An excellently crafted night cache, which was one of the targets of tonights caching run, in between drop off and pick up for some other late-night escapades. Having signed a night cache-oriented challenge a while back, all night caches have been on our radar, particularly as they are a relatively rare thing in Canberra. Tonight we finally got around to getting down south for some caching by torchlight (and the fairly bright full moon), and it was well worth the trip. No issues following the thoughtfully placed reflectors, especially with TikvaNZs super torch to hand. It took a bit of time and wrangling (should have brought my tweezers!) to extract the final coordinates at the penultimate waypoint, but was smooth sailing after that. A lovely moonlit night for a walk in a reserve we will have to come back and explore in daylight. Thanks Aquilus1 . --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their long lasting, and ongoing connections to land, sea and community. We (the pants people) pay our respects to Traditional Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
#4845 Clearly one of our main goals as we traversed the mountainous terrain with torches in the darkness.Made a pretty late decision to do this cache this evening with good weather and a long weekend. DeadThief and Scaphoid joined in to become a trio of adventurers. No problems following the trail with clear markers on a well set out trail. With the final piece in hand it wasnt long before we reached GZ and added our names. Thanks A1 for taking the time to prepare and maintain this night cache. Enjoyable to attempt one fully intact.
I jumped at a last-minute offer from Turtle284 and DeadThief to join in on this night adventure, particularly because I live fairly close by so it was an easy trip for me. The markers are really well set up and very easy to follow which made for a very enjoyable experience. It also made me realise I need a better torch...Thank you Aquilus1 for setting up such a well-maintained and fun night cache, fav point from me!
Found with isopeda and my Air Scouts whilst doing the night cache tonight on Mt Stranger. Huge thanks to the CO for their assistance with my risk assessment. Lovely walk with huge big reflectors that will not go missing, that's for sure! Straight forward multi and a fun find at GZ. We added swaps for the next finders. TFTC A1!

Geobash Easter Mega - Day #1 (Maundy Thursday 28/3)Day one of my mega trip started with a very early wake up and with a leaving time of 5:22am. This is so I could get to my first of three (pre-registered) tours over the weekend which was at Parliament House (on time). It was a great tour and I learn/saw lots which I hadnt seen before. Of course we also found the caches nearby. Once the tour was over we went our separate ways. For myself, I went to check in at the mega site. Got all my goodies and even bought a Geobash Bucket Hat. Afterwards, I went with a couple of others to find the nearby Letterbox. Afterwards it was time to head to the nearby event (GCAKGK0). It was a great event for everyone to catch up. I ducked off early and found the nearby caches. I then went and got ALs plus saw some suspicious characters getting dinner. They invited me to tonights Mt Stranger tour. So of course I had to go. It was great fun walking around and find the night cache as well as others nearby. TB visit. If the cache wasnt signed as JohnoMawbs, it was signed as JM or as the tour group name. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTEs & TFTCs Signed as STG. This cache was one of those we found while on the tour. I don't get to find too many night caches due to living in an area that don't have any (except about 4 which I have already found). It was a nice walking track and it was really easy to follow the markers along the way. Soon we found ourselves at the final WP getting GZ coordinates. Off to GZ we went and soon enough we were at GZ. A nice quick find and soon it was signed and replaced. Another great find to add to the list and of course a FP given. Now off to the next one.

Day 2 of my magnificent mega caching experience in Canberra and surrounds.Today I C Nothing, meme28, geotrakka, Burns345, neva2old & I (signing as WA6) focussed more on the central Canberra area with a couple of tours booked at Parliament House & the Australian War Memorial, was fantastic to see these places and meet caches from all over the place too.The evening was spent on another mega tour at Mt Stranger.Once again a great variety of cache types and containers were located and with a large group the competition to get hands on the log first was high, with plenty of laughs along the way too. Thanks Aquilus1 for placing Stranger Night Cache for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at 20:42 on 28/3/2024.This is find number 8410 for me.
Very happy to be here for my first Mega event from WA. Out on a night adventure woohoo! Signing as STG ( stranger tour group)My personal aim is to try and boost my numbers to hit my next milestone whilst here. Many thanks Aquilus1 for placing this hide for me to find and adding to my adventures.
Mount Stranger Tour Group - night tour. There were some new and familiar faces tonightWandering along with torchesCache found with no issues. Cheers
The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Tonight we joined the Mt Stranger Night Cache Tour led by the lovely CO. Armed with torches we all set off on this fairly easy walk up, over and around Mt Stranger, following the very well set up reflectors and stopping to find caches we passed along the way. A most enjoyable way to spend the evening. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us and adding to our enjoyment.
We came to Canberra for the Geobash Event and couldn't resist booking some of the great tours on offer. Tonight, one of us took part in the wonderfully guided Nightcache Tour. Following the bright and shiny markers we found several caches on the way - this was the main price and focus of our tour; signed as STG.Thanks Aquilus1 for the guided tour and the cache
Caching from WA west coast to ACT for 2 megas. TFTC. An excellent night time wander. Really well done.
Great HideThanks Aquilus1 for the cacheJames0116Wednesday, 27 Mar 202410:05:47pm AEDT4175
A FP for sure! Creative and well executive night cache, and great tour thanks Aquilus1 & dty73 Found on the Capital GeoBash Mt Stranger sample night tour. Fun night with lots of wonderful people! TFTC & tour, was great to try something different!
No shortage of bright lights to keep us on the path. Some well laid out night trail clues made this lots of fun. An enjoyable evening walk around the reserve picking up caches on the practice night tour. A great way to spend Saturday night. Thanks for bringing me along. A favourite point for sure!
A great night out set up by Aquilus1 with 21 people on the night trial sampling the tour ready for the Capital GeoBash.Plenty of banter and well placed caches for the night. The visitors will really enjoy the walkable hills , reflectors , array of caches and wildlife.Well done to Aquilus1 for the well placed caches and night cache set up.
After an afternoon in the sub terrain, this evening we joined one of the sample tours and wandered with a number of others. There were roughly 20 odd teams who wandered the hill tonight in the dark. Following the lights, we made our way along the designated route collecting caches along the way. A well put together nightcache multi. No issues with the caches along the route. Thanks heaps for the tour Aquilus1
We spent earlier in the day down in the tunnels with a group of people, then it was time to spend the evening in the dark with another group of people. We put our hands up to join this night Geobash sample tour. Which was a great walk in the dark with torches shining every which way. There was no issues with any of the caches along the way being we had the CO with us. All were found and signed as a group. This one gets a favourite point from us, a very well lit up path both to and from GZ.Thanks for the hide and the night tour walk Aquilus1
Love the work and effort put into this. What a great night and lots of fun walking with everyone. Thanks for getting me out and about Aquilus1
Today was a day in a few very separate parts. I was really happy to have a slow start to the day, I have not had a sleep in on a weekend for some time now. The mid afternoon was a fairly short notice tunnel trip. Having a asked about interest between some people, the group grew as people invited people, and in the end there were about fifteen names that were being logged as Tunnel Terrors. There was a lot of walking involved and I was happy to have a bit of time afterwards to rest at home before heading down to Fisher for the evening event, which tick me out of the rain in Belconnen. The final activity was the test run of the Stranger Hill night tour with twenty one people walking up and over the hill following the reflector trail and serval caches along the was. All in all a late night for me, but a great day. I joined this walk along with heaps of others and enjoyed the walk. There where heaps of reflectors and there was no doubt on where to go, a far cry from some of the very early night caches I attempted. There was plenty of discussions as we went which made for a quick walk. The final co-ordinates were found and we headed up to the cache. Images for those who want them taken and the walk continued back to the cars, taking in some more caches and LABs as we went. Definately time to head home. Thanks for the cache Aquilus145517.5 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2013 Extincor Draconis A#251**Albida**
#9111 Tonight iplod65 and I joined a trial night-tour of the caches on Mt Stranger. We had to drive through a heavy storm past the airport so we wondered how it would turn out. We need not have worried as it was completely dry at the start. The night tour was a blast and we'll attended by about 21 people, so it was a good trial and everyone seemed happy with it. The reflectors marked a longish trail, so good to get to the end. Another fine arachnid guarding this cache. Thanks Aquilus1 for this Multi-cache
Find # 11082Out in the Capital GeoBash trial Mt Stranger night tour accompanied by 20 or so others. A great selection of caches to find on this circuit, and an easy path to follow. There are so many well defined reflector markers, youd have to have your eyes closed not to be able to easily find your way. A bit uneven underfoot in places so appropriate footwear ?? recommended, and a good torch ??. Some pretty tall grass to wade through for some of the finds, all well maintained and it good condition.Fun night tour multi with lots of very bright reflectors. Great fun with a bunch of equally eager enthusiasts! ?? Thanks Aquilus1 ??????????
Best night cache in Canberra!Well set up, not too far to walk and easy enough to go up hills and along paths. Plus a fair few caches to pick up too! Tftc!!!
Needed a little exercise, so decided to finally go get these caches with dty73! Had tested the loop placing and testing reflectors with the CO a couple of times, so was nice to finally see the end result today! The reflectors are brilliant, love it! Thanks, Aquilus1!
Have checked on the WP where coordinates are found, and the container had slipped a bit too far to reach. It has been fixed and should be better now.
#21263 @2055I needed a regular sized cache for 30/10. As I was already most of the way here due to this evening's street orienteering, tonight was the perfect opportunity to give this cache a go. Fortunately, the weather cleared, and it was a warm, pleasant stroll following the reflectors to the WP. Occasionally, some double 'reflectors' proved to not be reflectors - they hopped away as I approached. Unfortunately, I had some difficulty retrieving the coordinates for GZ. Thankfully, the CO was very helpful, and I was able to proceed. The cache was easily located and signed, before returning to the car. TFTC.
This was an awesome and very fun cache to do, and so great to have a night cache so close to home. Took one of the kids for company and we had a great time following the reflectors. There was one slight hiccup where there seemed to be a break in the reflectors and I ended up finding one on the ground, I did a mini tree climb and returned it to hopefully a similar spot to where it came from. Thanks Aquilus1, fav point from me.

The main goal for tonight! Always good to grab a night cache, haven't done one for quite some time now! An enjoyable walk and no issues along the way! Many thanks DSD for inviting myself and injuryman to come and tackle this one tonight, as I had said no too many times already due to my 5:30am work starts! Thankful the weekend was upon us, and I had time to come out rather than sleep!
A FAVOURITE point from me for the effort gone into setting up the different components of this cache and how it flowed nicely and was a pleasant experience on this beautiful Friday Night! WP1 with the coordinates was located with ease, and so was the final after a short walk!
Many thanks A1

Wow! That was fun to complete with our caching family. One of the best night caches completed in a while particularly as it was relatively easy to walk, follow and enjoy. Time just flew as we were occupied with this adventure. Worth a favourite ️ TFTC Aquilus1.
Wow - what an excellent adventure!
We rendezvoused at the starting co-ordinates just after sunset, and activating my certified* retina-blinding illumination device revealed an reassuring trail of reflectors heading up the hill. Off we trooped with the GeoHound, conversation making the climb seem insignificant. The reflectors were extremely easy to follow, and while I like the novelty of the bright torch - we hoped to spotlight the ISS if it was orbiting overhead - in reality our standard headtorches were more than sufficient to see two-three reflectors ahead.
We startled lots of roos, or did they startle us? Either way there was startling. They gave us a good stare as we tramped past each mob. A few rabbits on the sides of the trail kept The Dog interested.
A nice length walk, and it was fully dark by the time we came to the three-banded location. Final co-ordinates were quickly obtained, and GZ turned out to be quite close by. Off we went and found the nicely-sized container easily and with a very reassuring set of instructions on the cover of the log! After signing we followed these and were back at the cars in no time.
This is an extremely well set up night cache - obviously a lot of care and effort has gone in to creating it, and we hope it gets lots of visitors now and ahead during the Mega. Thanks, Aquilus1 - a very clear favourite from me.
* not necessarily actually certified by anyone. But it is quite bright.

Awesome nighttime cache and getting a favorite. A great cache to do with friends and/or family at night. Thanks for the fun and adventure.
A lovely walk at night where The Tree Whisperer found us on the way as we grabbed a cache we hadn’t got before. We found our way along easily watching the reflectors before finding the triple band for GZ coordinates. After searching a bit far afield for the coordinates Shinydragon found the coordinates much closer to the bands.
A short walk from there to GZ where we found the log was clean for a joint *FTF*.

Joint FTF with the_proton & The Tree Whisperer! When we saw a figure approach with a head lamp and saying “what would being people out at this time of night” our group grew by one! We had a fantastic walk and talk on the way. We were all absolutely shocked that no one had found the cache yet, staring at the blank log and checking all the pages to make sure! Really enjoyed the nocturnal experience and the unexpected social experience too, it was really nice to meet you The Tree Whisperer. TFTC.
