A pretty little dell where the cache was found by a fun guy, icybeetas, out on the ground, but was tucked back where it should have been after the logbook was inked with our acronym VIIPERS for Val, Ian, Icy, Pam, Evelyn, Ronice (and Sylvia who would have loved to have seen this spot).Obviously worth a favourite point, thanks Mellymush for bringing us here to this delightful spot which we would not have seen were it not for geocaching.
A group of caching friends are visiting from the mainland and enjoying the scenery while caching. The log was signed as team (viipers) who include cybergran V, SciFiRulz, Riddell, Ronice88, icybeetas and myself. Thanks Mellymush for placing this cache, for all that visit the island to enjoy
Out on a multi mission squeezing in caches on a busy tour itinerary. A quick enough find after working out the right level. Glad my muggle buddy loves the long history celebrated on Norfolk so here we are. And for me its like Norfolk has been a myth or has at least has been in the imagination mirrored by faded school lessons for so longnow the dream to visit Norfolk Island is real! The holiday suddenly looks busy busy with a schedule of tours, events and 70+ caches to find. From the first step on the island everything has been fabulous. Cache found quickly and logged as VIIPERS - a crew of caching buddies from Vic and Tassie ( who include cybergran V, SciFiRulz, Riddell, icybeetas Weirdobiker) TFTC and the fun.

#6078I really love how geocaching takes you to such amazing things. Loved the fungi growing on the tree. A magic spot. Thans for the geo-fun Mellymush dabble2899.
We parked our geomobiles and headed into the forest. What would we find?Wow, that is some serious fungi there! I've never seen one so big. It's common name is Bracket Fungi. They are quite common in rainforesty areas on the east coast of Australia. They are really, really strong, in fact you could stand on it and it would hold ... well at least 50 or 60kg and in this case I would assume much more. To reach this size it must be decades old. Hope no one touches it, and leaves it for others to enjoy. The cache, well it was a quick find. Now it's off to Bumbora, which looks like a more challenging walk.TFTC # 6027
Found today with Geocaching friends. Thanks for bringing us to this spot. The fungi was absolutely stunning. A favourite point from me!

On my last full day on Norfolk Island, I picked out a few isolated caches in places that sounded interesting. Here, I was drawn by the promise of a giant fungus and it did not disappoint. An added bonus was the beauty of Bumboras, as I hadn't been here yet. Every corner of this island is magical. Thanks for bringing us here.
That is the most amazing specimen of one of these I have ever seen! Great location, and given a favourite.TFTC
A quick and easy find. Your right that is an absolutely fabulous fungi and I'm glad you led me to see it. Also saw a small eel in the creek. Wonderful, thank you!

T-Tech and I are visiting Norfolk Island for our 40th anniversary. We arrived from Brisbane and are staying for 2 weeks at Endeavour Lodge, and plan to get some R&R, see all of the sites, learn the history, and gather every cache here so we can claim the Se Dun Challenge Today we had a leisurely start with a visit to the Show followed by a wander through town and a coffee at our favourite cafe. The plan for the rest of the day is to visit Bombora Beach, Crystal Pool, 100 Acre Wood, Headstone Point and St Barnabas Church, gathering caches along the way.Nobody else here and we had no trouble making the find. The nearby fungus is huge! TFTC, Mellymush dabble2899.

On holiday in Norfolk Island with StrangeTrousers. Beautiful Island. TFTC signed as DEM CBR
My wife and I spent a wonderful week on the Island - the first time for me (but hopefully not the last) and the second for her. Such a delightful place! I took my GPSr, with the traditionals downloaded (I don't really make the time to do puzzles or multis) and figured I would find a few as we went around the place. I never had any intention of finding all 41 of them, but somewhere around day 5 I realised it was actually feasible.
In the end it was a close call - one quite tough-to-get-to cache (Bird Island) I had to visit twice after not reading the description before my first visit and discovering it is really a multi and then stuffing up the calculations so I had an almost blind search for the cache; another (St Barnabas) was out of its hidey hole so took three visits before I found it among some fallen leaves nearby). But I got there and managed to claim them all.
In the interests of saving the limited data on my phone, I only look placeholder drafts during the week and am completing them back home, a month later. So with all due apologies, they are going to be pretty generic for the most part. But I will add comments about those that I particularly remember. No matter how detailed the final logs, I want to say a big thanks to those who have placed the caches and those who continue to maintain them. I had great fun finding them and they really helped make sure I saw as much of the Island as possible. So - a big and sincere TFTC

After a delightful time exploring the low tide rock pools at the Bay and finding the other nearby cache, it was time to find this one. I startled a lovely big eel in the little creek nearby before finding the rather glorious feature that gave this cache its name. Quite spectacular! An easy if slightly muddy find.

Loved the location of this geocache Mellymush dabble. It’s such a pretty little spot and the fungi was superbly beautiful and I don’t doubt it is probably the biggest I’ve seen. Sadly some bogan idiot has scratched their name into it. Why people can’t leave nature’s beauty unspoiled is beyond me. But we were still thrilled to see it. After admiring it and taking some pics we looked for the cache. It wasn’t hidden but still hard to see and we found it in good condition. We were able to sign the log on the first page. We thoroughly enjoyed this picturesque location and we were able to cross the stream without getting our feet wet so it definitely deserves a favourite point. Hopefully no more idiots scratch on the fungi and everyone can enjoy its beauty for years to come.
Exploring the island by geocaching today and found your cache. Need to add water crossing to your attributes. This area seems to be a place the locals come to. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC
Trek to it meant some muddy feet and a shoe going for a swim but found it easy enough. Definitely one heck of a fungus.
Wow. NI cache and only two previous logs. How do I get across the creek? With difficulty, and muddy boots. Found easily and admired the fun guy. More mud getting back across the creek too. Tftc.
Watawieh from Norfolk Island South Pacific.
I was off island when this cache was published. I flew back into the today and saw that the FTF was still available. With that I headed to Bumboras . First I had to work how to get across the creek. Jump, swim, or take the long way around Finally I was greeted with a blank logbook. Then it is time to admire the impressive fungi.
Thanks for adding another great cache to Norfolk Island. A well deserved favourite point from me
