Found the remnants of swag, but no container and I am certain I was in the spot. I suspect it has gone.

Sorry, it's gone. Time to free up the location for someone else to place a cache.
NOT for beginners. Searched for at least 3/4 hour with no luck and 3 searchers
Thoroughly enjoyed the walk up to this one with all the neat views we went in from the wrong seat but soon found it and came out by the right seat.cache all good.
Great view from the seat so took a photo then up to find the cache. Mr frewilys found it first tftc
My destination for today was go to the top of the Mountain. And I have done it.

Had a bit of lunch on the beach and then headed up the loop. DOC says the loop takes 30min, but we only took us 30mins all up including finding the cache (and Mum & Dad don’t move fast at 80), and taking in the view on the seat. TFTC
It was only a short way up from the beach to find the cache area. The hint was very helpful and showed us the way.
Thank you for bringing us here. We enjoyed the view down to the beach.

Out for a walk seeing it how it was such a beautiful day. Apparently I can't tell the difference between the hill at Tairui and Pauanui, but even after the mistake we just embraced it and went anyway.
On a mission with Spiderhouse today. The purpose; to collect a handfull of caches so that a challenge can be completed.
This was not as easy as the cache description suggests. In the end, three of us split up in different directions. Mr S went up, Mrs S took the middle, and I went down. The hint seat was found, but the cache was a way off. Happy to make this find. TFTC.

Out for the day with Squirrel Nutcase. We were on a mission to fill in a few caches to qualify for the 37º latitude challenge and to introduce "The Squirrel" to the wonders of the Coromandel Peninsular.
After the boys getting all the previous finds today Mrs S found this one, while they were looking in the all the wrong places. The Squirrel was hoping to be able to put a VERY LARGE TB in here but alas, it did not fit. have to find somewhere else.
Thanks tgsnoopy for another smilie around Pauanui.

Last day before heading home... four kids and I go for a trek. Sit on the seat, enjoy the view, then a forest search. Found quickly. Cicadas drone, waves crash, not a single mozzie, peaceful. Thanks!
Found after lunch today after got too dark last night. Lots of muggles, had to be very furtive. Awesome view. Fun fun, left cool trades.
We need a few minutes...the hint was a little bit confusing. Sowe are looking from the lower way, but the higher one was the better option. TFTC
After a wee wander through the undergrowth and a slight twisted ankle, we located said tree and cache, still filled with booty!! TNLN. TFTC!
Quick little walk up here after a swim below; big foot hole clue we were in the right spot! TFTC
Yes, a nice simple one before heading up the 'hill' on a lovely hot afternoon. TFTC tgsnoopy.
...while hiking the loop... we found this one... thanks, beautiful lookout here!
GP was doing a bit of a wander around so located the appropriate landmarks and soon found the cache. That great hole at GZ was me going through the rotten wood - ouch. t4tc
Great view could have sat on Tom & Pats seat for hours with a view like that.
TFTC great peace bush.

It had been possibly 20 years since I had been up this way (and Mrs Dragon had never been here),
Nice walk up the to the GZ and a quick find, liked the nearby waypoint. Thanks for bringing me here

We spent the weekend in Whitianga and picked up a few caches on the way home on Sunday afternoon. We made a quick detour into Pauanui and made a quick find of this cache. TFTC!

It was dark, we had a torch, but oh how things look different in the dark. A fun find anyway. The Italian Job was here.....!
Was on holiday with friends when we walked past this one after a long trudge up Mt. Pauanui. Didn't have my GPS with me, I couldn't remember the clue, but had a rough idea of the description. Looked around the tree, but of course, not exactly where it was. When I got back I read the clue and...FACEPALM, was looking in the right spot and everything, but not at one of the most obvious places there was. argh would have been an easy find. I will try again when I come again.
Up the track until it split off - GPS saying 'look here', but nothing to find. Checked hint, and found the seat, cache was soon in hand after that.
GPS in the end was not that far out. TFTC.

Took all the right trails to Geocache but there was no seat that I could see. Not sure about the 1 star terrain, bit hard getting a wheelchair up here.
Found it after a quick search but others might like to look 10metres down the hill from the track.

After taking the wrong track we sorted ourselves out and hunted in the right place. Found by Mr Grimdragon. TFTC!

I know I have been here years ago for this one, didn't matter had me and some new geocachers scrambling around.
At Pauanui from Tauranga for a day's tramp with the PackN'Boots group.
Straight up to the top, then down to Storm Bay for lunch and across to cave Bay for a well earned swim. Easy find, inner cache & log in good condition, outer jar a bit damp. TNLN TFTC

Looks like this cache has been around since just about the dawn of caching in this country! Remarkably clean and dry cache too. A damp old morning so go quite damp myself pushing through the last bit of scrub. But otherwise an easy find. TFTC!! Centuryson from Australia
good hide. dad was a t the wrong seat and mum was about to give up when i spotted a fallen trunk.

The girls thought that there was something wrong with the GPS when I found it and they were miles away. A beautiful view across to Paku, sat a while to soak the suns rays. T4Tsunny$ SL
Took a bit to find the correct trail. When I got to GZ I was nonplussed, so checked the hint on my GPS. It said "The cache is approximately fif". Well, that's not much help. Fifteen meters away? Fifty? Fifteen feet straight up? Undone by a verbose hint.
did this the hard way took the bottom track and was 12m out so i went bush and straight up what a mish .found easy when i had the right seat and Tks for the LOLLIES... #19 for the day choice
would of been easy if one had read the clue better-went alone bottom track to a seat -WRONG-sent the younger bori5 up the hill to find while i went the rite way -he had in hand before me got there-cheers jumboz
The same for me. So nice to find this cache, hope that somebody will adopt this one Unfortunatly we also couldn't sign the log too wet.
We had the grand daughter out for a picnic and had
time to add a few caches to our list The log book is
so wet you can not sign it.

Log is too wet to sign ... simply soaking in water. A 1/1 cache is accessible by wheelchair. This cache is at least 2.5/2.5 due to the terrain and the choice of 3 tracks to get to it. Vort.
Found this one while on a tandem cycling tour of New Zealand. Thanks very much. What an amazing spot. Vort
Glad we consulted the gps on our way down from the big hill and managed to pick this one off without any additional walking. The log is saturated to the point it crumbles when writing on it.

We were on a day trip and walk to Broken hills afterwards we saw there was some caches to do in the area so we knocked 10 off in the afternoon all nice quick finds
Great spot after I got the right track. Note that the container needs some TLC and log was quite wet. TFTC, always good to get one of these older ones.
a bit of climbing around for this one, will have to come back another day for the one at the top. Log is wet.
Will have to tackle the big hill another day, this one has a pretty wet log.
Log book dripping in water and the entire container smells very manky. Needs to be a better/drier container if TBs/coins are to be left there. Needs some maintenance. T4TC.
Didn't find bench and struggled with coords but eventually found it, more by luck than anything. Dropped off TB - TFTC
