What a great day!Attended Tynwald Park parkrun and enjoyed a 5km walk with stainless-steel-rat.Then we collected Lil Rafa and icybeetas and headed to Mt Field National Park to the winter feast event. We stopped at this cache along the way. Lil Rafa lead the way to GZ, icybeetas supplied the ladder, and I made the climb (albeit small) and found the cache after dodging the prickles. Thanks stainless-steel-rat for highlighting this structure that I've driven past a-plenty but never really noticed. (PS: I've never lived here).Picked up an abandoned TB and will send T-Rex on his way. Thanks for the cache, and thanks for the company.Cheers EPs
After meeting up with stainless-steel-rat, EeePees and LilRafa we arrived at GZ where EeePees made the climb and te cache was found. Thank you for the information about the loss of this bridge. It is this additional information which makes this hobby more interesting.
Thanks for the cache stainless-steel-rat.After meeting up with yourself, EeePees and Icybeetas in New Norfolk to make our way to the Winter Feast event at Mt Field, a check was made as to whether there were any caches we wanted to find on the way. The three of us - that weren't the CO - were keen to find this one, so icybeetas brought his ladder along so we could stop and search for this one.We pulled up in the parking area close to GZ and although there were a couple of cars, there were no paddlers dodging the slalom poles today. The short walk was made to GZ, the ladder was made useful, and the cache was found. The river levels were on our side today, and apart from it being a little bit slippy, we came away with dry feet.An interesting bit of history here, and a great place for a cache. A favourite from me.
Thanks stainless-steel-rat for hiding this cache. Now that my calendar and streak are completed, I can just cache for the fun of it. Your Traditional cache, Plenty of views from the old bridge, was just what I needed to get me out of the house and exercising. This is my find #1834 at 10:25 on 27/7/2024. Placed in accordance with Tasmanian Geocaching Requirements 2.01FTF: Found with: Swampy Weather: goodMuggles: none Light level: good Cache condition: good Distance from GZ: Your cache was visited by my trackables: TB9QQD2, TB9KZ39 and TB7HH81
Hi stainless-steel-rat. Today I found your cache Plenty of views from the old bridge. After a delayed start this morning, a phone call ruined the plan to go to South Arm and surrounds. Plan2A was then activated and we took off up the Derwent to go fishing and find some caches. Thanks for hiding the cache for me to find today. Finding this cache takes my GC finds to 5018 and I found it at 10:33 on Saturday 27 Jul 2024FTF: NoMates: VK7HCHMuggles: noneMy EPE: Condition: GoodWeather: overcastMy favorites:Creative - Back to the future 1 by peaches (GCA5JYD)Hardest - Men in Black Holes by SG-3 (Archived)Most visited - Dragons Lair by Shagzter (GC2E33)
Well this one was a bonus. I hadnt put it on the list for today as I had discounted it due to DT rating. Husband wanted to stop anyway to see the canoeists on the slalom, as we walked down I realized the river was low enough to make an attempt. Back to the car for the ladder and up I went, cache found quickly, signed and returned. If only this were a 3.5/5 . TFTC this was a fun find
A spot I have visited before, though not for caching and not for rock climbing! Water is down at 20 cumecs today and as Im waiting for the regular crew to show up Im grateful for something to keep me occupied. Some cachers might need a leg up and I needed to remove the work boots but fortunately for an only slightly skilled rock climber, the climb was no challenge. Cache is dry and in good condition. TNLN, TFTC.
Nice view for good climbers.
Take something leave something.
Great place for a cache!

Hello stainless-steel-rat thank you for the cache
This was a place I had researched before while looking at bridges over the river.
This afternoon I found your cache after getting a few scratches and scrapes.
Hay, but I managed to keep my feet dry.
This was one of many caches found on our way back home from Newcastle seeing our grand children.

What an interesting spot. Love how geocaching takes you to some hidden gems. Never knew this existed on the river.
Thanks for the challenge and highlighting a well hidden spot. Thoroughly enjoyed the climb and the view.
A favourite point.

TFTC. Cache and contents are in good shape. After many many years of hang up my rock climbs boots good to see I can still free climb a wall even if I don’t have the elbows for it. Lovely spot and thanks for the history lesson.
out and about caching for signal to escape, wow what a disaster for this bridge. lots of wreckage around from the other pylons, a decent height left for the last standing one to hide a cache. TFTC TNLN log dry. nice views from the top. I'Ve driven past this area too many times to remember and never knew this was here.
Now that the podium is full, I am logging my 'beta test' find. I visited GZ twice with the CO, and even visited the other side of the river too, whilst researching the best location.
Zoom back about 35 years and I had visited this are quite a few time but never ventured quite this far around. It was good to explore a little bit more of the area with SSR as the hide was done.
This cache may be out of range for a few people but those who do visit will enjoy the area and cache placement.
It's favourite point worthy for sure.
Another fun adventure

We needed to get out this afternoon for a few hours of fun after spending way too much of the weekend doing jobs around the house. It was an easy choice where to go after noticing this new hide and it didn't disappoint! It's always a nice drive too coming out this way and we timed it well considering how heavy the showers became later in the afternoon.
This is a cracking spot with interesting history and a fun but challenging hide. Certainly not easy, but an easy FP. Dropped off a couple of trackables. TFTC!
Cheers,

Wow Wow Wow
This is what old style geocaching is about
A Great location
Some unknown History
and Tricky cache to get to
Only can give one favorite point..... would give 2 if I could...
Second to find behind DeerCheetah, but silly me dated the log the 15th even though DeerCheetah had correctly put the 16th in the log book

We were at Maydena MTB Park and on our way home we wanted to see if the Cheetah could free climb the pillar.
On top it was a quick find with great views.
Absolutely beautiful along the River.
Thank you SSRat for the great placement of this cache. Definitely a favourite.
