Waited 20 minutes for a photographer to leave but he just couldn't pull himself away from the beautiful views. We will come back another time.
A lovely walk to the top and rewarded with stunning views. Pretty pleased in finding the cache too Log is a little damp but still able to complete and replace.Find #54 TFTC
What a great view and we had such a perfect autumn day for this walk.Great toys in the cache if you had kids with you, we def needed the hint to find it, we took the trackable. The log book was pretty damp but we managed to fill it in and tried to wrap it back up well.TFTC
This was a really great find early this morning. After enjoying the views for a while, I set about tracking down the cache. It was actually a straightforward find thanks to good coordinates and a good hint. The decent sized container was satisfying to find. Things are a little damp inside but there was no difficulty to sign my name. Thanks very much for the cache. FP added.
A day to myself walking the Donald McLean and Karamatura tracks.
Having stayed at Whatipu last night, this was the sensible end to start at. With my car parked I had a quick trot to the top where I was greeted with stunning views from both platforms on a glorious morning.
Once I'd taken in the views I set about my cache-finding business before any muggles came along.
For a cache as old as this, I was pleased to find the coords were spot-on and the container and log in great condition.
A great find of a true golden-oldie.
Thanks for keeping this one going.

Wish we could have seen the view but it was just grey today. Great to find an older cache! Further than we thought it would be!
First find of the day and the year! Huffing puffing and bush bashing involved! TFTC
Out today caching with Gernita. There are quite few in this area so we parked a car at either end for a 6km one way trip. This was our first for the day
Crikey what a mission! This was my last cache of the day. As i walked up the path from the carpark, about 20x young adults were coming down. I wondered how many others would be at the summit.
Met another 2x walkers coming down but when i got to the summit, only one person & he was just leaving.
Had no idea on the hint, my gps had been 17m out all day, so in i plunged & wandered around & around till i found what i was looking for. Phew. Found this one tricky to find. Delighted to get this 20yr old cache.
Logbook is damp but still able to be signed.

A solo excursion for Mr Coblet
I had the day off work and was keen to head over here and explore the area.
This was my first find of the day and what a great way to start, great views, no people and beautiful weather.
After admiring the view I checked the hint and headed off to look for the cache.
After avoiding a few spiders webs I soon made a quick find.
I notice that this cache reached its 20th anniversary a couple of weeks ago, hidden way back in 2002. Not many last for as long as this and it's great to see it still in such good condition.

I had joined Team SEAC for a nearby FTF mission and after completing that trail (from the Karamatura car park to this one) we had to add one more, especially given its age. I wasnt particularly comfortable straying off the track as much as we needed to, but given we had washed our boots well on the way in from the car park, I risked it. I managed to walk straight past this and it was Keylev that spotted the cache and subsequently signed us in as Team SEAC. Was amazed to see a 20 year old logbook still intact. They dont make em like they used to, back in the good ol boys daysof the early 2000s? Took a couple of team photos nearby (added one here). Thanks for the singalong cache!
A long weekend and the usual Team SEAC adventure had been planned by Keylev starting to day. The idea was for a convoy of cars to head up north walk a reginal park while grabbing some caches. On my way to Keylev's place this group of FTF's were released NOT where we were going. When I arrived at Keylev's immediately muted the idea of changing plans and heading for these FTFs. Knowing Keylev had spent a lot of time organising todays adventures I didn't want to appear to bossy HOWEVER with the number of FTFs going we just had to. Trouble was people were already in cars heading to the organised walk. A quick video chat with all participants and everyone agreed FTFs were the way to go.So we all changed direction and headed to the start for an eventual day. The logs were signed as Team SEAC including HeMaLuDy, Stik-a-Crane, NurseDr, Keylev, UncleSamNZ, Cragger, BrowneHornet, Liverkiwi, @McArgister and B4Dawn meaning a huge group FTF list for these caches!Having finished the trail of FTF's we couldn't not chase these in the immediate area. Keylev found after a bit of a bushbash.TFTC
Out with Team SEAC for the day looking for caches. Got the message from NZTravellers for a sudden place change as his these FTFs turned up. Made our way out here to begin the trail.
Thanks for the cache

Awesome view!
Out with Team Seac for another day of adventures. We weren’t planning on coming this way, we had another full day planned elsewhere, but while enroute we got the alerts of some new caches, and we couldn’t take the opportunity to miss these….so we changed our google maps while driving and found our new destination.
Sorry for the generic logs. Thank you for taking the time to place this cache.
This was the last log for our walk...but not the last log for the day by a long shot....more caches to find!
Out with KeyLev, HeMaLuDy, Stik-a-crane, NZTravellers, LiverKiwi, NurseDr, B4Dawn, @McArgister. All logs signed “Team Seac” or similar to save log paper.

Labour Weekend has historically been a minimum 3 day Team SEAC all out adventure so a little while ago I started planning some fun for us. Today was all set for a walking day up north but as we were leaving the house the notifications started coming through....quick team lets head in an alternative direction....its a Mega Mysterious Weekend after all!!
After some video calls to ensure everyone knew the correct meeting spot, a quick car shuffle, an additional team member joining at last minute - it was an impressive pull into the carpark for McArgister, we were hot on the trail.
After taking in the views we turned to searching. I made the find a little further off track than first imagined. Was pretty cool to read how people used to log with their full log in the book rather than just a signature.
Thanks for the cache.

Was just about to set off for an adventure up North with Team SEAC when a flurry of publications flooded the in box....within minutes chatter spiked up, and a video chat started about attempting the FTF's on this group of caches, and with a few of us keen on this option the plan changed, and we headed over to our new destination, which was also 10mins closer....
Arriving at the designated parking spot, we decided to drop a car at the end to enable us to carry on caching the area after the trail completion, but as we drove we noted the increase in elevation....discussed changing our starting point, enabling the trail to be more down hill, but decided that we might loose the FTF potential......
Once back to the starting point, and all participants had arrived, we set out on the trail.....
At the end of the trail we decided to trek up to this one to check out the views......and very glad we did as they were awesome.....

In the absence of a MEGA event this Labour Weekend, Keylev had spent some time planning a Mega Mysterious Weekend for members of Team SEAC (a group of cachers from south and east Auckland who often cache together). Today's plan was to head north, but as we left home the notifications of new caches on this trail came through and we made a quick change of plans. In the group today is HeMaLuDy, Stik-a-Crane, NurseDr, Keylev, UncleSamNZ, Cragger, BrowneHornet, Liverkiwi, B4Dawn, @McArgister.
After finding all of the caches on the track up from the bottom, we had to head up to the lookout here for the views and just one more cache (on this track anyway - we carried on after this and cleared out quite a few more caches in the area. This was a bit further off the track than anticipated but with so many people searching it was soon in hand. Amazing views here.

Found with Team SEAC while out on a long weekend mega adventure. Bit of a bush crash to find. Amazing views. TFTC
Wandering out in this area today and I had always wanted to come up here.
Drove up to the car park and took the little walk up and enjoyed the views!
Found the cache sort of randomly and then back up to the viewpoint.
Uh oh…nows there’s a rain cloud! Time to go!
Thanks for placing this here nearly 20 years ago! It was nice to see the old logbook still inside! I cleaned up a few pieces of rubbish inside the cache, it’s a bit tidier now.

Out here with the AUTC today, and I really wanted this one, both for my Jasmer and elevation stats. 3 of us gave it a go with no luck, even though the hint is really specific. There was just no sign of a subtle track, and I didn't feel so good about going too far off the path because of Kauri dieback in the area.
If anyone is coming up here and wants to get this cache... or knows where it is and wants to come back... let me know

Wow amazing lookout! So glad I found my way here! Log a little damp but otherwise cache in great condition. From map it looked like a little parking area and cache not far off so I heading up in jandals and a takeout coffee in hand. Admittedly not the best choice for the terrain but I managed to get through TFTC brilliant
Out here tramping with Vistra. A beautiful day for our trek and some stunning views. A few muggles around as the track was quite busy. No issues here. TFTC
Wow... That was a quick find and log...

What a great spot to visit!!! The road was a bit iffy, especially the mud in the car park, but a nice walk and a great cache to find. TFTC!!!
First cache of the day. Good to see this track open to public! Awesome views not too fat from GZ. Really enjoyed my small stroll here. And this is nice old cache! Hats off! FP for being so old! And for location. T4TC! FP
I've been meaning to do this cache for ages and as I was in the area I made the decision to head on up the hill. A young family with a couple of dogs preceded us up the nice new trail but they stopped to admire the view so we got to the top first and disappeared down into the bush to search for the cache. Phone signal wasn't great so we were walking in circles a bit then one of the dogs bounds down into the bush and starts barking at us. I'm sure the owners must have wondered what we were doing! Thankfully the dog ran off when called just as the cache was spotted. It's nice to finally have a smiley on this old one
This was a tricky one as the GPS on the phone wasn‘t working that great down there.
But found it anyway in the end.

Loved finding this one! Took a bit of hunting around in the bush. Then walked back to the car to discover id lost my car keys! Think i left them at the cache so had to go back up the hill and try to re-find the cache. Only this time I couldnt find it. Found my car keys on the forest floor somewhere near the elusive cache
Temporarily disabled to support the Waitakere Rahui (http://tekawerau.iwi.nz/node/13), in an effort to prevent the spread of Kauri dieback disease.
Came up with Granny so she could try her new camera while I got to play with her old one. Granny knew where to look so I had an easy find. Nice walk.
Third one ever. Great views from up here. Such a beautiful spot. My wife and daughters are loving the walking and exercise. A wonderful family activity.
Out with supernanny to collect this grand old cache. Despite the recent weather the track was in excellent condition. Such a beautiful winters day, amazing views. GPS had us searching a bit off course, but after piecing the hint piece by piece gz and the cache were located. Great to see these original caches still maintained.
Urbangypsynz was keen to get this cache...as it is an oldie !
I was happy to tag along on such a lovely day !
Was worried there might be a hill involved , but no; almost a park and grab !
Lovely views here .
Was having trouble finding it at first....investigated a few possibilities....but then UGNZ was soon calling out she had found it !
Phew....
Thanks tofska

Beautiful day to be out geocaching and after a short walk up to GZ we had spectacular views out to the coast. Bit of scramble soon rewarded us with the cache. Tftc, Happy Waitangi Day
Went up here after a bbq down at Huia. Wonderful view just before sunset. This is always a great spot. Tftc
Last find for the day, with batteries failing on the GPS, Gorby went to get the new batteries from his bag, but before he had got back to his bag, I called out I had found it. Thanks for the hint, although I did check a couple of decoy hint items before I found the right one.
Great views from the summit today, only a short wait for the muggles to move on. Lots of photos taken, and the Manukau was a vivid sea of blue. Thanks for the hide, and bringing us here

7 of us had done 'Paratutae Island' and 'Susan's Friend Ryan' caches at Whatipu, then we did an earth cache as well so by now many of the seven are a leavin' and going home for a well earnt rest! But myself and rustynz weren't faring too badly and with a certain amount of determination we came here and did a nearby cache 'View Me'. But by the time we have crawled up here, we too were well knackered, I can tell you!
This is certainly the last cache for the day. When we got up here, there were a few muggles, but we waited them out with a few fotos we took of the harbour etc. The last time I was up here, it was sooo foggy, I could barely see 3 meters! My flamin' GPS died just as I was about to do a search for the cache, but I had a fair idea where the cache could be before it died. But my ever persistent partner rusty found the cache before I had a chance to reload the batteries! Good on her! She took a foto too.

Came by this one today with evilno9 to scratch it off my list. Nice walk to GZ but no view yet as it was still very cloudy. TFTC
I was trying to reach Muriwai beach from another way than the beach itself... but no way ! I was stopped by private properties, hunters, closed gates and defence areas... Maybe in summer time it's possible but this was definitely not the day for this !
It's pretty far from Auckland, so I enjoyed discovering the surroundings as I was there !
I'll head step by step down, up to the Waitekere Ranges and to Te Huia area.
Nice road and walk up to this summit. the view is awesome !
All is in good condition.
Thanks for the cache.

Visited back in June on a family trip - forgot to log at the time. Was with Dad (Kiwicavedweller)
Great views from up there! Not clear enough to see all the way to the Naki today. Up here with the kids after staying at Huia Lodge for family function.
What a view! The location is splendid Did some trees before found the right one. Tftc
An enjoyable short walk up to the lookout, impressive vista. Good size cache. TFTC.
Found it.
It was a little bit hard because I was using a cheap smart phone, so the GPS was not working very well,
But we found it anyway.

Came over from Oz for some family business and had some spare time so I thought I would look for some caches. This is a great location with awesome views for 360 degrees and worth the drive. Found the cache and signed the log. Left a tourist information pamphlet from my location in NSW. TFTC.
Awesome view been here a few times before but never bothered checking for a cache. Nice easy find don't venture too far.
Not too hard to find this. In fact its camo is worn and it was almost something of a beacon when you were looking at it. So we made sure that it was a little less obvious. Lots of trash around which we removed.
heading down early to knock off some particularly caches before the main event of the day... thought we would take a quick side show ( "got plenty of time") to finally be bothered walking up the track ( fresh instead of the past technique already changed after a days hiking".... quick early morning stride to the summit and cache in hand.. turns out we didnt have enough time..( where did it all go?)
We came up to have a look at the view but it was too cold and cloudy. There was a brake in the clouds and we guessed where the airport was. That's when I said casually that there was a cache around if we wanted to do something and my group decided to help:-) so we have now one first find for KCP34, a fifth for Robv NZ and a work in progress for 2 friendly mugles . We decided to go back to Whatipu by the bush rather than the coast line to be more sheltered. tftc
I was in the area and having visited this location before I knew it would be a worthwhile place to return to. It was a little bit of a hunt which made the eventual find feel well earned. After the find I took a moment to enjoy the vista which was absolutely fantastic. TFTC tofska!
Out with a mate from the uk, showing him the sights and introducing him to geocaching! Tftc
Great view, quite a quick one to find. Found trackable W688QM so taken to try and help it on its global trip!
Awesome views from up here even before dusk.
Had a fantastic day at Whatipu - thanks for being part of it with your cache.
Left a TB. Cheers.

Headed up here with stretch.kerr after the Whatipu campout. It was a first time up here for the both of us. Enjoyed the walk and amazed by the 360º views! Great place for a cache and an old one at that! A fairly quick find and log signed before getting caught out by oncoming muggles at the lookout. TFTC!
First time up here, and loved the views. Impressed to find the cache has been active for over 10 years! Tftc.
Found yesterday - amazing spot. Went after work so it was quite late and getting a bit darker when we got back to the car. Found it with a flat tyre and, checking there was no signal in such a secluded spot, had the thought "this is exactly how horror movies start!" Lucky for us, though somewhat anticlimactic for the story, changed it pretty quickly and made our way. Cache was in a neat little spot - tftc (esp leading us to that view!)
Another leg stretcher for us on the way to the Whatipu BBQ Campout. Magnificent Views. Found after a while. SL. TFTC.
First cache of the day on way to 'Waitangi at Whatipu' event. I think I came up here as a kid, but can't remeber it, so all was new.
Lovely day but with the Ausi fires, visability not a clear as it could be, but could see where I'd come from and where I was going. TFTC

Great views over the area.
It was a bit hazy today so no Mt Taranaki for us today.
No problems with the find, walked right to it (OK, hint helped a bit)

Was coming back from some FTF on the Gibbons track and thought I would try for another cache but was cutting it fine as I had to pick my daughter up from work had a poke around but lots of logs around and GPS all over the place have to come back another day.
Great hiding place. It took a while for us to find. Our gps gave us lots of conflicting data. The dog was thrilled to go bush. Flynn found this one.
Yes, the levy was dry! It was quite hard to find after drinking whiskey in Rye with some good ole boys (only kidding). I must admit though, I had sung through the chorus a couple of times before I connected the cache name and the location name - nice one. TFTC
This is a fun cache to get and is in a good location. It's easy to get there with your Chevy, but still not an obvious placement. Also while you’re up there, check out the levy, but you might find it dry.
Out for a late night stroll down a couple of bush tracks, and after bidding goodnight to evilno9 and snakelion, lostcourse convinced me to head up and find this one with him. Probably one of few, if any, night finds on this one . Great views in both directions from the top under the full moon. Wasn't at all sure what right angles means at the summit, but we followed our noses, and GPS devices, and they took us straight to the cache with pretty good accuracy! Well worth it for the view at night from here. TFTC!!!
After bagging a couple of nearby FTFs I managed to convince FMZ to grab this one, with only a moderate amount of badgering, on the way home. After assurances from snakelion and evilNo9 that it was only a five minute walk we were off. And to be fair to FMZ, he didn't complain about the short, if a little steep, walk the entire way...just most of it...and he managed to only overtly threaten me with murder on the one occassion.
Still, the views from the top, even (especially?) at night made it all worth while. And who doesn't like to find a cache on top of a friggin Mountain?! Nice quick find once we stopped debating 90 degree angles and followed the GPSr to the obvious GZ.
Cheers for the cache!

Headed out for my birthday today, exploring the area between Titirangi and Whatipu.
A lovely day for the walk up the mountain and some beautiful views from up here also.
Briefly looked in the wrong spot for the cache, then realised we were pretty much standing on it, just on the wrong side of the log!

Out with Greenblat, mattyandjax, SnakeLion & Little Red Hood to collect a few caches in the Waitakeres. This was our first cache for the day and as we approached the summit we interrupted an Islamic muggle doing his daily prayers. We quietly headed down the track and found the hint item. Cache was quickly found. Great views from both lookouts. TFTC.

Out for a walk with Rosmar, Greenblat, Snakelion and Littleredhood. First cache of the day, a nice little warm up for things to come, although it didn't really prepare us for what was waiting for us later on........
