After patiently waiting for walkers to disappear, I looked, I found and signed this one. TFTC!
Beautiful spot with a great view of the Mt! Up here on a work trip with M.potts thought we would nab a couple before we have to leave!TFTC!
I finally timed this one right with no people fishing. Knew what to look for so quick find between people walking past, thanks for the cool find
Had a bit of a look around but with a young fisherman only a couple of metres away I couldn't have a really good look in all the spots I wanted to check. Probably easier if the weather was miserable! Thanks JoeyGEO.
I have the week off work so have come up to Taranaki for a couple of days or so for caching, tackling the Forgotten Highway and hopefully finally knocking off the E174 challenge that I signed some years ago. There was a fisherman patched on the other end of the pontoon so I don't think he took any notice of6f me, even when I was performing acrobatics to spot the little blighter tucked away in there. Another case of "oh god don't drop it" but all was well. All good here and TFTC.Find #6543 at 19 March 2024 6:49 pm
We had a walk along the breakwater taking in the views and the sun. Here we were aware there were several people at GZ swimming and fishing. We were not able to search so as we do, we asked the family ( who had gear all over GZ) if they had heard of geocaching, one had so we did a bit of explaining and we were given the go ahead to search - however despite a lot of looking and feeling we did not find this one. DT rating does suggest an easy-ish hide / find, but we failed todayTim and Viv - ddm
We are camping at Belt Road and popped down to grab this one. Lucky for us there was no-one around. We had a thorough look, even lay down to get a better view but no luck. The GPS said look here not there so not sure if it has gone on a long sea voyage or we were looking in the wrong place!!
Staying in the near by Belt Rd campground so it was a nice even stroll out here to get this one before fish and chip and back to the camp.

We walked the plank on cold and windy day. Definitely added to the adventure!
Seeing that LNM1961 was having trouble finding the cache, I too walked the plank. And laid down, more like sprawled out, as that was the only way I felt I could hunt for the cache without falling into the water. Thankfully there weren’t too many people around to wonder and ask what I was doing. Eventually I felt the cache - now to make sure I didn’t flick it into the water -I let LNM1961 do the signing of the log while I enjoyed the sunshine and hoped a seal (we saw a few today frolicking in the water) didn’t jump up in to the plank near/on me. If that happened, I would have rolled over, and, of course, rolled into the water. That is something I did not want to do it
After driving here, there and everywhere yesterday, today we decided to cache in the city.
Out and about with LNM1961 revisiting Taranaki and collecting caches.
Kia ora rawa atu for the cache JoeyGE0.

We all walked the plank today to check this out, a few fishermen were here to, but they were a bit further along. It took 3 pairs of eyes to try and find the elusive blighter, and we were so pleased when NZ_B caught the prized fish. We are enjoying caching in the Taranaki region.
Had a spare hour so decided to find some geocaches, and this was on the list. Despite it being dark I knew the location well so it was a wander dodging the puddles. Once at GZ I had some ideas it was just lookingnin all directions for a find. TFTC
While i am up in New Plymouth i wanted to locate a few of the newer caches up here and these two on the breakwater where just waiting to be visited . so in between the showers i walked out along the break water . the first being this one , which was fairly easily located , more by touch than by sight . and i then headed along to the next cache at the end .
i took nothing and left nothing except a photo which i will log later , all was well with the cache . Thank you for this newer cache up here in new Plymouth .

We walked past at first cause there was a muggle fishing and did the other cache first, we came back, and straight away the muggle knew what we were doing, next minute the muggle had a penguin on his line, so he was able to release it, so while Nicolas was looking, I was watching the penquin swimming around catching little fish, after about 10 minutes we walked away, next minute the muggle yelled out he had found it, he put it back and before long, Nicolas had it in his hand, very clever, gets a fav point from me
Success on second attempt! This time with company. Reminded again why I'm not too keen on being all at sea!! Even the gentle rocking made me very aware of the narrowness of this "plank". A good cache, joeyGEO. TFTC
Back today for another attempt on this cache. Only two fishers here at this hour, but they paid us no mind as we created distractions. Quick find and we three signed as joint {2TF} and replaced. All good here. TFTC and another chance for a walk.
Came back for this on a quiet day and had no problems apart from no sea legs thanks for the placement joeygeo TFTC
(FTF) Decided to hit this one after dark as there would be next to no fishing down here then! Was super scary for me down here as I’m not keen on the sea and especially jetties that MOVE with the waves. Very glad I didn’t have the kids with me and had the support or Mr Muggle instead. He’s the one who got down and dirty and found it while I clung on with knees buckling for dear life!! (It’s really not that bad) TFTC
This is the Lee breakwater, not THE Breakwater. The Lee breakwater was built in my lifetime, around late 1960’s. The wide coastal walkway track from Belt Road used to be a road the heavy trucks and equipment used around the clock supplying the reclamation material.
