I took a bike ride on the Mount Vernon Trail and took a detour to find this cache. What a pleasant surprise finding this area at DCA. Thanks for the history lesson. Emailing answers to CO.
We come to DC every year for a National Association of Realtors meeting. Several years ago we went by this site on the way to pick up a rental car. I did a little research then made a point the following year to make some time to explore the site.
This past year we were introduced to GCing. Now I see that there is a GC here. It is an interesting site with unique history. Thanks for bring it to our attention again.

E-mailed the answers to the CO. Found with CacheClown76 after a circuitous drive through DCA. Thx for the most interesting history lesson of Abingdon Plantation. TFTC!
#1,111. Found with 69016678 after a nice trip through the parking garages and a turn-around near the terminals. I wish we would've taken the metro as recommended by the CO. The $5.00 for parking was worth it, but the strange looks from the rental car employees were unwelcome (those dudes drive like maniacs). Answers to the proposed questions have been sent to the CO. Thanks for bringing me here. CC76... [:0)]
I went to National Airport to pick up a family member flying in from New Mexico. Their plane was delayed, so I went to find the answers to the cache. E-mail with answers sent to CO. TFTC
Heading home and wanted to catch a cache in VA before we flew out. What a great little side trip. Tftf!
Traveling around the northern part of Virginia this weekend with CM_Ranch and BillHSKC. We are working on multiple Geocaching Challenges. We camped at Burke Lake park last night. This was the 7th find of the day. TFTV!
My nongeocaching hubby and I were invited to spend 4 days in DC with my son and daughter-in-law who was going there to attend a convention. I've been to DC a few times but that was before caching so caching was my mission for this trip. I missed stopping here on my way into town so I too the metro out here special just so I could find this cache. It was well worth the trip.
Day two of our Virginia Challenges, Mission 4, Cache Run; SillyWillie (Keith Nelson), CM_Ranch (Matt Morrison) and I are hitting the Northeastern section of the state. Our base camp for the weekend is at Burke Lake Park. 7th of 30 caches found today; another interesting site that had it not been for geocaching we would never have learned of it. We did pay for parking as time was vital, using the metro would have shortened our day. Took some pictures and then we set off to find “Bikes, Boats and Planes”, the answers have been sent, TFTC
E-mail sent; grabbed before my (delayed) flight home this morning...great virtual; thanks for taking me here!
This was indeed a nice little gem, so close to DCA. I had a few minutes to spare before my homeward bound flight, and so I took a bit of a walk to visit it. The hardest part was finding the proper approach, but a high-level survey helped find the right level.
Thanks for the diversion on this nice sunny afternoon.

This was the eighth virtual I sought today as I tried to complete a challenge cache in San Antonio, Texas. Took forever to get there. Answer on the way. Thanks. #4,365
We have enjoyed our week in the DC area, but today it was time to fly back to Utah. We checked in our bags and then made our way over to this virtual. It was very interesting and the perfect way to spend some time waiting for our flight. Thanks for putting this one together for us. This was one we would not have even known about if it was not for geocaching. Email with answers on the way.
In the area with superhooper. Sure wish virtuals were still allowed. You learn so much and visit so many interesting places. Email sent from superhooper. Thanks for the visit.
Very interesting. Found. Will log find and send answers when I get home. Gets a favorite for sure.

Road the metro from Alexandria to DC to see the Cherry Blossoms and do some caching. My husband flies out of here form time to time but I would not have seen here if is wasn't for caching. My sons and I stopped by on our trip home on the Metro. Email sent. TFTC!
I've flown out of DCA on average once a month for the last 4 years and never had the time to stop by and see this cache. Great History. I love that fact that it is a maintained historic site.
Spent four days in the Washington DC area with Laura (no name) and a bunch of eighth graders during their annual trip. Got to see a lot of interesting and unique sights along the way. The virtual and earth caches really helped to amplify the experience. The kids helped out with some of the answers, so it was a learning experience for them as well. Thanks to all cache owners that took the time to create these pages. TFTC
Another 8th grade trip but this time BW got to come with. Usually we don't get to focus on a lot of geocaches but with another person and someone enthusiastic about caching we could spend some time getting these unique virtuals and earthcaches. And the kids helped! (Sorry I am so late in logging - I am horrible at this. BW emailed answers for both of us a month ago.) TFTC
Answers on the way. What a great place tiger away from the hustle and bustle of crazy world. A good 10 min in this place makes you grateful for our heritage. Nice and peaceful.
Visiting Family, from Iowa. Nice nearby diversion while waiting for my flight home. TFTC
As soon as we landed at the airport we were ready to go check out this geocache. We took our roller luggage with us while we did this geocache had so much fun. We really liked the hundreds of years of history at this site it was such a surprise. Thanks for the virtual geocache and we will send the email quickly
Great cache. I travel to DC often and never knew this was here even though I've walked right past it.
First DC cache. In town for 1 day of business and grabbed this first after my flight landed at 8 AM.
will send answers shortly.

So I walked to the airport from Crystal City, not too bad except the bags. Thought I could get to this easy enough but eventually had to do some very mj it climbing. In the end love history so very fun. The things I do to cache. TFTVC

We were flying from Washington to Niagara Falls out of Reagan Airport so we couldn’t resist grabbing one final Virtual cache. Left just about enough time to gather the info required (which has been sent to the CO) and then head over for check-in.
Thanks JoeCthulhu !! A Favourite Point from Me !

In town for a conference, decided to find this one before grabbing a cab to get to the hotel. Took a little guessing to find the right path to this well hidden location. Very interesting and historical. Glad we stopped here. Email is on the way. TFTV
I had seen references to this location in other places. I was pleasantly surprised to see how this area had been preserved and prepared for visitors while being surrounded by more modern development. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
I went after this one during my 2hr. wait to board my flight out. I was visiting from Iowa to attend the funeral of my Uncle at Arlington Cemetery the day before. Thanks for the history lesson. I am always up for learning a little something while I am waiting with nothing to do. Answers will be in soon. Thanks again.
Arrived at the airport and walked over to this one before I took the Metro to my hotel. My first Virginia cache, hope to gather some more eventually. Email sent with answers.
Thanks JoeCthulhu
Thanks JoeCthulhu
Greetings from Atlanta! I worried a lot about how we would find our way to GZ but it is easy if you return a car to DCA! Emailing answers on behalf of myself and girl_cat. Thanks!
I've been to this airport many times and did not know this was there! Kurokitty submitted the answers for the both of us. Thanks!
Visited while waiting for our flight from Washington to Toronto. A very nicely kept area and a bit more local history picked up during our trip to the US.
E-mail sent. Thanks for another virtual JoeCthulhu......

Gotcha! That is a fantastic park... I must have walked by it who knows how many times without realizing its existence... Thank you for bringing me, history, and fun virtual cache... Almost a multi virtual as I needed to read 3 signs to answer the questions... Will message this evening with the answers... TFTVC!
What a wonderful surprise, tucked away in the middle of all airport chaos! We planned an early arrival at DCA so we could grab this one before the flight. Ended up parking in the wrong area and spent most of the time allotted to enjoy the site just trying to *get to* GZ! We'll have to visit again when airlines and TSA checkpoints aren't in our immediate future. Answers sent under separate e-mail. TFTC
I loved this cache! Made a quick detour on my way home from work. I never would have guessed such a pretty place existed in the middle of the national airport. Thanks for leading me here and TFTC!
Day 27 of the 31 day challenge. What a cool location. We have been here many times but never knew this treasure was here. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Answers sent in a separate e-mail. TNLN TFTC
Due to having to return our rental car 3 hours before our flight I couldn't pass this one up!!! What an awesome treasure tucked away in such a busy place!! Thanks for bringing us here...and for helping kill some time!
I've had this one on the radar for some time and today was the day to get serious about it. Studied google satellite maps a bit before heading out and soon nystgrl and I were parked within 150 feet of GZ. Very interesting bit of history here. Email sent. TFTVC!
VIsited this virtual with HD JP. Beautiful grounds and great to know the history of this famous landmark! Sent email.
I truly appreciated the opportunity to view this cache. What an interesting place and story. I won't spoil the ending by adding anything here. TFTC.
On my way for a conference. Took the time to stop at this very interesting site. Tftc
I don't know how many times I have been through this airport and I never knew this was here. It's too bad it isn't promoted within the airport. Thanks for the history lesson and a little exercise on a beautiful day. Answers sent.
Found it at 4.00 pm with Niki&Nana when we brought Niki to the airport for his flight home to Utah. I had looked a couple times at this geocache when at the airport. Today was the day, car parked closed to the park, we couldn't resist to go for this one before returning home. Nice piece of history. Thanks for the cache.
Found this cache together with Wooter-Moose while bringing Niki to the airport to take his flight back to Utah. Nice cache!!
Found it. Always seen this place when on the metro. Got off at the metro stop and made the walk over to GZ to get the answers. Sent email. TFTC [}:)}
I am in the area from Savannah Georgia for work and of course I remembered my G P S'r so that I could feed this addition of Geo Caching. The coordinates for this cache were accurate and it did not take me too long to have the needed information or log in hand, depending on the type of cache. Thanks for putting this together and for bringing me to this area.
I grabbed this one after getting my rental car tho it did take a couple of cricuits around the airport to find the right parkin spot which turned out to be the in the parkingn garage. I then jumped a few barries and fences but I was successful
Remember, it is all about the miles and the smiles ~TFTC

Passing through Reagan National on the way home today, I had enough time to wander over here an gather the information. E-mail has been sent to CO. Thank you for maintaining this virtual in a very interesting spot. TFTC.
B-Team find while waiting for a flight south - ended up being a bit further from my departure gate than I had intended, but it was a nice walk. Interesting history associated with the location and certainly worth preserving. Email sent to confirm answers to quiz. Good Luck!
Very nice area, thanks for the visit and the cache. One of several on our caching tour of the landmarks. What a great place to cache!

Arrived at 1830. Cold!!
When I got here, I realized I'd seen this before several years ago, quite by accident. Thanks for reminding me of this location.
