Logs
23 November 2024 11:30Had to leave dalerious to make it right to the top on this one as reach was a factor. I get annoyed as so many monkey climbs cater for taller individuals, but I will get as far as is safe for me, and then my taller better half goes the rest of the way.I probably would have made it if we carried the ladder which would have got me past the gappy section. Thanks for the cache KDosVerH123
Climbed and signed @11:37am with catnap777.Up up up we go. It got a bit sketchy at the half way mark, but with that overcome by half of the party, our names made it into the logbook right below the trio here before us. TFTTreeClimb KDosVerH123 & heybuddha. [^] These ones are among our favourite kind of crazy adventures.
As the previous logs indicate, there is one section at about 6 metres that is very difficult, Fortunately we had one Muzza who was tall enough to negotiate it.
There was a tricky bit a third of the way up that our special TOTT in the form of Muzza conquered. Alansee was on logistics. It was a real team effort. Thanks for placing the cache KDosVerH123.
After the CITO this morning, Alansee, McLookers and I headed out for a day of caching. Once the appropriate tree was found, McLookers gave it her best shot, but a large gap in branches proved too difficult to overcome, so it was my turn to try. Being a little taller, I managed to overcome the obstacle and found the cache, signed it, then returned safely to the ground. My thanks for the cache, KDosVerH123 & heybuddha.
With a day off work, it was the perfect opportunity to grab a few hides. Na'wal had to make the trip into Geelong, so we joined forces today. The weather was quite chilly for most of the day, but luckily one of us had the foresight to wear long pants... It turned out to be a successful day, even though there were a few DNF's thrown onto the mix.We were looking forward to tackling this one, 8 metres off the ground ?? .... yeah nah All the previous finders are obviously better climbers than us !! Thanks for bringing us to this cool little area though.
Interesting to note that this is classed as a cache that you don't need experience in climbing. I've done a few tree climbs and there was no way I was going up 15m or so to get this one. We saw the cache but once you get to the 6m or so mark, there are branches about 1in thick to pull your whole-body weight up and onto to keep going. No thanks - this one now on the ignore list.
Had to wait for the CITO group to depart. TFTC . Too scared to let go to sign it though, it was way higher than I expected. Even standing on the boards didn't help
I'm a bit late with the log, but we did this as part of the CITO extravaganza! Thanks heaps, KDosVerH123, and thanks too Neville Devil!(sorry - corrected the date)
10:35After the completion of the Waurn Ponds Creek CITO, we made our way to the Tradies Pine. We surveyed all aspects of the tree and were so very fortunate to have a very skilled elevation ToTT with us today as part of the group, so our name is now in the log book.Thank you to %Name for placing this cache.36963
On a few occasions I had sat in my truck waiting to get unloaded at the big green shed over the fence and looked up at this cache.Today we were on a different mission. A get together next door followed by a CITO along this section of the creek. As nirgalagrin and I opted for an anti-clockwise loop of the area, we soon arrived here.A fair amount of trash was cleaned up at the base so it is a nice tidy spot, for now. After the trash was collected and the morning tea enjoyed we came back here with a few friends to tackle this climb. That's a fair distance from the ground. You may need to get your tape measure recalibrated.Thank you both for putting caches out for our enjoyment.
10:32Well, this is an interesting way to celebrate a successful CITO. About an hour ago, n0w0rries and I cleared some rubbish from beneath this cache. And here we are again, with the rest of a small group, mounting an operation to get our names in the log. Thanks, KDosVerH123. That's a butt-clenching distance from the ground.#8846
We had been eyeing this one off for a while, waiting for a still day with no rain to make the find. Prospekt Industries was a favourite of ours back when we first came to Geelong. This one had a bit of a tricky maneuver at one point but long arms and legs helped. Could even spot the famous hammer from the cache spot. TFTC and glad to get back down in one piece.
Well Im not going to write a DNF, as Im pretty sure from previous logs I was just not high enough and was not willing to step on a branch smaller than the diameter of my arm 6m above the ground without some back up gear. Ive had too many bad experiences in the bush with that, even though this is not a gum tree. Couldnt actually see it, but probably still needed to be higher. Oh well
Late log but was up the tree with Neville Devil, Sims_family, Suscoe and Bushfire. This climb was very high up, about 6m it was pretty difficult but got there in the end, and eventually got the sign on the logthank you for the adventurePika 19/1/24
Now that is a high climb. There was a particular tricky bit around 6 ish metres but once past that it is a bit easier except for the fact that each branch you are getting higher. Neville_devil was up in a flash but forgot the pen so it was up to me to bring it up to him.I think the CO needs to re evaluate his estimating skills. We think it is closer to 15m than 8m, We even went back to the car to get our fishing pole that is 9m an the hide is around 6m above it at full extension.Thank you KDosVerH123 for the excitement
Thanks to KDosVerH123 for this hide.It was late in the day when this group visit to Climb Time: Tradies pine happened. It was delightful to be there with the Sims_family, Bushfire, Quickhealer2 and Neville_devil. It is a very long way up!A pleasant way to spend the late afternoon with good friends at a cache.
I had planned to catch up with The_Tritonz earlier in the week owing to being in town for some other business, however after my plans changed I made some last minute arrangements to spend Saturday down in G-troit instead. We stopped by this cache on our journey. A rather high and sketchy climb at points. Thanks KDosVerH123 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy. Was definitely a lot higher than 8 meters. Luckily I was with someone that isnt scared of heights
TFTC
Should that even be allowed! Some serious potential for something to go wrong! Certainly should come with a little more notice around the risk! Found and logged nonetheless!

Catching up on some caching while on holidays and just realised this one is disabled so better finally get my log in.
When this was first published I was out the car and straight to GZ within a matter of minutes as I was due to pick up groceries soon. Soon enough we had company and the younger cachers watched on from terra firma while the adults ascended. We got to the height the cache page suggested, looked around and pondered our options. We didn’t manage to spot the cache let alone get to it. After a good 10-15 minutes we farewelled our new friends and went about our afternoon. Whilst we were at coles waiting for our groceries to come out the call came in from DonutHoles and Ausfox; to see how we went. They were en route so I organised to return to GZ as we would drive past it on the way home anyway.
By the time we arrived Ausfox; had already as ended and wasn’t far off needing a space suit as he was well above where we terminated our previous attempt. Not the craziest climb i’ve seen Ausfox; pull off, but it was certainly up there. One of the quickest DNF avenges we have ever had, under an hour after we had given up on getting the {*FTF*} we were back and in the log. TFTC.

Last time the geo monkey tried this the tree was wet so we left it for a safer time. Today needing a cache for the latest souvenir challenge we headed back to check out the tree. We could see the cache from the ground so it was just a matter of using the branches like a staircase. It’s not a 3.5 Terrain as this climb is at a minimum of 10 metres could be more. A stupid dangerous climb but we couldn’t resist anyway.
Thanks KDosVerH123 for the placement.

Spent a good 20 mins over 8m in the tree but to no avail. Hopefully we can return.

Had a bit of a scrounge around with some help from another local cacher.
Unfortunately no luck today.
Will be back.

I was surprised to see two DNF’s on this cache after it was published.
So while I was out, I took a detour to have a look and met up with Donutholes and BCFM.
I climbed to what I thought was 8m but no cache until I looked up and spotted something the same height again, but wasn’t sure it was the cache until I was able to get closer. Trying not to drop anything while signing the cache was a challenge, but achieved with Joint [FTF] names in the log.
Log replaced as found.
I believe the Terrain rating could be increased to at least 4 as I believe the height is higher than suggested.
Thanks for the cache KDosVerH123 and heybuddha

Well that was some excitement for a Saturday afternoon! Cache page stated it was 8 metres, looked/felt higher for sure. One of the trickier 3.5T I have taken part in.
Happy to get the joint *FTF* here. Good to see some more caches land in Gtown
Thank you
