This cache:My GPS pointed to a pretty mundane hiding location, so I wondered where all the favourites came from. After not finding the cache there, I moved on to the 'back country' where I indeed spotted a croc, although not really in his natural habitat . Well made and surprise hide here, tftc!Today:I was on a mission today! Actually, I was supposed to be here yesterday but my flight got cancelled. And a Coldplay concert in Auckland meant there was no other option until 24h later. Anyway, I digress. Suffice to say I was very motivated to make this work My mission was to find and qualify for at least 6 challenge caches, in just a few hours of caching in the Shire! Why you ask? Because I need at least 10 challenge caches to qualify for a meta challenge cache in Nelson . I did not think I would be able to do so any time soon, cause I'm not great with challenge caches and there aren't many around in Nelson. Until I saw there is a whole challenge cache power trail in the area where I planned to go caching during my Sydney trip! How great is that?! So I did my homework and figured out which challenges I could qualify for in just a few hours of geocaching, plus find those challenge caches themselves of course. It was a bit of a puzzle with multiple train rides and a lot of running at tge end but I think I (just) succeeded! Still have to go through the checkers after writing these logs. I'm sure about 5 challenges and my manual counting ended up at 31 out of the required 30 different attributes for the 6th! Let's hope the checker agrees Big thanks to all COs for a pleasant Shire caching experience and a special thanks to wazza9 for the challenge power trail that got me inspired to go on a crazy hunt today!
Was explaining geocaching to my uncle who lives around the corner. Oh look, a cache a quick walk away!! Grab the torch, lets go. We arrived at GZ and I spotted the cache immediately. I pointed out a couple of things to look for and he had his first find. Very clever camo. Then he said wheres the next one??
TFTCLog book is quite full- manages to find a random spot to sign- would be worth replacing
Find 2 for today, here to avenge a long-lasted DNF. Went up and down the embankment with no luck, even went where the coordinates were posted which is completely off but understandable with the tree cover. Final attempt and with us now looking in a spot which can only be accessed when you actually head down embankments, we made a quick find! Cool cache container!TFTC, signed and replaced.
In Como this evening and had time to grab a few cache. What an interesting formation, thankfully I had a small flashlight. Lots of spider webs. Picked my time to enter and return out onto the street! Cache and log in good condition, no lid. Thanks for placing this cache merrybeachmick #2720
This was far from your average guard rail find, which is where the GPS was pointing to. Talk about 2 different geocaching worlds next to each other. Got wet gaining access as it had been raining and soon started looking around. Awesome themed container. Thanks for going to the effort. TFTC
Hurrah, the annual Team Keen expedition! This year's attendees: misspalot, raindoctor, runaroundtheworld, and myself. After raindoctor and I had journeyed across from Campbelltown to pick up misspalot and runaroundtheworld, we headed to Como (raindoctor's very good choice of location). After getting started on the nearby AL and historic multi, this was the first green dot on our walk. It was runaroundtheworld who entered first, but then I felt I should join the search. After a few minutes we got the right angle of sight to spy this critter in it's lair and bring it out for the log to be signed. Now things are really underway.
Ratw and rassilon256 went in for the retrieving! Beautiful cache construction, tftc!
On our annual caching adventure! The first cache of the day and I didn't want to go in there... So thankfully runaroundtheworld and rassilon256 did the dirty work to find this really clever cache. TFTC!
Found It!Great little spot that you'd never know about if not for this cache! Once I got to the right level/side, I soon found the cache!TFTC
Near a school and I am here wrong time. Will try again a different time. TFTC will find it!!!
Find # 9782Nice quick'ish find.Great camo and worth a favourite point. TFTC merrybeachmick 9 October 2023 14:39
Nearly gave up on this, but went back with a TOTT and spotted it.TFTC merrybeachmick
Out caching with promuffinz on our bikes today.
The coords were off but after reading some logs we knew where to go. After pulling out the trusty flashlight we just saw it standing proud. Very creative cache.

Ah the things we do for geocaching - dodged many spiderwebs for this one but was rewarded with awesome camo! Loved it!
Was checking in much the wrong corner of the area before reading previous logs and finally discovering the spot
Signed and returned as found - with the ever present reminder of needing to add tweezers to my CachingKit Bag!; TFTC!

In the area with a group doing a history walk around this part of Como. Steady as she goes was the theme as we approached GZ. I was crouched close when Mrs A said "what's that" and sure enough that was it. I noticed that there is evidence of a midden in the area. TFTC MBM.
Wazza9 found quickly after GPS settled. Signed log and replaced. Thanks to CO. Good hide.
TFTC,
Came back to our old playground for a coffee and a walk.
Took the time to build caches for this month's challenge.
A good hide. Added a favourite and visited trackables.

Found it - have held it in my hands! But, alas, I left the house for a bike ride and had no pen with me - I initially had no plan to look for anything today. Will come back in a couple of days and sign it to mark as found.
Update 10/4 - found again and signed. G’day to the two others I met here who found it as I came by to sign it!

A quick fun search on the way home at the suggestion of Mr&Mrs Fish! Great to meet @raammo there who obliged us with a pen borrow as well and a brief hunt for some lost glasses.
(3 of 4 today - including 1 Adventure Lab)
Bumping up the calendar finds today - including the AL calendar.
Headed south this afternoon to Como - and I may well be back here on a few days.
Started with the AL - was hoping for a second, but couldn't find what was needed. Am I supposed to find some spray can graffiti on a rock? Hopefully not...
Then three traditionals - all drama free, thankfully.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Parked - right next to a previous GZ here - my that one was tough. Walked to GZ and quickly realised I wasn't quite at GZ. So relocated and made a quick find.
Added my ink to the log and replaced. Then out of there. Seems this spot is used for other activities - that certainly have no place so close to a primary school.
Time to head home.

Found with the geowife SamanthaRogers. No crocodiles spotted, I suspect that the duck has scared them away.
Gotcha! TFTC
Found it with the Geohusband @Nosmada
Spewing I didn't see any crocs because I tells ya, SOMEBODY definitely could've been fed to them...

So I’ve seen a snake curled up like this in a very similar spot so I was a bit hesitant to stick my hands everywhere. Have a FP for a cool camo.

Yes! What a croc! This was the 'just one more' on the way home from Lake Illawarra (or was it?!). TFTC merrybeachmick
No school children to contend with today only tradies preparing the buildings for the new school year.
Nice cache container in a very dark place. Frazeydaze needed the phone torch to claim the prize. FP awarded. TFTC.

What a great time to look for this cache - school holidays and plenty of parking.
Oldmorty and I slipped through the space between the fence and the rock wall and into the dark. We found ourselves at the top of a steep slope leading down to water. But, thankfully, we didn’t have to go down there as the coords were much closer.
A quick manoeuvre and I was inside and turned on my torch for the search.
The very short search turned up an appropriately camouflaged cache.
Thanks merrybeachmick for placing this cache.

Well I couldn't have come here in school time.
My previous find had required walking/clambering along Carina Bay Creek or is that Oyster Bay Creek? There were lots of fallen trees and I ripped the pants of my favourite geocaching shorts along the way. Still I couldn't see it, it was behind me so I carried on. lol
I parked in the shade near the primary school and thought how lucky it was deserted today or I couldn't have done this one. They might have arrested me.
I guess I could have claimed a crocodile got me!
The cache description was easy to follow and the co- ordinates were good so I made a quick find.
This is an interesting spot. There is plenty of evidence that this was previously an Aboriginal site as there was a midden that has hardly been disturbed, I assume since European settlement, until a geocacher came along.

This was such an unexpected find- on the map I'm thinking it is in a guardrail or something. Then I hunt in a corner, then read the description- and realise there is a little more to it than that. Off I go on the hunt, a previous log said a torch was an advantage and soon I spot a dreaded croc tail. A really good little cache in that it was not what I expected! TFTC!
Geoboyfriend came up with the goods here too. And lo and behold we did spot a croc!
Out and about on a holiday mini mission with goldfinger777
Initially we searched several spots before returning to the obvious location. Had to fire up the torch on the phone to examine a few spots then spied the crafty croc resting in his little home.
Thanks for the hide, merrybeachmick. Fave point for this one!

After a big Christmas lunch and the mandatory afternoon nap, we built up enough energy to go caching. We headed to Como for what should have been a quick find. So with GeodogZelda along for the ride we made our way there.
Following the cache description directions, we soon arrived at GZ. The hint made sense, but I think I had too much Christmas ham, as I searched without success. Finally, I saw the light and spotted the croc in the corner. Of course in a place I had already checked, but my geosenses must have been on holidays.
A Merrybeach Christmas to merrybeachmick! Another clever hide. Have a FP. TFTC

Found with Brewmaker after he had his post-Christmas nap. It took awhile as Brew couldn't see it from his position. I liked the camo, but glad there weren't any crocs around today. Thanks for bringing us here. TFTC
Not many people around today. I saw where I had to go so parked up from there and walked back to the suggested access. After realising I needed a minor tool it was retrieved from the car then I soon spotted the cache and its camo. Thanks for a very good hide and my first Christmas cache.
[*FTF*] Saw this one but didn't finish work till 5:30 headed over here but in the end it took me way out of my comfort zone dressed the way I was. But found the cache in the corner
With cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for placing the cache merrybeachmick
