I still maintain I actually wanted to look at the views and see if I could see any sea lions or penguins.
I thought that today's exercise would be to sign off some of the Albatross Series on the Southern side of the harbour. This one had me going so I used my PAF card but no-one was answering. Then I found it a few minutes later.Cheers for the cache, Wilbywarrior.
Out and about on day 9 of my South Island Tour and day 3 of "Wellingtonions Gone South: Dunedin Edition" with NZ_B, TwigNZ, Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020 and matagouri. The target of this day was cleaning up some of the peninsula. All logs signed as MINT. TFTC
A visit to Dunedin by Wellington geocachers NZ_B, Itchyfeet2020, TwigNZ, Mr-Mcgoo, Taybee NZ, and myself. Signing as Team MINT, targeting old caches, Wherigos, and whatever else we can find.Today, we were focusing on the Albatross series. Most of these have been pre-solved, so simply a case of finding. Most of these were simple finds in easy-to-reach locations. There were no problems with missing logs or maintenance required, although one or two took some extraction from the hiding place! Thanks for the series, WilbyWarrior!
A group of friends have traveled together to Dunedin to collectively target a whole bunch of caches, primarily because of their value in terms of Jasmer Grid filling, or for certain Challenge Caches that we have elected to try to achieve.M.M.I.N.T.T are Mr-Mcgoo, matagouri, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, taybee nz and TwigNZ. Some logs were signed this way, some were signed as M.I.N.T for expediency, and some (mainly Challenge Caches) were signed with individual names.Day 3, and the main focus of our day would be hitting the Otago Peninsula where we hoped to find many of the Albatross Geoart series, especially the Challenge Caches. We had decided to take a break over a coffee and cake (or cheese rolls or whatever). Now suitably refreshed, and after a bit of a walk to stretch our legs, we were back in the cars again. This was a straightforward find at GZ. No issues to report with the cache or contents, so we replaced as found after adding our team name onto the log.Thank you for setting up this series for all to find.
(# 8332) The Wellington crew are on another mission. Included are Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, TwigNZ, Matagouri and TaybeeNZ. As usual quite a bit of hilarity. Day 3 was more centred on the Albatross series around the peninsula. Signed as MINT.Thanks Wilbywarrior for bringing me here.
The first place I entered in Certitude was the correct answer. Yippee.Day 3 of The Wellingtonians are in Dunedin tour with TwigNZ, Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020 and matagouri, as well as TaybeeNZ who decided to have a few days of his South Island tour with us. We are targeting specific caches -oldies, wherigos (thanks to the Seagnoids new caches on the Wainuiomata Hill road in Lower Hutt), a certain jet and hopefully a certain bird. Of course, there will be days of laughter, no doubt at my expense During our time here, all found caches were signed as MINT, regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 5 of us hadn't found it previously, or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.Kia ora rawa atu for the cache Wilbywarrior.
Day 3 of our Dunedin Invasion with six welly cachers. We have lots of plans and caches to find - probably to many - but with many of the very targeted oldies now done, day 3 can be a bit more play. Today is the peninsula. Very careful to not drop the log here. All logs signed as MINT.
After getting gorse prickles in fingers this morning, while failing to find a puzzle final that was still there, then failing to find another puzzle final that wasn't there, and getting to our meeting just in time... a third attempt this afternoon biking to a puzzle final we had team-located last month. Saw the sunlight glint off it as we approached. Signed off!
Out with the Wednesday group, it took us a while to spot the micro, cunningly hidden. Thanks for the cache, wilbywarrior.
Being half blind, I have an excuse for not seeing this one! Luckily MacBayMeri spotted something and we then had the cache in hand. TFTC.
Well this one is very neatly camouflaged. MrMagoo72 and I looked and looked for quite a few minutes, before I spotted the tie it was attached to - even then it took me a moment to actually see the container. Signed the log and as we returned to our car, a walker came past (luckily we had already returned the container) and then a convoy of 7 cars came by, on their way out of the Marine Centre. TFTC and for the puzzle.
Probably took longer than needed as not keen to get close to the edge (didn't need to in the end).
What a great day in Dunedin, gabbing a few caches around the the place, 100% today no DNF, most unusual. Many Thanks - Bitsprayer
I didn't recognise the flag and had to Google it. When we got to the cache location today and read the previous log, I thought it might take us a while to find, but fortunately I spotted it quickly. TFTC
Nearly gave upon my search..looking...looking...cache blindness??? Last look and spotted the well camoed micro yay! Enjoyed solving yet another Albatross puzzle tftp Matt
Surprisingly the flag in question was totally unknown to us, and although the cache location looked a little worrying, it turned out to be a quick easy find. TFTC
We are having the day exploring for caches before heading home tomorrow. Enjoyed the puzzle as hadn't seen it before. Thanks for this cache Wilbywarrior.
Great hide. Mum spotted that one before I did. In fact, when I took the paper out of the container to sign it, I couldn't actually find the container again to put the paper back in!! Replaced eventually, thanks!
Between this one and the last one, we had gone from sunshine to rain and hail!. It took longer to find than we would have liked but perseverance paid off because we weren't getting wet for nothing Found with Spoonz2
Having just made comments about how lovely the weather was, the clouds opened and there was a downpour followed by hail!!! We were so close to this that we continued on, but by the time we had found and signed we were both soaked, and we still had to walk back to the car. Found with Debsnz.
Puzzle was easy enough, but it took me a couple of looks to find the cache and make the FTF.
