Today we headed out to find some caches after a bit of a hiatus whilst we were dog sitting. Todays plan was to tackle Mt Barrow and other caches in the surrounding area. What a great day we had, the weather was pretty wild at the top of the mountain and only 4 degrees, certainly blew out the cobwebs . We found lots of caches and enjoyed our day. Picnic at Barrow Hut was great. Our thanks to all the CO, certainly wouldnt be enjoying Tassie as much without you all.We planned to find this one on Sunday as we were supposed to be having a cream tea at the cafe here but we found out today the cafe is closed until Tuesday . We love visiting cemeteries so it was good to stop here for a quick find. TFTC Angus
On 23/8/2024, on a maintenance circuit from Launceston to Launceston via Low Head, Bridport and Scottsdale, Angus visits Springfield was found to be in fine fettle.
Today we further explored our back yard finding caches along the way, and this was one of them.We concentrated on finding the caches that have been published since our last visit. A quick find at GZ.We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty. Many thanks to the CO for your cache placement.
Out to the dead centre of Springfield, and found this cache in a well chosen hide. All in good nick here. Thanks for another one today.
Let my muggle granddaughter find this one and she was very excited to find one of the 'boxes'. Her father told her that we go looking for lunchboxes under trees so she was keen to find one for herself. We didn't have any swaps but allowed her to take a very small smiley face bead out of this one. Thanks Angus88.
Another quick and easy find on our way back to Launceston. Another county ticked off.TFTC
We had looked for this cache earlier this year but without success. Today was the first opportunity to return to look for the cache after the coordinates were updated. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. We can finally remove this one from our TBF list. Thanks Angus88 for the cache and series.
Out and about for a tour of George Town, Bridport and thru to Scottsdale. A quick pitstop to break the drive.. thanks for another..!!
The inhabitants of this particular area have a very beautiful view. Thank you for the geocache, Angus, 88
Don’t the Simpson’s live in Springfield??

The satellites must have misaligned when this cache was first placed. Despite taking three readings which were within .003 degrees, the reading was well out. My apologies to 2ysTassies but well done to Icybeeties for finding the cache despite the inaccuracy and thanks for the correct co-ordinates.

I was visiting a friend in Scottsdale and as this cache was only a short distance away I took the time out to make the search. I searched around where the coordinates indicated where the cache should be but no find. Then using my geocaching senses I thought where might it be and I made the find. A blank log so I claim a FTF.
We were in the area today and noticed the very recent publication of this cache. We went and our GPS took us to a location totally consistent with the hint. Unfortunately we could not locate the cache despite spending several minutes looking in all the nooks and crannies. It was interesting that part of the stump had become detached and the gale force winds that blew most of the night continued during our visit. We wondered if the cache had been blown out of its hide. We looked downwind for about 20m but still no joy. Alas Angus88, it appears that this one needs checking or we are totally cache blind.
Well done icybeetas on your find. You obviously used your geocaching senses more effectively than we did. We will take a better look when we are next in the area.
