On a warm day we were out for a walk. This was one of the caches we had in our sites. Down the access road and then round the front of the fenced off area while stopping to admire the views. There were a few muggles at the beach but this did not stop us from making out observations and looking for fossils.Answers sent.Family matters have brought us to Melbourne for a period of time yet to be determined. As we spend time here however it gives us the opportunity for some caching in areas we would not usually get to.We chased a wide variety of caches and Labs with some great puzzles and Labs in some beautiful spring weather.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache gmj3191.**SKI Pair****
I was after an Earthcache today but was having a lot of connection issues. Ive always wondered who uses the Telstra wifi at those telephone booths. Now I know - me! Got the questions downloaded and took the bus from Cheltenham. Pretty sure that my cousin got married at this yacht club (Hi John and Amanda). Had I known that there was a fossil beach on the other sideNo fossil hunting for me today though as there was already a group of 10 people there and theyre worked the sand over. I was interested to read that no digging tools are allowed here but it hadnt stopped them. High tide so I couldnt get along the cliffs very far. Next time. Answers sent. Thanks!
**International Earthcache Day, 13 Oct 24**Being International Earthcache Day 2024, I set my sights on several ECs for the souvenir, one in Beaumaris, and one all the way around the other side of the bay at Anglesea. It was an early start, and I made my way down to the fossil beach in Beaumaris. Whilst taking notes about the layers etc, I observed a white-faced heron wading in the little pool at the back of the beach. Lucky me. But I failed to find any fossils this time. Now I know about this place I will return with JonnyGoldcoast who is into this type of thing.PS I have been saving this cache for over a year since I couldn't get the FTF when it was published. It's been the 2nd closest unfound to me for ages, but now is a happy yellow smiley Thanks gmj3191 for the geology lesson here. Interesting stuff. Cache on *Throw off the bowlines. Found by The Empire + HBefore hitting the beach, we made a stop at Sauls, a popular sandwich shop, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch. The sandwiches were just what we needed to fuel up for the day ahead. The weather was perfectclear skies and warm sunshine, setting the mood for a great day out. After lunch, we drove to Beaumaris Beach to check out the fossil beds. Walking along the shoreline, we sifted through the sand, marveling at the layers of ancient rock formations exposed along the cliffs. We spotted a few fossils, taking in the fascinating history hidden within the beach's sediment. It was the perfect way to celebrate Earthcache weekend, combining adventure with a bit of education! Answers sent, thanks for the cool earthcache gmj3191.-MEarthcache #447
Decided to go for a short drive today to build up my kids hours for their Learners and decided to drop by here expecting no one to be here. Boy were we wrong, on this tiny little beach with a LOT of washed up seaweed there was about 20 people all looking for fossils. It was a really nice day and the pelicans seemed to be enjoying themselves about 50m away out on the water. Clues were gathered, no fossils were found, photos were taken and we headed off on our next stage of the drive. Thanks gmj3191 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.
After not quite making to this morning's CITO I thought I'd cache locally.I'd been saving this EC for either an International Earthcache Day or a promotion. It just so happens that the Cosmic Quest promotion allocates 5points to an EC as opposed to 1 point for almost every other type so I thought I'd pop down and gather answers/photo.Answers have been sent to the CO. Required photo is attached to this log.
TwoEms wondered what the connection to Cachemas might be, but then we realised there are a lot of little presents just waiting to be found here. There is something quite extraordinary about being able to hold a trace of something that lived millions of years ago, but we imagine that finding a fossil on the beach feels just like opening a present on Christmas Day. Thank you for the EarthCache.
Always love paddling past here, never got to appreciate this as a kid growing up in this area - I would have spent more time if I had a kayak back then...or a sailboat. I had a windsurfer, but wasted all my time at Hampton Beach instead.
We were out and about with SkippingGirl11, looking for various caches. We love Earthcaches, and since she is interested in geology, finding Earthcaches is a great idea. The weather was variable, but we didn't find as many caches as we would have liked as we were both vexed with a head cold.We enjoyed looking for fossils on this beach but were unsuccessful today.Thank you, gmj3191, for this Earthcache.
I must confess I attended the site some months ago but forgot to submit my answers, I finally got around to sending the answers and then had to wade through a thousand photos to find my photo. The spot seemed very popular as there were several people here when I an attended. Thanks gmj3191 for the cache and showing me this location.
Find number 13408 at 12:47:54PM on Monday the 27 May 2024What a beautiful day to go out and enjoy so here I am out geocaching; how good does it get. Set a plan and created a list of 2023 Vic Awards nominee caches and a few TDOC23 caches that I still haven't found. Found all on the list which included some bush, some park, and some beach walking and way too much driving but there you go!What an amazing place this is and today I was rewarded with a very rare viewing of the reclusive Beaumaris Beach Brown Bear. I couldn't believe my luck to join a club that so very few can join.I believe there is a cliff here somewhere as well **Thanks for placing this cache gmj3191**---*WOW, so much happening here in Victoria*Log your will attend for [**Cachemas In July**](https://coord.info/GCAPPGD) and get your [tickets here]( https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1228458?) for the event in Kensington on 27 July 2024.Log your will attend for [**SideTracked Day 2024**](https://coord.info/GCAPPGF) on 10 August 2024 at the Miniature Railway Park in Eltham. The Great Victorian Cache Crawl is coming on 17-18 August 2024, this year starting near Melbourne heading up around Echuca and back over the weekend. Had the most relaxing time here! I've messaged my answers to the CO. We walked along the grassed path to where the fossil beach is, a family were down on the pebbles sorting through the stones, and occasionally there were shouts of delight. We noticed 3 pelicans swimming close by and walked over to where they swam by the rocks. It appeared they were eating something emerging from the pipes - ewww! Then my husband pointed out something else in the water, not 1 but 3 Stingrays were also feeding off whatever was coming out of the pipes!!! Pelicans and Stingrays seemed to get along. By now, the family that were on the beach had joined us and were excited to show their finds, a sharks tooth and lots of sea urchin fossils. This is a beautiful area, and I'll certainly be back to take more photos for future artworks I paint. Good to know you can go to the Beaumaris Motor Yacht Club on Friday evenings for dinner regardless of if you are member, must book of course, but how nice would it ve to dine and watch the sun set!
Out early together over this side of town to deliver one of Rick's bike parts for repair, so thought we'd do this Earthcache and a nearby trad. High tide just now, so not much beach.
We managed to drive down the track to the yacht club on a quiet day with virtually nobody down there. The _Evil_Muggle stayed in the car down at the gate - as far as we could get while I walked down to GZ. The layers of geological soils were evident and the information board was useful to help understand what it all meant. It was a quiet little beach and I took time to soak it all in, but knew I had to get back, so took the required photos so I could study it all later. Im afraid Im not good at taking selfies, possibly because I use an iPad which is heavier to hold while taking the photos. This is the best I could do, I think I accidentally deleted the selfies not realising why I had taken them.
Having travelled down for sharkiefan's Australia Day event in Werribee with our kayaks and a blow up dingy on board, catnap777 and I then turned the Georig towards Little River for a few very rewarding T5s and then on to The Barwon and the Moorabool Rivers for more. The next day we went chasing the saltwater and found ourselves beach combing at The Beaumaris Fossil Beach. It was a perfect day for sneaking down to this spot hidden away but popular with the locals. After wetting our feet at GZ, cat and I took the time to get a couple of spoiler pics to study at home and write up our assignment from the comfort of a lounge chair. Well, we have sent off our coluded response for the CO and, baring any major discrepancies , now we get to say.....TFTEarthC gmj3191 and Merry Cachemas.
Site visited with dalerious and answers messaged to CO for scrutiny. dalerious will post the photo of us in situ .It was a glorious day chosen to visit this Earthcache, and dalerious and I were enjoying our feet in the water. There were a few people scattered around. One young family enjoying the little beach, and as we made our way around the other side some people were there talking about the area and what could be found if you looked hard enough. All in all, an enjoyable visit, and if we weren't too busy visiting caches, I could imagine us sitting on that beach searching for parts of things that were alive a long time ago.Thank you gmj3191 for bringing us here .
A quick Melb visit to attend LetThemEatCaches event and Ronice and I went for a little caching afterwards. Lovely to be by the beach - should have bought my togs as it was a rare swim day this Summer. Thanks so much for the geocaching geology lesson gmj3191Regardskbucky
Wow wow wow! I absolutely loved this earthcache. I had heard of the fossil beach but didnt know how to get to it nor that you are allowed to keep the fossils you find. Amazing! Answers sent to CO and photo attached, although I cant seem to rotate the image on my android phone. Fav point for sure and will add better photos when I get home and on the PC.
Christmas Day caching at the beach. I grew up in Parkdale but never managed to come here until now. So glad I did. A cool Christmas Day - I don't ever remember oine of those.I AM GURTHE SKITZ CACHER
TFTC! 15 December 2023 3:58:39pm 6521Thanks for sharing this great spot! First time actually here! I didnt know it was even here without this earthcache! Really pretty. Did a mini cito and picked up a good bag of rubbish. Shame things get wash down here in the rain we are assuming!
Another day, another Earthcache. It was several moons ago that I last found myself on this beach, where I was joined by fellow geology students studying the region and collecting some fossils on the side, to which my favorite fossil in my collection came from this site. Joining me here today was Brain as I dragged him down to another earthcache. After a quick stroll and accidentally disturbing a family picnic to collect the information we soon had all we needed. Thanks for another excellent earthcache and for bringing me to this location once again!
Following our victory at this year's Archibald, buhfuhguh offered to take me down to Fossil Beach and have a look around whilst completing this EarthCache.I had initially planned to go here before COTY a few weeks ago but parked a bit too far away to be bothered and figured I'd keep it for a more convenient time (and better weather). It's just as well I did because it turns out that going to a beach with a ton of fossils on it alongside a geologist means that you can find some cool stuff!I learned to spot the sea urchins and crab burrows in the cliffside (very much in a case of 'once you see them, you can't unsee them') and located some rocks on the beach with imprints of shells amongst them.Even at high tide, the scramble along the rocks was plenty of fun and we just about had the place to ourselves! The EarthCache itself was logically arranged with some interesting and relevant information to boot.I also found the diagram to be really helpful when applying it all to the specific location (which itself was a bit of a hidden gem!) and felt confident in answering the questions resultantly, which isn't always a guarantee with some ECs!Definitely worthy of a favourite point for all parts of this very cool experience. Thanks to gmj3191 for setting up this Cachemas EarthCache!
Fun place to work through the answers to this cache. I got it out with Wisewarrior and Littlehawk. TFTC
Earthcache Day 2023It was a lovely day and so I convinced Jetsons23 to come out with me to find a few caches. Initially we approach from the wrong direction and elevation before finding the way in. What a great spot this is. Would never of known it existed. We wandered around looking and picking up bits and pieces especially the interesting quirky shaped rocks. Answers sent to CO. This was an interesting and enjoyable Earthcache. Thank you for the Earthcache here gmj3191
Apologies for the belated log. Earth caches tend to take me longer to log because I automatically think it will be too hard to answer the questions so I put it off for a week which becomes a month and so forth. I had heard it was international earth cache day on the date of my visit as I had intentionally headed out to find to find one or two EC's. The yacht club was busy and people were out in droves given the nice weather. I ended up taking the grassy track right beside the fence line of the club house towards the beach. Unfortunately some people were already on the beach as can be seen in the image and I didn't really want to impose even though I was keen to take a closer look and maybe even find a fossil. Answers sent to CO. I hope they suffice. Thanks for bringing me here gmj.
Date: October 8, 2023 Time: 12:15 PMFind #14246Stopped by with beckNmonts and Manfred Wolfgang on this very beautiful spring day. Answers gathered, Time for lunch.Massive thanks go to gmj3191 for placing this one.
Cygnus3333 and I visited today for International Earthcache Day. After gathering the information we had a short hunt for fossils but with the tide in and good clothes we were restricted to the beach itself, however I still managed to find a few worn and broken Heart Urchins and a couple of probable marine work burrow casts in ironstone. Another curious fossil-like object I found I fear was just a woody seed cone or similar but did look a little like a small urchin. Plenty of "sea glass" and other human items (bits of broken ceramicware and even a small tessera) Alas, I still haven't found a shark's tooth of my own - maybe next time...
Found with CJDenno. We had a quick lunch at a cafe when we realised we could get a souvenir if we find an earth cache today. After noticing this, we came here and collected the info, took our photo and sent off the answers to the CO and we made our way past the final preparations for a wedding ceremony. Thanks for setting this up, we had fun.
Well, being a rather nice day in the sun, PrezDough and I headed here to find an Earthcache on Earthcache Day.A wedding ceremony was being prepared so we were happy that it wasnt underway just yet as we wandered past looking to access the beach.A great location and a few families out playing in the sun on the sand. The information was soon sourced and sent to the CO.Thanks for this one.Great fun.
It was no surprise to find people down here scouring the beach for fossils after a couple of days of rough weather. We tried not to get in their way while looking for answers to the questions. A nice straight forward one for our 300th earthcache. Amazing to think we spent so much time (years) avoiding them after an early earthcache answering attempt proved to be painful where the CO insisted on lots of back and forth to get the answers exactly correct. Thanks to encouragement from this CO and Micaparamedic to give earthcaching another try, to say what you see and sometimes just do a little research we relaunched ourselves into the world of geology via earthcaching which has led to us attempting earthcaches all over the world.our last trip saw us earthcaching in Iceland with geoaware! What an adventure! Happy Earthcaching day!
I was really pleased to see this Earthcache pop up on the Cachemas list and made a note to make a visit here on Earthcache Day. I did however forget to note the tides and it was a little wet underfoot as I made my way over the rocks and down onto the sand. I didn't find any fossils but did find plenty of sea glass. Thanks for the Earthcache
Found this today on our Saturday Afternoon South West to the Bay Afternoon. After "HA" got dropped off at Southland, I scoured the coast for three earthcaches of which this was the second. A little more confident on the answers here than I was at the previous one. A family of 5 was scouring the beach for fossils. Thanks from D B-A
Out for a day trip to the Peninsula with Chook from ChooknChunk. She had a few caches that she wanted to target which made for an easy, nice day caching.
Unfortunately, the light was getting poor by the time we got here but we decided to take the stroll and have a look anyway. Luckily for us, it wasn't too dark to do this cache. There was a family searching for fossils when we were there.
Such a tiny beach that you wouldn't know existed unless you were told or were local. Thanks for the cache and to ChooknChunk for submitting our answers.

Chook travelled down from Beaufort to Melbourne for the weekend, with the aim of caching with her son LazyAde and finding a few more Cache of the Year nominees and TDOC23 caches along the way. Today she jumped in the car with Geoturtle37 and we made our way down to the Peninsula.
We visited this Earthcache around sunset on the way back home. It was a lovely mild evening for the end of winter, and there were still families fossicking for fossils on the beach. Some of the kids thought they had found fossils and had laid them out on the rocks, but they were just shaped rocks. We didn't destroy their dreams though. TFTE gmj3191

toriakyogle and I had only been in town for 6 hours when we were lucky enough to meet McLookers at an event. The next day we were off on an adventure with McLookers, Sol de lune, Muzza and micaparamedic, learning, laughing and locating.
We submitted answers as team STN3M.
Thanks gmj319. This was my first time in this significant geographical site on Boon Wurrung country.
A favourite from me.

On a caching adventure today with toriakyogle (Coffs Harbour), NannaRuby (Brisbane) micaparamedic (Bendigo) and I'm Ballarat these days.
Next stop on our run around the area and we gathered in the pouring rain and worked out our answers, which have been sent to the CO. Another interesting EC and another one where something has been learnt. I haven't been in this general area in over 30 years, so it was like a new visit for me.
Thanks for EC and reason to visit gmj3191.....

What a great place to explore! Have visited before, but never looked quite so closely at all this spot’s features. We were not alone today, plenty of others searching for fossils too along with our pelican supervisors.

I love caching in Beaumaris as I really like the 50s modern houses peppered through the suburb. Brilliant architecture. I have sent my answers to the CO and hope they pass muster.
Never been there before but interesting to know about Fossil Beach there. Answers sent gmj3191. Thank you so much for placing it.
I once visited this beach as part of a Geography class outing, back in about 1972. There was no talk of fossils back then.
After today's visit, I sent off my answers and received a quick positive response.
Thanks to GMJ3191 for the cache.

No frolicking in the water today as it was Brrr ....did have a quick look for some fossils there were quite a few families exploring. Here's some useless piece of information.. parts of the Egyptian desert was once under water. I am lucky enough to have a fossil from there.
Visited early this morning. What a hidden gem this little beach is. So much geological history too. Thanks for bringing me here, answers e-mailed.
Thanks for the earthcache gmj3191

Thanks for the parking co0ordinates and information of how to get to the location. It was not obvious as the Yacht Club looks like it has all fenced off.
No muggles on the small beach today, but stacks of them fishing on the pier.
Had a good look around, being low tide.
Thanks for the geology lesson.
Emailed my answers.
Thanks, Robmc.

I was actually in the [Whittlesea](https://www.whittlesea.vic.gov.au/) area today to find [n0w0rries'](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=5b32a917-ec75-4f0f-8609-dc880f31d698&wid=fa05e927-a62e-4512-8824-d5b2bbb364c7&ds=2) [2020 D/T Challenge (GC8H9X1)](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC8H9X1) cache when I saw the [Facebook post](https://www.facebook.com/geocachingvictoria/videos/589586200018719) about the two cachemas caches that went live today.
At the time I was almost equal distance between [micaparamedic's](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=4e2e9254-5ccb-4e8a-abd6-db309aab3990&wid=74507c06-68be-455a-bd74-cd635d898533&ds=2) [TDOC23: A Permian Erratic Cachemas Tale](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCAANTN) and this one, but this one was going to be much closer to home once I was done.
So I hopped back into the geomobile and headed towards the beach! I always love a good earthcache as they usually take me to beautiful places and teach me fascinating things about the world we live in and this one was no exception.
With the weather being below average I thought it was going to actually be a bit miserable at GZ, but luckily the weather turned for the better and GZ was actually quite beautiful. I was probably only at GZ for a few minutes before I was joined by [GJMMelb](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=590a63f2-f374-4bfe-97d1-a4a965a81ac4).
It was funny because I had run into them yesterday at the first cachemas cache, [ThePacman's](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=613f235b-0d1d-4bd3-ba3e-1dbcc5779bb8&wid=b71c409a-98af-474f-9072-32432cfba971&ds=2) [TDOC23: "Nature Walk" Wherigo (GCA20BA)](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCA20BA). So it was a fun surprise to seem this again today.
So we obtained the required information, took a couple photos at GZ and parted ways.
A big thanks goes to [gmj3191](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=b4585843-0564-409a-aee2-b35dc0e22ecf&wid=4e2c531f-364c-40f0-991d-0d7cd174c670&ds=2) for bringing me to this hidden little gem. No fossils were found on this trip but I did have a lot of fun with this earthcache anyways. TFTC.
On the second day of cachemas gmj3191 gave to us, an earth cache on Beaumaris beach! 18/7/23 2.40pm. We did some maintenance on our own caches this morning getting quite wet in the process as the weather had changed from beautiful and sunny first thing in the morning to overcast and rainy so we came prepared for a cold and wet encounter here at the beach. However by the time we arrived the weather had cleared so although still a touch cold it was bright and sunny again. As we arrived we spotted horror.fan.jm and had a great time chatting away all things caching. hfj momentarily thought we were YOU with our quite similar team names lol but we sorted that out. GMelb went down to the beach, JMelb only got as far as in the attached photo, which was fine coz you wanted a photo with those rocks in it anyway lol No fossiking was done but we appreciated the area! Answers to questions sent. After a bit more chatting and photos being taken we went back to the car along the track beside the beach.
